Spring or Revelations: Interlude Origin Poem

(( * ))

Once there was a being who just first opened her eyes.

She was singular and dual, a contradiction.

She was the Twin of Time.

In the vast pause before time birthed space and all the junk of life,

the four unknown stood counsel to their newborn

frightened descendent and presented

her with every soul that ever would be in existence.

"Choose a companion and a confidante for

You will have other duties that you do not yet know.

No being may bear such a knowledge alone."

And so she chose her mirror, a soul adrift alone.

But upon time's contractions and first birth,

when at once all of time's design was formed and revealed,

made apparent was the placement of her confidante's arrival.

Scheduled just halfway through the stretch of time.

To not know one's full duties,

to walk the mortal coil and all its offshoots of

agony and delights without half of one's own purpose,

Was a crowded but lonely life.
