An electrical explosion boomed out on the surface of the Black Moon. Both Weisz and Jigan slid back from one another, Jigan wearing an antagonizing grin. He couldn't see Weisz's expression under the mask, he assumed it was a scowl. "50 years later and you still got the scowl down, don't you?"
"Tch..." Weisz grunted. Unfortunately for him, Jigan was right on the money. These two had a past and knew each other well, even if they couldn't stand each other. The time gap between them couldn't change that. "Looks like you got a little smarter, only took you 50 years!"
Now it was Jigan's turn to scowl. With a grunt, he held hsi hand forward, firing a bolt of lightning towards Weisz. "I'll teach you to respect your elders, you damned brat!"
"Uh oh!" Weisz leapt to the side, the wings of his Arsensal suit extending to let him glide out of the way of the incoming beam of lightning. He quickly spun around, gathering momentum as he raced towards Jigan at high speeds. "Wing Blade!" He aimed to slam his wing right into Jigan's broad chest, but instead, Jigan crossed his arms at the moment of impact, the two of them entering a stalemate.
"Not...good enough!" Jigan roared, uncrossing his arms and pushing Weisz back in the process. With this opening, Jigan's fist charged with black lightning and he swung forward, slamming it right into Weisz's chest! This impact resounded throughout the area with a CRACK of lightning and thunder, the hero being flung backwards and across the ground.
"Gaaah!" Weisz tumbled for a few feet, feeling the sparks dancing around his body. Even through his armor, he felt that. "Damn, he packs a punch. Wait..." He checked his suit's fuel, eyes widening at the readings. "Already at 50%?! But we just started and I know I improved the economy on this thing!?"
"GAHAHAHAHA!" Jigan laughed at Weisz's surprise. "You think I spent these last 50 years twiddling my thumbs, asshat!? I know how machines work! Even if you fuel them with Ether, it can still be drained or overloaded with a strong shock! I'm still getting started, what about you!?" As he said this, he swung his arms down, multiple bolts of lightning crashing down on the field. Some of them were aimed at Weisz, while the others were just crashing down chaotically and without aim. It was Jigan attempting to assert dominance on the field.
"Guess we're in for an uphill climb!" Weisz grunted. He'd find a way around this. Jigan wasn't messing around, clearly. As such, he was going to face him head on, flying forward once again. He dodged through the lightning and found an opening, pointing his shifting arm cannon forward. "Vice Cannon!" A beam of ether shot from his cannon, striking Jigan in the chest and sending him backwards.
"Gah! Still got some fight!?" Jigan felt that hit in his core. He looked up, only to see that Weisz was gone! "Huh!? Where did he!?" He then noticed a shadow lingering on top of him, which he turned his gaze up to. He saw Weisz above him, his left arm configured into a gigantic fist.
"Mortar Crash!" Weisz slammed his large fist down onto Jigan, crushing him into the surface of the Black Moon. Right after this impact, a fiery explosion took place. Weisz was already in a risky situation by burning through Arsenal's ether so quickly, but he didn't have a choice when half of it was stolen from him in a single shot. The explosion sent Weisz backwards, but he was able to control his flight. He peered into the smoke, only to see a streak of black lightning vanish from it. "Huh-!?"
Weisz didn't even have the chance to turn around. A bruised Jigan was already behind him, his hammer of lightning mid swing. It slammed against Weisz's back, throwing him off into the distance, towards a group of decrepit abandoned buildings. Weisz crashed through one of them and grunted. feeling the damage to his suit. It cracked in multiple places, but it didn't shatter. "Damn...he still hurts. No wonder Shiki had a hard time wit him..." Jigan was stronger than before, but Weisz wasn't going to put the burden of his past on them. Jigan was his problem now, and he was going to solve it. "What am I going to do, he's still too much of a brute, and if I fight him head on, I'll run out of ether. Hm..." He then realized something. He was in a building...
Jigan soon landed in the center of the buildings, arms crossed while looking around. "C'mon! I know you're not done yet!" Jigan taunted. Surely Weisz had more fight in him. He then saw a streak of something pass him by, making him look...and it happened a few more times as well. "Get out here, you little gnat!" Annoyed, Jigan began to charge lightning in his body, getting ready to release it in a large burst outward. Before he could, however...
"I got you right where I want you! Million Bullets!" Weisz appeared in the air. Jigan looked up, and this distracted him from the multiple turrets on the buildings pointed at him. By the time he noticed he was already being fired upon.
"Shiiiiiiiit!" Jigan shouted as he was bombarded with bullets for minutes on end. The bombardment stopped and he was face down on the ground. Weisz landed and peered at Jigan...
"Was that enough...?" Weisz questioned. The silence was tense, but it was broken by a cough.
Jigan coughed a few times, placing his hands on the ground to push himself up. He was covered in bruises and bleeding in multiple places, but... "Ether coated bullets, huh? When did you get so soft?" With a mocking chuckle, Jigan stood back up. "If those were real bullets, I might've stayed down. But I guess...you never would've done that to begin with, huh?"
"...' Weisz remained silent. They both knew the answer to that.
"Well, it doesn't matter..." Jigan was panting heavily. Truthfully, that Million Bullets really did a number on him. But he was still standing, and he was going to make sure that Weisz wasn't. With a malicious smirk, he vanished, only to appear as a bolt of black lightning, charging ahead with the electric horns on his head. "RAGING BULL!"
"Defense Matrix!" Weisz threw his arms forward, creating several walls of Ether in front of him to try and defend against Jigan's incoming charge. Jigan clashed against the first wall, but it then shattered, and soon, all of them started to follow right after. "Shit..!"
He crashed into Weisz, sending him flying back with a cry of pain, but Jigan wasn't done yet. He zipped around, over and over, slamming into Weisz from multiple angles. "LIGHTNING BLITZ!" And the final impact was a kick to Weisz's chest, shattering a majority of his Arsenal armor while crushing him into the ground.
"GAAAAAH!" Weisz cried out as his armor shattered. The only thing left from Arsenal were two of his arms, which somehow survived the impact. "Damn...!"
"Can't relax yet!" Jigan was planning to finish Weisz off here and now! "Thunderous Impact!" He swung his fist for Weisz's face, aiming for this to be the last hit. But his arms were suddenly stopped by an unknown force! Weisz entered his Overdrive, using the tendril from his back to wrap around Jigan's arms and hold them apart. "You little rat!"
Weisz overcharged one of his arms, putting nearly everything he had left into this attack. "Overcharge Cannon!" He then thrust this arm into Jigan's chest, where a massive explosion took place, lighting up the surface of the Black Moon from the sheer power of it. The two combatants were thrown backwards, and Weisz wasn't safe from the impact of his own explosion either. He was risking it all to put Jigan down... "Haaah...haaaah..."
Jigan was on his back, panting and heaving heavily. The two of them were down...but... "Damn...must be the vigor of youth or something...you're a piece of work to put down..."
"You got more stubborn with age..." Weisz replied, an irritated grit on his lips as the two of them were both sitting up. Clearly, neither of them were done yet. Weisz, however, was out of Ether and he knew it... "I'm not sure if I should be impressed or sad..."
"I always knew a fight between us would end like this..." Jigan said while slowly bringing himself to his feet, swaying from side to side. This younger Weisz was a much better fighter than that older version of him. "Me, winning."
"Hah...you think it's over...?" Weisz staggered to his feet. He was still standing, and he had one arm of Arsenal. He clenched that arm into a fist, grinning. "The hero never gives up until the end. And as far as I can tell...I'm still standing."
This made Jigan give an irritated groan. But the worst part about this? For a split second, he could see that old Weisz in this young one. Different timelines aside, this man was... "Always with that hero business. You were a zero when I met you, and you're still a zero even now! You've accomplished nothing in two timelines! You think I'm gonna let myself be outshined by YOU!?" His hammer appeared within his hand once again, and he truly was planning to bring this fight to an end. "MJOLNIR'S STRIKE!" He swung his hammer forward, sending a powerful bolt of lightning that cleaved through the ground towards Weisz. There was an explosion of lightning upon contact, leaving Jigan with a victory grin. "I win."
It appeared as if he won, however...that was far from the case. The lightning that Jigan unleashed was funneled into the single Arsenal arm that Weisz had available. Weisz made a gamble on this and it was paying off, because a surge of ether exploded around him in the process. "Haaaaaaaah!"
"What the!?" Jigan took a step back. "What the hell did you just do!?"
"You used your lightning to overcharge and sap my ether from Arsenal...so while I was setting up Million Bullets, I used that chance to modify my arms to absorb lightning. This way, it restores my Ether!" This was an idea he got from watching Blair fight, and Jigan was the first person he could put this into practice against. If his armored arms broke, that would've been the end of it. Arsenal repaired itself, forming around Weisz fully once more. "The hero never gives in! There are people counting on me and I'm not letting them down!" And then, he flew forward at high speeds. His body was hurting pretty badly, so he was using Arsensal's propulsion systems to do the work for him. He still had to end this here and now!
"Ghhh!" Jigan snarled in anger and disbelief. How did Weisz get one over on him like that!? He tried to fire bolts of lighting to strike Weisz down, but he was able to avoid each and every single one of them.
Weisz them slammed his wings into Jigan, over and over and over, blitzing him with his speed. "Arsenal Special: Mighty Wing Blade!" Weisz then flew into the air, allowing momentum and gravity to carry him forward as he spun around, slamming his leg on the crown on Jigan's head. A shockwave boomed out from the impact and Weisz landed on the ground. Jigan staggered back a few steps before...his Overdrive faded and he fell onto his back. Not in KO, but he knew he was done.
"Guh..." Jigan groaned as he lied on the ground, looking up at the obsidian sky, still only lit up by the space fighting above them. "Damn it...you got me..." He hated uttering those words. The first time he and Weisz had a real, serious fight...and he lost.
Weisz was panting heavily. Jigan didn't make that easy for him at all. His helmet temporarily came off and he sighed, standing over Jigan. "...I hate admitting it, but it really could've gone either way. You really did get more stubborn with age."
"I don't get it..." Jigan looked up at Weisz, now just sitting up after a few moments. He accepted the fact he just lost, so he didn't intend on going for any dirty tricks. "50 years ago you were a loner...you, me, and Sabir couldn't stand each other. You didn't care about anyone. Sure, the other you mellowed out with age, but you're that same guy..."
Weisz shook his head. He then took a seat next to Jigan. "You're wrong. I'm not the same guy from back them. I was for a while...but then I joined the Eden's Zero. It was a messy start at first. But they're my crew...my family. And I'd go to the ends of the cosmos for them. They helped me become the man I am right now."
"You're so sentimental now." Jigan groaned.
"And you're still chasing glory. That being said, it got you all the way here." Weisz said, now standing up. "We're too different now. I'm here with my friends to try and save the cosmos. You're here because you want power...because you don't want to fall behind. You had your crew, but you ended up here all by yourself. Meanwhile, Blair is with us...and Hanabi sacrificed her life to keep Blair safe. Power isn't the only thing of value in this universe. I learned that. I'll tell you this, Jigan. You might be old, but you've still got some life left in you. So you just have to decide what you really want from your life going forward."
"...Getting lectured by a damn brat." Jigan sucked his teeth and fell back. "Well...go on then. You got me. I ain't gonna stop you. The Black Moon just ain't for me." If he lost to Weisz, he surely wouldn't have a chance at getting anything else done here. It was a shame, but he knew when to give up. "You got a cosmos to save."
"...Catch you around. If you come after my crew again, though..." Weisz trailed off.
"Yeah, yeah." Jigan didn't want to hear anymore of this. Weisz got the cue, and started to walk off...after that, it was just Jigan, alone with his thoughts. He signed and lied there with his eyes closed, but before long, he heard footsteps. Not just one or two...but many of them. His eyes opened and he saw a squadron of Galactic Fleet Soldiers attempting to quietly pursue and take aim at Weisz.
"His guard is down." One of them said.
"Good, we can take him out."
[Flashback]
Jigan reigned victorious in the drinking contest over Sibir and older Weisz. They were all hammered and Bernadette just shook her head. "Gahaha! Looks like I win!"
"Not bad..." Weisz said with a drunken chuckle.
"You win..." Sibir admitted defeat.
"You're all so...ugh." Bernadette groaned.
"Time for you two to pay up!" Jigan said with a burp. His face was flushed, but he was enjoying the victory over these two. Whatever bond they had...surely existed. They were old, past their prime, and all had different lives. But a moment like this was oddly nice.
"You got it..." Weisz had to dig into his wallet. He took a small look at Bernadette to see if she would help him pay, but she shook her head. he was on his own. "Reminded me of the old days..."
"Those were days..." Sibir remarked.
"...You guys remember the bet we made 50 years ago?" Weisz asked. Asking two old, drunk people about something that long ago felt like a long shot, but it was only because of this that he remembered.
"Which one of us would kick the bucket first?" Jigan had to sit down after standing for victory. "I said it was gonna be you or Sibir."
"I also said it would be Sibir or you." Weisz said.
"And I was irritated by the question, I wanted you two to drop dead then and there." Sibir said with a fond chuckle. "I haven't thought about that in a long time."
"Your answer changed?" Jigan lifted a brow.
"It's gonna be you." Both Weisz and Sibir said at the same time.
"GAH!" Jigan scoffed. "I knew you'd say that, bastards!"
"You're the only one of us still looking for trouble and fighting." Weisz said. "It's gonna catch up to you one of these days..."
"I'll be sure to outlive you two!" Jigan said, reminding them all exactly of how this bet started in the first place. "I ain't afraid to keep going. You two are past your prime, but I've barely entered mine yet! If I die...the cosmos is going to know my name first!"
[End Flashback]
Jigan clenched his hand into a fist, causing a bolt of lightning to drop down on the Galactic Fleet members. Mostly just to scare them, forcing them to turn around. "You think you can just skip over me like that?"
"You're still alive?" One of the soldiers asked.
"That asshole would only kill me with boredom." Jigan said while standing back up. He was surrounded and the numbers were in the dozens, but he kept a smile. "More importantly...I ain't gonna let you kill him."
"You two were just fighting not too long ago!" Another soldier said, pointing out the absurdity of Jigan's words and actions. "We both want to take him out. So why are you getting in our way!?"
Jigan slammed his foot on the ground, a shockwave of lightning exploding out in all directions to knock down multiple soldiers. "You wouldn't get it. You shouldn't be worried about him right now! I'm the only person standing in front of you right now!" With a laugh, he forced himself into his Overdrive once again. This time, he engaged in combat with the Galactic Fleet soldiers in his weakened state. He was still the stronger one, but his injuries were slowing him down. This allowed for multiple blasts of Ether to pierce through his body...one even struck him right in the heart, causing him to stop cold.
"What a stubborn old man..." A soldier breathed a sigh of relief.
But then, lightning sparked around Jigan once again and he coughed up blood. He used lightning to force his wounded heart to beat, causing fear to appear on the soldier's faces. They shot him dead, but he was still moving! "GAHAHAHAHAHA! IS THAT THE BEST YOU CAN DO!? I"M NOT GETTING OUTDONE BY YOU!"
"What the hell!?"
"This guy is a monster...!?"
"Who are you...!?"
Jigan's bloodied lips curled into a wide smirk. The fear on their faces, how he loved to see it, even as his vision was beginning to blur. It was growing dark and cold, but he forced his body to keep going. "REMEMBER THIS NAME, YOU RUNTS! I AM JIGAN KING!" They fired upon him once more...and Jigan slammed his fist into the ground, where an explosion of lightning took place.
Weisz was a fair distance away now, only to hear that explosion. He wasn't sure what was happening, but he could hazard a guess. He grit his teeth for just a moment... "...See you later, Jigan..."
There would always be one person in this current generation that would carry the name Jigan King with them...
