Hi, so here is another chapter and after doing some work in a new planning book I can confirm this story will take us to end of Season 3 and will now be twenty five chapters. I predict maybe two to three more of Season 1.

Disclaimer-Nothing is mine.

Please Read and Review.

Let There Be Light

Chapter 9-Justified And Ancient

As Andy grows increasingly suspicious the sisters must deal with Rex, Hannah, a wendigo and Leo...who is...something...as Phoebe one day discovers.

"I can't believe I didn't see it"

"Prue blaming yourself isn't going to get us out of this mess"

"And giving away our powers will?"

"Paige"

"Look Piper I'm not an idiot I get why we are doing this but…but why are we doing this? I mean I know we don't want Prue in jail and we don't want to be exposed but I also know that if we give up our powers then we are all dead. I mean we are deader than dead meat. This man…demon…whatever the hell he is, is not gonna stop hunting us because we give him our powers. And that just because he thinks he can have them doesn't mean that he can use them and also can I just point out that it doesn't stop the hundreds of thousands of the underworld coming up for us either—"

"Paige you are not telling us anything that we don't know. Does your boy—"

"No he's out of commission for a bit and—"

"And we can't keep using Zankou to help us" Pheobe said quietly. "We have an alliance with him that works we don't want it to completely one sided. I don't want to owe that…man a favour unless we have too—Paige don't look at me like that okay!"

"Just wait Pheobe you'll fall in love too one day and—"

"GIRLS!"

God Prue thought running a hand through her hair. She was even beginning to sound like her grandmother now.

"I don't know how I missed it"

"Look Piper was sleeping with one, I've been sleeping with one. Phoebe's…I don't know but they are demons! Look Prue they've been around a lot longer than any of us have! So your boss is one…I mean…I guess it explains why he hired you?"

"As opposed to what Paige for my legs?"

Pagie rolled her eyes.

"I don't know why we are doing this" she said quietly. "I don't…we can defeat them without giving up our powers"

"Not if he uses his own" Piper said looking around as if she expected Rex to come out of the woodwork. "We all know that we are going to have to do this. Andy is already suspicious….we don't have a choice."

There was a pause and then Paige threw herself down onto the couch and groaned.

This whole this was a mess.

Leo sighed as he stared at the book. He was looking over the page that was dedicated to Zankou even though he knew he should be using his magic to reverse the sisters spell. He would too but that didn't meant that he didn't want to keep up to date with what was going on. The official word from the Elders was to pretend as if Zankou was not a thing and hopefully they would get tired or scared or whatever and vanquish him. Leo knew that he was not the only whitelighter who thought there was more chance of getting a herd of cats to walk in a straight line rather than getting that to happen.

He turned the book and shut it watching decades of history and magic and generations of blood and sweat and tears all come to four sisters.

Including the one that he could not stop thinking about.

He closed his eyes and let the magic flow through him and restored the balance as it should have been.

There was no reason for the sisters to know.

"So you told Andy Agent Fallon was a Wendigo then?" Paige said. Phoebe watched in amusement as she did that slight of hand thing and took Prue's vodka. It was ridiculous that Paige thought that she could get away with that because it didn't work. Phoebe had been the one who had taught her that trick and three guesses who she had learnt it from?

Prue had been cool once you know.

"I did" Prue said leaning back in her chair. Phoebe took a discreet look at the menu and wondered if they should get some fried goats cheese. She was in the mood to be extravagant after all. She could still smell Clay's aftershave on her pillows even after they had been through the wash and he had gone back to New York to start over.

"I don't know if he believed me though"

"I don't know" Paige said reapplying her lip gloss. "It's a good sign that he didn't spray you with holy water right? I think Andy's a lot tougher than he makes out and I think he's a lot sharper than we think he is. Prue have you ever considered—"

"No and stop drinking your underage"

She stood and went to order and Phoebe sighed. "You know" she said taking the olive out of her martini and eating it. "You do that on purpose. Winding her up is my job"

"Oh please" Paige said with an eyeroll. "You and I both wind her up because she's so easy to wind up. It's only ever been Piper that has been the middle child her entire life. And look…I get why Prue is the way she is of course I do but Andy's not stupid. She gave him a day to process and a minute to make a decision. I mean we've had longer than that to decide on what colour eyeshadow to use"

"Yeah and that pale blue thing you were doing doesn't work."

"I know, I think that had more to do with the top I was wearing but I don't think pastel is for me. And I need to do something about my hair I just don't know what"

Phoebe nodded. Like most woman she cropped her hair short as they approached the end of the millennium but she had admit it was getting to the point where she wanted to spice things up. Maybe she could go blonde?

"No word from your boyfriend?"

"No he gets like this."

"Wish he could warn us about stuff coming out of the woodwork like Agent Fallon, would make our lives a lot easier"

Paige took a sip of coke but she didn't say anything. She didn't think that she was could explain it. Not when she didn't understand it.

Being caught out was not the intention Leo knew. But now he had to admit that he was relieved it was out in the open. Now maybe he could convince the sisters that Zankou was not to be trusted. He knew they had something that resembled a truce but he also knew not to trust truces with demons as far as the government had trusted them with Nazi Germany. Perhaps it was an unfair comparison but it was all Leo had.

He wondered as Phoebe managed to calm down long enough to take a big gulp of tea mixed in with vodka if Zankou knew Hitler had gone to hell? Would it be too much to ask if half of the High Command had gone there? God he hoped so…he really, really did.

"So" Pheobe said sitting crossed legged on the chair. "Brushing over that you never told me or anyone else—and I get why don't get me wrong but why now?"

"Your ready to know now" Leo said casually. It was better than the truth which was that he was lazy and could not be arsed getting the ladders out. "And…and there is some concern that the longer you go without influence the more tempting things can be"

Phoebe shot him a look her lips pressing against the glass and then. "You mean Paige?"

"I do"

"Your bosses—"

"They are called Elders" he said quietly. Pheobe inhaled her drink.

"Oh I know" she said her voice uncharacteristically harsh. "We heard about them"

"Oh?"

"Yes. They are the people that made our Mom and Paige's Dad separate. And before you say anything no it was not Zankou that told us, our Dad filled in some of the gaps and we found the rest out on our own"

Leo sighed. He had never thought what the Elders had done with Patty had been a good idea. He had never thought that Sam's ability to protect her was clouded by his ability to love her. Personally he had found the whole thing a mess from start to finish that had caused pain and more than likely had allowed Zankou to see an opening…and if Zankou could see that then why didn't all the other demons see it? Just the thought of Jeremy and Piper together in bed made him feel physically ill, sick to his stomach and if that was the case with a demon he didn't meet then—

But then again he felt that way with Piper and any man now that he thought about it. Which was also not a good thing.

"Phoebe the Elders admit they have made mistakes…"

"They made my mother unhappy" Pheobe said flatly. "And we don't tend to do rules in this family very well Leo. Paige will not give him up, Prue won't give up Andy if push comes to shove, I don't intend to give up the love of my life just because the ELDERS whoever they are don't approve. I don't intend to live that way, sorry but if they want good witches that they can pat on the head then they picked the wrong sisters."

Leo conceded the point.

"They know"

"No they don't"

"They mean well"

Pheobe grinned like a shark and then she put the glass down.

"Alright let's say I believe that your this guardian angel—" she trailed off and then.

"When we were fighting Rex and Hannah was that you?"

"Yes"

"Oh"

"Prove I'm good now?"

"It helps"

"Listen Phoebe I am not gonna defend my bosses. Your Mom and Sam…it was a big thing to them and it was a big thing to us, I don't think they thought that your Mom would disobey the order that they gave…the prophecy was always three sisters and it was earmarked for your Mom from day one…and I…I don't think they considered what they were going to do. Your Grams was one hell of a woman and I wouldn't be surprised if she put a few traps out…right now though they trust you and they need you to trust them…we need to be able to fight demons together"

"Just not Zankou?"

"Phoebe…" it was impossible to tell Pheobe or indeed any of them that it might come to that. The Elders might make it come to that. Nobody had ever challenged the Elders and their Iron Grip of a rule. There had been whispers of course but still…

"When do you intend to tell the rest of them?"

"I wasn't really planning too. Right now I just need to make sure that you can transition into good witches in the right way. I don't know what is going to happen tomorrow…but I am a guiding force here and if you want that then here I am"

It was all a whitelighter could offer and Pheobe nodded.

Was she even more confused than ever then sure? But short of Patty explaining to her daughters just what had happened to make her break all the rules with such glee or for her daughters to experience it herself they weren't going to understand. It was love, pure, reckless love and Paige was the only one close to understanding and like her mother was in love with the wrong man. He didn't know if the rest of them would follow…he didn't dare think about what would happen if the sister collectively, the four most powerful witches in the world, took a stand against the Elders and declared that they were going to uproot the balance over love.

It would have to be a pretty dedicated love to do that.

Unbidden the image of Piper came to mind and Leo shook his head as if he was underwater. The last thing that he needed to do was to think about Piper.

As they had all seen when they had seen what Sam had been reduced too…that was a very dangerous thought to have.

And there you go, two more chapters I think for Season 1 and then we are done.

Next Chapter-The Halliwell sisters deal with the emotions that come with time travelling to a time where their mother is still alive.
