When Callie entered the office Arizona and she had to share that following Monday, Arizona already sat there. A donut and a coffee next to her. Blonde hair was braided in two french braids and her ears were decorated with silver earrings.

White airpods where stuck in Arizona's ears, making Callie question if the blonde even recognized her presence yet.

Slowly and without saying anything, the latina made her way to her own desk, pulling out her laptop and starting to work.

Sometimes she would glance over at Arizona, she wanted to catch the blonde and apologize to her for the evening a few days prior.

Dr. Taylor hadn't said much about Arizona that evening. "She's working on a pretty tough case at the moment. Sometimes she gets a little overwhelmed."

It wasn't too long after that they too left the restaurant, Dr. Taylor giving Callie a ride to her apartment.

A beeping noice pulled both women out of their paperwork. Arizona quickly pulled out her headphones, grabbed her lab coat and started running.

With her specialties fetal and pediatric surgery, Arizona often was pulled into emergency pregnancies or births.

As she entered the room, a nurse already welcomed her, telling her all of the information needed while helping the blonde into a protective gown.

Meanwhile, Callie looked around the office a little. The walls were painted in a green ish color, Arizona's desk and chair were in more dark brown to black colors. The walls were decorated with either fake plants or pictures that showed her, Dr. Taylor, she and a man. In front of the window was a brown, long sofa placed, some pillows and and blankets.

For a person like Arizona, this office seemed pretty dark.

After three hours of active labor and child birth, Arizona wanted noting more than to crush on her sofa, close her eyes a little before she had to start paperwork. Luckily there weren't any complications, so the mother and her new born could leave in one to two days.

But her plan didn't worked out too well. She had totally forgotten about Callie having her office in the same as hers now.

She entered her office, expecting the latina to be sitting on her desk. Nothing. Arizona slowly made her way towards the sofa. She's been awake since almost twenty-four hours by now, had performed a perfect textbook surgery, delivered a baby, went to visit twice and got lots of paperwork done. Later on, Arizona drove to the library to buy some books she'd need for her research. The books were laying under her desk, she would need to start reading soon.

But now, as long as her pager seemed to be quiet, the blonde just wanted to sleep.

When Arizona woke up again, a little hand was caressing her cheek. "Come on Isla, let Auntie Zona sleep for a little more." Lily whispered to her daughter.

Isla slightly kissed Arizona's forehead, like Arizona always does when Isla is about to go to sleep. "Sleep well Zona." The five year old said.

Just as they were about to go, Arizona opened her eyes. "Wait!" Isla turned around and started running towards Arizona. "You're awake! Look, Mommy and I brought you your favorite donut!" Isla said, already sitting on the blondes lap. "Mommy said you received a stork again for a nice family. Is that true?"

Arizona had to smile. "Of course it is! Mommy's never lying, remember?" Arizona said. The five year old nodded happily, hugging the blonde as tight as she could. "I'm so proud of you! You're awesome Zona!" Isla said laughing.

"Hey, I have to go now, do you mind taking her back to the child care?" Dr. Taylor asked Arizona as her pager started beeping. The blonde agreed. She had bought a cute little shirt for Isla anyway.

When Lily was gone, Isla and Arizona made their way to Arizona's desk. "Look what got you!" The blonde got some blue scrubs she found online out of one of her desk cabinet.

"Now, you can look just like your mommy does!" The blonde exclaimed smiling. She watched as blue eyes sparkled up. She took the scrubs out of Arizona's hands, jumped out of her lap and hold the pieces to her body.

"Look Dr. Callie, Zona gave me them, now I can receive storks and give them to nice families too!" The five year old happily said, showing Callie the blue clothing. "Wow, she really did a great job with picking them out, right?" Callie played along, finding it adorable how happy the little girl was about the scrubs.

"Yes!" And with that, Isla turned around and jumped straight to Arizona. "Thank you soo much Zona! You're the best!"

Around an hour, some donuts and a hot chocolate later, Isla was soundly asleep on the sofa in the office.

"Hey uhm, I wanted to apologize for last evening. Dr. Taylor didn't told me what it was about but I clearly said something that upset you. I'm really sorry!" The latina said. Arizona looked up up from her laptop. What Callie said the night before had affected her pretty much. But on the other side, Callie didn't knew why Arizona acted the way she did.

"You're right, what you said upset me really much and I will not say that what you said about the army was right, because it absolutely wasn't. But for the sake of these studies we have to work together. We have to spent hours in this goddamn office together, in the lab. Until the research is going I'm stuck with you. You're forgiven but don't say anything like that ever again." Arizona said, trying to sound as serious as she could. She couldn't deal with authority, nor did she actually had any.

"She's really cute!" Callie commented, nodding towards Isla. When she turned her head to Arizona, she saw a sad smile appear on her face. "Yes she is! I love her so much." She quietly agreed. Isla was one of her favorite people. "She has two little siblings. Oliver and Harper. She is the best big sister ever." Arizona continued to swarm about Isla. The blonde sat in front of the little girl. She caressed her hand softly over the smooth skin of Isla's cheek.

"Do you have siblings?" Callie asks innocent.

Arizona's breathing froze, she hoped Callie wouldn't notice. "I uhm a brother. I've got an older brother." She then answered, honestly not feeling in the mood to keep talking. Arizona stood up again, picked up Isla and turned around. "I should get her back to daycare." She said quietly. Without waiting on Callie to say anything, Arizona got out. She felt like she couldn't breath, but still had Isla on her arm.

Around ten minutes later, Arizona found herself on the roof of the building. She looked down, seeing how tiny the people down there seemed.

It calmed her down. She would go up here everytime she was overwhelmed, upset, angry. She would go up here, view the city and...

Crap, she left her box in her office. Not finding enough strength to go down to her office and get her box, Arizona just her back on the framework of the building, letting her head hang off of it. The light rain was comforting her, wind rushing through her hair, eyes closed.

For a moment the world went quiet, she lost herself in memories, flashbacks. For a moment there weren't any such as war, hate, the devil. It was peace. Cars weren't heard anymore, and no one's voice could be heard in the New Yorker streets.

The blonde relaxed until she started shivering. She slowly put her head up the framework and pushed herself away from it, making her way towards the exit.

A pager made it self known in the office. Callie looked up from her work, noticing for the first time the absence from her partner. Again. The pager started beeping for a second time.

Slowly, Callie made her way towards Arizona's desk. The blondes Type A personality was pretty much obvious. A picture from Arizona and a man got Callie's attention. They looked so similar. It must be her brother, Callie thought.

She took the picture in her hands and let her hands roam over it. A little heart sticker was placed in the left corner.

A young Arizona was seen on the picture. Both if them wore a santa hat. The children had matching pjs on and stood in front of the Christmas tree. The boy had hold a sign with the caption 'return to Santa's please' and Arizona, she had a chocolate Santa clause in her hands, melted chocolate around her mouth and hands and looked smiling in the camera.

"What are you doing there? Don't you have your own desk on the other side of the room?" A totally drenched in water and angry Arizona asked. Callie wanted to know why Arizona looked like she just came out of a tropical rainstorm, but decided the safer option would be to just answer the question.

"Sorry, your pager went off, I wanted to check if it was a 911."

"And then you accidentally took the picture from my desk?" Arizona asked with an anger filled voice. She hated it when people randomly took her stuff. Most of all it was the picture from her brother and herself.

The blonde took a deep breath to calm herself down. She had overreacted. "Sorry, I just don't do it again." She breathed out.

Silently, Callie nodded, making her way back to her desk. "Was that your brother? On the picture?"

Arizona looked up again. For a moment she froze. Nothing came out of her mouth. The blonde looked down again, lightly placing the picture back on it's actual place. "Tim, yes. On this picture he was six. I'm three years younger. Mom tried to snap a picture of us where we were supposed to hold similar signs."

Callie smiled at Arizona, listening to her talk about her brother. She had realized pretty quickly that the blonde had a head of her own. Something Callie didn't decided yet if it was a good it a bad thing.

"Enough of that, I got us some books that should help with us. Every book is either about the bone structure, how deformities develop, if it was genetic, due to an accident or something else. So those books are more your subject. Other books I got are about the babies in the uterus. How deformities are developing inside the uterus. We should read the books, make notes and later on sit together and discuss them." The blonde said as she put the bag with the books in on her desk.

Hours later Arizona could finally relax. She put on her pyjamas, ordered herself a pizza and got some wine. Callie and she had spent hours on their books and still weren't done yet. The blonde turned on the TV, hoping to watch something interesting while eating.

She ended up watching the news. It wasn't too long after that Arizona cleaned everything up, turned the TV off and went to bed.

11 pm and Callie still was in their office. Arizona had left a little earlier, saying she was tired and that she wasn't home since over 24 hours.

Not feeling like keep sitting here and trying to focus (while being well aware that she had lost all focus and motivation hours ago) Callie also left. As she was standing in the elevator she heard two nurses talking. "Apparently she left early to go see Jenna again." One of them said.

"Well, I wouldn't be too surprised. It's not like they are hiding anything." The other agreed.

"But to be honest I don't understand it. She acts like a kid herself but sleeps with half of the hospital on the other side. Now don't get me wrong, I know everyone has a private life, but what if a parent of one of patients would be an ex fling?" The first one asked.

Callie couldn't help but smile into herself. Whoever was sleeping around here would be great friends with Mark Sloan, her best friend in Seattle.

The door opened and the nurses and Callie exited the elevator. The nurses continued gossiping, while Callie walked towards the exit of the hospital.

It wasn't too long after that she found a bar called Foxx. The lighting in there was rather in organge, red, brown ish colors. Just like the name said, it was really much Fox themed.

The latina sat on a chair directly at the bar. She wasn't looking for a whole drunk night out like she actually loved. But being here in New York, without knowing anybody here except Robbins and Dr. Taylor, the latina preferred not getting too much alcohol in her system tonight.

Just around an hour after she'd had her drink she noticed a large group of people entering the bar. Callie actually recognized some of them. They were again nurses from the hospital. God she loved nurses. Back in Seattle she would often eavesdropping the nurse gossip. Some stories came out as actually true, like when all of a sudden an intern claimed to be Meredith Grey's little sister. The funny was that Meredith grew up as an only child, never having heard anything about her sister Lexie. Callie knew all to well that nurse gossip could either be a pain in the ass or really funny.

"Is it true? Blondie and you are a thing?" A young man's voice was heard. The question wasn't for Callie but a young brunette which just rolled her eyes at the man. "No, why would you think that? We have fun together, nothing more, nothing less. Go get your own life!" She joked while hitting the man's sholder.

Seeing the nurses like that, all fooling around with their friends did make her miss her own friends a little. Mark would have loved this bar. It wasn't too crowded but also not empty at all. Dartboards hung on the walls and little bowls with peanuts stood on every table.

"You should know better. She has quite the reputation of sleeping around. I heard someone say that she got thrown out of her old hospital because she slept with some interns and apparently it didn't ended too well." Another woman said before taking a shot.

"Really? I would've never guessed that! I heard her family disowned her and she couldn't stand staying in her old city." A man now said as he it some of the peanuts in his mouth.

"Where do you all know that from? I heard noting of that." Again, another of the nurses said.

Callie chuckled to herself. She would love to know who they are talking about.

"I'm surprised she isn't here to pick up women again."

After around thirty minutes, the gossiping was slowing down by time, Callie payed her drinks and left.

Not caring about the time in Seattle, she picked up her phone and dialed her best friends number.

"Hey Torres, how's New York treating you?" The male voice asked cheerfully.

"It is ok I guess. I found a bar a few hours ago, sat there and listened to gossip. Over time I talked with some people but no one was interesting enough to keep up. Anything new in Seattle?"

"Yang was hit with an icicle. Ever since, Yang is head over heals with the new ginger." Mark casually said.

"Like the dark, twisty Cristina Yang? She wasn't serious with anybody since... I don't believe I've ever seen her with someone actually." It made Callie wonder what she had missed already. She wasn't gone that long yet, in fact, she was only gone for three days.

"How's your lab partner?" The male voice asked through the phone.

"She's something to deal with. She has quite the attitude. First she asked me if I needed a ride to a restaurant but got mad when it talked about George, today she excused herself, telling me to never say something like that again. She's pretty weird." Callie said laughing, thinking about the blonde.

"What's her name?" For Callie's liking mark asked way too many questions. Usually when he would do it he was imagining the woman laying naked in front of him. Callie scrunched her face in disgust.

"Robbins. I didn't bother remembering her first name tho. Alabama or something like that." Callie said, knowing she couldn't care less about the real name.

"Never heard of her. How's she looking?" Callie rolled her eyes, this was a tipical Mark question.

"Blonde hair, blue eyes. She has dimples. Why are you asking me that?"

"Just checking in. How tall is she?"

"A little bit shorter then I am." Calle answered, deciding to not give a damn about Marks intuitions. They wouldn't meet anyway and if, Callie didn't gave a crap about it.

It was obvious to Mark that Callie wasn't the biggest fan of her current lab partner. Callie was trapped in New York for quite a while now, which meant that she would spent most of her time with Blondie.

"But my boss is actually pretty great. Dr. Taylor. She drove me back to my apartment when Robbins just stood up and left. I believe Robbins and Taylor are kinda close." This got Mark's attention. Without actually seeing Mark, Callie knew what he was thinking. "Dr. Taylor has a husband and three kids, so don't even think about it." The latina quickly added. "I don't think Robbins would ever do a girl. She has like the biggest branch in the ass." Callie had to laugh at her own comment at her work partner.

"Really? Damn and I hoped she'd keep you on tract like I usually do." The man said playfully. Callie couldn't help but let her eyes roll. Sometimes she asked herself why she was even friends with Mark.

"I have to go now, sorry Marky." Callie said, pronouncing the nickname for Mark.

"Night Torres! Hear ya later?"

"Hear ya later!" Callie conformed. Just a few short moments they hung up.

Day one of an unknown amount of days was done. Now she only had to learn how to deal with her blonde lab partner.

But it couldn't be too hard, could it?
