CH 22
Nikki pass Pete his beer. "Every thing ok" Swain asked
"yep so what where you four talking about" Nikki asked
"nothing much" Charge said
"Yeah right" they talk and laugh for couple of hours before returning back to there rooms since they got an early start in the morning.
That night mike and Kate made love before falling asleep in each other arms. Nikki and Pete made love twice before they feel asleep in each other arms.
Then next morning they all met up at the dinning hall for breakfast then they all went to a class room where they meet up with other senor sailors and officers from two other patrol boats who also there for the extra training.
Then they were all split up in to different classes till lunch time where they meet up with the others. Then after lunch it was more training. By the end of the day they all were given folders and manuals to read and study.
Nikki was in her and Pete room. She got change into her swim suite and put on track pants and top. Then she left a note for Pete before grabbing her bag then walk out of the room and walk down to where the swimming pool is. When Pete found Nikki note, he went and got change and left him self. When Pete walk in to the pool room he smile when he saw Nikki sitting on the edge of the pool smiling at him as he walk over to her
"Hey, how was your afternoon" Nikki asked, as she pointed to where her bag is
"good, you"
"good"
Nikki watch Pete as he took his shoes and shirt off then he walk over to the edge of the pool and dove in. when he surface he turn around and smile when Nikki swam over to him. They wrap there arms around each other since it was the shallow end of the pool and they kiss.
"It a shame I can't remove your swim suit" Pete said smiling
"i know, I was just thinking about that just before you arrived"
"Really"
"ah ha" they kiss once again.
Then they turn when they heard voices and saw four guys walk in. Nikki remember them from the bar from the night before.
"Let swim some laps" Pete suggested
"Why not" then they started swimming towards one end of the pool then back again.
They both swam so many lengths then stop at the shallow end where they saw the four guys were also swimming lengths. "Lets go back to our room" Pete suggested
"Good idea, I need a shower"
"Same here"
they got out and dry down then they put there clothes on them walk out of the pool room and back to there room where they shower together as well remove there swim suites while in there. While washing each other they made love while in there.
Twenty minutes later Pete was wearing shorts and singlet while Nikki was wearing a silk robe. They decided to do some reading from the manuals for and hour before going to get some dinner and meet up with the others.
Hour later Nikki close her manual and stood up and walk over and put it on the desk. Then she turn to Pete was was still reading. So she took her robe off and throw it at him
"Hey" he said in shock then remove it from his head as he look up to see Nikki walking towards him.
She bend over and close the Manuel he was reading then pick up up and put it on the table then she step ford pushing Pete to lye down then she sat on top of him then she bend over and kiss him
"Nikki are you ok"
"More than ok"
she kiss him once again as she pull his singlet up so the sat up so he could take it off and relies what Nikki is up to so he kiss her and flip them both over
"you know we going to be late for dinner"
"so" she pull him down for a kiss.
They made love once again. Then they got dress before leaving there room to see Mike and Kate doing the same.
"We know what they been doing" Nikki said
"Yes we do"
"Sir, Kate" Nikki said smiling
"Nav, Buffer"
"Sir why are you wearing lip gloss" buffer said making Nikki and Kate laugh
mike got hanky out of his pocket and wipe his lips "Better sir"
"thanks buffer, did you two get much studying done" mike asked
"Yes we did sir, what about you two" Nikki asked
"some" Kate said grinning
they talk and laugh till they walk into the mess dinning hall where they got there dinner and walk over to where Swain and Charge is. "Hey we knew you would be late" charge said ginning
"how" Buffer said
"Swain and I notice the way your four were checking each out out while in uniform. All that sexual tension."
"charge" mike said
"what sir, I see the way you look at the X today at lunch time, you can't help it sir, same with buffer"
"Gee thanks Mate you need to get your self a girlfriend" Nikki and Kate laugh
"funny" they talk about what they done and who they meet.
After dinner they went to the wardroom bar for couple of drinks before return back to there rooms to study.
The next few days were the same. They read more about the new Hammersley, the operating systems, every thing.
On Friday night the six of them left for the weekend. Mike and Kate went to spend it with there kids. Charge went to see an old mate. Swain went to a hotel where he spending the weekend with Sally and Chloe whom his miss. Pete and Nikki went to spend it with Vicky and victor.
On Monday they were all tested on what the read and lean from the week before. On Tuesdays and Wednesday they all went into Sydney, they went to the navy port where one of the patrol boats is there being use for the course and training.
On the Tuesday they all got to check out the new patrol boat, seeing what it looks like the first time including the important areas where they will be working in.
When mike and Kate walk up onto the bridge they look around at the size of it "much bigger" mike said
"Yes it is" Mike walk over and sat in the captain chair. Kate walk over and shook her head at him. She turn to see there instructor walk up onto the bridge
"What do you think of the bridge lieutenant"
"bigger, lots more room and it good that there are maps on here also just in case the radar brakes down sir"
"Yes it is" then he walk around her to see who in the captain chair and smile
"what do you think lieutenant commander?"
"Very nice sir, more room and I know for a fact that the women are happy"
"Why is that?"
"on the old Hammersley women had to wait till the guys finish there showers and by the time they get in to have there the water either Luke warm or cold"
"Well you had electric hot water cylinder, now you got gas hot water so there no way you would run out of hot water"
"Only when you run out of gas sir" Kate said making mike grin and the commander laugh
"Your right but for that to happen there would be a gas leak"
"that true" then they turn to see others walk up and onto the bridge to check it out
"sir you didn't waist any time" buffer said smiling
"no he didn't, so what do you think of the new patrol boats" Kate asked
"bigger and no waiting to have a shower cause of you guys" Nikki said pointing her finger at Buffer who was grinning
"Hey don't blame me"
"I'm blaming all you men" Nikki said.
Then she turn and walk over to the radar is to check it out. They all talk and look around before walking off the bridge and the ship. They all got back into the two vans and return back to Watson bay.
The next day they were all on the bridge when the patrol boat left harbor and went out to sea. They watch as the ship crew dose there job. Once they were out at sea, each of the three groups took turns in running the ship while the others watch till there was a may day call.
The radio operator took the call. They wall listen and watch what was happening. Nikki and Kate were over where the radar and notice that the boat isn't on radar. They watch what was happening.
Mike turn to Kate they look at each other then they turn to listen what was happening. Between the captain and it XO and there crew. Mike turn to Kate she gave him a slight nod
"Lieutenant commander Wilson permission for me and my crew to take over" He turn to Mike
"you think you can find the boat lieutenant commander"
"Yes I can"
"Be my guest."
"Ok, Swain take over steering, Charge on engines, Nav radar, X the maps, buffer EDO" Mike said then he walk over and pick up the microphone and spoke to the skipper of the boat.
Kate wrote down the cordite that the skipper read out from his GPS. Then she look over the maps then over to the radar then back to the maps
"Swain steer one two zero, reversion two, two zero. Sir we will be there in two hours" Kate said.
Then mike spoke to the skipper while Kate walk over and stood next to Nav where she did some typing on the computer
"sir"
"what is it X" mike said as he walk over to her
"the boat is in uncharted waters, I suggests when we close we stop and send both RIBS to the boat and have it tow back to us"
"We got sonar" Leitenant commander Wilson said.
"sir, this is why, there a large sand bank and with the tide charge there no way a patrol boat wouldn't make it in there"
"your right X good job" Mike said
"thank you sir" the others watch as the Hammersley crew work together.
They were impress with the way Mike and Kate work together. When they stop Kate called hand to boarding stations. Charge left his area and went down the step. He wanted to see how they use the cranes.
Mike keep in contact with both the boat and boarding team. Hour later the two HRIBS were back in there spot and the boat was being towed back to Sydney. When they were back in port they all return back to Watson bay to talk about what happen.
On Thursday and Friday they were on a simulation bridge where each of the three groups took turns as they went through a number of different tests plus for the others to see how well each of them do when they work as a team. By Friday afternoon all the instructor were talking for over an hour before talking to each of the three groups. When it came to Hammersley group.
"Lieutenant commander Flynn, we were impress with the way you and your team work together not only out at sea but in the simulation as well. I'm quiet impress"
"thank you sir I do have a great crew"
"i can tell plus the way you and your XO talk to each other giving each other advice. That what I call team work"
"thank you sir"
"Now I was ask to give you this" the commander pass mike an envelope.
He open it and pull out the reader and read what it said. Then he pass it to Kate who read it "We going to Perth" Kate said
"what, when" Nikki asked
"Monday, the new Hammersley will be there waiting for us and the rest of the crew to take it to Perth from Melbourne since they doing there training there"
"That awesome" Nikki said smiling
"Yes it is at least you will be on it for that one trip" Kate said
"I know, I'll be looking forward to it" Nikki said smiling.
They talk about how they looking forward to going to Perth. Hour later they all left Watson bay and went to spend the weekend with family and friends.
On Monday morning they flew to Perth. They were all in there white uniforms since they were getting pick up at the air port by navy personal.
"Nikki how was your weekend" Kate asked
"busy. I've been helping Pete to decided on who he getting in to do the replying, widening the doors ways and putting a ramp in. We talk about it and seen the quotes"
"that took all weekend" Nikki laugh
"no we went shopping, send a lot of time with Vicky"
"Ok, so you know that you and buffer won't be sneaking off some place during the night" Kate said smiling
"We know, what about you and captain"
"We can control our selves"
"till you get home" Kate giggle
"Yes till we get home, what about you and buffer"
"We wait till we get home so long as we don't get interrupted"
"i know what you mean"
When they arrived in DPerth and they got there bags, they walk towards the exit while talking. When they were out side they look around while waiting for five minutes when two SUV pulled up. They saw the drivers in there uniforms. They got out and walk over to where Mike and the others are
"Lieutenant commander Flynn sir" they saluted each other
"at ease leader" Mike said
"Were here to take you and your crew to the docks sir. The rest of your crew arrived three hours ago"
"thank you, Charge you go with Nav and buffer, Swain you with Kate and me"
"Yes sir" they all said.
Then they pick up there bags and walk towards the cars. Mike was in the passenger seat while Swain and Kate were in the back. Charge was in the passenger seat of the second car with Nikki and buffer in the back seat. On the way to the docks Kate and swain talk, he show her photo of Chloe.
"she goriest swain"
"she my little princess" He said smiling
"Well it better than being a frog" Swain laugh
"Yeah who told you"
"mike did"
"Well he was in the engine room when charge told me that" Kate giggle
"How sally copping?"
"Not to good, she was tied when I saw her. Chloe got a cold"
"Oh no, I know what that like. Mary got it then with in two days Connor, Grace and Patrick came down with it. But I did have help"
"that good that you got help X but Sally on her own, her family here in Perth."
"True, talk to Nav"
"Nav why?"
"Her sister in law Heidi is a nurse and care giver. She taking care of Tom. When I spoke to her at buffer wedding she said she want to do other things, help others out who needs help."
"You think she might help Sally while I'm out at sea"
"She would be over the moon"
"I'll talk to Sally and Nav about it when we get back to Cairns"
"ok" When they arrived on the docks they saw the crew there talking when the two SUV pulled up.
Then they all got out "Hey boss, X, swain"
"spider, enjoy your shore leave and training" Swain asked
"yes, This boat is amazing"
"We know spider" Kate said as they got there bags from the driver
"charge, buffer, Nav" ET said as he walk over to giver buffer and charge a hug.
"Enjoy your shore leave" Charge asked ET
"Yep sure did"
"I guest it would of taken a few days for you get get over your hang overs" buffer said making every one laugh
"Yes I did thanks buffer"
Once they got there bags they all walk onto Hammersley and went to get change while still talking to the rest of the crew. Once change they went to check on things as well raise the Australian flag in it spot on the back of Hammersley before leaving port.
Buffer walk up and onto the bridge "sir before we leave" Mike turn around to see buffer holding a box.
He stop ford as he open it. Mike saw what was in the box "Why not"
Buffer carefully got Thor out and pass it to Mike. He took it out side on front of the bridge where the crew is waiting. They all cheered as Mike put Thor in his sport.
"all right you lot back to work" mike said
then he return back on the bridge to do normal checks and went out side again to give orders to have the gangway and ropes removed from the dock. Once it was done he walk back on the bridge and sat in the captain chair then he gave out the orders.
They all watch as Hammersley moving away from the docks and turning around on Mike orders then they slowly head out to sea and headed north. They talk for ten minutes when they heard voices and foot steps.
They turn to see it was spider and an able seamen carrying traveling mugs in there hands. She pass them around to the crew. "Your the new chief and second medic" mike said
"Yes sir, able seamen brown sir, I'm called bomber"
"Welcome aboard Hammersley"
"thank you sir"
"bomber did you make this coffee" Nav said
"Yes ma'am why is there some thing wrong with my coffee"
"not strong enough"
"See I told you how Nav likes her coffee" spider said
"what two teaspoons of coffee and three sugars and milk. That horrible"
"that how I like it"
then buffer walk up the steps carrying traveling mug, he walk over and took the one Nav out of her hand and swap it "Hey" she turn to him
"We don't want a grumpy Nav on our hands, especially on her last trip back home now do we" Nav took a sip of the drink and smile while others laugh knowing what Nav is like
"No we don't buffer and thank you, you know how I like my coffee" buffer smile
"Yes it do" then he took a sip of it and turn to bomber
"Next time add another teaspoon of coffee to the pot bomber"
"Your joking right" Bomber said in shock
"It is a bit weak" Kate said
"sorry I didn't know"
"you will get the hang of how the crew like there coffee" mike said
"Yes sir"
