Like so often lately Samus aka Mega Girl was standing on the rooftop of the highest skyscraper in Tokyo and was overlooking the city. The blonde Robot Mistress enjoyed the view from up there, you could see the famous Shibuya crossing from her point and she noticed a new illuminated advertising sign.
'Stay as cool as Ice Girl, with the sweet new ice-lollipops' she read. It was funny how things developed, as mad scientist 'Queen' Imu took over the Robot Mistresses and gained control over other robots, terrorizing the world in the process, they did not have a good reputation but as soon as the riots came to an end and everything went back to normal the popularity of her sisters had reached new heights and even her coldest one was now doing ads. They were redeeming themselves pretty well, Elec Girl hosted a masked ball for charity and it had been a big success. And yet, besides a few people, nobody knew the whole truth, that it was Samus who was responsible for stopping them when they were mad and brought them back so Dr. Light could reprogram them. The former housekeeping robot that was turned into a fighter looked down at her arm cannon. All her special weapons she previously had gathered on her missions were gone now but it was worth the sacrifice in exchange for bringing her sisters back to life. The public still didn't know about the existence of the secret hero Mega Girl but Samus never cared about fame. They also didn't have a clue about Dark aka Proto Girl, the first Robot Mistress that was ever created and the only one which was built with free will. Unfortunately she had chosen the dark side and helped Imu to escape. Samus was thinking about those two pretty often, what they were up to now because one thing was clear to her: Imu would return for revenge, that was only a question of time. And Dark would most likely assist her now. At their first encounter she seemed to be nice and helpful and ultimately she gave her the info that her sisters didn't have to stay dead but Mega Girl couldn't get over all that betrayal and mocking that happened. Proto Girl has made her choice and so she would be treated as an enemy from now on.
Dr. Light always foreshadowed what was about to come, so he shouldn't have been too surprised when the first reports of robots going berserk again were coming in. The last few weeks had been so peaceful though and things were going so well, especially regarding the first series of Robot Mistresses, so he let out a sigh when he was making calls and gathering as much information as he could about the recent attacks taking place all over the world. Only a few hours after he completed the database and Samus had entered the lab the incoming transmission call was appearing on the big screen.
"Do we really wanna hear what she's got to say?" Mega Girl asked as those speeches of the self-called queen always annoyed her.
"I'm not looking forward for this either but it's better to be warned about the things that we're gonna have to deal with, maybe we get something useful from her" the old man responded and pushed the button for the video call.
"Hello there, the Queen has returned" Imu's arrogant face and voice greeted them, "as you may have noticed we are back! But this time things are a little bit different than before, from now on we don't have to rely on your inventions! The first series of Robot Mistresses may not have been bad but it lacked the ingenuity and brilliance of a true royal genuis. Our own new package of advanced robotic combat ladies will show you who the superior scientist is and who the superior Robot Mistresses are!"
Light and Samus both rolled their eyes, her big talk was as gruesome to listen to as they remembered it and of course besides that attitude she kept dressing as usual with her elegant black dress, white gloves and a big crown on her head. Dark was also visible standing behind her in the background with crossed arms but neither did she say a word nor did she want to take the spotlight. Instead on the right side of Imu another Robot Mistress was standing and you couldn't help but be impressed about her. That brown-haired girl looked badass and outright nasty when she faced the camera with her evil smile. There were undeniably some similarities to her creator, she also had intense red eyes and she was also wearing long gloves, while hers were red. There were differences especially in clothing style as that woman seemed to love showing off to the max almost, wearing a crop top, a miniskirt and a garter belt underneath, everything in the colour schemes of black and red.
"You will never surpass Dr. Light, you overconfident bitch!" Samus yelled, she was never good at holding back her emotions towards the white-haired former lab assistant.
"You're gonna find out for yourselves" Imu responded calmly.
"Who's that girl next to you?"
"Oh, we hoped you would ask" the queen clapped her hands, "as even the dumbest people should have been able to figure out this is one of our newest creations, her name is Metal Girl, do you like her style?"
"Not much, sorry. And what a stupid name is that even? 'Metal Girl', so what were the other ones made from? Plastic?"
"Liar, our eyes clearly witnessed you staring at her in awe. And as for all of them the names will become self-explaining, we don't want to ruin the surprises though."
"I can't wait to trash the infamous Mega Girl. Wonder if you really are such a promising challenge or if you will turn out to be a pushover for me" Metal Girl spoke in the most evil and threatening way you would imagine.
"If you really have some guts, sis, you should go for her first, as she's located at a sawmill right here in Japan" Dark decided to join the conversation after all, wielding her riot shield that she seems to have kept as a trademark item.
"Since when do I let you tell me what to do?" Samus snapped back, "and by the way, I did notice that she looks like a crude mix between Imu and you, so, is she your love child or something like that?"
"Prove us if you're brave of if you are a coward" was the only thing Proto Girl stated, ignoring the provocation from the blonde with the ponytail while Imu just laughed.
"Pick whichever one you want, our Robot Mistresses are all improved and too deadly for you to handle, with that being said we think talking time is over."
After Imu ended the transmission Light immediatley kept hammering his fingers on the keyboard of his controls and a screen with the collected database about all new Robot Mistresses appeared on the screen, including photos that had been taken of them, their names and some stats like known weapons.
"Tch. I'll show you who's a coward!" Samus spoke incited.
"I don't think you should go for Metal Girl first, that's exactly what they want" Light warned her.
"No lie, she looks mighty terrifying but how bad can it be?"
"Pretty bad honestly", the doctor pressed a button and some footage of Metal Girl appeared on the screen, where she was rioting, demolishing stuff and terrorizing the workers of the sawmill.
"What is that? Is she throwing freakin' circular saws around?"
Samus couldn't deny that she was pretty shocked and despite Dark mocking her for it she decided that she didn't want to deal with that saw-wielding maniac too soon. Instead she studied the pictures and stats of the other girls a bit closer.
There was a grey-haired girl with green eyes and a ponytail in a daring cyan high cut swimsuit, according to the data she prefers to fight underwater and was using the Bubble Lead Mega Girl remembered from fighting that bubble machine robot in Imu's base as her primary weapon. Somehow Samus wasn't that eager to deal with this again.
Then there was a girl with wavy blue hair blowing in the wind, looking a bit like a sporty schoolgirl in her navy blue shirt and matching skirt. Samus couldn't tell if she should be blown away by her appearance or if Air Girl would turn out to be an airhead.
While inspecting the opposing series of Robot Mistresses both of them unfortunately could't deny that they were quite impressed by their colourful designs. Quick Girl had pink hair and her - as always rather revealing - clothes were all yellow and despite wearing golden high heels she was moving unnaturally fast. Maybe the cameras wouldn't have been able to catch a good photo if it wasn't for her stopping and making a runner pose on purpose.
Heat Girl was a thick and kinda lazy looking redhead that was wearing a yellow hoodie but she was able to create an even more dangerous heat than Fire Girl had been produced and the warm yellow eyes were instantly sending out an alarming feeling. Atomic Fire sounded like something that could melt most stuff including robot bodies away.
When seeing Wood Girl for the first time you would not automatically assume that she would be evil because her appearance resembled a forest fairy or a nymph. You could not help thinking of her as a protector of nature somehow with her long green hair and in that leave bikini as she looked so peaceful. Samus raised an eyebrow as the name implied that she had to at least partially be constructed from wood?
Second to last out of the set of eight Robot Mistresses was the ginger-haired Crash Girl, if Mega Girl had to describe her she would call her a fox that was bombing down stuff in an overkill of orange and white coloured bodysuit. She also had some freckles and the second meanest face out of all besides Metal Girl.
Last not least there was a girl with purple hair, purple eyes and a deceivingly friendly smile. Samus noticed that there were only question marks on her stats instead of a name or info about her abilities and weapons.
"Why are there so much things missing in her data?" the blonde asked.
"So far we were not able to figure out what her powers are as she hadn't been seen using them and we also weren't able to find out her name, so unfortunately this one is still a mystery to us."
Mega Girl took a closer look at the photo that has apparently been taken in front of a clocktower. The girl was wearing a purple bra, had a wristwatch on her left arm and there seemed to be some unidentifiable items in the pockets of her lilac trousers. Her body language was inviting and relaxed.
"I think I made my choice, I will go for her first!"
Light raised an eyebrow.
"Why do you think it's a good idea to start with an enemy we lack so much infos about?"
"You humans call it an intuition", Samus shrugged, "besides maybe the wooden one she's the least threatening looking out of the whole group."
"Okay, so where am I going?"
"El Salvador. The clocktower you saw on the photo has been turned into a lab, we couldn't figure out what their field of research is about yet."
"Don't know anything about that country either. Good thing that after all I'm not opposed to some surprises" Samus shrugged it off.
"One last thing, don't let her nice looking appearance fool you. This and all the other new Robot Mistresses were all built by Imu, we've seen already how shady she can be."
"How could I forget about that" Mega Girl assured before she teleported to the mysterious clocktower somewhere in that small middle-american country of El Salvador.
"Whoa, why is it so flashy inside here?"
All the walls, the floor and the ceiling seemed to be made out of some crystals or some hard coloured glass and were alternatingly illuminated in an intervall of every few seconds. It was a perfect pattern and strangely satisfying for the eyes but Samus had no clue what the purpose of that stuff could be. The path was splitting into several ways after a while, upwards, downwards and straight through the middle. Looking down there came some shots flying from the lower path, the source of it was a robot that resembled a clock on legs and was equipped with a cannon.
"Bet I have to go down, this is surely the right way" Samus spoke, speculating that the path where she was greeted with the most hostility has to be the one that needed to be protected the most and so it had to be the right one. She let herself fall down and took the Shotman out with her plasma bullets. There were some more of his buddies in her way in what turned out to be a maze. Mega Girl sometimes cleared a path only to end up standing before a massive wall, so she had to backtrack and try again.
"So, it's a shiny maze. Were they on drugs when they built this?"
There were situations when the upper path was simply too high for her to reach, so she had to take the lower one. It would not have been any issue if she still had that Magnet Beam but she had to give it back to Ivica as it was his invention and he only had that one prototype. Light had promised to construct some other items for her as replacements but so far none of them seemed to be completed yet. Samus had to shove her thoughts about Ivica Dvornic, the scientist she saved on one of her previous missions, away as the shaft was going downwards and she landed in front of a Sniper Joe that was riding on an armoured machine that jumped towards her direction and started shooting several shots.
"Damn, did you guys have to evolve?" Mega Girl cursed as she couldn't manage to avoid getting hit, then she fired back, it needed some hits to get the machine destroyed and make the Sniper Joe jump out before she could deal with the well-known security bot in the way she was used to. From here on every way lead down, occasionally Samus was greeted by some easier to destroy robots like the pipemaking Scworms or the silly Blocky that once was a member of the newly formed robot circus and was only made for entertaining purposes. It wasn't too bad, in comparison with some former missions you even could call this one rather easy although Samus got lucky that she came out on the higher path because as she looked down there were quite a bunch of those new Sniper Joe's in ther hopping machines patrolling around on the lower floor.
"Looks like I'm getting lucky for once! Glad I don't have to deal with them" she silently muttered to herself while sneaking past above them.
Finally Mega Girl reached a chamber with two sets of stairs in a row, as almost everything in this place their placements didn't make much sense if any. After she climbed the first one up that mysterious Robot Mistress came into her view, standing on top of the second stairs.
"Not bad, you made it here quite fast" the purple-haired girl stated, looking at her wristwatch.
"Thanks, while we didn't make an appointment I don't like to let anyone wait for me too long" Samus responded, "so, who are you and what the hell is this place?"
"My name is Flash Girl" she introduced herself with a friendly smile, still looking quite polite, "and in this lab the scientists are doing experiments about time."
"Time?" was the rather dumbfounded response from Mega Girl.
"How to stop or reverse time, time travelling and all, don't ask me how that maze should help, they've not been successful anyway."
"Yeah, as if something like time manipulation would ever work."
"Oh, it's not impossible. Which reminds me that I have to give you some unpleasant news", Flash Girl was taking an item out of her trousers that turned out to be a pocket watch and looked at it, "Your time is up!"
Before Samus could even ask what she meant she felt herself unable to move after Flash Girl had pressed a button on the pocket watch and then fired some shots at her opponent, the blonde was hit by all of them, being unable to dodge any bullet. Then she fell backwards, free from being frozen again.
"What the hell was that? Did you just stop time?"
"Not entirely. Only for you."
"I was not asking for this and I don't appreciate it" Samus complained, feeling foolish for having chosen the mysterious girl first. Her harmless look must have been a trap.
"And I thought when you introduced yourself that you may just have an habit of flashing your boobs or butt or whatever else body parts" she started trying to distract her opponent by blabbering about whatever came to her mind as she often did when she had no better clue how to handle the situation.
At least Flash Girl wasn't able to stop the bullets Mega Girl fired towards her and took some damage too but with the way this fight went so far the blonde would go down first if she didn't come up with an idea and let herself getting frozen in time too often. She was thinking back how she had won previous duels and there were two things coming to her mind: Using the surroundings as for example the shape of the room and back when she fought Bomb Girl in her very first life-or-death fight ever the key to success was to keep the enemy close to her.
After retreating to the entrance of the chamber using the first set of stairs as a shield obstacle to hide behind Samus started running towards the top of it but right before Flash Girl pressed the button on her pocket watch she unexpectedly let herself fall down flat on her face. This didn't avoid her from being frozen but all of the following shots missed her this time as she had noticed that the purple-haired girl only was able to shoot in a certain angle. As soon as she could move again Mega Girl started jumping directly towards her opponent as fast as she could, grabbing her arm to avoid her repeating her pattern.
"Where's your tardis now, you goddamn timelord?"
A fist fight was going on, Flash Girl tried to free herself from the grip of her taller opponent but it ended with both of them falling down the stairs. That was her chance, her arm was free and the pocket watch still in her hand, now she could use the Time Stopper again! This at least had been what she was thinking before Samus shoved her arm right into her deceivingly friendly face and destroyed it by mercilessly firing bullet after bullet into it until Flash Girl was moving no more.
"I hate when people are deceiving others with their fake smiles" Samus stated while taking out the memory chip from the lifeless body of the fallen Robot Mistress. With wide eyes it occured to her what possibilities she could have from now on if the doctor (Light, not Who) would add that weapon into her system, time manipulation was a big thing, a real step into the future! Although on the other hand she doubted that someone ever should possess such power to truly rule over time entirely, nothing good can come out of time travels.
