In this chapter, Luigi will make his debut.

I might feature Yellow Toad and Blue Toad, but I think it would be more fun to feature more Dragon Quest characters first.

Though if you want Yellow and Blue Toad in this fanfic, let me know.

I think I can work them in.

I decided to feature Hoohooros in this fanfic as a boss. I'm using a different plot from Superstar Saga but I still felt like I could feature it.

Though oddly enough I don't think Captain Goomba ever encountered it.

Chapter 11: Luigi Time

Fortunately for Alena, Koopa Troopas were not much tougher than Goombas. Though they needed to pay attention for when they attempted to attack them with their shells.

"You think if Bowser asks us nicely, he'll let me be a Koopatrol?" asked the Koopa Troopa. He loved the sound of wearing a suit of armor. Though in a sense, he already did have armor.

"Maybe he will." noted Peasley. He was always proud of a Bean whenever they successfully became a member of the royal guard.

Though the Koopatrols just might be Bowser's counter to them.

Some Dry Bones emerged from the ground.

"We're under attack by the walking dead!" exclaimed Alena. Though she recalled being attacked by the walking dead before. In her world, monsters came in all shapes and sizes.

"It's a good thing I know healing magic then." noted Peasley.

Healing magic was effective against the undead.

But you probably already know that if you've read the previous chapters of this fanfic.

The Dry Bones tossed bones at them.

Alena and Peasley ducked under them.

After fighting their way through, our heroes arrived at the halfway point.

The former noticed a familiar face.

"Kiryl? Is that you?" asked Alena.

"I've been looking for you." noted Kiryl.

"It was sweet of you to do that." remarked the princess.

'The statue wants to test us." explained the priest.

"What test did you have in mind?" asked Alena.

"Your first test is to gather Hoohoo Spirits." spoke the statue.

"Got it." comprehended Alena.

"You have thirty seconds." continued Hoohooros.

The three of them worked together to obtain them.

They succeeded with five seconds to spare.

"Well done! You have passed the first test!" exclaimed Hoohooros. Their agility certainly was up to par.

Alena, Kiryl, and Peasley cheered.

"Now for the second test…you must fight me!" demanded the statue.

It suddenly changed form.

Apparently, it was now in combat mode.

"You want to fight us now?" asked Kiryl.

"Think of it as a test of strength!" exclaimed the attacking statue.

"Fair enough." spoke Alena. Chances are there was something big waiting for them at the summit. And she did enjoy that kind of test.

Hoohooros fired lasers at the trio.

"A statue that fires lasers? What were the chances?" questioned Kiryl.

"It's unusual, but we need to watch out for them." instructed Alena. Especially since the statue could target multiple party members with it.

"Ouch!" exclaimed Peasley.

Luckily, Alena's fists were strong enough to break stone.

Hoohooros decided to hide behind some pillars. Fighting purely offensively just wasn't its style. Though the lasers weren't a bad offense.

Alena destroyed the one it was hiding under, but it moved to the other one.

"Maybe we need to destroy the pillar that it's not under." suggested Peasley.

"Good call." nodded Alena.

Kiryl decided to destroy the pillar that Hoohooros wasn't using.

"Like that?" asked Kiryl.

"Good work!" cheered Alena.

She then destroyed the pillar Hoohooros was hiding under.

Hoohooros realized that the heroes had countered its strategy.

"Very clever! I admire how you use your intellect and not just your strength!" exclaimed Hoohooros.

"We figured we should think before we act." answered the princess.

"Good choice." said the statue.

He launched a laser at the heroes.

Alena and Peasley jumped over it.

But it hit Kiryl.

"Ouch!" exclaimed the priest.

However, he hit the statue in retaliation.

The statue did not feel pain, but they still got the feeling they had done some damage.

Peasley then followed by slashing it with his sword.

Hoohooros hit Alena with its laser.

"Ouch!" exclaimed Alena.

However, this did not amuse Kiryl, who hit the statue again.

Hoohooros exploded.

Our heroes found themselves back in the field shortly afterwards.

"Well done! You have passed both of my tests. Good luck with making it to the summit!" encouraged the statue.

"Thanks!" thanked the princess.

The statue disappeared, and a path to the summit appeared shortly afterwards.

"You did well, Kiryl!" complimented Peasley. They might not have won if it weren't for him.

"I'm glad to hear that." answered Kiryl. He felt weakened ever since he stepped through that portal.

But he seemed to be regaining his strength.

"I hope that we get to the top of the mountain soon." remarked the priest. That way he could make his way back down.

He was still getting used to heights. Though being with Alena certainly helped.

He was glad to have met her.

Back in the Mushroom Kingdom…

In order to get to Sparkling Waters, our heroes would need to go through an icy path.

"I wasn't expecting an icy level in the desert." noted Jessica.

But then again, deserts were cold at night.

They would need to be careful not to slip on the ice.

Luckily, Mario had been in these kinds of levels before. Though if he could find a penguin suit, it would definitely be helpful.

Piranha Plants on Ice

"The Piranha Plants aren't here. I think the cold was too much for them." noted Peach.

"Can't they breathe-a fire though?" asked Mario. That seemed like the perfect way to warm themselves up.

Yes, they can. Changing the title…

Dragonthorns on Ice

"Dragonthorns? I remember them from Trodain Castle." noted Jessica.

They were roaming the place before the curse had been undone.

Nowadays they could still be found in other places. But at least the castle was no longer filled with monsters.

Except for the liquid metal slimes. They had been adopted by the residents of the castle. They appreciated the experience they gave them.

"As do I." nodded Angelo.

They would need to be careful not to get caught in their thorns.

They stung.

Luckily, Angelo knew a technique that worked well against dragons. It was known as Dragon Slash.

"Aargh!" exclaimed one of the Dragonthorns. This guy knew how to fight dragons.

They were also vulnerable to wind. Mainly due to being plants.

They didn't seem to be weak to ice though, as Mario found out when he discovered an Ice Flower. Otherwise, why would they be in an icy environment?

There didn't seem to be a whole bunch of Dragonthorns for them to fight.

It was likely due to the fact how big they were.

Big monsters were less common than small ones.

However, they could breathe fire, so they needed to watch out for that as well.

Some Great Sabrecubs appeared.

"These monsters are cute." remarked Peach.

However, they were also rather agile.

Unlike the Candy Cats, they did not slack off. And they sometimes psyched themselves up.

One of them charged towards Mario, but he whacked it away with his hammer.

Speaking of Candy Cats, their stronger relatives were in this level as well.

They were the Jailcats.

"Meow!" exclaimed one of the Jailcats.

These cats could use ice magic. Though they too had the habit of slacking off instead of fighting.

One launched a Crack spell at Mario.

"Mamamia!" exclaimed Mario.

However, they were weak to fire.

"I coughed up a hairball!" shouted one of the Jailcats.

"You OK?" asked Jessica.

The Jailcat nodded.

Some Snowmanglers appeared.

"This seemed like the perfect level for them to appear, didn't it?" asked Jessica. Though the author could have featured them later in World 4.

You bet.

The Snowmanglers launched snowballs at them.

They weren't the best of shots, but they were better than the Bodkin Archers.

One of the Snowmanglers was listening to Frosty to Snowman with his headphones.

Alistair suddenly breathed fire on them.

"Ouch! Is that what global warming is?" asked one of the Snowmanglers. That little Yoshi was stronger than he looked.

"Well done, Alistair!" exclaimed Jessica.

She was glad that he was feeding him.

It seemed he could use breath attacks.

He certainly was proving himself to be a helpful ally to the team.

Perhaps if she fed him some more, he would gain stronger breath attacks.

It was worth a shot. And besides, she didn't want him to go hungry. She was too nice for that.

The boss of this level was a Frost Wyvine.

"A stronger version of the Dragonthorn. Not a big surprise." noted Jessica.

However, this boss also suited the icy nature of the level.

Unsurprisingly, the Frost Wyvine could breathe ice.

So they needed to be careful. Being frozen would take them out of the fight. Or until they thawed out, anyway.

Luckily fire worked pretty well. It was an icy plant, after all.

The Frost Wyvine attacked them with thorn whips.

"Ouch!" exclaimed Mario.

"Ooh!" shouted Peach.

Jessica hit the plant with Frizz.

It was a critical spell.

"Ouch! I cannot handle this dreadful heat! Take this!" shouted the plant.

She spat out seeds at Jessica.

But she blocked it with her shield.

"Thank goodness for my fast reflexes." she thought.

Jessica then launched another fire spell.

"Oww!" exclaimed the Frost Wyvine.

Mario then used his Firehand against her. He decided to follow Jessica's example.

She breathed ice on him in retaliation.

He was frozen solid.

Luckily, Jessica thawed him out.

"Brrr..." said Mario. He was now shivering.

Jessica then finished off the Frost Wyvine.

"I frost the battle! I mean I lost the battle!" exclaimed the Wyvine. Hopefully the residents of World 3 could take care of things. The monsters were being led by Gracos...or rather, one of his descendants.

As a reward for defeating the Frost Wyvine, Peach obtained the ability to manipulate ice.

It seemed appropriate considering that she was cool-headed. She had a warm personality, however.

"This place-a reminds me of Isle Delfino!" noted Mario. He remembered when he and his friends had gone on vacation there. He had been accused of vandalism, unfortunately.

"I know what you mean." nodded Peach.

Though Shadow Mario didn't seem to be anywhere in sight. If he was, chances are that there would be goop all over the place. The Dragonlord creating an evil doppelganger of Mario wasn't off the table, however.

Our heroes noticed there was a haunted house up ahead.

Most likely there would be ghosts inside.

Alistair was scared.

Jessica petted him gently.

"I-a think we should get my brother!" exclaimed Mario.

He had fought ghosts before.

If there was anyone that could get them through that ghost house, it was him.

His Poltergust would definitely come in handy.

"You think he can help us?" asked Jessica.

"Yeah! Ghost hunting is-a his speciality!" explained the plumber.

He had been to a haunted mansion before. In fact, he had gone to several.

He had also gone to a haunted hotel.

That place had been massive.

But he still managed to capture King Boo.

"I think he will be helpful then." noted Angelo. The best way to fight ghosts was to have someone who was experienced at fighting them.

Of course, something told him that his light powers would be helpful as well.

Mario gave him a phone call.

Luigi arrived in a warp pipe.

"You called for me, big bro?" asked Luigi.

"There's a haunted house-a up ahead. We figured you could-a help us!" explained Mario.

"A haunted house? Mamamia!" exclaimed the green plumber.

That sounded very scary. What was a haunted house doing at a beach world, anyway? It seemed a bit out of place. Especially since this world was rather sunny.

Despite his fear of ghosts, Luigi could see why Mario would choose him for this task.

He had been taught in the art of ghost hunting by Professor E. Gadd.

And he had given him a device designed specifically for capturing them.

"I'll help you-a out!" exclaimed Luigi. Anything for his brother and the princess.

"Great!" cheered Jessica.

Luigi has joined the party!

Afterwards, Peach decided to try merging some monsters together.

She ended up with an Angel Slime.

"I'd say this one suits me a lot." noted the princess.

At Hoohoo Mountain Summit…

As it turned out, Larry Koopa was on top of the mountain. He was in charge of the minions that had stationed themselves there.

"This cannon will make conquering the Beanbean Kingdom a snap!" exclaimed Larry.

It seemed only a matter of time before they surrendered to Bowser.

The idea filled him with excitement.

Suddenly, a Koopa Troopa approached him.

He had some urgent news to tell him.

"Yes? What do you want?" asked Larry.

"Three heroes are coming to the summit!" exclaimed the Koopa Troopa.

"They are? I'm looking forward to fighting them!" shouted the blue-haired Koopaling. To be honest, he was looking forward to something to do while his minions loaded the cannon for the invasion.

"Be careful! They'd have to be strong to make it up here!" warned the Koopa.

"That's alright. I like a challenge!" answered Larry.

He had brought a wand in case anybody tried to stop him.

"Are any of those heroes Mario by any chance?" asked the Koopaling. It seemed like Mario had been enemies with the Koopa Troop since the beginning of time.

'Actually, no. I heard that he's fighting a guy called the Dragonlord." explained the minion.

"Really? That's a shame! I was hoping to fight him again!" exclaimed Larry.

Well, hopefully these three heroes could entertain him.

He would be so disappointed if he defeated them in less than a minute.

For now, he would wait for them to show up.

How long did it take to climb up the mountain, anyway?

Perhaps he could check the telescope to see if there was any sign of them.

It was nice for somebody to put a telescope up there.

"I'm looking forward to this!" exclaimed Larry.

The reason I decided to have Alena and Peasley work together?

I noticed similarities between the two.

Have you noticed the similarities as well?
