Chapter 5 Drama at the Dinner table

Over the next few hours, Master Chen showed Harry some basic ninjutsu techniques. They focused on proper stances, basic strikes, and defensive maneuvers. Despite the simplicity of the exercises, Harry could feel the intensity and depth of the martial arts.

Lee, despite his earlier arrogance, began to warm up to Harry. He assisted in demonstrating some techniques and provided pointers, albeit still with a hint of condescension.

As the training session came to an end, Master Chen spoke, "You have a natural talent, Harry. If you're interested, I would be honored to have you join our dojo and train with us again."

Harry, catching his breath, responded with a smile, "Thank you, Master Chen. I'd like that."

Looking slightly less arrogant now, Lee added, "You're a quick learner. It would be good to have someone like you to spar with regularly."

Harry chuckled, "Thanks, Lee. I look forward to it." He was amused by Lee's eagerness for another sparring session.

Harry thanked Master Chen and Lee once more before leaving the dojo. As he stepped out into the evening, the events of the day weighed on his mind. Harry was thinking about whether or not he should add ninjutsu to another one of his skill sets.

The sun began to set, casting a warm, golden hue over the city streets. Harry continued his journey until he spotted a comic book shop called "Heroes' Haven."

Intrigued, Harry decided to step inside, the scent of old paper and ink immediately greeting him. The shop was a treasure trove of comic books, action figures, and various memorabilia from both well-known and obscure franchises.

As he browsed the aisles, Harry's eyes landed on a Batman comic. The cover depicted the Dark Knight in a dramatic pose, overlooking Gotham City from a towering gargoyle perch. The shop's owner, a middle-aged man with glasses and a friendly demeanor noticed Harry's interest and approached him. "Ah, a Batman fan, I see," he said with a smile. "That's a classic issue. Are you a collector?"

Harry hesitated for a moment before answering, "Not exactly, but I have a personal connection to the character." He smirked inwardly, thinking about his own dual life as both Harry Potter and Batman.

The owner raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Really? That's fascinating. Batman has inspired many people in different ways. What draws you to the Caped Crusader?"

Harry pondered the question. "He represents justice, resilience, and the constant struggle between darkness and light. Along with being a man among gods."

The owner nodded thoughtfully. "Well said, young man. Batman's legacy is indeed profound, and it's always great to meet someone who appreciates the deeper themes behind the mask."

Harry spoke, "Agreed! I feel Batman teaches us that anyone can be a hero, regardless of their background or abilities. It's about determination, courage, and the will to do what's right, even in the face of adversity."

The shop owner smiled warmly. "You've got a good understanding of the character. Many people just see Batman as a guy in a costume, but there's so much more to it than that."

Harry nodded. "Exactly. I believe we all have a bit of Batman inside us, the potential to rise above our circumstances and make a difference."

The owner chuckled, "Well, I couldn't have said it better myself. It's always refreshing to meet someone who appreciates the depth of these stories. Hell, Batman taught us we don't need to have any fancy powers to be heroes." He said 'fancy' with a bit of sarcasm in his voice.

Harry nodded his head in agreement as he thought about people with abilities and he wasn't talking about the wizards but individuals called parahumans—humans who have undergone a "trigger event" and developed superpowers.

Harry had seen these events on the news in a place called "Brockton Bay," and it was safe to say that place had more villains than heroes and a group that followed the doctrine of the long-deceased Third Reich.

But moving on, Harry continued to look around the shop and he saw a bin with so many trinkets inside of it. He began to dig in to see what he could find. Harry continued to dig until he felt something prick his middle finger, making him wince.

Harry muttered, "What was that?" He pulled out the item and to his amazement, it was a metallic batarang.

Harry inspected the metallic Batarang closely, noticing its intricate design and sharp edges. It looked and felt authentic, like a genuine piece of Batman's arsenal.

The shop owner, hearing Harry's exclamation, quickly approached. "Ah, the batarang! That's a rare find," he said, taking a closer look at the item. "Careful, it's sharp."

Harry, still examining the batarang, replied, "It's incredible. How did this end up in a bin of trinkets?"

The owner shrugged, "You'd be surprised what people bring in here to sell or trade. Some items have fascinating histories. That batarang might be a replica, but it's a very well-crafted one."

Harry nodded, impressed. "I'll take it," he said, deciding that the batarang would make a great addition to his growing collection of intriguing items.

After making his purchase, Harry left "Heroes' Haven" feeling excited. He had a Batarang replica, and it was safely tucked away in his pocket. Harry walked down the street with a slight smile on his face about his new possession.

Harry looked at the sky and saw the sunset slowly setting, making him go to an alley. He whipped his head around for anyone in sight and said, "Flippy!"

The familiar sound of a soft pop could be heard, and Flippy the elf appeared in his small glory with an eager expression.

Harry looked around the dimly lit alley and then turned to Flippy. "Flippy, can you take me back to Potter Mansion?"

"Of course, Master Harry," Flippy replied with a nod.

With a swift movement and a soft pop, Harry found himself back at Potter Mansion. He thanked Flippy and made his way inside, feeling a mix of exhaustion and excitement from the day's events.

As he entered the mansion, he saw James, James Jr, Elizabeth, Sirius, and Remus interacting with each other until they saw Harry come in, looking at him with a variety of different emotions.

James, Remus, and Sirius had warm smiles.

James Jr had a sneer on his face as he looked at Harry with hatred.

His stepmother Elizabeth had her usual cold demeanor, and her eyes narrowed at him, probably recalling the event from earlier where he called her out for violating his privacy.

James Jr spoke snidely, "Well, look who showed up. The muggle-loving brother of mine." He looked at Harry venomously.

Harry smirked, "Still looking down on muggles, alright Junior? You might want to look up; I can see your double chin." He saw James Jr get red in the face from the taunt from Harry.

"Enough, you two," James interjected firmly, placing a hand on James Jr.'s shoulder

. "Harry, we were about to sit down for dinner. You can tell us about your day."

Harry spoke, "Lead the way, Father." He stretched his arms out until he heard a popping sound.

The group made their way to the dining room, the atmosphere slightly tense due to the earlier exchange between Harry and James Jr. As they settled around the table, James, Remus, and Sirius exchanged knowing glances, sensing the underlying tension.

"Let's hear about your day, Harry," James said, attempting to steer the conversation in a more positive direction.

Harry took a deep breath, deciding to focus on the more enjoyable parts of his day. "Well, I just wandered around town trying to cure my boredom and I found a muggle fighting school, so I thought maybe I would check it out."

Sirius remarked, "Muggle fighting. My cousin Nyph does something like that. Perhaps I could introduce you too."

Remus nodded, "I agree as well, Siri."

James Jr rolled his eyes at Harry and said, "Why are you interested in those lowly muggles? They are inferior to us in many ways! Take pride in your heritage!"

Harry spoke, "Once again, you are badmouthing people you don't know or have any prior knowledge about. Seriously, Junior, think before you speak, or better yet, leave all the thinking to the people with brain cells."

Elizabeth cleared her throat, attempting to shift the focus away from the tension. "Dinner is ready," she announced, signaling for the house elves to bring in the meal.

As they began to eat, the conversation shifted to lighter topics, with James, Remus, and Sirius sharing stories and jokes to lighten the mood. Harry's lip twitched a bit, and he felt James Jr cough loudly, which was annoying.

James Jr spoke, "Well, brother, are you going to do what's best for our family? After all, you owe me."He sent a smug look at Harry that made Harry roll his eyes at him with disgust.

Harry stated, "Once again, what do I owe you? I don't owe you a damn thing!" He looked at his younger brother with annoyance on his face.

James Jr shouted, "You owe me your life! I saved you, ungrateful, from You-Know-Who when I was a baby!" He spoke in a tone of arrogance, anger, and entitlement.

Harry clenched his fists, struggling to keep his temper in check. "You mean Mother saved us! Dumbledore and the Ministry gave you the credit for defeating Voldemort, even though it was Mother's sacrifice that saved us all?"

James Jr. laughed mockingly. "Oh, please. She sacrificed herself because she had no other choice! She is dead, and I am alive! I am the hero!"

Harry spoke frostily, "You know, there was a time I felt guilty thinking that I wished Mother survived and you died on that night, but after hearing your statement, I now know that Mother's sacrifice was for a brother who doesn't even deserve it." He shot James Jr a glare filled with hate.

James Jr's face turned a shade of deep red, his eyes filled with anger and frustration. Elizabeth's cold demeanor seemed to harden even more, while James, Remus, and Sirius exchanged concerned and disappointed glances.

Sirius finally spoke up, his voice firm. "Enough is enough. James Jr., your entitlement and arrogance have no place here. Harry is part of this family, and his worth is not defined by your misguided beliefs."

Remus added, "Family is about love, understanding, and support, not selfishness and arrogance." He looked at James Jr with looks of disappointment in his eyes.

James took a deep breath, trying to maintain a calm demeanor. "We need to find a way to come together as a family and resolve our differences. Harry, I apologize for what James Jr. said."

Harry snapped, "Sorry is not enough, James! You enabled this behavior, and now you're just realizing what a waste of space your golden boy is becoming! All those years of neglecting me for him, only to turn out like this! I need to leave! I've lost my appetite." Harry excused himself, feeling emotionally drained from the confrontations and the long day.

Harry muttered, "I swear, if I could go back in time, I would have saved Mother and let Voldemort kill Junior! Consequences be damned!" He couldn't stand Junior's ego and his callous way of disregarding Mother's sacrifice.

Harry was tempted to run back downstairs and punch Junior until he resembled a corpse, but he felt his sensei's teachings come back about redirecting that negative energy into something positive. Taking a few deep breaths to calm himself, Harry decided to go to his room to cool off and gather his thoughts.

In his room, Harry took a seat on his bed, and he began to count to slowly cool down his rising temper.

Harry muttered, "I just need to endure this until I can go back home with Aunt Petunia in New Jersey." Taking a deep breath, he gathered his thoughts and focused on the present as he was dealing with an arrogant little brother, a stepmom who is unreadable, and a dad who just started realizing his screw-ups.

Note: Here is the new chapter and hey folks sorry for the wait. I have been busy with school, martial arts practices, and my side business but I am back. Here we see Harry finding another haven in the form of a comic bookshop. Harry references a novel that a favorite of a friend of mine called " Worms" and to give you all a heads up this universe will have some other references of my other DC projects. Like one reviewer mentioned and noticed I am taking my time with Harry becoming The Dark Knight as it would kill the story immediately if he just put on the suit as even Bruce Wayne didn't immediately become Batman right away as he went through a whole training arc. In this chapter, I want to showcase how fractured is the Potter Family.
