A/N: This is a collection of my twitter ficlets all compiled into one ff multi-chapter! I've posted these chronologically, so however I actually wrote/posted them, is how the chapters are arranged.
Some (so far just one) ficlet has continuations that aren't posted back to back, just because I wanted the chapters to mimic how my timeline is set up as well. I hope you guys enjoy these! I know many Darvey readers might not be on twitter (I only joined half a year ago or so, specifically for ficlets) and I didn't want anyone to miss out just in case you're rarely there or don't like reading elsewhere.
NOTE: At the end of this ficlet, I have compiled a small Chapter Index, in case you've read some fics on twitter and would like to just skip to some that sound new, or contiuation fics posted later on. I'll keep updating this as I add ficlets.
This ficlet was inspired from watching the scene that takes place at the end of Normany (Season 2 finale I believe) when Donna reminds Harvey that Darby is waiting for him to decide where Scottie should work in the firm (US or London)
Best Interest
Donna sashayed her way into Harvey's office, slightly annoyed at the fact she was still at the office after hours for him.
"How long are you going to be staring at that offer?"
"Until one of us blinks" Harvey replied back, eyes still fixated on the file.
"Deron signed it, you said it was great."
"I'm not interested in great, I want it to know who its daddy is."
Harvey slowly let his eyes connect with hers, looking up from that damned file for the first time since she entered his office. They were as smoldering as his voice was. Donna's breath hitched and she felt herself slightly flush. She inwardly rolled her eyes both in frustration and arousal at the mental images that flooded her brain at those words he uttered with his growl deep like voice. Images of her tied up, him right over her, demanding and controlling her body like he knew it well enough to commandeer to his and her every whim. He hasn't said anything this outwardly flirtatious since Scottie. It made her feverish and so fucking annoyed because she
thought they were past this.
They have always had a hint of sexual tension between them buried behind layers of jokes, humor, budding friendship, and the sealed fate of "it's never gonna happen again". And him being with Scottie, him liking Scottie, had made things so much easier for Donna so much simpler, it redrew the lines that were blurring slightly before her arrival. And Donna needed clean, clear cutting lines between her and Harvey. She needed to separate her own life from her work life and love life. Enough is enough. In fact, she had a promising date with Paul, the restaurateur in a few hours.
"Paul and Paulsen? Oh yeah alliteration is so sexy paulsen. I give it one day before you break his heart." Harvey had teased when she informed him of her plans one evening. And that comment landed softly as it should have coming from him. It was joking and light, coming from a man who had plans to see his college girlfriend that night.
But now, with Scottie potentially gone for good, his past remark landed dully in Donna's head. It moved and banged around against her brain making her interpret and analyze every angle of it, every side it may have had and every glance he gave her when uttering it. And Donna can't have that. Donna can't become some boy crazed grown ass woman over a known womanizer who was her boss turned best friend. She won't allow it. So the minute Donna gathered her breath, she put her and Harvey back in their rightful places.
Having seen her pause for so long, Harvey asked "What is it, Donna?" his voice slightly soft, but still grazing against his throat.
"It's Sunday night, Darby needs an answer."
Her voice was clear, her implication more than showing a vote of confidence in him and Scottie. The day after the messy debacle of her loudly telling him to fight for his heart, and it got her nowhere, she vowed to never sway again in fighting for him. She needed him to, and she most definitely needed Harvey squared away neatly in a relationship. Because she was a good friend, and because she knew she needed less complications in her life when it came to him. Donna heard him vote for London, but she didn't care. She knew she was going to use her "Donna" sway on him to make this happen. Because she ultimately had his best interest at heart.
And his best interest, is her best interest.
