Chapter 10: Who Let The Dogs Out
Beneath the Island of Themyscira… in a clearing in the middle of the Jungle of Pan…
Something big was leaving the Underworld.
Something very, very, very… big…
While this fact would not be immediately obvious to most mortals or even immortals for that matter, but to those few who did understand cross-dimensional transitions between the realms of the living and the dead, could definitely tell that something was currently clawing its way out of the dark depths of the earth, and moving fast towards the surface with purpose.
The continuous and very concentrated shaking of the ground was proof enough of that, as whatever it was dug its way up through many hundreds of tons of rock and dirt to reach the surface world, more specifically, the isolated realm of which the Amazons ruled over, the Island of Themyscira.
The creature in question knew he and his brothers were not only trespassing on another Olympians divine domain by coming to these surface lands, but he also knew that they did not have permission to leave the Underworld at this moment in time, much less to come to this isle of warrior women…
…but they had to…
…something had changed on this island in the last couple of years, there was something new here, some sort of new creature, unlike any animal the three of them had smelled before in their long lives.
The three of them had sensed it a long time ago, but had only really taken interest in it in the last couple of moons, like the larvae of a Demonic Flea who had just hatched from their egg to begin feasting on their blood, its presence had only just grown big enough to really be noticed by them…
Thank Rhea, it was not a Demonic Flea though, the three of them hated Demonic Fleas…
Whatever this strange new creature was, it had apparently sensed their presence as well, even far under the surface where their den was located within their master's domain, because on full moon nights, it would often call out to them with long and lone howls that echoed deep beneath the earth, howls that the three of them would often respond to with howls of their own in return.
However, despite their best attempts at establishing a lasting line of communication between themselves and this new unknown creature, the three brothers could not properly decipher the exact meaning of this night howler's message with so many layers of earth between them and him.
The three of them had spent many nights while out on guard duty discussing the night howler's message and what they should do about it. Was it an invitation by the howler? An offer to come roam and hunt atop the surface lands with him. Or was it a warning to stay away from this beast's apparent territory? Or even more serious, a challenge to the three of them for their own?
All three options were viable possibilities to the brothers, the youngest brother hoped it was an invitation to come run and play together, whilst the middle brother thought it was a challenge for their territory and they should respond to such a threat in kind and the eldest brother believed it to be simple warning for them to respect the boundary between themselves and this night howler's own hunting grounds, which in the older brother's opinion, was a fair enough request.
Still, from this distance, they could not be sure what the howls actually meant, only that they were for them and that they were coming from a creature that spoke in a tongue that they could understand, meaning that whatever strange new animal was, it was something similar to the three of them.
Something was calling them, and the three brothers had to find out what it was.
So, after one more full moon night of consistent, far-off howling from the world above, they came to an agreement on what to do, as soon as they thought the coast was clear, the three of them would quietly sneak away and dig their way up to the surface lands to investigate these howls at their source, the Island of Themyscira…
… and they were almost there, just a few more feet and they would reach the surface…
Suddenly, the great shaking of the ground ceased, almost abruptly and all was peaceful again…
Then, just a few moments later, the grassy green earth erupted in an explosion of dirt and debris, as what could only be described as a giant jet-black paw lifted itself out from the darkness of the hole and landed heavily on the torn-up ground with a thunderous slam, followed quickly by another equally huge paw as the beast they belonged to hauled itself up and out of the ground.
After pulling itself out of its freshly made tunnel and shaking its gigantic furry body clean of earthy residue, the three creatures allowed their red eyes to gaze around at their lush surroundings for a moment whilst they caught their breath, the youngest of the three letting out an almost appreciative growl as he did so.
This tropical island was nothing like their den back in the Underworld, everything was so bright, natural, and alive here, so unlike their master's dark domain along the River Styx where they liked to swim and splash along its banks, this patch of surface land could easily rival Elysia as a paradise, only their mistresses beautiful garden was more splendid.
That is not to say the three brothers did not love living with their kind master and their beloved mistress, they had both freedom and protection that most ancient Greek beasts didn't have, they had a noble purpose that they were proud to perform and all the free bones they could ever chew on, but there were times in their long existence where they did miss roaming around the surface lands as they wished…
… still, it was worth it, for the love of their master's mate, their surrogate mother, who like them, came from these sunny, surface lands long ago to make a new life down below the earth and who loved the three of them like they were her own sons…
The beast's surprisingly introspective train of thought was suddenly halted as an unexpected cool breeze brought with it the scent of the creature whose howling cries had drawn them out of the Underworld in the first place.
After sniffing the air intensely for a moment, the trio of beasts flattened their ears against their furry skulls as they all growled unison, they had found the scent they were looking for, it was closely intermingled with another scent on the breeze, two scents meant two creatures, and both were not very far away.
Appreciation of this islands beautiful, natural scenery would have to wait for now as well as reminiscing about their shared ancient past, now, it was time for the three brothers to hunt across the surface lands once again.
Stalking forward on huge four, furry feet with legs as big as tree trunks, the trio of beasts made their way out of the small clearing and into the surrounding tropical jungle with surprising stealth that no creature their size should possibly possess.
Whatever it was that had been calling them here to this hidden island paradise in the middle of the Aegean Sea, they would find it, and when they did, if the three of them ultimately deemed it to be a potential threat to themselves, their kind master, and their loving mistress's rule of the Underworld… then they would kill it…
…without hesitation.
Sometime later… in the Royal Palace of Hera…
"Look around you Diana, this island, this eternal paradise is our kingdom." Hippolyta said to her daughter as they both stood out on the throne room's grand open balcony, which allowed an expansive view of their island home, from the vast open plains, to the dense tropical jungles which crisscrossed by crystal clear rivers and lakes, fed by roaring waterfalls coming down from the mighty mountains.
Hippolyta smiled when she watched her daughter look out over the edge, her blue eyes going wide as they always did whenever she gazed out over their tribe's beautiful island home with her mother, it made the Queen of the Amazons happy that her daughter got to grow up in such a wonderful, peaceful place as Themyscira, a place so much like her old homeland of Amazonia where she grew up with her older sisters Antiope, Penthiselea and Thalestris.
"But most importantly of all Diana, this island is our home and our tribe's last safe haven from the cruel clutches of Man's World." Hippolyta continued, barely repressing the urge to shudder as the brief flashes of her sisterhoods torment at the hands of Hercules and his hordes crossed through her mind, she took a deep breath, pushed the painful memories away.
Thankful, Diana hadn't noticed her mother's momentary discomfort, as her daughter was too busy being enraptured with the magnificent site of their island kingdom far below them, so she continued. "It was gifted to us by the Goddess Hera after our tribe's Great Exodus from Amazonia during the Fall of Ancient Greece, my daughter, but it is my responsibility to rule over it wisely, to make sure our tribe takes care of it for the next generation of Amazons."
"Your generation, my Little Sunlight." Hippolyta said, looking down at her daughter with a warm smile spreading across her beautiful face.
"Wow." Was all Diana could say in response to that statement, it was not the first time the princess had been told of all this by her mother of course, they had numerous discussions similar to this one since her last birthday a few months ago, which had also celebrated the fact that her royal training as future Queen of the Amazons and Ruler of Themyscira would officially begin. "You've told me this before mother, but I still can't believe that one day, all of this… will be mine to rule."
"Yes Diana, one day, this island will yours to rule as you lead our tribe into the future." Hippolyta said as they both turned and left the balcony, walking back into the throne room before making their way outside to the palace courtyard, where Hippolyta knew her daughter's friends will be waiting for them to begin their group warrior training with Philippus.
"But my Little Sunlight, you must always remember, that while you were born to rule our new island home as the future queen of our tribe, it does not belong to you, me or any one member of our sisterhood, it belongs to all of us, the Amazons of Themyscira." Hippolyta said, her voicing taking on a slightly firmer tone as she wanted to make sure her daughter fully understood what she was saying to her in this moment.
"Of course, mother, I understand, please forgive my unqueenly hubris." Diana said a little sheepishly as she walked beside her mother down the palace steps, feeling slightly embarrassed by her accidental arrogance.
Hippolyta smiled at her daughter's humility, while Diana had her egoistical moments as many young and even older Amazons did, her Little Sunlight was never reluctant to admit when she had made a mistake, which Hippolyta knew was essential quality in any good leader. "It's okay Diana, I only tell you this because when you are queen, you are going to have to make hard decisions like I have had to in the past, decisions that others in our tribe might question or even condemn you for."
As she said this, certain… unpleasant decisions from her past that she had to make for the good of her home and her tribe came back to haunt her thoughts and Hippolyta once again had to quickly force them away before daughter noticed her lapse in queenly composure. "Do you understand me, my daughter?"
"Yes mother, I do?" Diana answered her mother honestly, though Hippolyta could still hear the uncertainty in her Little Sunlight's voice, which was fine, the Amazon Queen would honestly be concerned if her daughter didn't have ANY doubts at all, Goddesses know she did at her age and she wasn't even first in line for the throne then.
"Remember Diana, that no matter what you do, no matter what choices or decisions, you will NEVER be able to please all of our sisters, but you mustn't let that unfortunate fact stop you from doing what you know in your heart is right for our tribe." Hippolyta said as they stepped out of the palace's grand doors onto the courtyard's open patio, smiling down at her daughter, her princess, her heir to the throne, her Little Sunlight. "It's a big responsibility to bear, I know my daughter, but it's OUR responsibility, but one day, when your queen-."
Bark!
A familiar canine call caught both royal Amazon's attentions as a very large White Wolfdog came bounding out behind them, a familiar throwing ball in its long toothy jaws, it turned, looking at the princess and the queen with imploring eyes, its head low to the ground, its long furry tail wagging high in excitement as it continued to bark around the ball in its mouth.
This unexpected, but not unwelcomed sight brought both joy and laughter to the two royal Amazons hearts, for all of Krypto's canine nobility as an animal protector, for all of his savage ferocity as an apex predator, when it came time to play, the White Wolfdog still tended to behave exactly like the small adorable puppy he had been years ago.
"Hey boy." Diana said warmly as she walked up to Krypto and pulled the slightly drool covered ball from his mouth before proceeding to pet his furry head, which the Wolfdog happily allowed her to do, nuzzling against her hand.
"Kal." Hippolyta said aloud, in a tone that was half admonishing and half amused, looking over her shoulder to see her younger child, her son, her Little Fallingstar running down the hall towards them. "What have I told you about playing fetch with Krypto inside the palace?"
"Sorry, Mother." Kal said as he came to a sudden stop in front of her, looking at her with that same boyish smile and those same beautiful blue eyes she loved to see every day. "I remember what you told me about no playing in the palace, Krypto just got ahead of me with the ball and I-"
"Think fast Kal!" Diana said yelled and threw the ball past her mother at her younger sibling, Kal caught it easily and immediately threw it back at her before rushing out to meet his older sister and Krypto and from that moment, the game was on, with the two royal children throwing the ball back and forth between them and Krypto, just as they did when they were younger.
Hippolyta, just watched from the palace doorway, a warm motherly smile appearing across her beautiful face as she watched her children simply enjoying themselves for the moment.
Unfortunately, for Hippolyta and her children, the moment was short lived.
"My Queen?" Hippolyta turned her head and saw that Philippus had finally arrived with the Princess Circle right behind her, meaning that her children's carefree time together had to come to an end.
Giving a soft sigh, Hippolyta walked forward and grabbed the ball in midair, before either Kal, Krypto or Diana could catch it, bringing their game to a premature end, her children reacting with the expected response from them. "Aaawww."
"Sorry Kal, but it's time for your sister and her friends to start her group warrior training with Philippus." Hippolyta said warmly to her both her son and her daughter. "So that she may learn to give orders in the heat of battle."
At this, Diana gave her little brother a smug smile. "Because I'm training to be-."
"-Queen of the Amazons." Kal said rolling his eyes and interrupting his sister in a truly bored tone of voice, as if he had heard her say that exact same thing to him a dozen times already, which for the record, he had. "Yeah, yeah, I know all about it, Diana, you don't need to keep reminding me."
At this, Diana just scoffed and shot her little brother an annoyed look. "Well, at least I actually have my life figured out." She said as a smug smile spread across her face. "What exactly are YOU going to grow up to be, little brother?"
Kal frowned at his sister's usual taunting, over the years, he had grown to hate it whenever Diana called him her little brother, it always sounded so demeaning whenever she said it now, like her older age made her automatically superior to him.
"I don't know, but no matter what the future holds for me, I'll be happy knowing that I'll still be taller than you, Diana." Kal said with a smirk as he walked closer to his sister, which had the added effect of showing off the clear height difference between the two of them now.
Kal had grown considerably taller over the last year, to the point where he was now noticeably half a head taller than any Amazon girl on the island, including his older sister and her friends, something which he had taken great pride in and something he knew had annoyed Diana to no ends.
It worked, as Diana shot him annoyed glare which just made his widen, but just before the two of them could get into one of their usual sibling squabbles, their came in and pushed the pair apart. "Okay you two, that's enough."
"Kal, while your sister is busy, why don't you take Krypto out to the northern fields and play fetch there, its secluded and will give you two plenty of space to run around." Hippolyta said, as she handed the ball back to her son.
"Okay mother, come on, Krypto, let's go boy." Kal said before he turned and threw the fetching ball well past the palace courtyard, and like a Coyote in pursuit of a Roadrunner, Krypto went after it, howling in joy as he did so, with Kal right behind him.
"Have fun with your group warrior training Diana." The young Amazonian prince called out over his shoulder before he made way down the palace steps and out of sight, moments later, Hippolyta could see the boy and dog racing off in the direction of the northern fields.
The sight caused the Queen of the Amazons to smile once more, she was honestly glad that Kal got to enjoy his carefree days while they still lasted, because she also had an unpleasant feeling that they weren't going to last much longer.
Although, the Amazon Queen might not be so glad if she knew what exactly was waiting for Kal and Krypto at the northern fields, the very thing that was currently watching them right now from the edge of the jungle, it's three pairs of red eyes glowing in the darkness.
A little later… in the northern fields near the edge of the Jungle of Pan
"Go Krypto! Go get the ball boy!" Kal said as he threw the ball and watched as his White Wolfdog eagerly chased after it.
After a while, the boy and his dog had reached the northern fields a secluded part of the island, where large grassy green plains sat at the edge of the Jungle of Pan, far away from the palace and the city, one of the few places on the Amazon dominated island the prince and his best canine friend could be alone for a while.
A place where the pair could indulge themselves in one of the oldest and grandest pastimes between man and his ever-loyal canine companion, that past-time being, the game of fetch.
The ball flew through the air at rapid speeds from the sheer strength of Kal's tremendous throw only to be suddenly caught in the long jaws of the albino canine.
"Nice catch Krypto." Kal said smiling as his pet Wolfdog quickly bounded back over to him and dropped the drool covered ball into his open palm, before spreading his front legs and lowering his head, panting happily while his bushy tail swung back and forth rapidly, eager for him to throw it again.
Kal pulled his arm back once more and threw the ball again, even harder this time as it soared right of the meadow and into the jungle, and just like before, Krypto raced after it at super speed, practically flying over the grassy ground before disappearing into the dense jungle with a loud crash of foliage.
Kal watched, still smiling as this happened and then just like before, stood there, waiting for Krypto to come back with the ball so they could continue their game of fetch.
But as moments turned to minutes, the smile slowly fell from the boy's face as he became worried about his pet's increasing absences. "Krypto?" he called out anxiously, trying to keep the worry out of his tone.
After a few insufferable moments of silence, Kal heard a distant, but still easily recognisable bark and breathed a sigh of relief, before rushing off the to find his best friend, pushing his way past the jungle ferns, Kal finally found Krypto standing out in the middle of an open clearing, looking down at something.
"Krypto!" Kal called out as he ran over to his best friend, who at the sound of his voice looked over his furry shoulder at him and barked once, twice, then three times, but did not move from that spot.
"Krypto, what is it, boy?" Kal asked curiously as he came to stand beside his best friend. "What are you… looking… at?" He questioned as his voice got slower with stunned surprise…
… for right in front of the both of them was Krypto's favourite fetching ball, it had landed inside what looked like large crater in the middle of the grassy meadow.
But it wasn't a crater, Kal realised upon a closer look, in actuality, it was a footprint, the largest footprint either of them had ever seen… it was bigger than both of them.
After staring in sheer disbelief at the monstrous impression, Kal bent down and picked up the ball from the hole in the ground with a numb sense detachment, the earth was still fresh when his hand touched it, the soil had only recently been disturbed by this crater of a footprint…
… which meant, whatever had made it, couldn't have done so too long ago…
Krypto then sniffed the ground intensely for a moment, before putting his own paw into the torn-up earth, leaving his own much smaller footprint inside the giant one, as if to compare the two of them.
The most shocking thing was, except for the obvious size difference, the two footprints looked almost exactly the same… as if the gigantic one had also been made by the paw of a dog…
…a really, really, really big dog.
Turning his head quickly in all directions, Kal saw more footprints scattered all over the place, all the same size as the one before him and with his keen eyesight he could tell they were all fresh made, just like the one before him.
Krypto's bark drew Kal's attention back to him as the boy saw his Wolfdog wander over to a nearby crater, a hole that was larger than all the others, but as he got closer, the boy realised it wasn't a crater at all, it was a tunnel instead.
Carefully looking over the edge, Kal peered down into the dark depths of the tunnel, even with his incredible eyesight, he couldn't see the bottom at all, it was as if the tunnel led to the very bowels of the earth itself and judging by the claw marks along the sides of the tunnel, it was clear that something had dug its way out from it… something really big with really sharp claws.
A shiver went down Kal's spine as he tried to imagine what sort of creature could have done this. He and Krypto had played together in this part of the jungle countless times, and they had never seen any animal large enough to make footprints this big or a tunnel this long?
On second thought, Kal wasn't sure he really wanted to know the answer to that question anymore.
"Uhh… Krypto." Kal said slowly, suddenly feeling more exposed and vulnerable out in the middle of this empty clearing than he had ever been in his entire young life. "I think we should get out of here."
Krypto didn't respond, he was too busy sniffing the air, a sudden, strong breeze had blown over the clearing, bring many familiar scents of their island home with it… and one new scent as well too.
The Wolfdog growled at the empty air and raised his hackles at seemingly nothing, the scent was close, to close for comfort for Krypto's liking.
"Krypto? What is it?" Kal asked warily, he remembered the incident with the Chimera a few years ago, the boy knew his pet protector and best friend only ever acted this way when he sensed that danger was nearby by.
Just then, a giant dark, cloud was suddenly caste over the pair as a few drops of rainwater seemingly fell from the sky, quickly forming a puddle of water between the boy and his dog.
But it wasn't water at all, Kal slowly realised as he peered down at it, it was drool and the ominous darkness behind them wasn't a storm cloud at all, it was a shadow.
Something giant was drooling above them; something giant was casting them in its shadow… something was standing right behind them.
Kal felt himself go still with fear and Krypto's growling only intensified in volume.
GGGRRROOOWWWLLL! GGGRRROOOWWWLLL! GGGRRROOOWWWLLL!
As if in response, a low ominous sounding growl that resembled the rumble of thunder, the sound tore through both the boy and his dog, bringing the unmistakable stink of bad breath with it, it stank of decay, of raw meat and slobber, in short… its breath was death.
Not being able to take it anymore, both Kal and Krypto spun around to face whatever it was that looming over them… and immediately regretted doing so.
For standing right there, staring down at them with blood red eyes that glowed like the flaming forges of Hephaestus himself, was the biggest hound Kal had ever seen, hell, it was the biggest creature he had ever seen in his whole young life.
Its entire monstrous appearance was covered almost entirely in jet black fur and its unique physical features made it look like a hybrid cross between several different dog breeds, with it possessing the long neck of a Dobermann, the strong jaws of a Staffie all attached to the muscular body of a Rottweiler.
Its fearsome description didn't stop there though, with its long, powerful legs, broad clawed paws and a thunderous tail that was not a dog's tail at all, but instead the long scaly clubbed tail of an Ankylosaurus, while running along its back were the armoured dorsal plates of a Stegosaurus and inside its mouth were the razor-sharp teeth of a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
But none of these rather intimidating physical traits, nor even its gigantic size, were the most terrifying thing about this demonic looking dog.
No, the most astounding and intimidating feature of this hellish looking hound was its head, or rather, its heads, as it had not one, not two, but three of them. The middle head was by far the largest, the right one had a notch missing from its right ear and the left one had white spots along its snout, but all of them had chained collars around their necks and jaws which looked large enough to swallow him whole.
The ball fell from numb fingertips and landed in the puddle of drool with a sticky splash as Kal and Krypto continued to stare up at the giant Three Headed Hellhound, whose three huge heads all stared right back down at them, growling ominously…
Greetings to all my fellow fanfic readers and writers, I hope you all enjoyed Superman, Son of Hippolyta Chapter 10: Who Let The Dogs Out, which introduces one of most notorious creatures from Greek Mythology into this story, it also happens to be one of my favourites.
Also, Sorry about the lack of an update on this story guys and cliff-hanger nature of this short chapter, but don't worry, part two of this particular story arc will be published soon.
Now onto answering some more fan questions from all of you, thanks for the questions guys and please don't hesitate to ask more in the future, but do brace yourselves, it's a long one…
Guest: Yeah, the Queen's Circle are a pleasant bunch, aren't they? What with their constant looking down on their own sisters for being soft and their plans to murder an innocent boy the moment they don't need him anymore, but don't worry guys, they'll get what's coming to them and worse… much, much worse… because as bad as the circle may be… their nothing compared to Hercules…
Guest: One of the major themes I like to explore with this story guys, amongst all the Greek myths and Shakespearian undertones, is the idea of having real world issues get brought up in unexpected ways. For example, Alkyone objectifying her partner Phinea and treating her like a servant is sadly based on cases of real-world domestic abuse, that in this environment of supposed sisterhood is not supposed to happen and yet, it still does, yeah, Paradise Island isn't all it's cracked up to be guys.
Guest: The Queen's Circle consider themselves to be the pinnacle of what every Amazon woman should be and thus tend to look down on their sisters who don't meet their standards, which is, basically half their tribe, including Phillippus, Menalippe and Epione, who they all resent for being the only Amazon ranked above them besides, their Queen and Princess of course.
Guest: The story is set in the modern era, with the Amazons still living in a lifestyle similar to the one they had before the Fall of Ancient Greece whilst the rest of the world has moved on without them, causing both their tribe and their island to become a myth to all… but a few…
Guest: Yes, Kryptonite is in the story, if you go back to chapter 3 and read through it again, you'll notice the bracelet and bands that Hera gave to Hippolyta all have GREEN gems inside them, that colouring is not a coincidence.
Guest: Will Kal have a romantic partner on the island when he grows up? The short answer is, yes, he will, but maybe not in the way you would think, I say no more on it for now.
Guest: Will Lois be a part of the story? maybe, I do have a potential idea for her inclusion, but as usual, things can change, and she will definitely be different than most versions of Lois if she does appear.
Guest: Will Kal at some point leave the island and meet an uncle Ben and Aunt May like figures? Maybe, but it won't be the Kent's, nothing against them against Jonathan and Martha Kent, but they don't really fit into the theme of this story very much, this is a Kal-El story, not a Clark Kent story.
Guest: Epione wants to be a mother as well, just like many other Amazons do, but sadly, there just aren't enough girls created to go around for every woman on the island to be a mother, daughters usually go to partnered couples anyway and almost none of them ever gets to have more than one child, except for Hippolyta and some of their other more higher-ranking Amazons, which has caused more than a little resentment amongst there sisterhood.
Guest: Right now, the Amazon's general thoughts and feelings on Kal are… complicated, to put it mildly, all of the women on the island know what Kal's Goddess given purpose is, Diana and the other young girls however, do not, some have already accepted him, more are like the Queen's Circle and never will though, but most see it as pointless anyway because they do not believe he will actually survive his battle against Hercules, thus there's no point in getting attached or sealing their commitment to him as a member of their tribe.
Guest: Hippolyta does really love Kal though guys, she loved him after the first time they were alone together where she could be a woman and a mother for a moment and not a warrior or a queen for once, which just makes this whole situation their both in all that more unfortunate.
ManOfSteel: Speaking of love and family, you guessed right mate, Alkyone did murder her little brother when she was six and he was barely three, out of jealousy for the lack of her parents love and attention after he was born, she's been killing babes since she was child herself, long before the understandable reasons most Amazons have for hating men.
Guest: Alkyone is a classic case of a character who views themselves in the way they want to perceive themselves, someone who confuses caution for cowardness, privilege for entitlement, jealousy for injustice, anger for righteousness and love for lust.
Guest: Alkyone also thinks she's in 'love' with Hippolyta and wants to be with her as she's the only women on the entire island she really considers to be 'her' equal, Alkyone also wants to sleep with Diana when she gets older as well, in order to, in her opinion, make a real Amazon woman out of her, as she basically just sees Diana as a younger version of her queen and she really does believe Hippolyta will allow her to do that someday, something of which, she is very much mistaken about of course.
Guest: Alkyone wants to be a part of the royal family, to be with Hippolyta and have all Diana to herself, that's her dream for the future and in her mind, Kal's very presence on the island and his position as Hippolyta's son is standing in the way of that happening.
Guest: You all may have noticed by now that the Queen's Circle never actually refer to Kal by his name, they only ever call him by his royal titles or the more derogatory term Demigodling, my own personal term for a young Demigod, the reason for that is simple, racism, people have names and by their standards, they don't consider Kal a person at all, but rather a tool to be used, an animal to be commanded and then killed when they decide he has outlived his usefulness.
Guest: You also may have noticed that for the most part with the obvious exception of Alkyone, the Queen's Circle is very good at pretending to care about the boy, for the most part anyway, which is something also sadly very real in our own world.
Guest: Kal's relationship with the Amazons will definitely change as he gets older and becomes wiser to the world around him, right now, he's still young and smaller than them, thus, not really seen as a threat at the moment, but that will begin to change as he gets older.
