Chapter 3: Realizations

The days passed by quickly, almost like it couldn't wait for nightfall. Ron had sent off his letter to Hermione and spent a lot of time waiting for a response. He knew she was probably busy, but the anticipation made his antsy. He decided to let Ginny play Quidditch with him, mostly cause he had no one else to play with, with Bill in Egypt and Charlie in Romania. Percy and the twins were in Hogwarts, no doubt having fun with their friends. Though, knowing Percy, probably having fun with his books. Not that being smart was a bad thing. His wife is the smartest witch of their generation.

A few weeks passed. The twins and Percy came back from Hogwarts for their summer holidays. Soon, it was July. The Weasleys had yet to go to Diagon Alley to get their supplies for that year. One day, over breakfast, Ginny suggested, "How about we go to Diagon Alley on 31st July?" "Why 31st July, Ginny?" Fred teased. Or was it George?

Anyway, either one of the twins teased Ginny on picking such a specific date. I doubt they know what's so special about that day. Though, this was when Ron had realized it. Ginny was also from the future! Ginny did a huge crush on Harry as a kid. Everyone knew how old he was when Voldemort was "defeated". Although, no one knew his birthday.

None of the books written about Harry had any mention of his birthday, meaning it wasn't public knowledge to anyone except those who knew James and Lily Potter personally. Meaning at the time, only Sirius, Remus and the traitor; Wormtail, would and should know Harry's birthday. But since he; Ron Weasley, Harry Potter's Best Friend and Brother-in-Law; had travelled back in time with knowledge of the future, knew Harry's birthday. And all the Weasleys also knew it, considering all the birthdays they celebrated here at the Burrow. But none of the Weasleys had met Harry yet, so they didn't know. Not yet, anyway.

So Ginny could only know if she had also travelled from the future. His mind had only sharpened from years of training as an Auror. He knew this meant a long discussion with Ginny, who had surprisingly been more moody and sulky for a few weeks. He had brushed it off as her being sad that she would be left alone, but now he wasn't sure. He knew one thing though. He needed to talk to Ginny.

After breakfast, Ginny headed up to her room, mumbling something under her breath. He waited a few minutes before heading up himself, saying that he needed to go to the bathroom. He, however, did not. He went up to Ginny's room and knocked. He heard sniffling before she called out. "Go away!" She shouted. "Were you crying?" Ron asked. "No." He heard. It seemed smaller than before. Hurt. "Can I come in? I just wanna talk to you, Gin." "No, I don't wanna talk to anyone!" She shouted. "Not even to your favorite brother?" He asked, slyly, knowing this would get a reaction from her. Instead, all he heard was more sniffling. "Gin?" He asked, softly. "I just wanna talk." "Fine."

He slowly pushed the door open. He saw Ginny sitting on her bed with tears on her face. "Oh, why were you crying, Gin?" He asked. "Because of you, you idiot!" Ginny exclaimed. "What do you mean, because of me?!" He asked, horrified. "I've been trying weeks to make you realize that we're in the same situation, but you, being the idiot you are, didn't!" She explained through her tears. "And I miss Harry! I miss my brothers, my friends, my family!" "But, we're right here?" He hesitated. He had no idea what was going on in Ginny brain and he needed to find out.

"But you're not! They're not the brothers I know!" She exclaimed. "And you! Pretending that everything's okay!" He wasn't understanding any of this. What did she mean, they're not the brothers she knows? If he wanted to find out anything from her, she had to calm down. "Gin, calm down. We'll figure this out." She took a shaky breath and slowly regained her composure. "Now, tell me what you mean by I'm pretending?"

"Fred!" Ron cocked his head. This made no sense. "What exactly do you mean?" He asked, bewildered now. "Fred! He died and now you're pretending like you're not at all affected by the fact that he's happy and alive!"

"Of course, I'm affected!" Now angry, Ron cut in. "You think I'm not?! I literally saw my older brother die in front of me! But I've been ignoring it, so that no one thinks something's wrong! I want to scream about it in my room, but I don't even have a wand to silence it!" He shouted at her. Ginny stared at him, stunned.

He slumped forward and flopped on the bed. "I'm sorry." His voice was muffled because of her pillow he had buried his face in. "It's alright." Ginny consoled him, patting his head. He jolted when he heard a knock at the door. He bolted up into a sitting position, in case anyone decided to open the door.

"Ginny, is everything alright? And is Ron with you? I heard him shouting." A soft female voice carried into the room. Their mum was clearly worried based on her tone. "Ron! You better not be arguing with your sister!" "Don't worry, mum, everything's alright! And, no, we're not arguing!" He called back. A sigh. "Ok." Footsteps retreating from the door. Ron flopped back onto the rickety old bed.

"Alright?" She asked. He nodded. "Perfectly fine."
