War... war never changes
In the aftermath of WW2, when America dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the world held its breath in the years that followed, dreading the long awaited nuclear armageddon.
Instead however, something miraculous happened. We began to use atomic energy not as a weapon but as a nearly limitless source of power.
Times were good, technology began to advance by leaps and bounds, new energy sources were discovered as well, like solar, geothermal energy and so on.
People enjoyed luxuries once though the realm of science fiction's. Domesticated robots, portable handheld computers, fusion powered cars. Science made incredible breakthroughs in genetics, medical, cosmetics, cybernetics and so much more.
But that would all change in the 21st century, resources began to dwindle, nations all over the world began to fight for whatever scraps of resources left.
But then, on October 23rd 2077, the long awaited nuclear armageddon finally happened. In just two hours, the world was bathed in nuclear fire.
All traces of our civilization were erased from the face of the earth. Trillions of lives extinguished, by the push of a button. The world was plunged into an abyss.
But this would not be the end of the world, just another bloody chapter in human history.
Before the bombs fell, thousands were spared the horrors of nuclear fire by taking shelter in great underground bunkers known as Vaults. When they opened, the inhabitants would be greeted by the inhospitable wasteland, except for one.
Vault 101, a massive underground shelter, home to 1173 inhabitants, equipped with all the latest advancements the pre-war company Vault-Tec could provide for indefinitely because in Vault 101 no one ever enters... and no one ever leaves.
It is here, where I was born. It is here I would die... or so I thought. For one fateful day, everything changes for Vault 101... for the better.
