SPOILER WARNING: If you aren't caught up on the Black Clover and Jujutsu Kaisen manga, there will be spoilers. For god's sake, don't go search up his name if you want to avoid spoilers. If you want to avoid Jujutsu Kaisen spoilers, don't read haha. His abilities are well, based on a certain character's abilities later down the line.
And before the reviews. Only thing related to the MC's name, is just the name. He isn't like the person he is named after, the name was just dope, so what other reason did I need, lol.
Obviously, Diana is the pairing. Some say she cliche, I say she is best girl.
Anyhow, if you are still here. Hope you enjoy, reviews are still appreciated, but if it's just gonna be snot and tears the exit is over there.
Chapter 1
Invasion of the Imperium.
In a world such as this, the very concept of heroes, vigilantes, aliens, and monsters has been considered fantasy. Yet they started to appear one by one, filling the headlines with either their heroic acts or threats of terror. An endless battle between nemeses that could leave their respective domains and cities in ruins should the battle get out of hand.
Yet, despite all of that, the search for the unknown was still at large. Looking for the secrets of the world and the universe, the very sorcery or theory to reshape the laws of reality, you still had one enemy you'd have to face on the daily even if you were renowned as a protector of the many...
Paying rent.
"It's not like I have a choice," a young man groaned just loud enough for himself to hear, grasping onto a handful of strawberries as the busy streets could be heard from outside the big glass window with the large saying 'Jacks' Juicebar'.
His name was Lucius Zogratis. It was evident that he was a child born from two very different lineages and cultures, yet somehow, he'd ended up in America.
Seemingly an ordinary young man of average height with medium-length black hair, and dark blue eyes.
Yet here he was, the land of dreams and hope, the epitome of innovation.
Yeah right.
The grasp tightened around the berries, as an invisible force cut it into pieces just above a blender as the impatient shout of a customer from behind the bar met his ears.
"Oh come on, how long does it take to blend a damn smoothie?!"
An exasperated sigh left his lips, "I know, I'm hurrying..." He replied back in response. The fruit pieces were tossed into the blender as the lid closed, pressing down the button as the blender did its job, the juice and fruits creating a smooth texture as he took the bottle and poured the mixture into the smoothie cup. "There you go, the strawberry banana smoothie with an extra scoop of ice."
He put the lid on, handing the man his drink as she looked it over, "I didn't ask for a double scoop."
"Well, the manager wanted to try it out. See if customers are okay with the extra ice or not," The young man said, giving her a reassuring smile, "I promise, if you don't like it, we can remake it for you."
The customer looked him over before taking the drink, walking off as he sighed with relief, going to clean out the blender as he continued to think about his situation, "I know I shouldn't complain... I could be doing a lot worse. At least I've got this job. America, land of dreams, sure thing... Dear old dad pulled one big prank before he bit the dust."
As he continued to clean up, he could hear a dissatisfied sound from the customer he'd just served. As he turned, he saw him take the lid off, pointing at the drink, "Excuse me, but what the hell is this?"
"Your order, sir." He responded bluntly with a look on his face that hinted he was on the verge of being dead inside.
"You call this a smoothie?! It looks more like a milkshake!"
"Well, that's how you blend it... You don't like it? We can remake it."
"I asked for a strawberry banana smoothie! Not this shit!"
The young man sighed, walking up to him, "Sir, there's no need to yell. I already told you-"
The man snorted and tossed the cup into the trash-can. At least it wasn't the floor, "What happened to the customer is always right? Terrible service. You won't see me coming back, and don't you dare expect a tip for such horrible service!"
As the man then turned around, the young man watched him leave as he could only shake his head, "That's a shame, and here I thought you could use some fruit in your diet..." He muttered and did a subtle sweep of his hand, the same invisible blade he'd used to make his job easier, cutting the man's belt just as he stopped forward.
His pants fell down around his ankles, and he tumbled forward. His head slammed into one of the tables, sending the juice and smoothies located on it flying over the couple that'd been sitting there.
He couldn't laugh. Not yet. But god, it was hard not to.
If karma couldn't be a bitch on its own, he'd just have to help it along, no?
"Oh my gosh!" the girl exclaimed, both of them having the drinks and juice dumped onto them.
The man's wife got up from the table and stormed over to his side, he was already pulling his pants back up. She was yelling, and the young man decided now was a good time to step away, going back behind the counter as he could feel his boss' glare on his back.
"Did you see what happened to the couple over there?" His boss asked.
"Sure did, sir," He replied.
"Why didn't you do anything?!"
The young man tilted his head, "Oh, I did. I watched."
"I mean, why didn't you do something to stop it?" The boss hissed at him.
He tilted his head and raised a brow, "So you expected me to establish a mental connection to his belt, to get a warning for when it was about to snap, and then run over. Like Superman, save his day before he made a fool of himself?"
His boss opened his mouth, only to close it and shake his head. He let out a sigh, "Just, go help out the waiters, please."
The young man nodded and went off, "Right, right. Whatever you say, Mr. Jacks."
He didn't want to cause trouble. But at the same time, he wasn't going to stand there and let someone get away with that kind of attitude. Not when he could help it.
With a sigh, he grabbed a menu and walked over to the couple. Both of them had cleaned the worst off, the girl looking up as she had a scowl on her face.
"Sorry about that," he said, setting the menu down, "On the house, since he made such a mess of your table. If you need anything, I'll be right over there."
"Oh, thanks!" The guy said, the girl smiling and nodding.
The young man smiled and nodded, before walking off. Life was easy like that. If you offered people free stuff, their mood was almost guaranteed to brighten up. Greed, one of society's worst sins. Not that he was much better, but at least he found his ways around utilizing it properly.
He had no interest in causing trouble or getting a bad rep for himself, so the best way to keep things from escalating was to throw in some free stuff.
He walked back to the register, only for his brow to rise as the ground started to shake. It felt like a low-level quake, not that there was anything around that would cause such an earthquake.
A brow raised on his face as the sound of glasses and cups clinking together met his ears, turned his head, and watched with an amused look as they wobbled from the shelves and began to drop to the floor shattering to pieces.
Yet as he had thought it was just another one of the heroes going about their daily task of putting criminals in their place, his blue eyes eyed the window curiously as the sight of a car flew toward the front window of the shop.
"Not good..." He muttered, yet with no fear in his voice. Instead, he just watched as the car flew through the window.
"Everyone get down!" One of the customers yelled as they ran for cover.
His eyes narrowed, and with a wave of his hand, he used his powers. The car was sliced into pieces, a barrier keeping the debris from spreading inside the building.
As the pieces dropped to the ground, his eyes glanced over toward the counter where the boss was cowering. He sighed and walked over, "Mr. Jacks. Don't you think you should get the staff and customers to safety? I'll hold down the fort."
"Y-Yes! Right, everyone, this way! Let's get you all to safety!" The man cowered and started waving his hands around in a frenzy, until it hit him, "Wait... Hold down the fort?!"
"Well, someone's gotta make sure everything's alright, right?" He said, raising a brow at him.
"B-But you could get hurt!"
He smiled and gave a shrug, "I'll be fine. I've got a feeling I know what's going on."
Mr. Jacks was about to protest, but the young man turned and walked off, ignoring the other as he headed for the door.
"H-Hey! What are you doing?!"
"Holding down the fort," The young man replied, before turning his head, "Don't worry. I can handle myself."
With that, he stepped out the door. And tossed the work apron away so he was just standing in a casual white t-shirt, and a pair of black jeans. He took in a deep breath, before closing his eyes and focusing his attention.
"So, where are you?" He asked aloud, the sound of a struggle catching his ear, before the sound of a car alarm, then a crashing sound.
"Found you..." He said and started heading toward the source of the noise, pillars of smoke rising on the horizon, as if this ruckus had been going on for a while now... How they hadn't noticed, was beyond him. But something was very clear.
Something was very wrong.
And the idea was just amplified as what could only be described as alien looking spaceships flew over the buildings above him.
"Well... This should be interesting," He muttered, "Just another day in the states."
He didn't get a chance to react as suddenly one of the ships fired its cannon, the beam tearing through the city skyline, leaving nothing but ruin in its path.
The young man looked in shock, but before he could make sense of what was happening, another ship fired its cannon, the beam heading straight for him.
"What the-!?" He shouted as the beam came closer, the man barely reacted fast enough to avoid it as the beam ripped through the road behind him.
His heart raced in his chest, the sound of panic and terror rising all around him, "No way... What is all of this?"
His eyes glanced upward, seeing the alien vessels moving closer.
Unless Batman changed style and became a villain, he had no clue what this could be. Aside from an alien invasion at least, which wasn't too farfetched.
The young man felt his lips quick upward into a smile as the ground began to rumble, the ships overhead beginning to open fire on the city, "Oh... Oh, this is just the thing I needed. Some good ol' fashion action, huh? It's been a while, but it should be just like riding a bike!" He chuckled and cracked his knuckles, gathering all his energy at his feet before propelling into the air. His clothes waved in the air as he landed on top of a building gracefully, waving the side of his hand toward one of the ships as its engine was cut clean off, resulting in the vehicle crashing into a nearby building.
Lucius blinked, "Woops.." He rubbed the back of his head, "Hope no one was in there."
It didn't take him long to realize there were bigger problems. And so, he moved on, leaping from rooftop to rooftop, heading straight for the source of the destruction.
What met his eyes were... curious.
They were like those walkers from Star Wars, but these looked almost alive in comparison. And they fired laser beams from their eyes.
As if it wasn't weird enough already.
Honestly, this was everything like a comic book, and he was smack dab in the middle of it all.
"Time to get this party started, huh?"
Lucius chuckled and leaped down from the building, landing on one of the walker's shoulders, a surprised grunt leaving him as he grabbed onto its armor to prevent himself from falling off.
"Damn, I should have practiced more," He muttered, before his hand glowed with red light, and he slammed it into the walker's shoulder, a surge of power traveling through his body as the machine froze. Invisible blades cut in a frenzy, until it exploded into pieces.
The young man grunted as he fell through the air, a flash of surprise on his eyes as he came face to face with yet another walker as the smoke cleared...
"Uh oh..." He grimaced as the eye gleamed, another red laser beam hitting him dead center in his stomach, sending him flying through several buildings.
When he finally did stop, he was lying on his back, a groan leaving him as his entire body ached.
"Well, shit," He muttered, his hands moving to try and sit up, "That actually kinda hurt. I was hoping to play around a little more..."
He looked down at his chest, seeing the burnt spot on his shirt, as well as the burnt skin beneath it.
"Gotta be careful," he said, and pushed himself to his feet.
He looked at the wreckage around him. A whole lot of debris, and a whole lot of dust. He couldn't see much through the dust, so he'd have to go for broke and hope he didn't get his ass kicked again.
With a cough he waved some of the dust away, as it started to settle, he deadpanned at probably the most disgusting sight he'd seen...
"Oh, come on! That is just, ugh!" He gagged as the creatures began to walk through the debris... They practically looked like they were made out of white goo.
And as a man with origins from Japan... He'd seen enough questionable shows to get a very bad first idea of what exactly they were made out of...
He waved his head and smacked his face to clear himself from the thoughts as the alien monsters raised their weapons at him, a frown forming on his lips, "Really? Can't even give a guy a break? Alright, how about we do this the hard way."
A burst of energy exploded from his feet, a wave of wind blowing the dust aside, the creatures firing their blasters, the young man easily leaping out of the way as he jumped, his fist glowing red as he slammed it into the head of one of the aliens, sending it flying into its comrade.
Spinning around with a palm on the ground, he kicked his foot into another, a wave of energy rippling through the air as it was cut into pieces and crashed into a big pile of goo on the ground.
He grinned as the rest of the aliens raised their weapons and opened fire, the young man easily leaping and dodging, his hand slicing through the air as his own invisible blades cut them apart.
He couldn't help the chuckle that escaped his lips, a smile forming on his lips as he was filled with exhilaration, the likes of which he hadn't felt since... Well, his days back home.
But now was no time for sentimentality, so instead, he focused on the task at hand. The task of destroying every single alien invader he could find.
And much to his luck, the more he cut down, the more would appear.
Yet, even he wasn't as superhuman as he'd like.
Those things hurt, if the damage he took from earlier was any indication.
He cracked his neck and crouched down with his fists extended outward. A large eight-handled white wheel waved into existence above his head and he rolled his shoulders to loosen his muscles, "Well at least I can deal with that in due time..."
"The bat is dead?" Flash asked with a solemn look as the group stood inside a broken down building, eyeing the chaos through a broken window.
Diana frowned but kept on a brave face, "He fought valiantly."
"How the hell did this happen?" Green Lantern questioned, a frown on his lips.
The Martian looked around, "The Imperium..." He sighed, "With Superman and Hawkgirl compromised, our only hope is to take them back. Otherwise, this fight is lost."
Flash nodded, "So, what's the plan?"
With her arms crossed, Diana looked around, "If we can't find an opening, then we have to make one."
"You mean a direct assault? You're kidding, right?" Green Lantern asked, not wanting to hear this plan at all.
"We can't give up on our friends," Diana countered, looking at them, "As J'onn said, it's do or die. There is no alternative."
Green Lantern sighed, knowing there was no point in arguing, "I know you're right, but I just can't shake the feeling that it's a suicide run. And I don't like the idea of throwing our lives away, just for the hope that we can save them."
As this went on, Flash stood with his own arms crossed but his attention wasn't on the conversation at all.
"Do we bore you, Flash?" Green Lantern barked with visible annoyance.
Flash shook his head, "Nope. Just trying to figure out who the new guy is."
"New guy?" Green Lantern echoed with a raised brow.
Flash nodded and pointed out to the horizon where a figure could be seen flying toward the Imperium. He didn't look anything like another hero, he just looked like... a regular guy.
But then again, when the hell did a regular person just leap through the air like a maniac toward alien invaders?
"Who is that?" Martian Manhunter questioned, a bit confused as he had never seen this man before.
Diana narrowed her eyes, "He's fighting the Imperium alone. We need to help him."
Before she could run off, Green Lantern raised his hand to stop them, "Wait. We don't know who it is yet, so while this guy might seem to share a common interest he is a wildcard..."
The Amazonian raised a brow, "And I wasn't?"
Part of the earlier tension was still present, but the Green Lantern just rubbed his face, "Let's just sit back and observe, form a plan, before we make a reaction."
Meanwhile, on the horizon, Lucius grinned as he crossed his arms as one of the walkers fired at him.
The Heroes watched as he was engulfed by the bright red light, and was even more so dumbfounded when it had not even slowed him down, instead he just waved his hand toward one of its legs, and in an instant, it was severed from the rest of the body.
It crashed to the ground and exploded, leaving behind nothing but a burning crater.
"Holy hell..." Flash muttered, a little impressed by the feat and couldn't help the whistle that left his lips, "Impressive, right?"
"Indeed..." J'onn responded.
Green Lantern frowned, "This doesn't sit right with me..."
"And why's that?" Flash questioned, giving him a glance.
"Because this guy is strong. Really strong. He's taking down the Imperium without even breaking a sweat. But have any of you ever heard of a guy with that kind of power?"
Flash shrugged, "Isn't that pretty much what Superman used to be?"
"That's not the point. Look, we don't know who this is or why he's here. For all we know, he could be another enemy. This country isn't short of villains and criminals after all." The dark-skinned man argued.
The scarlet speedster argued, "And for all we know, he could be another hero like us. Heck, maybe another superhero we haven't met yet, huh?"
Green Lantern was about to retort, but the Amazonian stepped forward and raised her hand, "Enough, both of you! We don't have time for this. We need to focus on rescuing our friends."
"Yeah, the longer we wait, the more dangerous things could become. And I don't know about you, but I really don't want to lose anyone else," Flash said.
Martian Manhunter hummed, "And what do you expect us to do, exactly?"
The woman shrugged as if it was that simple, "We need to distract them, create a diversion, and hopefully they'll let their guard down long enough for us to rescue our friends."
Flash raised a brow beneath his mask, "How do we create that distraction?"
"Simple," Diana answered, turning her gaze towards Flash and then the battle ahead, "We give them something to shoot at."
"Oh, great. So, I'm cannon fodder. That's just awesome." Flash deadpanned.
Before the conversation could go any further, the building shook beneath their feet.
"What the hell was that?" Green Lantern shouted.
Martian Manhunter answered, "It appears they've found us."
Diana tilted her head, "No... This is something else."
And just as she'd suspected, the back wall of the room they'd been hiding in got blown away as one of the Imperium's soldiers came flying forward... The stranger from earlier chased it with a grin on his face.
He slammed his fist into its 'face' and kicked it toward the stomach region, sending it flying through the ceiling before he leaped after it through the debris and newly added hole in the building.
The four heroes blinked as they looked at each other and then the hole in the roof, the sounds of battle and the destruction that came from above echoing around them.
"I'm guessing he's not the one we're rescuing..." The Martian blinked.
As they stood there a bit speechless, Flash pointed a thumb in the direction he'd gone, "Is it just me, or did it look like he was having fun?"
Lucius grinned and jumped out of the way as one of the ships fired, landing gracefully on the ground, a smirk on his lips.
The wheel on top of his head had faded long ago, as he carelessly stood there and tanked hit after hit by the enemy's blasters. Sure his old man had been a pain in the ass, but he could at least thank him for being part of a bloodline with such well-kept techniques from the history of the very best sorcerers.
His fist glowed and he slammed it into the ground, an invisible blade cutting the legs off the walkers, as well as a few of the enemies as he stood up and crossed his arms.
He wasn't even panting or sweating. It was a bit of a shame really, it had been a workout at first, but now it was just... Boring.
Perhaps he should have waited to adapt to the attacks. Aside from damage to his clothes, he wasn't really feeling like he was doing much more than a light jog at most.
The ships fired again, and Lucius jumped, the blast hitting a nearby building, the structure exploding, and sending debris in every direction.
"Damn, what is this guy made of?" Flash muttered, seeing him tank the hits without so much as flinching, "Ballistic gel?"
Green Lantern rolled his eyes, "No way..."
"He is rather interesting..." Martian Manhunter added, his mind focused on the man.
The Amazonian, however, was more curious than anyone else, "Definitely a warrior. If we could get him to join our side, this invasion would be over in no time. We could rescue the others, and avenge Batman."
"So, do you think we should approach him?" Flash asked, his attention split between the conversation and the man tanking hit after hit.
"He does seem like a formidable ally," The Martian added, "If he's truly as strong as he appears. We may not have the luxury of scoping him out for much longer. Allying over common interest would be better than no allegiance at all, or at worst, having another foe at our hands."
Green Lantern was still a bit sceptical, "I'm not sure we should. We don't know who or what he is, or even how his powers work."
Flash snorted, "Bwah, don't be such a buzzkill."
"It would be better to approach him," Diana suggested, "But with caution."
The speedster rolled his eyes, "Of course, it would be."
Diana nodded, and then turned to J'onn, "Can you get to him telepathically?"
"Perhaps. If I can get close enough," J'onn said, watching as the man easily leaped over another one of the blasts, his expression a bit intrigued.
"Alright, so here's the plan," Diana spoke, crossing her arms, "Flash, you go out there and try to keep their attention. We'll need you to buy some time."
The speedster nodded, "Got it."
"Then, once the coast is clear, J'onn can approach him," Diana said, turning her attention to the green-skinned Martian, "Think you can do that?"
J'onn nodded, "Yes. It will be doable."
The Amazonian smiled, "Good. Then let's get to work."
"And what should I do?" Green Lantern asked, looking around.
"You and I can provide cover fire," Diana said, gesturing to him, and then herself, "Think you can handle that?"
Green Lantern smirked, "I'll see what I can do."
Diana turned to J'onn and gave him a nod, "Good luck."
With that, the Martian nodded back and vanished into thin air, the remaining three getting ready to head out and start the plan.
Lucius landed and was immediately swarmed by the alien footsoldiers, who began firing their blasters at him. He rolled his eyes, and then slammed his fist into the ground, sending a shockwave outwards, the resulting force knocking them away and sending them tumbling across the ground.
"This is just boring me," he sighed, standing up and dusting his shirt off, "Well, guess there's not much point in wasting my time on you. I'm gonna have a lot more fun with the big guns."
He looked around and then his eyes settled on a large, dark gray, and ominous ship sitting a few hundred meters away.
'Before you do that, how about a proposition?'
As he heard a voice in his head. Lucius stood completely still and blinked. He turned around, and came face to face, with the most green-looking dude he'd ever seen.
"As if today couldn't get any weirder..."
Another wrap, another chapter. If you hadn't figured it out already, or just didn't care about the spoilers, this is pretty much Meguna abilities. And if you ain't familiar with JJK at all, explanations will come as the story goes, figured it'd be more fun that way instead of just explaining it all in seventeen paragraphs in a row.
Anyhow, until next time, be it a month or a year or whatever the hell happens.
