"Well?" Maisie was sitting in Felicity's chair in front of the computers as she stared across the bunker at Oliver. "Ow," she suddenly hissed as alcohol seeped into the cut on her upper arm. She glared at Roy hovering and tending to her wound. He winced and muttered a soft apology before firmly pressing a bandage to the open wound. She ignored the painful pressure and turned a penetrative stare back on Oliver. He was leaning against the railing and pensively staring at the floor. His crossed arms were tense as Felicity stood next to him and tried rubbing his arms to relax him.
"You can't stay here."
Maisie felt more than saw Roy stop what he was doing as he too was surprised at their mentor's words.
"What?" she managed to rasp.
Oliver looked up. He uncrossed his arms and stepped away from his wife to take a couple steps closer to her. "You can't stay here," he repeated. "You aren't safe here anymore."
"What are you talking about?" Maisie was thankful that Roy voiced her question. Her brain was still not comprehending the words from the man she considered as a father figure.
"Those men at city hall were there for you, Maisie," Oliver explained. "You have to get out of Star City and lie low until we find your mom."
Maisie started to stand up, but one of Roy's hands had a firm grip on her wrist and the other kept pressure on her wound and prevented her. "I'm leaving," she stated emphatically while shaking her head. "I can help with finding my mom and I'll be safer here with you guys if you're that concerned."
Felicity shook her head as she moved to stand beside her husband in front of Maisie. "Oliver's right, Maisie. Right now, we're at dead end with your mom's disappearance," the blond winced at her choice of words but continued on. "If the men at city hall were there for you, that means they know who you are and can easily get to you, whether at work or at home. It's not exactly a secret that you spend a lot of time with the Queen family."
Maisie shook Roy off her arm and stood up to confront the couple, not caring that her wound was starting to bleed again. "How do we know that they were there for me? How do you even know that they were one of the gangs for Vertigo?"
Oliver reached into his pocket and pulled a small paper. He looked at it for a split second before handing it to her. "This was on one of the men."
She took it and felt her heart drop to the floor. The paper was a small photo of her and her mom eating at their favorite ice cream shop. She traced a slender finger along the image of her mother eating a rocky road ice cream cone and laughing at something Maisie had said.
"They know who you are." Oliver's words were soft-spoken but carried a punch as heavy as one of the gang members had thrown in her direction earlier.
She gently placed the photo in front of the computers on the metal desk before turning back to her team, her family. "Where am I going to go?" Somehow, she knew what his response would be before he even answered.
"Somewhere no one would expect."
