Once Erin had obtained the rape kit, she expressed her eagerness to return home by saying, 'I can flush out the drugs from my system at home.' She directed her words towards Will and Voight, who were persuading her to remain in the hospital for a few days.
Voight let out a sigh as he made attempts to convince Erin to stay at the hospital, realizing that two hours had elapsed in their discussion. 'You should understand that it is in your best interest to stay here,' he urged, hoping she would comply.
Erin, however, insisted on being fine alone, or proposed staying with Voight until the drugs were out of her system. As the two men exchanged glances, Voight eventually conceded, remarking, 'It might be preferable to prevent her from attempting to leave on her own, ensuring her safety.' Erin nodded in agreement with a snort upon hearing Voight's statement.
Erin vowed, 'I will be compliant and attentive to all instructions given to me.' She assured Will as she addressed him with determination, 'I will even take this IV along with me; I have previous experience with drugs, so I am aware of how to cleanse my system.'
Will, after a brief pause, proceeded to agree, 'You are correct. I will make the necessary arrangements, and I expect you to ensure adequate fluid intake.'
With that, he left to organize the discharge process and procure medication for Erin. Once the doctor exited the room, Erin turned to Voight, who was holding her hand tenderly, and he inquired, 'Are you certain about not wanting to remain here?' He expressed concern that her condition might deteriorate.
Affirmatively, the brunette nodded and confided, 'I trust you, Hank.' Without hesitation, Erin nestled into his chest, absorbing his comforting embrace and scent, prompting Voight to encircle her with his arms and plant a gentle kiss on her head.
Voight was pleased when Erin expressed her trust in him, despite her reservations. 'Are you certain? Even if I couldn't be of assistance?' he inquired, prompting her to look up at him in response. 'Don't blame yourself, Hank,' she reassured, planting a kiss on his cheek before drifting off to sleep.
As the sergeant observed Erin's peaceful slumber, Will reentered the room and requested Voight's signature on some documents, offering him a clipboard for that purpose.
'Thank you, Halstead,' Voight acknowledged as he rose, preparing to transport Erin without disturbing her once the necessary paperwork was completed.
Will offered to carry the bags containing medication supplies, but Voight declined, insisting he could handle them. 'No, I've got it, thank you,' he said before exiting the room. 'If Erin develops high fevers or exhibits unusual behavior, don't hesitate to contact me. I'll be there,' Voight emphasized.
Voight expressed gratitude as he carried Erin through the hospital doors, paying no mind to the judgmental gazes directed at him. He was unconcerned about who witnessed him carrying the slumbering brunette in his arms.
Once he settled Erin in the passenger seat and secured her, Platt approached him by the truck they had arrived in, asking, 'Hank, can I have a word with you?'
'Of course,' Voight replied, closing the door. Platt, after exchanging glances between Voight and the truck, inquired, 'What are your intentions regarding Roland? Considering Erin may require your presence tonight, I can detain him in custody.'
Voight deliberated on the matter before responding, 'Keep him in custody for the night, I will handle him tomorrow. However, I need you to watch over Erin while I am away.'
Platt affirmed, 'You can be assured that I will look after her.' 'Thank you, Trudy,' Voight acknowledged, giving the female sergeant's shoulder a pat before driving to his residence with a sleeping Erin.
ยท At Voight's House*
Voight carried Erin into the house after parking the truck. Once inside, he adjusted her in his arms to close the door behind him. He felt her shift and let out a moan as she woke up. 'Where are we?' Erin asked, noticing they were at Voight's house. 'We're at my place,' Voight answered, placing her on the couch.
'Would you like to take a shower while I prepare everything in your old room?' he inquired. The brunette nodded in agreement, whispering that a shower would help her get rid of the feeling of Roland. 'Alright, just call out for me if you need anything,' Voight said as he assisted her up the stairs.
Erin nodded and, with Voight's help, made her way into the bathroom. She grabbed a towel and laid it on the sink before getting undressed and starting to prepare for the shower.
Following a long day, the female detective took a moment to compose herself by undressing and stepping into the shower. Once the water reached the desired temperature, she drew in a deep breath as the warmth cascaded over her sun-kissed skin.
Erin then retreated to the tub, leaning against the wall and curling into a ball to reflect on the recent events. Despite shedding tears and recalling the tragic loss of Nadia, she found herself in need of assistance after distancing herself from others due to the emotional turmoil.
An hour had passed since Erin secluded herself in the bathroom, prompting Voight's concern, particularly upon hearing her sobs. Although he had contemplated intervening earlier, he decided to give her space to process her emotions.
Voight approached the shower and took the towel in hand. "Hello, Erin," he whispered, signaling his presence to the brunette. "We should get you out of here and into some warm clothes," he added, wrapping the towel around Erin's shivering form.
"Alright, my dear, I will lift you up," Voight stated as he skillfully picked Erin up, supporting her around her neck and legs, and carried her to her former room. Once inside the room, Voight began to dry Erin, who gazed into the distance.
"Uh, Hank," she mumbled softly. "Yes?" Voight inquired as he arranged the towel over her shoulders and looked at her. "I was reflecting," Erin began as Voight assisted in dressing her, considering her lack of energy.
"I seem to bring nothing but trouble, don't I?" she whispered, adjusting her shirt that had been pulled over her head.
Voight frowned as he listened to Erin criticize herself, observing her hazel eyes welling up with tears as she muttered, 'I was born into bad news, and I can't seem to get away from it.' Her body shook as Voight embraced her.
'Stop being hard on yourself, Erin,' Voight attempted to reason with the brunette, but she continued to express her thoughts by saying, 'But it's the ones around me, the people that I care about the most who end up getting hurt.'
Voight couldn't help but feel a tear escape down his cheek as he empathized with Erin's words, knowing she was referring to blaming herself for Nadia's death and not standing up to Roland.
'Hey baby,' Voight said as he gently touched Erin's cheeks, 'You're tired, and you've been through a lot in the past weeks.' He whispered, planting a kiss on her forehead, 'Why don't you lay down and get some sleep,' as he aided her in lying down. Voight tucked Erin in and kissed her cheek, 'Get some rest, baby girl, and I'll see you in the morning.'
Voight expressed his affection by saying, 'I love you,' as he walked towards the door after making sure Erin was fully settled in. Erin reciprocated, whispering, 'Love you too, Hank,' before Voight closed the door to her room and retired to his own.
