Roxto felt his blood go cold. "I-I ripped it off when I got him to the liu. He wasn't breathing so I did the thing Neteyam did for you and... I forgot to grab it. But he's still breathing!"
Roxto was correct. Spider was breathing fine without the mask. Kiri was in shock. "How is he breathing. He can't breathe the air here this shouldn't be-" she was cut off when Spider's eyes snapped open. They were yellow which meant that Scorpion was in control.
"Scorpion! Are you both ok?" Kiri asked.
Scorpion was still for a moment then he grabbed sand and threw it at them and ran to the forest.
Kiri and Roxto quickly wiped the sand off their faces and ran after Scorpion. "Scorpion wait!" They both shouted.
They ran into the forest. Searching for Scorpion. Though sometimes they would hear a sickening crack and a yell that sounded like Scorpion/Spider.
Scorpion has never felt so much pain. After running into the forest he started feeling like his body was breaking inside. Oh especially the back of his head, it felt like something was trying to come out. Despite the pain, Scorpion kept running. He didn't know why he ran, his mind to blurry to even notice what's going on.
He kept running and running. Until he reached the clearing, a place he knows is safe. Once he's there he instantly passes out.
He's not sure how long he's been unconscious but when he wakes up it's still night time.
He groans as he slowly pushes himself up. It felt like his whole body was sore, but mainly the back of his head. He checks to see if Spider was ok. Thankfully Spider was just unconscious for the whole thing.
He drags himself to the lake to splash his face and drink water. Not noticing something hanging from his shoulder. Once he drags himself to the lake he freezes when he sees 2 things.
One of them was his ears. They weren't human ears, they were Na'vi ears. The second was the biggest thing, looking at it, he now knows why he felt so much pain in the back of his head. Over his shoulder is a queue with blond braided hair on it.
He stared at his reflection for about 10 seconds before he screams at the top of his lungs.
Kiri isn't sure how long her and Roxto have been looking but they haven't found anything. She was getting worried.
"They couldn't have gone far." Roxto said as they kept searching.
Kiri sighs. She was very worried. The forest here was different from the one she once grew up in. Who knows what was out here.
"I have an idea."
Roxto perked up. "What plan?"
Kiri made a sad face. "We...We need to get help."
It took Roxto a moment to realize what Kiri was implying. "Kiri, we swore we would never tell anyone. And you know how Scorpion is. It took weeks until Scorpion trusted me. If we break that promise-"
"I know! But what else are we gonna do?! I-"
There was a very loud scream. Scorpion and Spider.
Without thinking, Kiri ran in the direction of the scream while Roxto went to get help.
"HOLY SHIT!" Scorpion yelled. He had his queue in his hand examining it. "SPIDER! WAKE UP!!!" He forced Spider awake.
"Huh! What the! What ha-" sees the queue and the ears from the reflection of the lake and screams. It's a good thing Scorpion is still in control.
"WHAT IS THAT!?"
"A queue and your ears, obviously."
"HOW THE FUCK DID THAT GET THERE!? AND WHAT HAPPENED TO MY EARS!?"
"I don't know. Maybe it has something to do with what happened with the Tree of Souls. Something with what Neteyam said. About Eywa seeing our struggles and will help us."
"Great. Just great."
"Are you not happy to have a queue?"
"*sigh* I am. But I'm also worried about what will happen when we go back with Na'vi ears and a queue. What if Kiri and Roxto tell someone?"
"Spider... I can't predict the future. But I can promise that nothing will split us apart." Grabs the projects he's been working on. "I have something for you." Let's Spider take control.
Spider looks and what he sees shocks him.
There's a hunters bow that's perfect for him, the perfect weight and size. Then there was a quiver full of arrows that had feathers with green and blue stripes. And then there was a bunch of beads for his songcord, each different size and color.
"I looked through all of your memories and made all the beads that you don't have on your songcord. Like when you were born, first steps, first word, etc."
Spider was silent, tears filled his eyes. No one has ever given him a gift like this. No one has ever took the time to craft him a hunter bow, a quiver full of arrows, and most of all, beads to his songcord. Yes his friends have given him gifts, but not like this. Scorpion went and spent however long to craft Spider a hunter's bow, Omatikaya style, along with the quiver and the arrows. And he searched all of Spider's memories to make a bead for every important moment of Spider's life.
That's something no one has ever done.
With tears in his eyes and a shaky breath, he whispered. "Thank you."
Scorpion smiled, took control of Spider's arms, and made adjustments to his songcord.
It took 2-3 minutes, but when Scorpion finished, he gave Spider back control of his arms to let Spider see his songcord.
Spider looked in awe at his songcord. Originally his songcord didn't have many beads, but now it looked perfect in Spider's eyes.
"I am glad you like your gifts." This is the moment Scorpion was waiting for. "It's a shame that no one else would take the time to do something like this for you. It shows how much the others care for you, especially the Sully's."
Spider opens his mouth to say something but Scorpion cuts him off.
"Don't try to defend them. You know I'm right. They left you behind, and before you say "They had to" don't. That's not why I'm mad. I'm mad at the reason they left you behind is because Jake and Neytiri thought that you would snitch on them. THAT is why I'm mad. And they have the audacity to pretend that nothing happened."
Spider couldn't really argue, no matter how much he wanted to. He couldn't. It also upset him that they thought he would turn his back on them like if he wasn't loyal to the na'vi.
Scorpion sighs and was about to speak when they both heard footsteps.
Spider tensed up and instinctively climbed up a tree to stay hidden.
They saw a group of Metkayina run by with torches and spears. Calling out Spider's name.
Scorpion took control and spoke to Spider in his mind. "They are looking for us. Kiri and Roxto must've said something."
Spider gulps. "Do you think they told them about you?"
"I don't know."
Spider jumps down from the tree once the group was out of hearing distance. "Better keep going." He whispered.
Scorpion silently agreed.
Spider continues to walk through the forest. Being silent. The new ears help him greatly.
In a way he felt more like a Na'vi with these changes. And hopes there's more to come. He has always imagined what he'd look like as a Na'vi. He's dreamt it for so long. Though he still wonders why-
"Spider."
Spider and Scorpion froze.
Neytiri.
Spider turns to her and sees her with her bow. It was taking all of Scorpion not to take control and attack.
"Spider." Neytiri speaks again. "Reveal this Scorpion."
Almost instantly Spider's eyes go yellow and Scorpion snarls. "Kiri and Roxto told you about me?"
Neytiri's ear twitch. "Norm is on his way to do a brain scan."
Scorpion hissed and knocked an arrow and pointed it to Neytiri. Causing her to do the same.
"No one is getting a brain scan. Leave us be."
Neytiri narrows her eyes. "Put the bow down. You do not want this fight."
Scorpion chuckles. "You don't know how long I've waited for this."
Neytiri lowers her bow slightly. An emotion flashed in her eyes faster than Scorpion could see.
"Fight me, and Spider will be hurt. Is this your wish?"
Crap. Scorpion forgot what happens if the other were to die. Spider dies, Scorpion "dies." Scorpion "dies," Spider becomes brain dead.
Having Spider attached to tubes while Norm and the others try to "help" Spider is something he doesn't want so, with a snarl, he puts the arrow away and slings the arrow over his shoulder. "Fine. You win this time Neytiri. But I will NOT allow a brain scan to happen."
Neytiri puts her own arrow away and slings the bow over her shoulder. "We will cross that bridge when it happens. Come." Turns and walks off.
Scorpion follows angrily while he mumbles to Spider. "Trusting Kiri and Roxto was a mistake."
Spider didn't say anything against that. Part of him wants to defend them. To say that they were just worried after what happened. But the other part fears what will happen now that they broke their promises.
