Hey friends! Here is chapter two! If you haven't already, I highly suggest watching A Castle For Christmas!
Disclaimer: See chapter one.
Side Note: Ages have been changed; Myles is 42, Sophie is 38, and Lexi is 4 getting ready to turn 5.
Enjoy!
As soon as Myles heard the woman yell at him to get away from her daughter, he knew he was in trouble. It was something that he figured might happen.
"What the hell are you doing with my daughter?"
He gulped. "The wee lass was playing by herself and then started sobbing. I ran over and asked if she was okay. She got stung by something and she started to have some sort of bad reaction. Grabbed my epi-pen from my truck and gave it to her. Nothing untoward."
All Sophie did was glare at him. Could Sophie really trust him with her daughter? The last man she had trusted with her daughter was her ex-husband and that is something she did not want to have happen again. She was cautious with who she let into her and her daughter's lives; she couldn't handle it if something happened to the both of them again.
"Alright," she paused, turning toward her daughter Lexi. "Lexi, honey. Can you tell me what you think stung you?"
"I tinks it was a black and yellwo bug," she sniffled.
"Shoot. Lexi was probably stung by a bee and she is allergic to them. Can you excuse us so I can get her home and let her rest?"
"By all means, do what's best for the lass."
While he watched the mystery woman and her daughter walk away, he couldn't deny that he felt a spark of something. Of what, he was unsure of.
xXx
The following couple of weeks were torture for both Myles, Sophie and Lexi. For Myles, it was because at the west end of his property was a two-story brick building and someone seemed to be living in it. In the past, there had been a few break-ins and some vandalism here and there. He noticed that there was always one singular light on and he decided to do something about the unknown occupant; he decided to try and inconvenience them until they decided to leave. Myles didn't take too kindly to people messing with his property.
For Sophie, she was tortured by the fact that someone was trying to push her out of her own home, and she didn't take kindly to that. If it was just her, she wouldn't have been as angry, but she had Lexi to think about and that was the fact that angered her so much. Finally, her confusion and anger reached a breaking point and it wasn't until a conversation with Helen, that every single frustration over the situation became known. To all of the village. After all, gossip travels fast.
