AN: I saw "Wish" on opening day and it was amazing! The characters were a lot of fun (especially the villain King Magnifico and Asha's sidekick, Star), and while the songs were hit-or-miss ("Knowing What I Know Now", "This Wish", and "This is the Thanks I Get?" were standouts, but "You're a Star" was pretty forgettable), I think it's a movie worth going to see in theaters, especially if you're a Disney fan. Now there won't be any major spoilers for the movie in this chapter, but there will be light discussions about certain aspects of "Wish" at the start of the chapter. With that being said, enjoy!
"Ah, post-holiday blues…" Logan sighed. "How much longer until Christmas comes around?"
"Too long if you ask me," Destiny said.
"You two need to learn to be patient," Jasiri giggled. "Our lives are already interesting without holidays. I think they would lose some magic if all the holidays were so close together, you know?"
"Agreed," Gabriel nodded. The four of them were currently meeting up at a café on Main Street, their first time seeing each other since Thanksgiving had ended. "Luckily I managed to get all of the Christmas shopping done before Black Friday, so there's one less thing to worry about in December."
It was then that they were approached by Aline, Silver, and Staghart, the Lolita girl looking a bit grumpy as she sat down. "Hey Aline! What's going on?" Logan asked.
"Aline's just salty that she lost a bet to Silver," Staghart whispered.
"I thought that Asha was going to be the next Disney Princess, but then we went and saw the movie together… and now I owe Silver money," Aline muttered.
"To be fair, she may not have ended the movie the princess, but I would argue that where she did end up might be-" Silver started to say.
"NO SPOILERS!" Logan shouted, his hand shooting out to cover Silver's mouth.
"You really need to get to seeing movies faster," Gabriel laughed. "But I take it you two enjoyed your time at least?"
"Obviously," Aline nodded. "Silver and I were planning on still inviting Asha to hang out with the other Disney girls anyways."
"And who knows? She might still get the Mulan treatment down the line," Silver added.
"So, if we're all here right now, how about we go and do something instead of just sitting around?" Jasiri suggested.
As she said that, Gabriel's phone started ringing. "Oh, looks like it's a call from Lena. I wonder what she's calling about…?" He picked up the phone and was immediately assaulted by the sound of various explosions going off in the background of the call.
"Gabriel? Are you there?" Lena asked.
"Yep, I'm here, Lena," Gabriel replied.
"Good. Do you think that you could come by Almyra's boutique as soon as possible? I'm with Uncle Poe and Rachel and-" Everyone at the table winced as the sound of a dragon roaring went off. "…Well, let's just say that what we were trying to do has quickly been derailed by an angry bridezilla."
The group looked in confusion as the call was hung up. "Bridezilla? Is someone getting married?" Destiny questioned.
Logan and Aline shared a look. "I might have an idea… but Rachel needs us, so let's go!" Logan declared, running off down Main Street.
"Epcot is the other direction!" Gabriel called.
Logan swiftly turned around. "Now we go to help Rachel!"
Jasiri laughed. "Some things never change."
[***]
The gang all soon arrived in the Paris Pavilion of Epcot where Almyra's shop was, finding the building in distress as both Lena and Poe were suddenly flung out of the building, being caught by Logan and Staghart.
"Ah, you've arrived," Poe said with relief. "Lena did say she called you. As you can see, Rachel's Dragon Queen persona has gone out of her control as of late."
"I thought she has reconnected with her old mentor or something to better control this power," Logan questioned.
"Even those with control can sometimes slip backwards from time to time," Aline said. "But Rachel needs us to calm her down, so let's do that."
"Destiny, Logan, Jasiri, you three put out any of the fires you find around here. Silver and Staghart, you two help Poe and Lena keep Rachel contained while Aline and I calm her down," Gabriel commanded.
"Right!" Everyone nodded as they ran off to do their tasks.
"And please do try to save my dresses while you're in there!" Almyra called.
The group got to work, with Destiny and Logan using water and ice magic respectively to put out the flames while Poe called on his magic to jump in and put a muzzle around Rachel's mouth, stopping her from spewing more flames. Staghart used his strength to pin her tail down while Silver pulled out his magic paintbrush and created elastic bands to hold Rachel's wings down, while Lena restrained her talons from swiping at everyone. As that was going on, Gabriel and Aline called on Fantasia, creating a soothing melody to reach out to Rachel's human side.
The dragon's eyes suddenly lulled as the music got to her, flames racing over her body as the Dragon Queen was quelled and Rachel returned to her human form. "Ugh… what happened…?" she asked.
"Rachel!" Poe gasped, holding his fiancé close.
"You may have gone a bit Bridezilla on these guys," Aline said.
"Oh… Sorry about that," Rachel apologized.
Jasiri gasped the pieces suddenly fell into place. "Wait, Rachel and Poe are getting married!?"
"This is a surprise for me too," Gabriel admitted. "I mean, I heard that you two were engaged, but I didn't expect your wedding to be happening soon."
"We have it all planned out, but we hit a snag when it came to picking out a dress," Poe explained.
"Yeah, Rachel was really stressing out about this and kinda lost control of her dragon side due to the stress," Lena added.
"At least there isn't too much damage to the shop," Almyra sighed in relief. "At least, nothing that can't be fixed in due time. I may have to as Kanga to come by and help at the shop again, though, just so I can make all the Christmas orders on time this year."
"If you need help choosing a dress, Rachel, then allow me to assist," Silver offered. "I do work with the princesses, after all, so I know how to choose the perfect dress for your wedding."
"Thank you, Silver," Rachel smiled. "I guess I should have reached out to you guys for help with this stuff, huh?"
"You always do well on your own, Rachel, but there's no shame in asking for help," Logan chuckled. "Trust me, I should know after all the inner darkness I've had to deal with in the past."
"We'll help out too!" Aline cheered, nodding alongside Jasiri and Destiny. "We're going to make this the best wedding ever!"
"Out of curiosity, what time do you plan to have the wedding?" Staghart asked.
"It's going to be on New Years Eve at Disney Castle. It's practically the main event to bring in the new year," Rachel replied.
"Then allow the rest of us to help you get ready for it," Gabriel said.
"Here's a list we made," Poe said, handing over a sheet of paper to the raven.
Gabriel looked it over and hummed. "Okay, it looks like a lot of this is done already, which is good. Looks like all we need now is to have the cake prepared, send invitations to all the people on the guest list, and acquire a band to play at the wedding."
"And Aline, Silver, and I will take care of the dress for the bride and the suit for the groom," Almyra added.
"Okay then, let's split this into teams," Logan nodded. "I've trained with Rachel for a while now, so I know what kind of music she'd want. I'll team up with my students and track down the perfect band for the wedding!"
"I'll call up Melody, Toren, and Adam to acquire the cake," Lena said, pulling out her phone. "I'm sure Toren can find us the best bakers in the Magical World to make the cake for you guys. After all, if my dad's going to get married, he needs the best cake around!"
"That leaves me to go and get all the letters of invitation sent out," Gabriel finished, nodding his head. "Team Dream Keeper will have that done in a flash!"
"…There is one special letter I need to go with you to send, though," Poe said, getting a concerned look from Rachel.
"Honey, do you really have to give her a letter?" Rachel asked.
"She's my sister, dear Rachel, and even if she's put my family though a lot, I do still love her as my sibling," Poe replied. "I've put off revealing to Magica that I've returned to my normal form for too long now. I do not expect any of you to forgive her for what she's done, but I want to give my sister a chance to see me again as I move on to a new part of my life."
"Eh, I'm already over my trauma involving Aunt Magica for the most part, so seeing her have to play nice at a wedding might actually be amusing," Lena shrugged. "It's more Jameson we should be worried about I think."
"We'll make sure the little guy knows his mother might be showing up," Logan said.
"So, it sounds like we have a plan," Gabriel nodded. "Well then, let's get going, team! Time for Operation: Perfect Wedding!"
Author's Note
That's right, the final arc of the year is Rachel and Poe's wedding! The nerves are getting to Rachel about the event, but her friends were there to calm her down from going full Bridezilla in her Dragon Queen form. The next three chapters will be dedicated to each of the three tasks mentioned: getting a band for the wedding, making the cake, and sending out invitations, including one to Magica De Spell herself. The wedding will take place on New Years Eve, with a special Christmas chapter in between focusing on Gabriel's team one last time.
Also as an update to a previous announcement, the two spin-offs that I announced for the Magical World have been reduced down to just one, being the one about Gabriel's next move as a character. If you're wondering, I want to write more stuff outside of Magical World content, and to do that I had to axe one of the spin-offs so I have more time for myself to do that. The spin-off story will be fully announced during the Christmas chapter, so stay tuned for that.
Next Time: Logan and his students go and find the perfect band for the wedding!
Now then, I want all of you to help out for this arc, so let's start with the first task: Which band will play at the wedding? It can be any band within the Magical World, or a new group made up of Magical World musicians. The choice is up to you guys!
