The next witiness to come forward to the stand was Tonia, Hondo felt his stomach, this is definitely make matters worst, we are already in a custody issue with her and now we gotta deal with her testifying against, this cannot getting any worst.

Tonia entered into the stand, once behind the stand, she was sworn in and the lawyers began questioning her, first being the prosecutor.

Tonia: I am a cook for the Compass Restraurant

The prosecutor: Thank you for coming here today, now to begin. Now from you file, you are currently suing for custody for Darryl Henderson

The prosecutor: Now, there's been gap of you not being Darryl's guardian for the last years, the last year that you have been with him, he's been evicted by your second husband, is that correct.

Tonia: I was not financially stable, so alot of time I had to resort to having family members care for him, it was painful but I needed to prove for him

Tonia: For the last year I have been working at my new employment currently, I have left my second husband due to issues, I couldn't have an environment for Darryl where he could feel safe.

Tonia: I didn't want him to be in a environment where my husband and I constantly fighting, so I made the decision to leave him, and since then I been by myself, I'm making an attempt to rebuild my relationship with my son.

The defense: Well, I got some questions for you in regards for your relationship with your son, according to the file you have been in and out of your son's life yes?

The defense: Ladies and gentlemen of the courtroom, we gathered here today because of story of two officers and their effort to give a child a better life. And instead of applauding them, we are judging them, doesn't our system have enough children suffering in the system? Shouldn't be happy when there's someone out there that wants to help a child out of the horror of our American foster system?

And why is it a sin for them be married? Why does they're story have to be of typical love story we see on TV? So what if they aren't acting a certain that couples do? If they were show there love, the whole world they would gather against them. As we know that the world has a stigma against same sex couples, and it's 2021!

So, ladies, why don't we make the right the decision, allow these two people remain together, and give this young child, the life he deserve, a family, a home, and life of peace.

The two men froze

The judge: I'll allow, if and can preform this act, then the act alone should prove their relationship.

The court waited for them to kiss, Hondo and Street slowly turned to each other, feeling the eyes gazing at them, they made the motion towards each other. Everyone intently stared as they watched the couple made an attempt to kiss each other. They only reached an inch before they broke off each other

The judge looked at Chandler with a scowling look

The judge: Very well, Mr. Harrelson and considering that you have failed to prove your relationship, I will have no choice but to charge you with martial fraud. As for your situation in regards towards Darryl Henderson, we will have to remove him from your custody

Hondo: Your Honour!

Hondo was silent, there was nothing that can be said to change the judge's mind, and matter of fact it would make things worst.

It was a half a year since the trial, due the circumstances in regarding Tonia's case with Darryl, she was rewarded Darryl custody, though there was some dispercies in her situation. As a test of faith, the judge allowed her to have her son, as there isn't relatives that could take him.

As for Hondo and Street, that was a huge blow to everything they worked for, however they were lucky in aspect, they didn't get jail time but there was probation that they had been on for a good several months. They lucky to even have their jobs even after everything that happened. Then again, there was one defeat they couldn't shake off, Darryl going back to his mother, they know that he won't be long before he will be push back the way as before. And his mother falling back before. Hondo would know, he seen it before too many times before the kid entered his life, he saw he was going to wrong way, which is what caused him to reach out. And now, it's right back to before.

After all of that, Street ended up moving out, it wasn't like they were married, married, they just needed to able to bring kid home. It wasn't like that were in love, they were working together to give a kid a good life. Street although not married to Hondo, gave his support through and through. With the current situation, he knows his friend going to need a shoulder to cry on. He feels like he failed the kid, he gotten defeated by the system and whole world just beat him in the gut repeatedly until he was down.

Street: Hey man, how are you feeling?

Hondo: I'm alive that's for one

Street: I'm sorry for everything that went down, I feel like I honestly caused the downfall

Hondo: No, it was me, I dragged you into this. If I wasn't doing this it wouldn't end like this

Street: Hey, I mean, atleast we still got our jobs, well we got our asses kicked for a good several months but I think it's calm down.

Hondo: Commander Hicks really put my ass gear, it not even funny

Street: Hey atleast he didn't put you in a coffin, I was pretty sure he was going when we went in after the trial.

Chris: Hey guys, Hondo how are you holding up?

Hondo and Street let out a laugh, it was so good to laugh despite everything that happened. They really needed that considering feeling the world just ripping them apart for trying to save a kid from a terrible fate he might suffer.
