YES. This story is canon to Connar's story!
"Over The Rainbow" is a side story that takes place about 3 years BEFORE she started Duel Academy. It places itself during her time spent at Duel Prep School. As such: IT CONTAINS SPOILERS.
So. Spoiler Warning. Enjoy^^
As the Party heated up it was quick and easy for Connar and Jesse to sneak a way. They hung out in the decorative hall just outside the doors of the ball room where the party was being held, sitting close together entertaining themselves by playing with Ruby.
"I dare say, Ruby really likes you!" Jesse chuckled as he playfully rolled her around and she clutched to his hand,"She's usually rather shy with strangers."
"Really? I almost took her home with me~!" she giggled,"She's so cute~" She smiled as she lifted Ruby into her arms and hugged her warmly to which the creature responded with happy chirps and purrs,
"Man Ruby don't even let me love on her like that!" Jesse laughed,"Little traitor!"
"Kyuuuu~!"
"Well...I guess you could say I'm...somewhat of a Spirit Whisperer?" Connar giggled when Ruby leapt into her arms once again with happy purrs.
"No Kiddin'." Jesse grinned as he leaned back against the wall,"So tell me Connie, how long have you been able to see Duel Spirits?"
'Connie'?
Connar blinked.
He certainly got familiar really quick didn't he?
She chuckled.
But I kinda like it...Connie.
"My whole life 'I Reckon'." Connar giggled playfully.
"You pokin' fun at me and the way I talk Connie!?" Jesse asked with a smirk as he poked her sides and she let out a soft squeal and giggle.
"Not in a bad way!" she laughed,"I actually Kinda like it~"
"Hmph, brave girl~!" he teased with a cocked brow.

"Has anyone seen my daughter!?" a familiar husky voice echoed in the halls and startled the two as they peeked around the corner and found Seto Kaiba speaking on the phone," So then find her!" he hissed,"And If I find anything bad has happened to her, it will be your head served to me on a platter!" he scoffed and quickly hung up in frustration as he leat out a heavy sigh.
"Come on Seto, calm down." said Mokuba,"It hasn't been that long she can't have gone far." he stated,"She probably got bored and just went out for some air, these parties can't be all that fun for her..."
"Fun or not they are part of her role, Mokuba, as they are ours!" he huffed,"Like it or not She is a Kaiba now! She must always represent!"
"Even so, Seto, we gotta remember she's still just a pre-teen girl." said Mokuba,"We could cut her a little slack, couldn't we?"
"If only we had the slack to allow." Kaiba huffed,"I'm a busy man Mokuba and the last thing I need is my daughter, the corporate heiress showing up in the slander feeds of the paper!"
"I understand Seto..." Mokuba sighed,"Look...just go calm down, entertain your guests I'll keep looking for her."
"Fine." he huffed and marched back inside.
Connar gulped and quickly ducked back behind the wall.
"Oh no...I was gone too long now My dad might call the national Guard or something." she sighed.
"Wait...your dad!?" Jesse blinked,"But... that was Mr. Kaiba...wasn't it?" he thought for a moment and gasped,"You mean to tell me Seto Kaiba is your Daddy!?"
"...What did you think the K in my name stood for?" Connar blinked.
"K in your name?" Jesse blinked,"I-I thougt Kay was your name!"
Connar snorted and giggled into her hand as Jesse's facial expression had changed atleast three times in this conversation and he soon joined her.
Okay...maybe I COULD have been a little more clear about that...
"Well I'll be-I've been spending time with an heiress! I must have been so inappropriate!" he blushed,"Oh god- How dorky was I!?"
"It's fine!" Connar chuckled patting his shoulder,"Really...it was nice to just be...me for once!" she said.
"Huh?" Jesse blinked and Connar let out a heavy sigh as she pet the sleeping Ruby.
"Peolple know who I am...I gotta say I'm surprised that you didn't." she chuckled,"But I'm glad...It felt nice to just...talk." she stated,"So many people want to get close to me...to know me...but it's not really me they're interested in." she sighed as her eyes rested on the KC logo that could be found through out the building.
"...I see..." said Jesse,"I guess because I'm such a normal guy I don't really think too much on what it might be like on the fancy side of life." he blinked and thought for a moment before letting off a grin,"I guess it ain't always so rosy on the other side, huh?" he chuckled, "So! What are we gonna do?"
"Huh?" Connar blinked.
"You heard me~! This is a rescue mission!" he beamed,"Tell me what to do!"
"Well first..."Connar chuckled,"I should go and let them know that I'm all right-"
"THERE YOU ARE!"
"Eeeek!"
Connar let out a squeal as her uncle startled her from behind, exposing their hiding place,"Connar Rose, what are you doing!?" he snapped,"Your father is worried sick about you!"
"I-I know b-but I can explain!" she stammered,"Th-There was a situation-"
"A sistuation, huh?" Mokuba blinked and leered over to the male right next to her who gulped.
"L-Look...don't be mad at Connie..." he said softly.
Connie?
Mokuba blinked.
"She's only out here because of me...it was stuffy inside so I thought it would be good for us to get some air-"
"And you are...?" Mokuba blinked as he crossed his arms.
"Ah-right...the name's Jesse!"
"Jesse?" Mokuba blinked as he sifted through his guest list,"Jesse...Jesse...Anderson?" he asked.
"That's right!"
"I see..."Mokuba huffed as he returned the list to its clipped state,"We invite you as a special guest...and you decide to run away with the corporate heiress?" he blinked and crossed his arms looking down on him mennacingly,"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't have you arrested?"
"Uncle Mokey! Please!"
"N-Now hold on...it's not like that-!" Jesse panicked and Mokuba, though trying to maintain a serious threatening expression eventually cracked and laughed.
"Relax..." he said,"I'm joking. You don't seem like that type." he chuckled, allowing Jesse to let out a heavy sigh of relief.
"Still you need to be careful, if some sleazy tabloid saw you it would mean Hell for the Kaiba name."
"I understand, Uncle Mokey, I'm so sorry." Connar bowed apologetically.
"So?" Mokuba blinked,"Explain. Now."
"Right...that...uhm..." Connar gulped,"It's kinda hard to explain...but...you see-"
Though before she could get her explaination organized in her head, Ruby had took a playful pounce into Mokuba's face, and since he couldn't see her, to him it felt like an invisible force had knocked him back while he let out a sudden cry and fell backwards onto the floor in a dazed expression.
What the hell was that!?
He thought to himself.
"Uncle Mokey!" Connar called out and winced as she heard the thud when he fell.
"Ruby!" Jesse snapped,"That was rude how could you!?"
"Ruby?" Mokuba blinked as he looked around but saw nothing and no one.
This could only mean one thing...
He gulped and let out a groan and a sigh as he let himself fall completely back laying with his back to the carpeted floor.
"Connar..." he said as calmly as he could,"What was that?"
"Th-that was...uhm..."
"I asked you a question, Connar." Mokuba stated,"...And don't tell me it was a duel spirit." he blinked and she gulped.
"It was...a...um...cat?"
"...A Cat." Mokuba repeated.
"Y-yes that's right so the situation is-"
"No, no. no! I don't need any explainatinons!" Mokuba said interrupting her as he waved his hand for her to stop talking,"I will go stall for time with Seto and let him know you're fine." Mokuba said,"You just do...whatever it is you need to do to take care of the...cat." he sighed rising to his feet and dusting himself off,"And please...try not to take too long." Mokuba stated,"You're expected back you know."
"Y-Yes sir...I understand..." She nodded and bowed once more as her uncle walked off as though nothing had happened, entering once more back into the grand ball room that the party was being held in.
"So...uhm..." Jesse blinked,"...What!?"
"My, uh...father...doesn't really believe in duel spirits." she stated," He claims they are just a bunch of hocus pocus...but my uncle on the other hand..." she blinked,"Well...he's a little more...open minded with his denial."
"I see..." Jesse blinked as he held Ruby and gave her a serious look.
"You see that Ruby? You need to behave yourself!" he said,"Otherwise you'll get Connie in a lot of trouble...understand?"
"Kyuuu..." she let out a sad purr and drooped her ears.
"It's okay." said Connar,"I'm sure she only wanted to play with Mokuba, she didn't mean any harm." she chuckled,"I promise to play again later Ruby but please be more careful from now on, okay?"
"Kyuuu~!" she let out a happy chirp and wagged her tail as she leapt out of Jesse's arms and right back into his deck.
"Hopefully she'll stay in there for a while." said Jesse,"Shall I...escort you back, milady?" he smiled offering his arm.
"Why thank you, my good sir~" she smiled sweetly, bowed politely, and gently took his arm as he led her back to the galla.

"Connar Rose! Where have you been!" Seto Kaiba huffed with crossed arms as his daughter was escourted back to him safely.
"I'm sorry, dad..." she said softly,"It was getting stuffy for me and the corset made it very hard to breathe...so this gentleman escorted me into the hall for some air."
Jesse bowed apologetically.
"I'm sorry sir, we should have come to you first."
"Indeed it would have saved from some trouble..." Seto huffed and sighed,"To be fair...I never liked the corset." he stated,"It wasn't my idea, I only liked the dress." he blinked,"You may feel free to remove it if you wish. You don't really need it anyway."
"Thank you daddy~!" Connar smiled sweetly.
"Just be sure to let me know next time you decide to wander off for some air, I can have your uncle escort you, understood?"
"Yes sir, I'm very sorry." she bowed sadle.
He sighed.
"...I'm not angry." he said gently,"I was just worried...your uncle was kidnapped quite often in his younger days, and seeing as you are my daughter the risks for that happening to you too are very high if we don't take precautions."
"I understand." she said softly.
"Come on then." said Jesse,"I can help you out of that corset if you want, it does look like it's tied quite tightly in the back..."
"...Or her dressers...can help her with her corset." Seto leered sending visible chills through the blue haired boy's body.
"O-Oh r-right of course! How inappropriate of me-" he stated,"I assure you , sir, I didn't mean any harm by it."
Mokuba snickered for a bit at the situation before stepping in.
"Come on Seto, there's no need to glare."he said gently,"Connar is fine and Jesse brought her back to us safely..." he blinked,"They seem to just be friends, so let's just let them enjoy the rest of the party, okay?"
"...Fine." Seto huffed,"But stay within my sights at all times!"
"You heard him." Mokuba smirked.
"Yes sir!" Jesse gulped and bowed politely.

The rest of the party went on without a hitch and Connar did finally give that dance to Jesse that he suggested during their earlier meeting.
It went on until late in the evening...
When clean up was finally taken care of, they awaited for their limo to arrive.
"Connie!" a familiar southern twang called for Connar and she blinked to acknowledge its owner.
"Hey...Jesse!" she said walking up to meet him half way.
"I just wanted to say it was a mighty fine pleasure meeting you today." he said with a sweet smile.
"Thank you...I enjoyed myself too." she returned his gesture and averted her gaze,"I'm a little sad that this is good bye..." she said softly,"I'm really gonna miss Ruby."
"Oh...only Ruby?" Jesse hiffed with a playful pout while Connar giggled playfully in return.
"Tell you what." he smiled as he pulled out a piece of paper and scribbled something on it,"No one says this has to be the end." he grinned and handed it over to her.
"...A phone number?" Connar blushed.
"Sure is." Jesse beamed,"My phone number!" he winked,"If ever you have the free time...feel free to give me a jangle! You know...whenever you wanna talk to Ruby~." he smirked playfully and winked which only made her blush more and giggle to herself.
"Okay...then here." she said as she swiped his phone from his pocket and punched in her own digits,"I'll give you my number too, okay?"
"Sweet!" Jesse grinned as she returned his phone to him and he waved it playfully,"You just signed your life to me!" he teased,"Now I'm never gonna leave you alone! Later~!" he laughed and waved farewell to the pink haired girl as he walked away.
Not long after when he was only a few feet away she squeaked out a startled squeal as a vibration buzzed ticklishly against her side from her accessory purse, pulling out her own pink phone and looking at its notification contents.

And So it begins...Now! ;3
"Pff..." Connar chuckled and glanced back toward the blue haired male who continued walking now a good distance away.
"Hmmm...Jesse." she smiled as she repeated his name, soon pulled from her day dream by the driver who opened her door for her and she slid inside, waiting now for her uncle and father to take their seats within as well.
"I'm not sure I trust that guy..." Seto muttered as he watched the boy walk off.
"Oh, come off it, Seto." Mokuba chuckled,"So she's made a friend, it's not like there was anyone else her age at the party tonight." he stated,"The Princeton's couldn't make it this time so she couldn't exactly spend her time with their youngest heir, Chazz." he shrugged.
"Hmph...I'd rather she didn't give her time to anyone of the Princeton family anyway." he muttered,"They have stopped at nothing to try to have a hold on my company." he stated,"It wouldn't even surprise me if they tried to offer a marriage contract to me as well."
"You mean like the adviors did for that Aster Pheonix, guy?"
"That Kid is even younger than Connar!" Seto huffed.
"Only by a year." Mokuba chuckled,"Plus he's a favorite in the Pro leagues."
"Hmph...Pro league duelist or not, Connar can make her own decisions." Seto scoffed," I never married and I'm a huge success and I have a child." he stated,"Why should I expect any less from her?" he blinked," Who Connar chooses to marry and love will be her choice when she's ready to make it. For now...Why not let her just be?"
"I gotta say." Mokuba chuckled,"That's pretty cool of you, Seto.
"Hmph...Maybe I can be considered a tyrant at times but I'm not a total monster." he huffed,"She deserves to have...some sort of childhood I suppose." he said,"...I got her because you wanted her to be part of our family anyway."
"Hey, don't you dare pin that whole thing on me!" Mokuba argued,"You wanted her too!" he teased,"Admit it! The minute she threw her tiny self around your legs and called you Kaibaman, -who just so happened to be her favore superhero- you melted like butter and fell in love~" he smirked.
Seto coughed, pretending to clear his throat as he blushed.
Mokuba knew he won.
"Uh-huh." he smirked victoriously.
"...She knew who I was." Seto chuckled.
"She sure did." said Mokuba as he chuckled as well,"And she hasn't told a soul, just like she promised!"
"Heh..." Kaiba laughed lightly and sighed,"That's because Connar is smart," he stated,"Always has been...that's how I know she can be trusted to make the right decision for herself."
He smiled and slid into the seat opposite of Connar who had fallen asleep on her own side, long ways, so Mokuba had to slide in next to Seto.
"This kid..." Mokuba chuckled.
"Yeah...the right decision for herself..." Seto blinked and let out a sigh as he removed his long white coat and draped it over her like a blanket.
"...Some Day."
