As Bella's eyes shot open from her abrupt awakening her vision became a blur of colors as her vision began to play past her sight to fast to make out all but a few. She caught the glimpse of Dasha teaching her how to make flower crowns behind the temple to Edward drawing her blood at night while she slept. she was brought to the present briefly by a blood bag being tossed into her lap, looking from where it was thrown was Damon leaning against the doorway with a duffle bag in hand and another over his shoulder. Picking up the blood bag Bella didn't hesitate and started drinking as she did another vision swam past this time a male who was around six feet in height and had light brown hair with braids through it and brown eyes though his face was switching between normal and having the vampire features show. He was dressed in Viking attire with blood dripping down his chin as he tore through what Bella could tell was a witch's house. Throwing things around and smashing herbs of the rafters and walls before hearing shouts of Kol in Norse before he grabbed what could only be a grimoire and shoving it in a bag before she was brought back to the hospital room.
Bella noticed Damon had put the duffle in his hand on the foot of the bed and she caught the last few words he said as he turned to face the wall to give her privacy to change into one of the outfits he grabbed for her. "Terrorize them for us as I'm going to take you out of town to train you."
Bella didn't register how fast she was really moving as she got dressed in the cream-colored tank with flowers patterned on it and a pair of high waisted ripped grey skinny jeans and an oversized but soft yellow cardigan and a pair of brown boots. Just as she finished her wrist was grabbed and Damon placed a thin silver chain on her hand and on the chain was a small circular pendant holding a smoothed lapis lazuli though instead of the blue color, she was used to seeing it was black.
Bella also watched as her hand was then turned over and a new set of Komboloi beads was laid in her hand. Seeing them triggered a memory to come forward of her older pair being ripped off her left wrist by James before he bit her the sound of beads scattering across the floor being drowned out by her scream. Damon, closing her fist around them brought Bella back to the present and she noticed the differences the twenty three beads on the silk cord were made of obsidian and Bella could make out runes carved into the stones, the papas bead was silver and had the Salvatore crest on one side and more runes on the other, the founda part of the komboloi instead of being a tassel like her first set was a continuation of the silk cord being capped off with two more obsidian beads though they were being held in place by silver end beads. She knew traditionally there should have been a tassel, but she was okay with this version too. She noticed that she could also see the magic glowing off the runes but decided to think about it later when she could process what else she was seeing. Subconsciously she began to perform the tricks with the beads and noticed she was able to focus more on the present and not the feelings and senses that were starting to overwhelm her, subsided enough for her to look at Damon has he explained the two gifts.
"They are both because of what happened in Forks so when we were in Greece, I got a witch that I did a favor for to make the bracelet and explained what happened to your beads and that you hadn't found a replacement yet and the witch was willing to work on both for a price. The beads and cord have been spelled to never be broken and can with stand vampire strength. "He received a tight hug for that before he grabbed her hand and began to pull her out of the hospital.
Bella saw a brief glimpse of an empty blood bag, being hidden under a hospital blanket as she got into the passenger seat of Damon's car. As they drove out of town Bella closed her eyes still playing with the beads and began sorting through her memories the ones about her time in Forks, she glossed over not wanting to spend to much thought on them and the treatment she received lest she get to mad as a newly turned vampire. She would wait to deal with those later, preferably if she ever saw them again so she could vent her anger at the appropriate targets. Her memories as Dafni on the other hand took a bit longer since she felt like she went from living in Ancient Greece to living in modern times. Where she had once only remembered her past life and had visions of some of the events, they had lived behind a fog for her to bring forward when she wanted to remember one thing or another. Now it was like there was no time between her lives and remembered both with a few memories of waiting to be reborn as a spirit after she first died thrown in.
Bella was just thankful her personality hadn't changed much between the lives other than Dafni being a more social person than Bella which means as she settled into her new normal, she would be more inclined to help Damon in the chaos he sowed rather than just sitting back and watching or even being the one to drag him to nearby clubs when bored with his brother and the town for the weekend. As they reached the next town over Damon started talking again figuring he had given her enough time to process for now.
"So, from your eye color change alone its clear you kept your gifts and from the way you zoned out and then your eye following movement around the nurses we walked past that the gifts have gotten stronger to so let's talk through what you have seen so far. That way when we get to where we are going, we can work it into your vampire lessons from Sage."
"The only thing that changed really visions wise is that I will be able to remember the details better due to the enhanced vampire brain I have now. The other sight though has gotten a major upgrade and is very distracting the ability to tell vampire, witch, or werewolf and that magic was on a person or object seemed to include telling if it's a curse or not. I also am seeing floating orbs around a person that seem to change color based on their moods, you don't have one at present I'm pretty sure it's because your emotions are switched off." Bella turned her head to stare as he drove, noticing a few more things as she focused on Damon and began pulling her hair up into a ponytail.
They chatted about the changes and the few visions she'd had since she woke up wondering who the guy was and what mischief Katherine must have already started as they crossed state lines. Pulling up to the building Bella noted the closed sign on the window before being dragged inside by Damon. Who grinned at the woman standing in the middle of the boxing ring. Bella could tell instantly this was Sage, who was pulling her shoulder length red hair up into a bun as she waved the two of them into the ring. Damon greeted her with a kiss on the cheek and Bella followed his lead and did the same which got her a smile as the woman looked her over.
"If I didn't know better, I would think you had a sister rather than a brother, I'm glad to see you upgraded. Now not that I'm complaining but why bring her to me for training."
Bella and Damon share a look before Damon answers as Sage circles Bella.
"St. Stefan is in town along not just a human doppelganger, but her vampire twin just showed back up. So, I figured from everything I have learned from you over the years and what others have implied that town life is about to get even more deadly and who better than to make sure she can survive it than you."
Bella's vision blurred and she saw Katherine stepping into the Lockwood mansion for the mayor's funeral before it switched over to a night carnival and Caroline feeding on a male worker before she focused back on sage who was now looking between her and Damon.
Sage nodded to herself before, like lighting she tried to snatch the beads Bella was playing with again out of her hand. Bella tightened her grip in response and blocked her second attempt with her other arm. "Damon says you learned some self defense well the best way to make sure you get the hang of your newfound body enhancements is to use them so welcome to vampire 101. You're probably going to hate some of it as much as Damon did, but you'll thank me later also I'm teaching to fight not just self-defense Damon will thank me for that later too."
Throughout the next two weeks Bella spent sparing with both Sage and Damon and hunting in between and sometime even while sparing she was taught the ins and outs by one of the oldest vampires to be turned. Bella would find that since her turning her strength, speed, agility, and durability had increased along with an enhancement in her healing factor which aloud her to be healed from all injuries but three types that would cause permanent death, which was a stake in the heart, head removal and a bite from a werewolf. She was also warned that it had been found that the venom in a cold one would cause a torture effect but would eventually clear the system with only a bite scar to show for it. Once Sage spotted the one on her left arm during one of their spars. She was also told about a few other features that came with it like the enhanced beauty, and an enhancement to her emotions such as feeling more deeply along with personality traits and her senses being increased as well.
Before her first hunt she received a memorable speech before the lesson on compulsion. "Many view becoming one of us as a curse or feeding just something that must be done so they can continue with their miserable existence. Finn thought like that even when he found me when I was a human and with his forced sleep, I taught Damon what I taught Finn as a human. Life is meaningless without pleasure of any kind and being a vampire just means we can relish all the pleasures that come with being one. Yes, blood bags and animals are an option, and you can survive on them but that's all you would be doing surviving you wouldn't be truly living this life you have been granted no matter how it came about. I once told Damon that humans were not just for food, they were for pleasure. I was not lying and that's because it is a pleasure to feed the others might not want to admit it due to their guilt being stronger, but it is a pleasure. Even more so when both participants get to feed off each other but either way pleasure is involved. I am not going to tell you to kill or to not kill the person you feed on I am not even going to tell you to feed on an innocent or on a criminal. I will only be teaching you how to go about making sure you get the most pleasure out of it whether you have to take it, or it is given without compulsion."
One of the last things they taught her before she and Damon headed back to Mystic Falls was about the last not so used or well-known powers that like all other enhancements would get stronger with age. Were dream manipulation or being able to get into someone's head and telepathy which would allow for mental communication between distances. Which was practiced with the thought that it would be coming in handy when it came time to free Enzo.
The night before going back to mystic falls Bella saw Kol, who looked to be sixteen, was sitting on a cave floor with wolves howling in the distance. He was writing in Elder Futhark from what Bella could tell without being able read what was being written Bella could tell it was the start of a grimoire which he quickly hid under the bed roll he was laying on and pretended to be sleeping at the sound of movement nearby before her vision changed to Katherine stabbing Stefan in the stomach and saying him hating her sounded like the beginning of a love story before vanishing off as he falls to his knees clutching his stomach. They just passed the town welcome sign when Bella's vision changed to seeing Elena, Alaric and Stefan walking into Duke university arguing about werewolves being real with Stefan saying he had been chased by a wolf the night before. Her vision blurred as it then showed a glimpse of a moonstone being put into a box before being thrown onto a well and Katherine walking into the boarding house library.
Once they settled into the house Bella could tell the visions in the car were current warning about what was happening, so she grabbed her newest journal and began writing the visions she had over the past two weeks she had been gone. Damon joined her eventually asking if she had confirmation for the next semester of classes since college was going to be starting back up again soon. When Bella confirmed she had he placed a glass of bourbon down on one of the tables and asked a question he had been wanting to since they were completely alone at present.
"Just out of curiosity have you tired to force a vision like you use to as an oracle of Delphi or no?" Bella shook her head no at the question before answering.
"No mostly because back then it had been part of the job but until we moved here just letting them come as needed had worked just fine. Why want to see if I still can at least not go into what's coming blind for the most part."
Sharing a look with him they silently communicated that with the ways things were going knowing if she could bring visions forward in a situation would be helpful. Picking up her beads from beside her journal Bella centers herself and starts swing a familiar pattern from her temple with the beads, it didn't take long for Bella to remember how she taught herself to bring her gifts forward instead of holding back like she had been over the years not wanting to be out of place more than she was.
Within in a minute of the bead sounds having the effect she wanted to help trigger her state Bella felt a wave wash over her before she began to take in what she was seeing not realizing she was speaking out loud and had Damon scrambling to grab her journal to write it down for her. In the vision two men stood over a table both one was blonde hair and the other light brown hair they were leaning over multiple scrolls and even a few clay tablets that all seemed to be saying the same thing as the muttered how to write it down Bella could make out the words fake curse of sun and moon to get the "ingredients" together for us. She also heard Katherine's true name being cursed by the blonde. Which had the woman in question showing up at the other end of the table to comment that if an explanation had been given then she would not have run in the first place before taking off again as a glass was thrown where she was standing. Her vision then changed to the cells that Enzo was occupying as her professor showed Victoria to a nearby table as she put a briefcase down and pulled out multiple syringes that a had a clear liquid in them, she spoke about witches spelling vervain to have a greater effect on vampires and wondering if the professor would be so kind to see if it was true. Before coming back to herself meeting Damons stunned eyes at the last one Bella knew the clear liquid was really venom and knew they would no doubt be acting sooner with Enzos recovery. Bella also leaned over and grabbed her laptop typing in the keywords she heard mumbled in her vision. Bella soon had a picture of the scroll pulled up from the university archive. Damon was reading over her shoulder as they heard footsteps approaching.
Katherine sits in the chair that Damon just occupied and crosses her legs as both Bella and Damon greet her in Bulgarian she smirks in reply before getting straight to the point having spied on them enough over the years to know al least the minimum of Bella's gifts and from spotting what was on the laptop as she walked in to figure out, they carried over when Bella turned.
"Since you've no doubt figured out about the fake ritual, Klaus has a curse on him that suppresses his werewolf side. In two months', time everything will be in place for the ritual to be informed as the pawns show up to town, we get to have fun driving them crazy and keeping the most important ones for the ritual in town until its time for them to be used. I'm sure between you two and me and Mason we will have plenty of entertainment." They all only had time to grin at each other before they heard a vehicle pulling into the garage. Katherine wiggled her fingers at them as a goodbye before vanishing.
