Authoress Note: Welcome to Chapter 10 of No Shelter. I want to thank those who have left reviews for this story. It truly does mean a lot to me that you guys are enjoying this story and this series. I am trying my best to make sure that this story is something that everyone will enjoy. I know that James/Morgan pairing is difficult to come out with something that everyone would like. I mean a pirate lady with a Commodore is always hard to write out. I hope that you enjoy this next chapter. Without further ado Chapter 10. ENJOY!
Chapter 10
Morgan came down meeting up with her father and Gibbs who were running a bit late getting to the Pearl. She supposed that her father was still trying to find a hat that fit him and seeing the lack of hat that he hadn't found one.
"Load the cargo! All of it, we sail with the tide!" Gibbs shouted the order.
Morgan slowly grabbed a crate helping the new recruited crewmen with the cargo that they were going to be loading up. She handed it off to someone when someone stepped in the path of her father.
"Captain Sparrow." A familiar voice rang out.
Morgan eyed the young woman dressed in male clothing. It wasn't hard to guess who it was at that moment.
"Come to join my crew, lad? Well enough, welcome aboard."
Bonnie came down to the dock eyeing what was happening below.
"I've come to find the man I love."
Jack pulled up short eyeing her warily. "I'm deeply flattered, son, but my first and only love is the sea."
Bonnie cleared her throat.
Jack turned sharply to his wife. "And you are my love too."
Bonnie rolled her eyes.
"Meaning William Turner, Captain Sparrow." The person said revealing who she was.
Jack peered at her for a moment. "Elizabeth?" He turned to Gibbs and his wife. "Hide the rum." He turned his attention back to Elizabeth. "You know, these clothes do not flatter you at all. It should be a dress, or nothing. Come aboard. I happen to have no dress in my cabin."
"Jack. I know Will set out to find you. Where is he?"
"Darling, I am truly unhappy to have to tell you this …"
Elizabeth braced herself.
"But through an unfortunate and entirely unforeseeable series of circumstances that have nothing whatsoever to do with me ... poor Will was press-ganged into Davy Jones' crew."
"Davy Jones."
James hurled up his stomach purging of the booze that he had drank. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. "Oh, please. The Captain of the Flying Dutchman. A ship that ferries those
who died at sea from this world to the next."
"Bang on. You look bloody awful. What are you doing here?"
"Father." Morgan snapped looking at her father.
James eyed the young woman warily before turning his attention to Jack. "You hired me. I can't help that your standards are lax."
"You smell funny."
"Jackie." Bonnie warned looking at her husband. "He is part of the crew. No need to be rude."
"Jack, all I want is to find Will." Elizabeth said softly.
"Are you certain? Is that what you really want ... most?"
Bonnie raised her brow looking at her husband wondering what he was doing at that very moment.
"Of course." Elizabeth said with a nod of her head.
"I'd think you'd want to find a way to save Will ... most."
"And you have a way to do that?"
"Well ... there is a chest."
"Oh dear." James said shaking his head not liking what he was hearing.
"A chest of of unknown size and origin."
Pintel hauled a large barrel with Ragetti. "What contains the still-beating heart of Davy Jones!"
"ThumpTHUMP!" Ragetti said miming a beating heart.
Jack glared at the two of them.
"Get back to work you two." Bonnie said looking at the two of them.
"Yes, Ma'am."
Bonnie shook her head lightly.
"And whoever possesses that chest possesses the leverage to command Jones do whatever it is he ... or she ... wants. Including saving our brave William from his grim fate."
"You don't actually believe him." James questioned looking at Elizabeth.
"How can we find it?" Elizabeth questioned softly.
"With this." Jack said displaying his Compass. "This Compass is unique."
"Unique here having the meaning of 'broken'?"
Jack gave James a reprimanding look and looked back at Elizabeth. "True enough, this Compass does not point North."
"Where does it point?"
"It points to the thing you want most in this world." Morgan said getting closer to her father crossing her arms.
Elizabeth looked at Jack and then to Morgan.
"Aye that." Jack said with a nod of his head.
"Jack, are you telling the truth?" Elizabeth asked softly hoping that he was telling the truth.
"Every word, luv." He put the compass into her hands. "What you want most in the world is to find the chest of Davy Jones, is it not?"
"To save Will."
"By finding the chest of Davy Jones." He opened the compass and stepped back quickly leaning back in to look at it being careful to not touch Elizabeth. Jack grinned when the needle swung around and then held steady. "Mr. Gibbs! We have our heading!"
"Finally! Cast off those lines! Weigh anchor and crowd the canvas!"
"I found some more recruits, sir." The Irishman said coming up carrying some cargo to put on the ship.
"Welcome aboard! Miss Swann?" Jack said with a smile.
Elizabeth stepped up the ramp.
James was suddenly handed a goat and he slowly followed behind Morgan and Bonnie. He eyed the younger Sparrow woman wondering why she was here. Didn't she decide to have a life on land or did she not know what to do with herself when she was there? He honestly didn't understand why she would want to give that up and join the crew of the Pearl again. His heart constricted in his chest, perhaps there was more to this than just that.
