A strange unease settled in his nerves. Entering the church to find no one, only to discover and enter a secret passageway underneath creeped out the demigod.

Levi's voice echoed through the corridor. "Remember the plan. Sasha focuses on the barrels, and Armin, Moblit and Jason on the flares. Everyone else will attack with me and Hange leading. Is that understood?"

They all gave a quiet "Yes sir."

Jason still didn't agree with the plan, but his conversation earlier with the others made him hesitate. He didn't know what to do.

Slowly, a light began to illuminate the corridor. Jason and Jean were carrying the barrels filled with explosives. Each one had two makeshift wheels attached to it. They came as close to the door as possible and waited.

Levi raised his left hand. Everyone got in position. Armin had his flares, Moblit and Hange the boxes for cover, Sasha her arrows, and Mikasa her blades. Levi kicked down the door, left hand still in the air. Jason and Jean waited for the signal. Jason felt sweat come down his brow.

As soon as his hand went down, Jean and Jason chucked the first barrel. Then the second. The wheels helped them bounce to the bottom of the crystal staircase. Sasha knocked an arrow into her bow and fired. The flamed arrowhead hit the barrel and it exploded, filling the crystal cave with smoke.

Levi and Mikasa were the first to fly out. Jason helped Armin with the barricades. Before the interior police could react to the two ODM gear users, two wisps of green smoke covered their tracks. Hange and Moblit reloaded their flares.

Connie and Jean threw two other barrels filled with explosives. Sasha lit her arrow head on fire and shot it towards one of the explosive barrels. More dark smoke filled the air.

"The enemy numbers thirty-five!" Jason heard Levi's voice in the smoke, "They've gathered behind the pillars!" Gunshots were already being fired, and shouts of agonizing pain were heard throughout. Levi's voice continued to echo throughout the cave, "Continue the plan! We'll take them all out right here!"

Jean and Connie flew into the fray as soon as the order was given. Sasha shot another barrel. Hange attached her blades to their grips. Her goggles shone against the illuminated cave. "Get in position!" Jason nodded and pressed the trigger on his left handle to propel himself upward.

Pillars of crystal made up the interior of the cave. The perfect place for ODM users to fly through. Jason however did not follow the Section Commander. He instead took a position on the roof of the cave, piercing his hooks into the crystal, he sat, getting his flare ready upside down.

From his position above Moblit, Armin, and Sasha, Jason saw the smoked battlefield.

Jean, using the smoke to his advantage, slashed a gunner from behind. He then noticed Connie in the line of sight of two interior policemen. Armin fired a flare to hide him, allowing Connie to jump to the roof, attacking his enemy from behind. Jason remembered Armin's advice about the interior's weakness. Their backs were their achilleas heel, and once a Scout got close enough, they would have the advantage.

Jason, seeing that Connie was in the line of sight of a gunner, was about to fire a flare to help. However, an arrow pierced the gunner's heart. Jason looked down at the archer. Her determined expression showed her resolve. A resolve to protect her friends.

Jason's gaze returned to the upside down battlefield. Mikasa was slicing gunners left and right in the distance. Levi didn't even need to use the smoke to take down his opponents. The gunners were falling like flies.

People were dying.

Was Jason ready to kill someone?

Sasha blew up another barrel. "Take down the archer!" A woman's voice yelled in the distance. Two male gunners flew out of the smoke from below. All four gun barrels were aimed for Sasha. Mars spear!

Despite your experience, you have never taken a life. Have you? Levi's words rang in his head. Jason didn't know whether he was ready to kill or not. He didn't know where he was, nor how to get home. But he did know one thing. He wanted to protect the others. Just like how they wanted to protect him.

Jason let his hooks go and he fell. He then attached two blades to his grips and raised both hands. Both blades detached as he threw his hands down, one slicing the gunner's right eye. The second blade hit the other interior policemen in the arm. He cried out in pain but aimed his left muzzle at Armin.

Not happening. Jason fired a hook at the man's shoulder and pressed the trigger for the gas. The man's face was filled with fear, but Jason didn't care. None of his friends would die on his watch. He sliced the man's abdomen as he flew past him. Attaching his hook to a pillar he looked back.

Two pairs of eyes stared at him. Moblit fired another green flare.

Sasha and Armin were safe. Jason followed the green flare and entered the battlefield.

It was time to find the blonde haired woman.

It was time to find Nifa's killer.
