Everyone else was still passed out in the lounge, so Bob decided to go check on Maverick and Rooster.
From what he heard in the plane and seen when they were being taking to medical, Bob gathered that they had been beat up pretty badly. He didn't know what happened to them when they were caught. He had a feeling he didn't want to find out. All that really mattered was to see if they were okay.
He got permission to enter the Med Bay, and found that both had survived the night, although Rooster did flatline a few more times. Bob walked into the private room, seeing that they were put together. He pulled up a chair, setting it in between both the beds.
Maverick had an oxygen mask on, and they had changed his flight suit to a hospital gown. There was an IV taped to his wrist, which had water, medicine and blood attached to it, along with a lot of other wires. His head was bandaged up tightly, and his left leg was elevated on a small pillow. The doctors had told him that Maverick had to go into surgery to get the bullet out. He also had a pretty bad infection, along with a mild concussion and a hip that had been relocated. They had put him in a medicine induced sleep after he'd gotten confused about where he was and tried running away. He was malnourished, dehydrated, and that a lot of sleep loss. Maverick also gotten a few stitches in some, what looked like, man-made wounds.
Rooster was far worse though. The blankets were pulled up to his hips, and his chest was wrapped tightly with white bandages. He was connected to a heart machine, which had irregular heartbeats every now and then. He, like Maverick, also had a oxygen mask and IV. His arm was wrapped up. Bob learned that the doctors also had to do surgery to reconnect the bone correctly. Rooster was put in a medicine induced sleep also. They'd found far more 'man-made' wounds on him than Maverick, and it also looked like they'd tried poisoning him, but they weren't sure. Just to be safe though, they gave him medicine. Rooster had some stitches, a bad lung problem and some bruises from having to eject from the plane. Poor guy.
Bob sat there in the cold, sanitary room, watching their chests rise and fall steadily. He did his own check up on them, just to make certain that they were going to be okay. He sighed, a lump rising in his throat. For the past six days, he'd been so worried, so scared and upset and had gotten zero sleep. To top it all off, he hadn't really been getting good sleep recently due to his anxiety spiking up from being transferred to TOPGUN, and just sudden change, new people, and a new environment. He hid it well behind an expressionless face, so no one else knew. He couldn't tell his parents; they had died, and he couldn't exactly tell friends; they didn't last long enough.
He could rest now that he knew they were safe.

Hangman was once again sitting in the hospital. It had been four long, exhausting days since they'd found their teammates. Thankfully, they were now stable, not exactly healthy, but on the road of recovery. Neither of them had really been awake, and if they were they were never aware of what was going on.
Hangman listened to the steady heartbeats of Rooster and Maverick. He was sitting there, lost in his thoughts, when he saw something twitch. He looked closer. Rooster's fingers were twitching. Hangman watched him stir in his sleep, moving around.
Hangman glanced around the room and saw that the rest of the team were sleeping peacefully. Well, except Bob. Hangman had a feeling Robert hadn't gotten any sleep at all in at least two weeks. Bob was also watching Rooster.
Rooster stirred more and his eyes fluttered open, blinking confusedly. His eyes locked onto Hangman's.
"Hey Hangman," Rooster whispered hoarsely, "You look good."
Hangman froze for a second, then smiled, emotions begging to show, "I am good, Rooster." He answered, "I'm very good."
