Green Hill

A field, hills and nature-like structure filled with animals, Green Hill is an appropriate name for a field of green.

The birds are tweeting, the flowers are blooming and the metal is tinkering.

Tinkering?

The direction that makes a sound is a man that is in the shape of an egg with long and slender limbs, a bald moustached man is preparing his flying vehicle while placing his gadgets in his said flying vehicle.

"That'll do it. Hehehe, now that little blue rat will try and take me on with my newest creation: Egg Pyro!"

Egg Pyro: a machine that appears to have hi tech legs, arms on both sides and a large flamethrower on the side of a mech, making it look like a mecha that is around 9 feet tall.

This has Dr. Eggman widen his grin while preparing for Sonic to wake up from his beauty sleep.

On the other side, snoozing under the leaves, Sonic the Hedgehog, the blue hedgehog slowly opens his eyes, yawning and picks himself up while stretching.

Sighing, Sonic is ready to move as he has his eye on the city, leading him to grin until…

BANG!

"Huh?" Sonic halts as he sees the animals fleeing as they panic, causing Sonic to turn towards the thing that blocks the sun. "Eggman?"

"Hello, Sonic. Feeling refreshed? Because I am!" Laughing as he mocks the hedgehog, Eggman is prepared for the moment that he'll beat Sonic as the mech points his flamethrower directly at Sonic's face. "Meet Egg Pyro, she couldn't wait to burn your quilly face down!"

What Sonic sees is Eggman's new suit as it makes him look like he has muscles as opposed to his usual features, leading Sonic to sigh and walk.

"Let me guess, you wanna fight, don't you, Eggman?"

"Indeed I do. And once you go bye-bye, Eggmanland will be completed and there's nothing you can do to stop me." Eggman sneers as he's hoping for Sonic to fight.

"Heh. I'd like to see you try, Eggy!" Sonic pulls a grin, accepting Eggman's duel.

"Hmph! Even tired, you still never give up on fighting your enemy."

Eggman is right, as Sonic thought that where's the fun in that? Sonic then raises his fists as he's determined to fight against Eggman's latest creation.

Finally, the battle begins between a speedy hedgehog and a human in a mech suit, giving Eggman the first go in firing his flamethrower, leading Sonic to sidestep and zoom towards a tree by leaping and spinning on it like a pole.

"Hmph! Not bad, but can you handle my flamethrower at level 2!?" Eggman shouts as the fire on the flamethrower goes from orange to blue.

Then a burst of blue flames has spread as Sonic is caught in the heat as he spindashes towards the mech.

As the flamethrower is hit, Sonic slides back to the ground and pat himself.

"Hey, Eggman, thanks for the heat. It's actually chilly out there." Sonic called.

"Grr! Fine, then I'll set it up to level 5! I don't care if this place burns down, I'll burn you myself!" Eggman growls as he turns the flame from blue to purple to red to yellow, heating up the mech as Eggman grunts at the warning. "I know, I know. It may overheat, but it'll overheat that damned rodent!"

After that, Eggman burst his flamethrower, making Sonic block as he can actually feel the heat as he grunts.

"Hahahaha! Not so fast now, are you!?" Cackling, Eggman finally caught Sonic in a crossfire as he's ready to roast Sonic.

Before Eggman levels up his flamethrower, a burst of blue light has caught Eggman off guard as the yellow flames spread into blue flames and finally wind, causing Eggman's jaw to drop.

"No no no! I will not lose this time! BURN!" Eggman sets it up to max power as it turns white, causing a wildfire all over Green Hill.

Is it over?

Unfortunately for Eggman, the flames are going back towards him, causing his mech suit to overheat, but worse.

"What!? D- Damn it! Eject Egg Py-" BOOM!

In the end, Eggman is no longer around as a flaming nuke has happened, causing Sonic to flinch and then watch the fire that is lighting up around a completely destroyed mech.

Fortunately, Eggman is bursting out as he flies like a missile, screaming as he's being blasted into the sky far away from Green Hill.

"I'LL GET YOU NEXT TIME, YOU ROTTEN HEDGEHOG!"

And he's gone.

"As always, all bark and no bite. Typical Eggman." Sonic sighs while placing his hand on his hip, watching the smog clearing up as slowly as possible..

Afterwards, Sonic starts to walk and then runs while leaving Green Hill and heading towards the city.

Station Square

Sliding in a city that is big and fitting for a summer holiday, due to having theme parks, casinos and beaches, Sonic is in the middle of a road in Station Square while looking around a city that is populated by both humans and his fellow anthropomorphic creatures.

Sonic is impressed by the structural design of this city.

Afterwards, he moves his eyes, catching a chilli dog stand that is something for him to have a snack on.

As Sonic approaches the stand, he stops as he comes across a bunch of police cars, leading Sonic to stare as the cars and their direction towards a certain area.

"Hello, sir, what toppings do you want on your hotdogs?"

"I'll have two chilli and one ketchup, please." Sonic raises 3 fingers as an order and then turns back towards the sirens without any comment.

Thankfully he has 2 bags, a bag that has 2 chilli dogs and another is ketchup on one.

Finally, Sonic pays up and zooms away from the stand.

As he approaches a crowded space, something he's not a fan of, Sonic stops to see a car crash and a deformed body on a wall along with the car, seeing as a red puddle is also evident that someone is a victim of a car crash.

To Sonic's surprise, he sees a puddle of water vanish into a manhole, giving Sonic the impression that Eggman has nothing to do with it.

After that he sees a young boy looking the most shocked, distraught even, despite other people being shocked and scared.

Before Sonic reaches his arm, the young boy rushes from Sonic himself, giving him an even bigger impression that this woman is his mother and means a lot to this boy.

"Do you have the description?" One police officer asked.

"Yeah. Her name is Jessica Langley and was 39 years old. Hm? Where'd the kid go?" The other police officer said.

"You mean Joshua Langley?"

"Yeah. How did you know his name?"

"I forgot to mention that I'm his uncle. And Jess is my older sister…"

"Oh. I'm sorry about that, man."

That's more than enough detail for Sonic to know who the boy and the woman were, leading him to look at a lifeless body of this said woman.

After Sonic nods, he follows the direction of where the boy is going.

Later inside the train station, the boy named Joshua cocoons himself while being quiet, seeing as someone took away his family member.

What Joshua is seeing is a bunch of fellow humans and anthropomorphic creatures walking past, leading him to resent others for having a living family.

"Hey." A voice called which surprised Joshua.

Arriving is the blue hedgehog from earlier, sitting down next to Joshua while eating his own chilli dog.

"I saw what happened to your mother." Said Sonic.

"Ngh…" Joshua kept his mouth shut after hearing what Sonic said to him.

"I mean, it's okay to talk about it. I'm all ears." Sonic is still smiling, making Joshua disgusted after seeing that smile on Sonic's face.

"What do you know? You don't know anything about mom, so leave me alone."

Sonic agrees while keeping his mouth closed and listens more carefully.

With both of them silent, Joshua turns his head towards Sonic with a little aggression after seeing him not budging to leave.

"I told you to leave me alone!"

"Sorry. I'm just relaxing with you, that's all. Although, I was saving one for myself but…" Sonic opens his bag and hands out 2 bags of chilli dogs for Joshua to have. "You're hungry, right?"

What surprises Joshua more is that Sonic is just there to help him, despite not wanting one.

"Which one? Chilli or ketchup?" Sonic asks.

Joshua slowly raises his arm, only for him to snatch the ketchup one, making Sonic himself chuckle.

"I guess more chilli for me then." Sonic concludes as he bites a chilli dog with enjoyment.

"Why are you helping me?" Joshua asks as he takes a bite of a ketchup hotdog.

"Why would I not? Because you lost your family member. I know how you feel, kid." Sonic answers his reason.

As Joshua sighs, he then looks back at a bunch of citizens of Station Square.

"What about your uncle?" Sonic asks as a suggestion for Joshua to stay with.

"He's always busy with his police work. That's why mom's the only family I have."

Sonic understands while finishing his chilli dog and stands up before raising his hand towards Joshua.

"Let's go see him, shall we?"

"But… Okay…" Joshua reluctantly accepts As he's being picked up by Sonic and walks with Sonic himself to pay a visit to Joshua's uncle.

"So, what did you see before what happened to your mother?" Sonic is curious to know Joshua's side of the story.

"Well… I saw a strange water that's been going up like volcanoes that had those lids on the road flying. It made a car fly and then it killed mom after that."

"Water… The manhole… Seems like Eggman has nothing to do with all this after all." Sonic can tell that strange liquid is the reason for Jessica's murder.

Before the duo continues, what stops them is a bunch of crowds screaming as they rush past a hedgehog and a boy, causing Sonic to rush in without Joshua.

"Ah! Wait!" Joshua shouts, reaching his arm towards Sonic.

Sonic grins as he's making sure Joshua is safe, running at the speed of sound.

Back outside on a mildly rainy evening as the sky is turning yellow to orange to pink, gunshots are fired as a bunch of droplets are hitting the building and slither back to a liquid body, making it invincible.

"D- Damn it!" One cop exclaimed.

"Take cover!" The middle aged cop yells as the cops are dodging with a stretch arm, pushing a car and causing an explosion by hitting another car.

After the explosion, the cops are now in a hopeless situation as this water creature is far unlike anything they faced.

"Huh? What the?" A familiar cop gasps, seeing a blue anthropomorphic hedgehog standing in front of him.

"Yo. So you must be Joshua's uncle, huh?" Sonic asks while squatting down.

"Y- You're…" Joshua's uncle is surprised to see the hedgehog he needed the most.

"What are you doing, sir!? Why didn't you evacuate like the rest of the citizens!?" The middle aged cop shouted.

"Eeh? I thought you boys needed some help. And what do we have here?" Sonic is surprised to see the creature that's responsible for the murder of Jessica Langley, Joshua's mother.

"Oi! Wait!" The middle aged cop tries to reach towards Sonic, but is halted by Joshua's uncle.

"Hold on, Captain! I know who he is." Joshua's uncle called.

"Huh?"

"The hero of earth, Sonic the Hedgehog."

"Hero? Listen up, Mr. Langley, I'm no hero. I might as well be a villain. I play by my own rules." Sonic makes it clear to the officers, knowing what he believes is the right thing to do.

So this is the creature that caused an incident that took away a life, making Sonic frown and crack his knuckles.

"Hey. You got a lot of nerves attacking innocent people. There's one thing I don't appreciate and it's taking away the boy's mother." Sonic raises his finger, responding to the creature's actions.

This causes the creature to morph itself into a ball and bounce left and right, preparing to catch Sonic off guard.

"What in the!? Mr. Sonic, You need to run now!" The female cop shouted.

"Heh." Sonic is more relaxed as he doesn't take orders from the cops, readying himself to play basketball with the water creature with green eyes.

Finally, it's last bounce is the point of it charging towards Sonic, alerting Sonic to swing his leg upwards and boot it into the sky with a backflip, and then spin like a ball to charge his speed.

"No way…" The female cop is in awe of what she along with her fellow officers are seeing.

"This is what he's capable of? That's impossible…" The captain too is surprised.

"Looks like you guys underestimated him. I knew it all when I became a recruit. He's the reason I stand back up and never give up on my job." Joshua's uncle explained.

"Interesting, so that means we need him if it's an emergency, right?" The female cop asks.

"No. He's only here because of those that's precious to him. I don't know why, but that's as far as I know about him." Joshua's uncle said as he watched Sonic.

After Sonic spin dashes all the way towards the top of the building, he bounces while avoiding water bullets from a water creature that morphed back to its limbed form and tries to claw Sonic until Sonic spin dashes in the air and charges through its head.

Finally, a headless body splashes into a large puddle while Sonic lands on one hand and both feet, making him rub himself and turn towards the creature that's slithering away towards the manhole.

"Hm."

"Mr. Sonic. I don't know what to say." The captain is speechless with Sonic's actions.

"No need to thank me. Also, Mr. Langley, your nephew wants to see you." Said Sonic.

"Yeah. But why?" Joshua's uncle is curious to know what Sonic meant.

"He has no one to live with, so maybe you should talk to him."

Finally Joshua's uncle sighs, realising that Sonic is right about his nephew being all alone.

"I guess I have no other choice… Everyone, cover for me."

"Of course, Officer Langley. We'll let the higher ups know about your situation." Said the captain.

"Thank you." Joshua's uncle nods and then marches along with Sonic.

As many people of Station Square are cheering for those that fought against the water creature, arriving in the train station is Joshua's uncle and Sonic the Hedgehog, causing Joshua to rush towards both his uncle and a hedgehog.

"U- Uncle Jason!" Joshua calls as he rushes towards his uncle.

"Josh!" Jason, Joshua's uncle, rushes towards his nephew as he calls.

After an uncle and nephew embrace each other, Joshua still refuses to cry as he's bursting to tears.

"It's okay, uncle's here… I'm sorry…" Jason grunts as he also grieves for his sister's passing.

"Uncle…"

Now that Sonic's work here is done, he turns around in order to leave the crowded train station.

"Ah! Wait! Who are you?" Joshua asks, stopping Sonic from leaving.

"Heh. Just a guy that loves adventure, I'm Sonic the Hedgehog." Sonic introduces himself and disappears from the station.

Joshua can see the free spirit of this hedgehog, making him wish to be as free as Sonic.

"Sonic… I hope we see each other again."

Just like Jason, Joshua is feeling something different inside him as he and Jason are walking together towards the cops

Behind is a person holding a phone and taking photos of the events that happened during the fight.

In the end, things are at peace again.

20XX August 2nd

Standing by the fence while watching the dawn, Sonic is chugging down an energy drink that was given to him by a cat that's humming.

"So, off to your next worldwide performance, Miss. Idol?" Sonic asks as an anthropomorphic cat drinks her own energy drink and sighs.

"Yeah. But I'm glad you're here to support me when I need it the most. Normally, it would be Tails." The cat, Honey the Cat, smiles as she looks at Sonic.

Sonic, Tails and Honey have known each other in the past and Sonic and Tails usually support her when she's stressed and nervous, despite being a normally cheerful cat that likes to hang around with the boys.

"So what's going on your side?" Honey asked.

"Had a fight with an oversized bottle of water. I heard it took the life of a mother." Sonic points out.

"I heard. Who knew Station Square can be scary." Honey can see what Sonic is getting.

"Heh. If that thing comes back, then there won't be a next time." Sonic punches his palm with a grin.

"Does Eggman have something to do with it?" Honey asked.

"Not really." Sonic answers while finishing his energy drink and chucks the bottle into the bin. "Anyway, gotta bounce. You don't want your agent to get mad now, don't you?"

"Oh! You're right! See ya! Say hi to Tails for me!" Honey waves as she rushes away from Sonic during the sunrise.

After Sonic waves, he finally walks towards a building while yawning.

Yesterday's a hectic day for Sonic such as fighting Eggman to help a boy and fighting some water creature from out of nowhere.

Maybe today will be a more relaxing day for Sonic.
