As the group of teens impatiently waited in the lounge at the Boston house Mel asked.
"You think this was my fault?"
"No. Why?" MJ asked.
"My family is still ticked with me." Mel pointed out as J'onn walked into the room.
"J'onn?" MJ greeted, surprised he was the one who had come.
"MJ." J'onn nodded before looking round the room and asking. "Are any of you hurt?"
"No. Alex stopped them getting to us." MJ said.
"That's good." J'onn said.
"What's wrong?" Alex asked picking up J'onn was hiding something.
"You weren't the only ones attacked." J'onn said. He then looked back at MJ and said. "Your mother is in hospital." He then turned to Martin and said. "So is Steve." He then looked from MJ to Alex and added. "So is Eliza." He paused and said. "Martin, MJ, Mel. I'll take you to National City first. Alex I'll be back for you soon."
Once the foursome left Matt hugged Alex and asked. "What can I do?"
"Nothing. You have your big deadline tomorrow. Just worry about that."
"What about you?" Matt asked.
"I'll go wait with Eliza."
"By yourself?" Matt asked frowning.
"Mom will be around."

"How is she?" MJ asked entering the waiting room where his sister and Diz were waiting.
"They said she'll be okay. We should be able to see her soon." His sister replied as she got up and hugged MJ.
"What happened to you?" MJ asked seeing the bandage on Diz.
"Got taken by surprise." Diz said looking at the bandage on his arm. "It's fine." MJ then looked at his sister and saw her bruised knuckles.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
"Far better than the guy who attacked us." Diz commented before asking. "Where are the others?"
"Mel went to the hospital Steve is in. She didn't want Martin to be there alone. J'onn was going back to take Alex to Midvale to be with grandma."
"Is Matt going with her?"
"I'd guess so." MJ said. "I mean he was with Alex when we left." He added as a nurse approached them.
"She is out of recovery and is being set up in a room. Two of you can wait with her." The nurse said.
"I'll be out here." Diz said to Kara. "Go sit with your mom."

"You are not the DEO agent I was expecting to see." The President said over the video link as Ruby sat nervously staring into the camera.
"No Sir, but there was an incident a few hours ago and I am one of the ones still standing." Ruby said.
"I suggest you start explaining." The President said sitting forward.
"Well Sir, seven members of the DEO including the Director and Agent Vasquez were attacked last night."
"Attacked?"
"Yes Sir. They have all been stabbed." Ruby explained.
"How are they?"
"Alive." Ruby said. "But none of them will be working any time soon. Four are still in surgery."
"Prognosis?"
"Everyone is expected to live."
"That's good. Anyone else attacked?"
"Yes Sir, the Director's mother was also stabbed." Ruby said.
"Her kids?"
"Attacked but managed to fight them off. And that is the one bit of good news. We have two prisoners to interrogate."
"That's something. What else do I need to know?"
"The daggers had handles with the Supers' crest etched in them."
"I am assuming you are not about to suggest Superman or Supergirl are behind this?"
"No Sir, but we think it may be a message to Supergirl."
"What has Supergirl said?"
"Not much."
"I don't like the sound of that answer. I also think I don't want to know why. So I expect you to investigate fully and let me know when you have answers."
"Yes Sir."

As the younger Alex paced the waiting room getting frustrated, she heard her name being called. Turning she saw some one unexpected.
"Alison?" She asked moments before she was pulled into a hug.
"How are you you holding up?" Matt's mother asked.
"Okay. What are you doing here?" Alex asked pulling away.
"Matt told me what happened and that you were alone up here."
"You didn't have to come." Alex said.
"No one should have to wait alone." Alison smiled.
"Thank you." Alex said hugging her again.
"How is your grandmother?"
"In surgery. They said there were complications but wouldn't tell me what."
"I am sure she is fighting hard." Alison said guiding Alex to the chairs. "Have you managed to eat?" Alison asked as Alex sat down.
"No, I'm not hungry."
"Make sure you eat enough to not collapse."
"I will." Alex said as she started playing with her sleeves.
"Any news on your aunt?"
"She's out of surgery and Diz said she is going to be okay. So is Steve." Alex said still playing with her sleeves.
"That's good." Alison smiled. "But seeing we could be here for a while, why don't you tell me about your grandmother?"

Seeing Lena walk towards her Ruby increased her pace before hugging the Luthor.
"I am so glad you are okay." Ruby said.
"I've been blindsided once, I have no intention of letting it happen again." Lena said pulling back. "Are you okay?"
"No, I have no idea what I am doing. I could really use your help."
"I am sure you are doing fine." Lena smiled. "But I am here to help. I was hoping to look at the knives."
"Right, through here." Ruby said.
"How is everyone?" Lena asked as they walked.
"Alex is out of surgery, so is Steve." Ruby said. "Eliza is not in a good way, the blade knicked something it shouldn't have. Vasquez is still in surgery as in Rubbens. Everyone else still being monitored but don't need surgery."
"And Kara?"
"Kinda missing."
"What do you mean kinda missing?"
"After she realised who had been targeted and why she kinda flew off. No one has seen her since." She explained as Rose approached.
"Ruby, POTUS is calling."
"I'll be right there." Ruby said.
"I'll look at the blades." Lena said walking off.

"Agent Pedersen." The President greeted. "How is it going?"
"Still fighting fires, but we are holding it together."
"Good." The President said. "You think you can hold on for another few hours."
"Yes, but what happens in a few hours?"
"The temporary Director should be with you."
"The temporary Director?" Ruby asked confused.
"You were planning on taking over?" The President asked amused.
"No Sir. But we kinda thought J'onn might be chosen."
"Unfortunately not. We felt, if he was amicable, we may need J'onn on the streets. We need someone focused on running the DEO." The President said. "Don't worry, I understand that the DEO is a close knit community with far more secrets than they should have, but it works. So someone who probably knows most of those secrets has already has been selected. And they have experience. They will be with you within a few hours."
"Yes Sir."

"Mom?" The younger Kara called seeing her mother start to stir.
"Kara?" Alex asked blinking a few times to reduce the blurriness of her vision.
"We're right here." Kara said squeezing her mother's hand as MJ took her other hand.
"What happened?"
"You were attacked. But you are going to be okay." MJ said.
"You need to rest though." Kara added. "But some DEO guys want to talk to you when you are up for it."
"Send them in." Alex said.
"But you need to rest." MJ said.
"I will, after I talked to them." Alex smiled before falling to sleep.
"Should we be worried?" MJ asked his sister.
"She needs the rest. Plus if she is asleep she can't figure out how bad it was." Kara reminded him. "But I'll tell the nurse she woke up briefly." She said standing. "Want me to get you anything?"
"No." MJ said shaking his head.
"I'm going to check in on Alex as well." Kara said. "See you ten."

"Any sign of Kara?" Ruby asked J'onn as he approached her.
"No." J'onn said.
"You think she has been taken?"
"I hope not, but we can't rule it out." J'onn said. "Let's just hope we find her before Alex becomes lucid." He added before asking. "Any evidence this is linked to the powder thrown at Supergirl or Superman?"
"No. And we have not seen any chatter from before it happened online." Ruby said as they heard footsteps approach.
Turning J'onn saw Lucy.
"Hi J'onn." Lucy smiled.
"You're the new boss?" Ruby guessed.
"Just until Alex is fit for duty." Lucy explained.
"I'm glad they sent you." J'onn said hugging her.
"Thank you. But I have a lot to get caught up on." She replied. "I assume Kara is at a hospital?"
"No, she's kinda MIA." Ruby said. "But we are working on finding her."
"Right." Lucy said getting a sinking feeling.
"She took what happened badly." J'onn explained. "I hope she just needs time."
"Is everyone stable enough to move here?" Lucy asked.
"No." Ruby said.
"Okay, well when they are get them over here where we can keep them safe." Lucy said. "In the mean time Saffron can lend us trusted bodies."
"Yes, Agent Bell has already sent several over." Ruby confirmed.
"What about Eliza?" Lucy asked. "What protection does she have?"
"Two Agents and Alex, the younger." Ruby said.
"Send over more protection." Lucy ordered before asking. "How's Alex doing?"
"Text responses are sounding a little robotic. But when she picks up, she's hanging in there." Ruby said.
"How is she taking Kara being missing?" Lucy asked.
"She doesn't know. She thinks she is with the boss and Steve. I didn't want to correct her." Ruby confessed.
"Anything else I should know about?" Lucy asked.
"There's a list on Alex's desk, well your desk." Ruby said.
"Right." Lucy said before asking. "Why weren't you attacked?"
"Ma'am?"
"You are close to Kara and Alex, so why weren't you attacked?"
"I was on duty here all night." Ruby explained.
"Make sure you have a protection detail whenever you leave." Lucy said.
"Yes ma'am." Ruby agreed.
"Ruby?" Lena called coming round the corner, but on seeing the trio she came to a stop.
"Lucy is taking over." J'onn explained.
"Until Alex gets back." Lucy jumped in.
"Well, in that case you need to see this." Lena said passing Lucy a tablet.
"What am I looking at?" Lucy asked.
"The handles were coated in a form of Kryptonite."
"What type?"
"I don't know for sure, but it isn't Red-K."
"Well that's something." Lucy said before asking Ruby. "Did you touch any of the handles?"
"No. Well yes, but through an evidence bag." Ruby said.
"Get tested. What about Alex?" Lucy asked.
"We should get a blood sample." Lena said.
"I'll take you." J'onn said leading Lena away. As Lucy watched them go she saw a small furry thing cross the corridor.
"Umm, Ruby, did I just see Chewie?"
"Yes, he didn't really have anywhere to go, so I had him brought here."
"Is it safe?"
"As long as he stays away from Gizmo. But that is true for all of us."
"Gizmo?" Lucy asked. "Actually I don't want to know."
