"Oh my, oh my, oh my..." Melascula repeated, unable to understand what's going on. A tiny defenseless Elizabeth was literally sitting on the palm of her hand and the giant of giants was standing in front of her, near the size of Estarossa. "Dr-I mean, Mister. Wha- What is going on?!" She stammered, trying to still keep their identities hidden. "Don't worry, I'll explain everything later to you when the tournament's over. Just please keep Elizabeth safe." Drole pleaded.
"Uh...O-Okay..." Melascula sighed, still beyond confused. She looked down at the little Elizabeth in her hand. "Melascula, are you okay? You look a little lightheaded." Elizabeth asked caringly. Melascula quickly snapped out of it, her comforting nature kicking in. "Oh no no, I'm okay! Besides that tumble I took, I'm just confused. What happened to you and...him." She whispered, her finger gently rubbing Elizabeth's head.
"Oh...Well, I don't exactly know what happened myself but I'll explain it the best I can..."
The eight remaining contestants were led inside the hut. Zeldris, Estarossa, Gloxinia, an old man in an odd cloak, the green haired man, Taizoo, and a more normal looking man in a red jacket were all waiting patiently inside. The disguised Drole had been the last to step inside as the announcer shut the door behind him. Zeldris, Estarossa, and Gloxinia stuck together, watching the cloaked giant take stand near them.
"That guy's quite ominous. Think he's a Holy Knight too?" Gloxinia whispered to the two brothers. "Seems like it. His strength seems quite high, at least high enough to not to be an average fighter." Zeldris replied. "Sheesh, how many are we going to run into in this place?!" Estarossa muttered, stroking his chin. However, to their surprise, the man himself stepped up to them. Drole then lifted up his cloth mask, revealing himself to his friends. "Hey, guys!" He said cheerfully. The trio's eyes shot open. "DRO-"
Zeldris and Estarossa quickly covered Gloxinia's mouth with their hands. Drole piling his on top, his mask drooping over his face. Everyone in the room was staring at the four, they had to think of something quick. "Uh...My name's Dolor, silly stranger. Not whatever you were about to call me." Drole awkwardly shoved out. "Oh yes, nice to meet you, Dolor. What a surprise to see someone like you here." Estarossa added.
Everyone seemed to have bought it, causing the mini group to relax themselves. "Okay...Dolor, what happened to you?" Gloxinia asked with a quieter voice, his mouth now free. "Well, it's a bit confusing. It started with me and Elizabeth just relaxing in the forest...
Earlier that same day, Drole was watching Elizabeth closely. She was gathering any regular ingredients that she could find, although not having a clue what was poisonous or not. Luckily, she had Drole to help her. "What are these red mushrooms called?" She asked curiously, pointing to them.
"Oh, those are pine mushrooms. Pretty nutritious and delicious when cooked properly!" Drole explained, giving Elizabeth all she needed to go ahead and start picking them.
Drole smiled softly as he closed his eyes. He was enjoying spending time with Elizabeth. However, the thought of the tournament just wouldn't leave his head no matter how much strived to put it off. He couldn't fight it. He was still upset that he couldn't enter it. "I wonder what everyone's up to..." He murmured.
"Ahh!" He heard Elizabeth shriek. In a panic, he looks over to where he heard her. "What happened, Elizabeth?!" He called out. Elizabeth had fallen back in fear at the sight of a tall, wide, and somehow moving mushroom creature. "Huh?" Drole said, getting closer. The mushroom may be taller than Elizabeth but Drole, of course, was way bigger than it. "What the heck is this thing?" He asked, picking it up with his top left hand. However, the giant didn't realize how terrified he made it. Its eyes scrunched up as he suddenly blew a pinkish power in his face. "AH! My eye!" He cried out, dropping it as he began rubbing his eye in pain. Elizabeth gasped in shock. "Drole, are you okay?!" She called out, before jumping back as the mushroom landed near her.
It sprayed the same powder once more before hopping away. Elizabeth shrieked, beginning to cough.
The two both coughed for a few more seconds until the powder cleared up, finally letting them see again. Drole rubbed his eye again, then looking around. "What in the..." He murmured, slowly looking around. The trees were bigger, bigger then he'd ever think anything could be then him. He then looked down, then gasping as he realized he was naked. The orange pants he was wearing surrounded him, as well now bigger than him. He picked up an edge of his pants, covering himself. "Elizabeth? Elizabeth?! What's going on?!" He exclaimed, looking for his friend. "Wha..." He heard from below. He turned to see Elizabeth's clothes on the ground with the now tiny princess there in between them.
"WE SHRANK!"
"And that's what happened." Drole finished, not realizing his hand was on top of Gloxinia's hair. "Will you cut it out?!" Gloxinia barked. Drole jolted his hand back with surprise. "Sorry, this is just so cool. Before now, all I could do is just imagine all of you so up close!" Drole exclaimed, then looking back and forth between Zeldris and Estarossa.
"Hmph...anyways, sounds like you and the Princess ran into a Matango. Probably got defensive and sprayed you with its spores." Gloxinia observed. "Where's Elizabeth now?" Zeldris asked. "Oh, I gave her to Mela outside."
"Wait, Drole! You do know Captain's having Mela sell the booze now, right?" Gloxinia asked worryingly. "Oh...Oh no, I forgot about that..." Drole replied, beginning to feel bad for Melascula. Estarossa sighed. "Buddy, you really should've stayed at the bar. Why did you enter the tournament?" He asked, his arms crossed. Drole froze, his voice cutting off. How was he to answer this?
"I...just needed a way to get close to all of you without any suspicion..." He forced out, looking away. "Hm. Well, I suppose that makes sense. Just make sure you keep your disguise in tact, alright?" Zeldris told. Drole couldn't tell if they all believed him or not but he just wanted to just move on to the next round.
"Hey, you guys made it!" They all heard from behind. The green hair man from before had also made it to the finals! "Well, what do you know?" Estarossa cheered. "I saw you guys out there, throwing a couple punks around. Quite the warriors you guys are, huh? By the way, I never did get your names."
"Oh..." Estarossa hesitated, struggling to think of something. If it takes any longer, he might come off as suspicious. "Zeldoris." Zeldris blurted out. He had remembered the name he signed up with, hoping everyone else would do the same. "Oh, right. I'm Rosetta." Estarossa then added. "Primrose!" Gloxinia said. "Dolor." Drole exclaimed, finishing the line of fake aliases. "How about you, friend?" Estarossa asked, turning the attention to the man. "Name's Howzer."
"Alright, everyone." The referee called out, then holding up a cup full of straws. "Each straw has a letter, the person who matches your letter will be your opponent." He added.
"Hm. Well then." Estarossa muttered, beginning the line to draw a letter. A.
Gloxinia was next. C.
After Taizoo received his, Zeldris stepped up. B.
After a minute or so, the match lineups were decided.
Estarossa looked over to Howzer, then showing him his A. Howzer smiled with excitement as he revealed the other A in his hand.
Zeldris heard thumps right behind, Taizoo had approached. "You may have gotten lucky but I'm gonna make you wish you hadn't entered, kid." Taizoo boasted. "Quite conceited, aren't you? Save the talk for the match, please." Zeldris replied with the usual reserved expression. "Why you..."
"Phew..." Gloxinia sighed in relief. If he had to fight Taizoo, he was done for. He looked around and noticed the old man sitting by the window. He was drinking away at a bottle of beer. "Uh, old man? Do you have C?" He asked. "Oh...m-me?" The man asked slurring. He showed his letter. To Gloxinia's delight, it was C! "Yes!" He cheered. "Huh?" The man replied, confused. "Oh uh...Nothing. Just excited for the match, that's all." The fairy lied. Gloxinia felt confident, almost certain already that the match was as good as won.
"Don't get ahead of yourself and grow cocky, boy." The old man suddenly said, sending a bit of chill. Gloxinia's thoughts stopped entirely as he slowly turning back to the old man. "Uh...what?" Gloxinia stammered. "Who knows? I may just be able to pull off a victory, hehe!" The old man then exclaimed. Gloxinia sighed, he almost forgot his adversary was drunk.
Last of all was D. The man in the red jacket was almost sweating when he realized who his opponent was. Drole however didn't seem to understand as he walked up to him. He held out his hand. "Can't wait to fight you!" He said joyously, ironically striking more fear into his pending foe's soul.
"Alright, the first match up is with those with C." The referee called out. Zeldris put his hand on Gloxinia's shoulder. "Good luck." He said with a solicitous smile. "Thanks, Captain but I think I'll be fine. It's only an old man, what's the big deal?" Gloxinia reassured confidently, taking a deep breath before stepping out with the old man.
Estaross crossed his arms. "He's gonna get his ass beat."
Zeldris sighed. "Have some faith, brother."
"Yeah, I bet he's show that old man who's boss!" Drole added.
Everyone exited the hut, Gloxinia and the old man stepped into the arena. Everyone who was waiting patiently for the next round to start began cheering. Some others however were having trouble standing. Melascula had done the best she can to sell the booze and that she did as she was out of stock in the first few minutes. Melascula herself stepped up the group with the bag in tow. The group noticed as she approached. "Hey, Captain. I-I finished..." She said, lightly holding up the bag. Zeldris' face lit up as he took it into his hands. He looked inside. The whole thing was full of gold! "Great! Wonderful job, Mela." He delightfully exclaimed. Melascula modestly smiled kindly, nodding in affirmation. "One thing though. "Dolor" said you have Elizabeth with you. Where is she?" Zeldris then asked.
Melascula then looked around lightly before then pointing to the chest pocket on her maid dress. "Hm?" Zeldris muttered, looking to where she was pointing. Elizabeth then began to peek out from the pocket area. Not too much because of the no clothes situation but enough to where everyone could see her. "H-Hello, Sir Zeldris." The princess said, awkwardly waving. Zeldris and Estarossa then blushed, their eyes wide open. For that moment, their was completely speechless. "Um, Sir Zeldris? Sir Estarossa? Are you okay?" Elizabeth asked, worried.
Zeldris quickly regained his composure as he cleared his throat. "Sorry, I was just surprised." He reassured. "Maybe it is a good thing you're out after all, Mela. Keeping the princess safe and all. She seems quite comfortable in there." Estarossa observed. "Oh well, it is cozy, I suppose, but I do wish I had some clothes..." Elizabeth admitted, blushing intensely. "Don't worry, the powder's effects shouldn't last for too much longer. You'll be back to full size soon enough." Melascula clarified, once again giving Elizabeth's head soft strokes with her finger. "Although, Elizabeth. You might wanna relax on saying our names out loud." Estarossa advised. "Oh, right...Sorry." Elizabeth replied. "Oh guys, they're getting started!" Drole exclaimed excitedly. Everyone turned towards the arena. Gloxinia and the old man faced each other.
"The next match is ready to begin! Standing at 5 foot 8, 117 pounds: Primrose! His opponent Cain!" The referee called out. Some viewers were already doubting Gloxinia at his appearance. "He's a kid!" Someone yelled. The other commandment's watched intently. "I wonder what he'll do, I've never seen "Primrose" fight without Basquias before." Drole said. "Really? I haven't either but I figured you may have, "Dolor"." Melascula added, putting her finger to her chin. "I have and believe me, it's great." Estarossa said.
Zeldris noticed Cain's drunken stature. "Wait, Mela? Did he by any chance buy some of the booze?" Zeldris asked. "He was the first in line to buy." Melascula answered, shocked one of the customers was one of the remaining contestants.
Gloxinia looked straight at his opponent. "Cain, huh?" Gloxinia said, crossing his arms. "Yep, hehehe." Cain replied, barely able to stand. "Now that I think about it, he might need a cane himself." Gloxinia thought to himself, a little annoyed; "No matter. Since he's probably too drunk to fight, I'll simply just take my chances and strike him down!".
Gloxinia quickly began rushing towards Cain, charging up a punch...only to trip on his own foot. The Commandment of Repose fell flat on his face.
Most of the crowd broke into laughter. Drole and Melascula's jaws dropped. "Wha..."Rosetta"! I thought you said he was great!" Drole exclaimed. "Huh? No, I didn't. I said it is great. Watching him fight without his weapon is freaking hilarious." Estarossa clarified.
Gloxinia quickly picked himself up, catching his breath. Although incredibly embarrassed, he kept focused. "Okay. I'll just have to try again!" Gloxinia planned as he prepared to rush the old man again. However, Cain suddenly began rushing towards him instead, throwing a punch his way! Surprised, Gloxinia quickly dodged. Now was his chance! Gloxinia punched Cain in face, knocking him back. Gloxinia smiled, one punch was surely all it would take.
BAM! Cain kicked Gloxinia on the jaw, sending him flying back! "A decent forward punch, Boy but your form needs work." Cain adviced, barely phased. Gloxinia laid on the ground in a daze. Who was this guy?! This clearly wasn't some feeble old man. "Hehe, you give up?" Cain asked. Gloxinia gritted his teeth. No. He couldn't go down to a simple kick...but wow, that kick really hurt. He picked himself up. "Okay. Attacking straight clearly isn't a good idea." Gloxinia analyzed quietly. He'd have to trick Cain into putting down his guard for him to strike.
He took a deep breath, then rushing forward again. He went for a punch to Cain's stomach with his left hand. Cain quickly reacted, blocking it with his hands. Something Gloxinia wanted him to do. With all the strength he could muster, he went for a punch with his right arm...
BAM! Again, Cain had reacted with a sharp knee to Gloxinia's chest. Gloxinia lightly spat up blood with coughs as he fell backwards again.
The Commandments and Elizabeth watched with shock, albeit Estarossa saw it all coming. "Oh, he's getting destroyed..." Drole muttered. "Yeah, fairies aren't really known for being all that durable." Estarossa explained.
Gloxinia breathed heavily. He couldn't what hurt more. The blow to his chest or to his pride. "You're way too predictable." Cain then told. "Oh come on, is he fighting me or instructing me?!" Gloxinia angrily thought. He coughed twice more before his determination took over. He forced himself back, Cain only sportsmanly watching. "You're quite a stubborn guy, aren't ya?" Cain asked. Gloxinia didn't even respond, once again going to attack.
The match just continued on. Gloxinia taking blow for blow with attack strategy failing and yet, the crowd just couldn't stop watching. He had fallen once again, heavily bruised and suffering cuts from the ground. Cain didn't say anything this time as he stood near him. "Can you stand, Primrose?" He asked. Gloxinia's fingers quivered ever so, then going motionless. Cain sighed as he turned away. This match was over...
He then suddenly heard slight motion behind him, he turned to see Gloxinia fully standing. Despite the pain and the injury, he was standing. Ready to fight once more as he put his arms up. Cain only smiled. Gloxinia's legs shook fiercely. His adrenaline was through the roof! He charged once more!
Cain jumped and kicked the man back, sending him flying back. "Gah!" Gloxinia gasped, flying backwards. Drole quickly reacted as he caught his friend with his top arms. Gloxinia was out of the ring. Now, the match was truly over.
"Primrose is out of the ring! Cain wins."
"You fought well, young man." He only said in regards to his defeated opponent. To his own surprise, "Primrose" had earned the old man's respect.
