Chapter 9: Lunar Drop Pt 2
FIA Agent/Commander Jackson is getting reports about a group of V's Allies trying to take Lucy off the moon. "Seems like they made their move, kill them all and make sure Lucy's head is intact," he ordered.
"Yes sir," several groups of Militech soldiers are moving into the apartment complex wiping out anyone who is not with them.
Jackson looks over his full cyborg body to check his systems. "I might need to get involved if things get too hot out there," Jackson said as he noted the militias of the city are moving in to get in the way. "This will make things more complex but nothing we can't handle,"
Cortez, Rebecca, Michiko, and Lucy are running through the hallways to hear gunfire and explosions outside and inside shaking the building. "Gee, it's a warzone out there," Cortez said looking out the window to see fighting between Militech and Wells' Militia forces.
"These people here value their freedom. They have a low tolerance for Corpos," Lucy said.
'Well, they are going to get a dose of reality," Michiko said as she wielded her Rajiu SMG to see a few soldiers coming their way.
"They are this way," Militech soldiers open fire as they slide behind cover. Michiko fires her burst weapon to cut through their armor to put them down.
"Got to fight our way out of here," Rebecca said as she fired her revolver to take out the head of a soldier with a solid shot.
Lucy activates her smart link to fire rapid shots to hone onto their heads to cut through them. She chains up quick hacks to unleash Contagion to spread making their cyberware leak toxics into their bloodstreams killing them swiftly to spread to other soldiers.
Cortez lands headshots from his Achilles as he charges up a shot to pierce through a cover and take out another soldier. He uses Cripple Movement to disable the cyber legs of soldiers to make them vulnerable to powerful headshots.
Rebecca slides to use her shotgun to blast the soldiers into piles of gore. She tosses a Gash grenade with arcs of lasers cutting and slicing Militech troops into bloody bits.
She jumps into the air and slams her hands onto the floor to make it collapse causing the men and women to fall to die from the big drop. She comes in and thrusts her whole hand through the chest of a soldier destroying his heart and killing him easily.
Michiko is using her Raiju to pick off troops through cover and tossing a flashbang to blind the rest. She swiftly comes in with her sword and slices it into pieces.
"How cute you are fighting against?" Jackson's voice came onto their comms.
"I guess you lead these forces here?" Cortez asked.
"Yep, I do. Too bad you could be here helping out but you are with those savages, traitor," Jackson said having venom in his voice not liking Cortez being a traitor to his nation.
"Better with the nomads and not commit war crimes for the greater good," Cortez mocks him.
"Myers has big plans to bring America back to its full glory. Night City will be next in coming into the fold," Jackson said as everyone was shocked by this.
"Are you serious?" Cortez asked.
"Yes, Myers is building up her forces as we speak to invade the city. Bringing back into NUS hands, without Arasaka getting in the way, it will be very easy," Jackson said.
"You know the Free States are not going to like this," Cortez said.
"Like we care. Arasaka was the only reason they were let off the hook and now due to Miss Arasaka's little civil war with her uncle. It's the perfect time to strike," Jackson said.
"Fuck that's not good," Rebecca said as they confront more soldiers on their way to the exit.
"Okay, we need to split up. I will hit them where it hurts," Michiko activates her Optical Camo making them surprised she can do that.
"she can turn invisible," Lucy said.
"Our Arasaka princess has a bag of tricks," Rebecca said as she used Guts to blast a soldier to split him in half. She tosses a flashbang to blind a group of soldiers as Cortez fires his Kenshin to fire several bursts into the chests and heads of the Militech troopers to wipe them out.
He grabs a fallen Crusher full auto shotgun which has a drum magazine of 25 rounds of 12 gauge shells. He starts pumping buckshot into the incoming troops to drop them onto the floor.
Lucy is stunning and crippling their movements with her hacking with Rebecca and Cortez finishing them off. "Thanks, babe for the backup," Rebecca said.
"Watching your backside is always a treat for the eyes," Cortez said as Rebecca glowed in the face.
"Damn big guy, did you have enough of my booty last night?" Rebecca asked as she shot a trooper in the head with a slug leaving the woman headless.
"With a plump ass like that, I can't help myself," Cortez said to set the last soldier on flame to clear out the area.
Lucy looks confused by this. "Seriously, you two are dating?" Lucy looks surprised as this pissed off Rebecca.
"What the fuck is that supposed to be. I can get a guy too, you are not the only one," Rebecca said as she felt Cortez tapping her ass bouncing in her hot pants.
"Good job Spitfire," Cortez said as Rebecca playfully hit his arm.
"You too big guy," Rebecca gives him a cute little wink.
"Goodness, Rebecca can get a boyfriend with her fiery personality," Lucy thought as she could see something had changed within Rebecca.
"We can catch up later, we need to keep moving," Rebecca said as Michiko approached the roof of the apartment to see the city was on fire with the Wells Milita going to war with Militech in the streets. Echoes of gunfire and explosions spread throughout the city.
"What a mess for some bullshit Blackwall project," Michiko said as she is finds several soldiers on top.
"Indeed, the militia are based in the spaceport. Holding it down, they are holding their own for now," Klunk said via comms. "Watch it, mortar crews are shelling the buildings with Militia troops inside. Using white phosphorus on them," Klunk said feeling sorry for them to hear their painful screams to be engulfed by flames that don't easily get put out.
"The bastards are speed-running war crimes like it's going out of fashion," Michiko said as she used her Nekomata sniper rifle to begin sniping the mortar crews who were setting sections of the city in flames.
"Shit, they have armored assets within the city. Minotaurs, Centaurs, PACs, and Octants," Klunk said scanning through the city's cameras to see all the hardware Militech has sneaked into the domed city.
"Not good, they want this cold brat that badly," Michiko said to land headshots from far away for she used her cloaking to disappear from view to reengage.
The group goes into a lobby with two Minotaurs armed with smart HMGs and begins to pepper them. Rebecca took a few hits but she backed away.
"Rebecca, are you okay?" Lucy asked curiously as those 50 BMG rounds knocked her back a bit.
"No sweat, I am fine. I got badass skin weave called Dragon Silk," Rebecca said as Dragon Silk is a top-of-a-line Bioware skin weave making her smooth organic flesh much tougher than Kevlar or titanium. "Better than Subdermal armor and much lighter too," Rebecca said.
"You used Bioware?" Lucy asked as they scattered to avoid the barrage of smart rounds trying to hit them. She managed to overheat the mech doing some damage while hitting I with her Kappa.
"Yeah, I got it in DreadZone to improve my chances to tank more hits. Along with Adrenaline Rush mod and Berserk OS, I can deal and take lots of damage. Also, it heals me much faster too as a bonus," Rebecca said as she activated Adrenaline Rush to roll out and slide toward the mechs.
They fire their shots but Rebecca keeps going and blasting them with Guts destroying one of them and damaging the other. She goes up and tears the HMG off the side of the mech and smashes it on the side destroying it.
"Oh, I can't use this," she said as the smart variant of the HMG needs a smart link to work and Rebecca doesn't have one installed. "Oh well, it's broken anyway," Rebecca said as Cortez grabbed another Smart HMG which he can use as he has a smart link on his right hand.
"Now we are talking," Cortez said as they busted out the door to be on the streets with him letting loose a barrage of smart bullets to lock onto the heads of Militech soldiers taking them out and leaving them headless.
"We are on the streets," Rebecca said on the comms with Michiko to finish off the mortar crews nearby.
"Good, I will support you above on the roofs. Keep moving towards the spaceport," Michiko said as she used a charge jump to leap over a gap to be on the next rooftop to see more Militech soldiers and Minotaurs.
"Get the Arasaka bitch," the soldier shouted as she pulls out her Raiju SMG to put several bursts to take out soldiers. She tosses an EMP grenade to disable a Minotaur for a short moment to take out the soldiers with her submachine gun.
They can see Michiko on the rooftops as Cortez pulls out his arm launcher to fire thermal grenades to melt away mechs and soldiers. He aims his projectile launcher to take down the Minotaur to aid Michiko.
"Thanks for the help," Michiko said as she finished off the wounded soldiers with her Raiju SMG.
"No problem," Cortez said as the trio saw the carnage outside to see battles with the local Militia with invading Militech soldiers and armor.
"What a mess," Rebecca said as Lucy looked guilty at this to see the city was ablaze with combat.
"Is this my fault?" he questioned not feeling good about all the innocent people dying because of her presence within the city.
"No Myers is the one at fault. She is beyond ruthless, her typical MO. We need to get out here," Cortez said as Rebecca nodded her head.
"That's right, that bitch is going to pay for what she did to Falco and these people," Rebecca getting upset with this.
"Yeah," Lucy focuses on hacking into turrets set up on the streets to make them attack their guys to cut them down. She lines up smart shots to nail them in the heads to take them down.
"Do not let them get into the spaceport," the Militech sergeant said as he got sniped by Michiko from the rooftops to go into her camo mode to disappear to line up more shots to vaporize their heads into red mist.
Rebecca hardens her skin to tank several shots as she uses her shotgun to blast apart the turrets and troops scattering their broken husks across the streets. "Fucking bastards," Rebecca rushes up and drives her fist through the chest of the soldiers to use her as a meat shield to block a few shots.
She pulls the grenade on her belt and tosses her into a group of enemies to take out the squad.
"I can see you on the cameras," Klunk said as he began to take over the local machines to hack them and make them fall and crush several groups of Militech groups.
"Good work Tin Man," Cortez said as he placed shots from his Achilles precision rifle to destroy the heads of the remaining soldiers.
"I got full control of the city's systems. I will aid you in getting back to the spaceport," Klunk said as he overloaded a generator to fry a group of soldiers.
"You guys got an AI working with you?" Lucy asked sounding concerned.
"Don't worry he is harmless besides he is a shell that limits his power. He can only hack directly into something," Cortez said.
"Sorry that I make you uncomfortable Miss Lucy," Klunk said sounding saddened by this.
"It's okay, it's just I have a bad experience with Ais," Lucy said as she rolled to a piece of
"Understandable, your missions beyond Blackwall would leave you with a bad experience. Trust me, some Ais are pretty left alone but that mad woman would want to use you to control the Blackwall itself," Klunk said as Lucy was both disturbed and shocked by this.
"Controlling the Blackwall itself?" Lucy thought this sounded crazy but Klunk was dead serious. The trio are avoiding grenades and gunfire as Rebecca leaps onto a trooper to put rounds into her skull. She uses her legs to toss her into a group of enemies to put several shots into the trooper.
Michiko fires focused shots to take off mortar teams and other snipers on the rooftops.
"Yes, Myers wants you to become a weapon of mass destruction. One that would tip the balance of power in the geopolitical sphere. We must save you and get you off this rock," Klunk said as he triggered a stream of flames to burn a squad of Militech soldiers.
"PAC coming in," Rebecca said as the 9-foot mech unleashed their dual minigun arms to tear up the environment.
"Damn, that thing is tough to crack," Michiko said as she fires her Nekomata but the charged shots did little damage.
"Kill the Arasaka bitch," the pilot unleashes waves of missiles to pepper the building Michiko is on. She uses her Sandy to gain a huge speed boost to race off the roof as the barrage levels the whole building into rubble.
"Michiko!" Cortez asked on the radio.
"I am okay, use my Sandevistan to get the fuck out of there," Michiko lands on a pile of beds to get to the street level to wield her sword to see a bunch of enemy troops firing at her. She uses her swift movements to dodge and deflect the bullets away with her sword skills.
She lunges forward and slashes and severs the limbs of Militech troopers. She draws her Raiju with one hand to shoot them in the head easily cutting through their helmet.
"That PAC is crazy," Rebecca said as the mech has leveled an entire building. She sees the APS on the central pod of the mech. "I need to destroy that," Rebecca said as she pulled out her Overture to look through the scope to fire a few shots to disable the APS.
"Good work, we need rockets to blow it up," Cortez said as Lucy tried to hack it but the ICE within the mech blocked her out. Cortez fires a burst of grenades from his projectile launcher to do some damage but it is not enough.
Lucy finds a dead soldier who has an RPG-A launcher. "Hey Cortez, duck," Lucy fires the RPG-A to slam into the PAC heavily damaging the core unit protecting the pilot.
"Shit, you are not getting away," the PAC lobs waves of missiles to pepper the area with the explosions rocking them around the broken streets.
"Guys, are you okay?" Klunk questioned as he operated a crane that held a large shipping crate. "Take this," Klunk swings the big crate to crash into the large mech sending it flying into a building falling on top of the wounded mech.
"Yeah little guy, we got this," Rebecca climbs onto a building to see the busted mech below as she cracks her robotic knuckles. "Time for a fatal drop," she leaps off the building to slam her fists onto the ground to unleash a big shockwave that blows away soldiers and the mech.
"You little bitch," the PAC gets up to unload a barrage of bullets to head for Rebecca.
"Rebecca, get out of the way," Lucy said as Rebecca activated her Berserk mode to supercharge up her body making her skin very dense and her healing factor go crazy. She tanks several shots from the minigun as she uses her new speed to rush toward the beastly machine.
"Get the fuck out of my way," Rebecca leaps forward and lets out a powerful punch which is enough to knock the mech onto the ground further damaging its pod. "Babe, now," Rebecca said as Cortez grabbed the launcher and fired a rocket to strike the pod to destroy the PAC.
Rebecca switches off the Militech Berserk to resume to normal as she finishes off the fallen soldiers she strikes down with her strong shockwave. "Rebeca, that was crazy using a Berserk OS like that but it is fitting for you," Lucy said.
"Surprised, I kept my Cyberware usage as efficient as possible. No waste and kept my natural look intact," Rebecca said as she used her Lexington to put rounds into Octant heavy drone. She rolls out of the way of a barrage of missiles as she tosses an EMP grenade to knock it out of the air. It falls onto the ground as Rebecca destroys it with Guts turning it into scrap metal.
"Seems like she learned from David's mistakes," Lucy thought as she noticed how mature Rebecca was acting and approaching battles.
Commander Jackson can see the group is heading for the spaceport cutting a path to them. "Cortez, the traitor has come to meet his fate," Jackson said as he began to set up an ambush along with his group of Cyber Commandos. "Guys, time to see an old friend," Jackson said as the three Cyber Commandos were mad at the mention of his name.
"Went off to play savage and fucking some whore. Oh, how the mighty have fallen," one of the commandos said as they prepared to strike them at the spaceport.
The group got to the entrance to see the entrance was breached with lots of dead Militia members on the ground. "Time to wipe them out," three Centaur exoskeleton units approach with riot shields in one arm and rail guns on the other.
"Almost there and we can get off this rock," Michiko said as she fired a charged shot that pierced through the riot shield to damage the suit.
"Don't let them through," the soldiers are firing their heated arm cannons with Klunk triggering a car and making it crash into one of the Centaur units to smash them into a wall. Klunk makes the car explode killing the soldier instantly.
Cortez and Lucy use hackings to shut down the Centaur with Michiko putting a round into the guy's head. "Everyone, I am disconnecting. I will be meeting you at the entrance," Klunk said as he cut off the line to speed off to activate his cloaking.
Rebecca is dodging the incoming last Centaur's shots. She uses her strength to rip off The riot's shield and she tears off the guy's head to clear the way into the embattled spaceport.
"Getting a Netrunner through an embattled spaceport. Sounds like V and Songbird," Cortez thought as he remembered the tales of V and Songbird working together to fend off the NUS military within the Night City Spaceport while saving Songbird.
"I am back," Klunk said as he got onto Rebecca's back.
"That's cute, got him like a backpack," Lucy said.
"We make one wick team," Rebecca said as she felt safer with Klunk on her back.
"You are going to need it. The commander and his commandos are inside. They are trying to destroy the shuttles," Klunk said.
"Damn it, we got this far and we are not going to be trapped on this rock," Michiko said.
"We will deal with the commander while you go after the shuttle to keep it safe," Rebecca said.
"Okay, you can do this. Commander Jackson is a blowhard but he is tough. He got a Sandy, just a head's up," Cortez said.
"I have dealt with Sandy users before. I got this baby," Rebecca said as they gave each other a kiss for good luck. "Be careful," Rebecca said as Cortez had a cheesy grin.
"Alright, time to split," Cortez said as they split up with Lucy and Rebecca preparing to fight against Commander Jackson.
"Did he just say that?" Lucy asked as Rebecca sighed.
"Yeah he says corny lines like that but he says with such gusto. I respect it and make him cute," Rebecca said.
"You two are made for each other," Lucy said dryly as they approached the lobby to see it was a mess of bodies and equipment.
"I can detect him, watch out," Klunk said as Rebecca felt her legs collapse making her fall onto the floor.
'Fuck, he disabled my knees," Rebecca said as everything below thighs was Cyberware.
"Good thing my commandos quickhack you through one of the cameras," Jackson said as he appeared before them. "Seems like the slut has managed to bring the prize to me directly. Myers will be very pleased," Jackson said as they see he is a full borg with almost all his body being cyberware.
"Oh shit," Lucy said as she draws her Kappa but Jackson uses his Apogee Sandevistan to avoid her shots and strike her on the chest with a palm strike sending her flying across the room. She crashes and slides into a wall to spit blood onto the floor. "Fuck, that hurts,"
"Don't resist. You will become Myer's right-hand woman and aid her in protecting America's best interests," Jackson said.
"By becoming her slave, as if," Lucy tries to quickhack him but he blocks it with ICE making it useless.
"Rebecca, jack me into your neck slot. I will fix your problem," Klunk said.
"I need to invest into Self ICE imprint to stop this," Rebecca said as she grabbed Klunk's jack-in plug to insert into her neck slot.
"You should, anyway. I will get you running again," Klunk undue the quickhack and fixed her limbs.
"Perfect, time for payback," Rebecca lunges and strikes Jackson in the back with a powerful punch to knock him away from Lucy. "Get away from her, you bastard," Rebecca said as Jackson felt pain from that.
"How dare you. It's insane to think Cortez would betray us but to fall for a little whore like you is reaching a new low," Jackson said.
"Cortez was right to abandon you. You are murdering innocent people and treating this like a walk on a beach. You suck majorly," Rebecca said as Lucy is beside her. "Back me up," Rebecca said as Lucy nods her head.
"You got it," Lucy said.
"Just like old times right?" Rebecca asked as Lucy had a faint smile on her worried face.
"Yeah it does, let's take this fucker out," Lucy said as the two women prepare for a big fight.
"You will know the full might of the American war machine. We will not give you any mercy. We will…" Jackson got shot by Rebecca with a 4 gauge slug from Guts.
"Gee, you talk way too much. Just fight already," Rebecca said as she moved in with her Overture firing magnum shots with Lucy scanning the area to see openings with her hacking.
"Rebecca, these grenades will help," Klunk said as Rebecca got Riot and EMP grenades.
"Perfect," Rebecca said as Jackson used his Sandy to gain his speed trying to blitz Rebecca but Klunk moved backward to avoid the speedy strike.
"Hold still," Jackson said as Rebecca tossed a Riot Grenade which emits a stick foam that stops the cyborg dead in his tracks. "Fuck this," Jackson said as Rebecca grabs a crate and toss it at the cyborg to strike his head. She follows up with Klunk dashing her forward. Rebecca punched the agent in the face to send him flying into a generator.
Lucy hacks the generator to shock the cyborg as Rebecca fires her revolver to do more damage. "I killed Sandy users before and you will be no different," Rebecca said as Jackson heated his body to burn off the riot goo from his metal body.
"I am going to tear you up and spit you out. Little Shit," Jackson tries to grab Rebecca but she gets into a grapple with their hands linked together. Both trying to overpower the other.
Rebecca goes to headbutt Jackson and knocks him backward to follow up with rapid shots with her Lexington and punching him in the face to knock him onto the floor.
Lucy activates a hanging crate to drop it on Jackson to stun him while Rebecca delivers a powerful mule kick. Rebecca grabs his arm and begins to bash him on the floor like a hammer. She swings him around and tosses him through several piles of crates.
Lucy can detect him activating his Apogee as she pulls out her monowire to swing them in his direction. Rebecca," Lucy said as Rebecca tossed an EMP grenade to catch Jackson off guard to stun him to get hit with several monowire slashes to tear into his metal body.
"Damn it," Jackson said.
"Not so cocky now," Lucy said as she sees a bunch of fuel tanks to trigger them to explode to knock Jackson into the air. Rebecca leaps up as Klunk gives her a boost to be above Jackson.
"Eat this," Rebecca kicks him in the face to launch him across the room. Jackson fires his arm cannon which lands a hit on Rebecca.
"Rebecca!" Lucy said as she was in her Berserk state to tank the blast. She lands back onto the floor to emit a powerful shockwave which stuns the cyborg. She slides between his legs to use Guts to blow out his back exposing his spine. She drives her fist to destroy his spine making him flop onto the floor unable to move.
'Damn it," Jackson said.
"Not bad for a street slut right?" Rebecca mocks him.
"You don't get it, you are enemies of the state. Our madam president will stop at nothing to make America great once again," Jackson said but Rebecca destroyed his head with Guts to make him stop talking.
"Finally, he can finally shut the fuck up," Rebecca said.
"We need to help the others and get out of here," Klunk said as the two women ran towards the gunfire to see Cortez and Michiko fighting the Cyber Commandos who are putting up one hell of a fight. The docking bay is a mess from the fight.
"All units, Commander Jackson is dead. Repeat Commander Jackson has been flatlined," the voice said on the commandos' radio.
"Seriously a whore and a Netrunner took out Jackson," the commando said as Cortez managed to charge up a shot and punch through cover to snipe him in the head.
"Shit," the two other commandos were using their hacking to cause fuel tanks to explode spreading a fire within the docking bay.
"Rebecca. Get Lucy to the shuttle, we will catch up," Cortez said as he hacked a crane to make its chain slam into the Cyber Commandos to knock them onto the floor.
"Okay, come on Lucy," Rebecca said as they headed into the shuttle to see its secured and not destroyed.
"I am going to prepare the shuttle to launch," Lucy said as she hacks the shuttle while she closes the blast door. "Get in now!" Lucy said as Cortez and Michiko leaped through the thick doors to leave the Cyber Commandos behind.
"Well Cortez, you made your bed with the savages. A true traitor, you will regret being on the losing side soon," the soldier said as they went into the shuttle with Lucy and Klunk setting up the launch.
"Okay punch it," Cortez said as the shuttle used the mass driver to fly off the moon safely getting away to see the Earth in the background.
"Gee, that was close," Lucy said.
"Well, it was cool to be fighting beside you again," Rebecca said.
"Yeah like old times," Lucy said.
"Well, I am going to need you to stay with the Aldecaldos to set up your new identity. You will be safe within the FSA(Free States of America) regions due to tensions with the NUS( New United States)" Michiko said as the FSA consists of Arizona, Northern California, Colorado, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, and Wyoming with North California being the leader of the nation.
"Seems like my life is uprooted again," Lucy said as Rebecca was excited about this.
"Hey, we can be teammates," Rebecca said.
"She will be a guest, not a real nomad but that could change if possible," Cortez said as they headed for the NCX.
"What is the next move?" Lucy asked.
"We are based in Northern California and the hub is San Francisco. We are working with the local government to get work and set up supplies for our long trip to our new home," Cortez said.
"No more night city. We will be leaving it behind," Klunk said.
"I see, I have never been to San Francisco before," Rebecca said sounding excited.
"Yep, it's nice. Once we get Lucy a proper safehouse, we can go do real work and go the rounds in San Francisco and the region around it," Cortez said.
"Our route is through the free states if we go into NUS regions. We will be fired on sight but they have teams coming into these regions to cause trouble," Klunk said as the team managed to rescue Lucy and head back to leave Night City behind forever.
