Cleaning Break 5 - (League of Legends Gameverse, Janitor!MC)
"I am actually surprised you would join us for this plottin', fox-girl," Miss Fortune remarked mirthfully.
Ahri flashed her a surprised look as she was well aware that she was sitting with a cast of unlikely people planning to cut short their vacation.
Then again, most of the Champions were mildly inclined to follow that path since the janitor was worthy to them in different manners. Some saw him as a 'friend left behind that they couldn't just ignore and leave him to suffer this new issue', while others had stakes involving close friendship and romance.
In Ahri's cases, it was a mix of being a good friend and... actually needing him for something very important.
"He is a friend."
"He's a friend to everyone- well, mostly everyone," The pirate lady hummed giddily. "To others he is just a fancy chew toy. I hope you're not of the latter kind, lass-"
"I am not," The Ionian assured, "I just..." Unconsciously, she snuck a glance around her shoulder to where Yasuo was meditating. "I need him."
"I think I get it, problems with your interest?" Ashe guessed with divine precision, making Ahri tense up as she turned back to the group of women that was now giving her amused smirks and smiles.
"H-How?"
"Let's just say I need him too. But instead of me using him, it's more about my husband," The white-haired archer remarked, her lips forming a thin line. "If you think it's rough to be in love with a difficult boy, imagine one that tries a bit too much in regard of his traditional seduction tactics."
Ahri didn't have a clue, but she could feel a pang of sympathy aimed at the married woman. "So, Jim advises him-"
"And gives him idea. Good ideas- not the best, but..."
"It works because he is gifted in being a supporting element of the group," Morgana summarised, gaining nods from the rest of the misfits.
"So... what's your plan?" Ahri finally asked, and Ashe spoke up once more.
"Well, the main concept of all of this is... we either find a solution that doesn't involve some explosives or the Yordles will just do their things at the expense of logic."
Opening her mouth to further inquire about it, the kitsune went quiet as she was directed to look at the aforementioned group of chaotic entities at work to either blast a hole into existence, or smash it in. The fact that someone like Poppy was also getting involved into that insane endeavor further made that group so terrifying and... that's why Ahri decided to stick with those people and not the yordles.
They may have a higher chances of making it through, but that didn't mean that she was fine losing her mind to that sort of madness.
"Still, I bet it's goin' to be that Lamb lass. She wants that man's ass to death, literally," Miss Fortune objected. "Also, lil' reminder to our new member: while we are planning to get back there to keep that lucky helper around, we ain't denying him some slack."
"Without a doubt," Ahri nodded in agreement. "The fact that the Whisperer wants to have him work despite this time of rest... it's absurd."
"And outrageously unfair," Morgana added with a sharp tone. "I could tell my sister is as frustrated by this as I am in this regard. If there could be a way to enact punishment, I would be willing to see it through by my hand."
"Take a turn in the line, because you wouldn't be the only one," Ashe added with a hint of bitterness. "And now that we are done with the basic thoughts, how about we go back to some proper planning?"
And planning they did. The general steps were ideas that Ahri had only wildly thought about and yet none fit well with the kind of situation they were in. If there's something that the Land of Summoners had taught her was that Runeterra's Magic, no matter its power and nature, was almost too feeble to match the one that was behind their predicament.
While entities such as Kindred and the Darkin may have an edge in most instances, their power paled before those that managed the Land of Summoners. Ahri had been rattled by this, just not as much as those individuals as she couldn't put herself in a spot where once absolute concepts were now unable to make much to sway things to their advantage.
Time spent in battles had mellowed her out of that unnerving feeling, but now that they were stuck in that little heaven, she couldn't help but think back that, perhaps, the Champions were not those that were facing the worst circumstance.
Of all those she spoke and knew about, none actually faced real trouble after being kept from their homes for that long. It would even be fair to say that Ahri was fine with this disposition since she felt like a threat to the common mortal- and she felt as such as she encountered Jim the first time.
He lacked magic, he lacked protection, and he was a rather friendly individual.
To Ahri, this was a powerful enemy to her usual shell, ultimately conceding to accept him as a friend and then as an advisor in the matters of heart. Despite her many worries, Ahri admitted that a cautious approach towards Yasuo had been helpful, especially when she realized the solitary swordsman's real concern as he handled her was for him to hurt her and not the other way around.
Despite knowing her history, Yasuo was the kind of man that wanted to see her in a positive light. And that genuine affection had done more than enough to thaw the icy cold layer around her hurting heart. A few dates later, and they were fine but...
Ahri was not good at being the one starting things. Her previous lover had done these things to her to seduce her, but Yasuo was hesitant, reluctant and...
Shy.
Many women would find it displeasing, but Ahri actually loved that aspect of him. That weakness that make him so human and so relatable to her own feelings of the world.
Jim was there to give her some basic lessons on 'standard dating'. Some of the terms he used were silly to hear and 'study', but the results spoke loudly as Ahri had conjured some well-planned events to share with Yasuo. Also, his suggestions aided her in doing something that she didn't think of doing: find a solution to contain her powers while engaging in intimacy with the swordsman.
She was 'chided' for not thinking this beforehand as 'powers are not meant to be fully restrained but controlled', so Ahri actually looked into ways to make her life-draining abilities less intense if unconsciously triggered.
Some fright came up once in a while between kisses, but Yasuo didn't lose any lifeforce much to her delight.
Ahri's decision to get back to Jim may stem from a somewhat selfish attitude, but it was also true that she felt protective of the mortal and she knew that they were friends. Did she feel annoyed he skipped on the holiday? No, in fact, she felt happy that he did as he avoided being tricked into doing more work than it was due to him.
But as she was busy planning a way to make things right by him, Ahri's ears caught a distant scream that others heard too.
"I FOUND SOMETHING~!" Jinx exclaimed giddily, Vi and Caitlyn right behind her as the pinkette shook her head as she was the one holding the shovel which dig up something.
While the idea of digging into the sand until they found the 'other side', the fact that they ended up digging deep enough to find a dark-green barrier was enough to make this insane thought a reality. Everyone was soon looking at it, touching the surface and trying to understand if that was indeed where they needed to go but-
"Well, guys, let's get started!" Teemo exclaimed, spearheading the yordles to work on breaking the barrier.
Many were curious, even more were nervous and Ahri was... more into the latter.
Maybe it would have been best for someone else to work on this...

Leave it to the Yordles to find a way to break a reality-dividing barrier.
