Chapter 5: Preparations for the Princess
At the Royal Palace of Sand Zone, the activity was frenetic in anticipation of the arrival of Princess Bastemon. Since her visit was announced, the palace staff had mobilized to ensure that everything was impeccable for the noble guest.
The palace gardens were being adorned with exotic flowers and colourful banners, creating a festive and welcoming atmosphere. Music and dance performances were planned to entertain the princess and her entourage, while the chefs worked diligently to prepare exquisite delicacies for the royal banquet to be held in her honour.
Inside the palace, the halls were filled with activity as they were cleaned and decorated for the occasion. Servants polished silver and gold, placing gleaming candelabras on the tables and adjusting the curtains to let in the sunlight. Luxurious rooms were prepared to accommodate the princess and her retinue, with beds adorned with silk sheets and feather pillows.
Meanwhile, Junior personally supervised every detail, aware of the importance of the visit in strengthening the bonds between Sand Zone and Lake Zone. He was determined to ensure that everything went perfectly. It was his father who appointed him as the one in charge of preparing everything, seeing this task as a test to evaluate his leadership skills and ability to command. Junior took this responsibility seriously, trying to prove himself up to the expectations.
Amidst the bustle, Pharaohmon supervised the whole process with an iron hand, ensuring that every aspect was in place and that no detail was overlooked. His imposing presence instilled a sense of discipline and efficiency in the palace staff, who worked tirelessly under his watchful gaze.
From the top of the Purple Pyramid, Archnemon observed with interest the preparations taking place at the Royal Palace of Sand Zone. Although she did not intervene directly in the organization of the event, her curiosity was deeply rooted in the implications that the princess's arrival would have for the future of the kingdom.
The view from her room provided her with a complete panorama of the frenetic activity unfolding in the gardens and halls of the palace. The movements of the servants and the flashes of light reflecting off the festive decorations on the banners kept her absorbed in her thoughts.
For Archnemon, every detail of the preparations was a piece in the complex puzzle that shaped Sand Zone's politics. Princess Bastemon's arrival not only represented an opportunity to strengthen the bonds between kingdoms but also raised new questions about the balance of power in the region.
From her privileged position at the top of the pyramid, Archnemon reflected on the possible political and strategic implications of the royal visit. How would the presence of the princess influence the power dynamics among the different members of the royal family? What political games would unfold behind the scenes during her stay?
These questions lingered in Archnemon's mind as she critically observed the movements of those involved in the preparations. Although she did not actively participate in the organization of the event, her ability to read between the lines and anticipate the moves of her adversaries allowed her to stay one step ahead in Sand Zone's complicated political landscape.
Meanwhile, Gravimon was far from feeling enthusiastic. Although he had always welcomed the princess with joy in the past, this time was different. The additional security at the palace complicated his plans to discreetly get rid of Archnemon, whose presence was beginning to hinder his path to absolute power.
The presence of additional guards and reinforced surveillance made any attempt at stealthy action difficult. Gravimon had meticulously devised a plan to eliminate the spider without arousing suspicion, but the sudden arrival of the princess and the increased security threatened to expose his intentions. The assassination attempt would have to be postponed.
Moreover, he feared the worst: would Archnemon try to somehow seduce the princess to consolidate her influence over Sand Zone? Or, even worse, was she planning to attempt the princess's life? The strategic coincidence between Bastemon's visit and the possible arrival of more of Archnemon's subjects created a tense atmosphere filled with potential dangers.
He felt tremendously frustrated: his subordinates' attempts to spy on Archnemon were proving fruitless, increasing his sense of paranoia and distrust towards the spider. While Gravimon awaited reports from his vassals, the prince immersed himself in hours of perfecting Bolgmon, who practiced tirelessly in the desert, exploring new combat techniques that could be useful in case of confrontation.
Each advance in Bolgmon's training was a small victory that brought him one step closer to his goal of protecting his family and kingdom from any threat. However, the uncertainty about Archnemon's true motives kept him on edge. It was affecting his health: the weight loss and lack of sleep were palpable. However, he was determined to uncover the truth, even if it meant facing the consequences of his actions.
The day before Princess Bastemon's arrival, tension at the Royal Palace of Sand Zone reached its peak as the final details were discussed to receive the illustrious guest. However, a crucial dilemma arose that threatened to thwart all their plans. While discussing the final details with his father, Pharaohmon, differences of opinion arose about how and where to receive the princess's entourage: at the entrance of Sand Zone or at the entrance of the city?
"I think it would be more appropriate to receive the princess and her entourage at the entrance of Sand Zone," argued Junior, with palpable determination in his voice. "It is the first point of contact with our kingdom, and it would be an appropriate way to welcome them."
Pharaohmon slightly furrowed his brow, contemplating his son's proposal with a pensive expression. "I understand your point of view, Junior," he responded calmly, "but I believe it would be more convenient to receive the princess at the entrance of the city. It is more suitable for protocol and would allow them to reach the palace more comfortably."
"I think it would be a gesture of courtesy to receive the princess at the entrance of Sand Zone. It shows that we are eager to welcome her," argued Junior, his tone reflecting his firm conviction.
The tension in the air was palpable as father and son debated the most appropriate course of action. In the midst of the discussion, Gravimon subtly intervened, seizing the opportunity to express his opinion.
"I think we should consider the opinion of the royal advisers before making a decision," suggested Gravimon, with a calculating look directed towards Junior. "Their experience and knowledge could be valuable in this matter."
Junior felt momentarily bewildered by his brother's interruption, but quickly regained his composure. Before he could respond, Archnemon intervened in defense of Junior, backing up his position with solid arguments.
"Junior is right in emphasizing the importance of making a good first impression," pointed out Archnemon, with a serenity that contrasted with the agitation in the room. "Receiving the princess at the entrance of Sand Zone would be a wise gesture that would demonstrate our respect for her and her entourage."
Archnemon's words resonated in the room, offering unexpected support to Junior amid the debate. However, Junior's proposal continued to be met with skepticism from his father, Pharaohmon, and with more open opposition from Gravimon, whose imposing presence filled the room with palpable tension.
"We don't want to appear eager to receive her," emphasized Pharaohmon, pointing out the importance of maintaining an image of calm and composure.
"Eager? We will rather seem desperate," replied Gravimon sarcastically, crossing his arms over his chest in disapproval.
Junior, with his bold vision and desire to make a memorable impression, advocated for receiving the royal entourage at the entrance of Sand Zone. He argued that this gesture would not only honor the princess but also highlight the beauty and grandeur of their kingdom from the very beginning. "It's an opportunity to show our hospitality from the threshold of our border," he insisted. "It could also make her journey safer, avoiding the Scorpiomon."
However, Pharaohmon, clinging to official protocol and tradition, preferred to receive the guests at the entrance of the city. He argued that this was the appropriate place according to royal protocol, in addition to providing a more formal and less overwhelming welcome for the princess and her entourage.
Gravimon, on the other hand, although indifferent to protocol, was reluctant to yield ground. "I don't want the princess to feel overwhelmed or pressured from the moment she arrives," he argued vehemently, his words resonating with an authority that brooked no reply.
Junior's challenging gaze met his brother's, but he was determined to stand firm in his position. He knew that this was an opportunity to demonstrate his leadership and decision-making skills, and he was not going to back down without a fight.
Archnemon, always calm and diplomatic, backed Junior's proposal, eager to annoy Gravimon. "I agree with Junior. It would be a kind and respectful gesture that would demonstrate our sincere interest in welcoming the princess and her entourage," she expressed with her usual serenity, seeking to soften the tension in the room.
"Whose side are you really on, Archnemon?" he inquired, his voice filled with distrust. "You don't even know her, neither her nor our traditions. Are you trying to hinder the princess's reception?"
Archnemon remained unperturbed by the challenge, but the defiant gleam in her eyes made it clear that she would not allow her impartiality to be questioned without a proper response. "My loyalty has always been to Sand Zone and its royal family," she replied firmly. "I will not allow you to question my commitment or my integrity."
The dispute between the brothers threatened to spiral out of control when Pharaohmon finally intervened, his voice resonating with authority as he ordered Gravimon to leave the room. "Gravimon, that's enough," he declared firmly, his stern gaze directed towards his younger son.
Gravimon glared at his father, but he knew he could not openly defy his authority. With a growl of frustration, he turned and left the room, his dark expression revealing the resentment burning within him.
With Gravimon's departure, the atmosphere in the room relaxed noticeably. As the discussion came to an end, Junior felt an even greater sense of responsibility weighing on his shoulders. His father's decision to back his proposal filled him with gratitude, but also with a renewed sense of commitment to make the princess's visit unforgettable.
After Gravimon left the room, leaving an echo of tension in his wake, Pharaohmon turned to Junior with a serious yet understanding look. "You have shown courage and conviction in your arguments, son," he said proudly in his voice. "It's important that you continue to trust your instincts and defend what you believe is right."
Junior nodded gratefully to his father, feeling a warm relief at receiving his support. He knew that although the decision on the reception venue for the princess had been resolved, there were still challenges ahead.
