/here's how things are going to go. If I can't think up anything interesting before an important plot point, I'll probably just make a short chapter.\
Chapter 10: Enigmatic Find
It was the first official day of the Friendship Cup.
Oz and Yuto have woken up and were eating the breakfast provided to them.
As they were talking, Oz got a strange feeling.
'What the?'
"You okay?" Yuto asked.
"Yeah, it's just that I got a strange feeling. Like something is going to happen." Oz answered.
Oz the felt out psychically and felt the locations of some hidden cameras.
'I'll need to disable them to continue this further.'
"Hang on, I need to grab something." Oz said as he bent down to the bedside.
"I'm pretty sure that I saw a card fall under the bed." Oz lied.
Oz then reached under the bed and opened the Catalog. He then grabbed Electromagnetic Shield.
Oz then used his psychic powers to activate the card for real, sending out an EMP wave that kicked out all electronics in the room temporarily. Oz estimated that he'd have about an hour before everything goes back on.
Oz then dismissed the card.
"Before we do anything, help me take down all the cameras in this room." Oz said.
"Cameras?" Yuto asked.
"Yes. We were being monitored by that Roget guy."
The two then took around 10 minutes taking out every hidden camera in the room. Now the room was devoid of cameras.
"Now that the cameras are gone, I have some explaining to do." Oz stated.
"Explaining? About what?" Yuto asked.
Oz then held up one of his several copies of MokoMoko. The card glowed for a moment before the monster became real.
"What the!?" Yuto exclaimed.
Oz then sat down while holding MokoMoko. "I am what's called a Psychic Duelist. Someone who can make cards real, without the aid of Real Solid Vision."
"Psychic Duelist? Didn't that Yuri creep call you psychic?"
"He did. It's clear that the madman those people call a Professor knows what I am, otherwise I wouldn't be a target."
"I see. So this ability of yours?"
"Monst Psychic Duelists need a catalyst like a Duel Disk in order to make their cards real. As you can see, I don't. My psychic abilities are much stronger than most Psychic Duelists, although I'm able to control it due to the training I went through with the help of Dark Magician and a few other monsters."
"Wait... your monsters helped train you?" Yuto asked.
"Long story short, Duel Monsters connects to a place called the Spirit Realm, a place were the beings you see on the cards exist, and are real. For example; Dark Rebellion is a real creature that you can temporarily call into this world through its card. The cards act as portals for them."
"Wow... so the cards are real. No wonder I sometimes get the feeling that my cards are trying to speak to me." Yuto commented.
'Of course, it makes sense as he is a part of Z-arc.'
"Now that your caught up, I can explain that feeling. Basically I felt some sort of psychic pulse. I'm not sure what it was, but I can tell it is dangerous. I'm going to go investigate, but I'm going to sneak out."
"Why are you going to sneak out? We can move around as we please."
"That Roget guy has eyes and ears everywhere. I can tell he's planning something, and not something good. Call it instinct, but I feel like whatever we do, Roget shouldn't know what we are up to."
"... Alright. Do you want me to go with you?"
"Actually, no. I need someone to stay here so Roget and his pawns don't mess with our room and place cameras in here again. Plus, he'd probably try to take some of our valuables as well." Oz explained.
"Alright then." Yuto said as he nodded.
"Can I see your deck for a moment?" Oz asked.
"Sure?" Yuto said as he handed the deck over.
Oz than noticed his other Rank-Up-Magic, the one that was used once in the whole anime: The Phantom Knights' Rank-Up-Magic Burial. A card that is a mix between Monster Reborn and Astral Force.
'Wish this was in my world. Would be a good was to strengthen the archetype.'
"... Alright. Stay safe." Oz said as he gave Yuto the deck back.
Oz then pulled out another card. First he dismissed MokoMoko and stood up.
"See you later. Now, spell card: Illusion Magic!"
Oz then disappeared from sight.
Osrelios was sneaking through the building, still invisible.
Each time Oz saw a member of Security, he'd knock them out with a swift chop to the neck.
Doing a neck chop wouldn't normally knock someone out in one hit, but due to the logic of this world, and many other anime worlds, it's an instant K.O.
When Oz knocked out another Security member, he took the helmet off.
Oz searched around for the chip that was there and found it.
"Mekanikle. Do you think that you, or any of the other Meklords, could reverse engineer this chip and allow us to gain access to Roget's systems?"
"It would probably be a good idea to use a duel disk that isn't yours if we did." Mekanikle responded.
"Right. It could backfire and give us away. In that case, I'm sure this officer won't need his duel disk."
Oz than took the duel disk of the Security officer that was unconscious.
Oz then connected the duel disk to the control chip. He then inserted his Meklord deck into the deck slot.
It took all of 30 seconds for the Meklords to hack the system and create a backdoor program.
"Done." Mekanikle reported.
"Already?"
"Yes. We are much more advanced and sophisticated machines than that program. Hacking it was nothing but what you humans would call: child's play." Mekanikle boasted.
The backdoor program was then ejected as physical hardware in the shape of a card.
Oz pocketed the program. 'Best give this to Declan first chance I get.'
Oz then set the duel disk back down and took off silently.
Oz then reflected on the previous day's event.
"Hey Stardust, I have a question."
"What is it, young master?"
"When I performed an Accel Synchro yesterday, I heard the Crimson Dragon's roar when I summoned your evolved form, and the Mark of the Dragon Head appeared on my arm briefly when I summoned Stardust Warrior. Why was that?"
"To put it simply: you didn't have enough power to perform an Accel Synchro on your own. I prepared a head of time and asked the Crimson Dragon to lend you some power each time you would use the power of one of us Signer Dragons."
"... I see. Then thank you Stardust."
"Your welcome." Stardust answered.
Oz then felt another pulse.
"It's stronger than before. Any idea what it is anyone?"
His Duel Spirits were silent.
"I felt Pendulum Energy." Dark Magician answered.
"Pendulum? Here?"
"Yes. Although I can't get a reading on the monster type."
"I can, sort of." Answered Azure-Eyes. "It's a mix between dragon and something else, something unknown."
'Dragon and unknown... could it... no, that's impossible.'
"We got to check it out." Oz stated.
Oz has been running around the city, when he noticed a barred off area.
This was on the far outskirts of the city, nearly right outside it.
It looked to lead under the ocean.
The pulse was felt again. Even stronger than the last.
"Down here."
Oz then walked to the bars keeping the place sealed.
Oz activated Dragon Nails on himself, equipping it to him.
Oz then slashed through the bars.
Dismissing Dragon Nails, Oz walked into the area and noticed a hole. Oz jumped.
Oz looked down and saw that the hole kept going, and going.
'Is this an endless pit or something?'
The tunnel then opened up to show a massive cave. The cave as as big, or even bigger than the entire city.
The pulse was even stronger.
Oz then summoned Sephylon since the cavern was big enough for his full size.
Sephylon caught him and lowered him gently to the ground.
Sephylon dismissed himself and Oz began to walk towards the direction of the Pulse.
Oz walked for half an hour before finally reaching the epicenter of the pulse.
There was a single card.
Oz saw that it was a Pendulum card.
Oz bent down to grab it, when the spirit inside it emerged.
It was as Oz suspected.
"Genesis Omega Dragon..."
Genesis Omega Dragon then charged up an attack.
Oz quickly dodged.
The being then continued to fire off attack after attack.
Oz had to keep moving.
Once G.O.D stopped, Oz immediately brought up his Duel Disk. Out of all the cards he has, only a few of them still needed the Duel Disk as a catalyst for his psychic powers.
Oz placed four cards on his Duel Disk.
"Arise, my Divine Beings!"
Ra and the 3 Sacred Beasts arose from portals.
The four of them roared at G.O.D.
G.O.D roared back.
Ra then formed a protective barrier around Osrelios.
The 5 beings then clashed. Smoke and dust quickly filled the air, making it so Oz couldn't see what was going on.
Not even 5 minutes have passed and the barrier dissipated.
The smoke cleared and Oz saw G.O.D on the ground injured.
'As powerful as it is, it's still nothing compared to an Egyptian God and the 3 Sacred Beasts.'
Oz walked to the downed being.
"You are not supposed to be here. You are too dangerous to be left alone. Stardust, could you call the Crimson Dragon here? I think it would be a good idea for it and Ra to seal away its time and space manipulation abilities. Those abilities could be useful, but even an ounce of it could lead to catastrophic damage to the world. Now, Genesis Omega Dragon. Let's make a deal."
Stardust then appeared and roared out. The Crimson Dragon appeared shortly after.
"Alright here's the deal. You agree to assist us in our endeavors, we seal your time and space abilities away, so your just a regular Spirit, and we let you live. How's that sound?"
The being stayed silent for a moment. "... Deal. Even if I'll lose my abilities to do whatever I want, I'd rather live."
"Good choice. Ra, Crimson Dragon. If the two of you may?"
The two Dragon Deities roared and energy quickly began to fly out from G.O.D.
The energy flows into all 5 of the divine beings there, most of it flying into the Crimson Dragon.
All 5 received a boost in power, but the Crimson Dragon was the only one to gain a boost in its abilities. It's power of time/space manipulation was boosted. However since the power was split into 4, it didn't gain complete control over time and space like G.O.D nearly had.
Genesis then faded back to the Spirit Realm with the gods following suit. Only Stardust and Oz remained.
Oz walked over an inspected Genesis Omega Dragon's card.
Genesis Omega Dragon: Type: ?????/Pendulum/Effect, Attribute: ?????, Level: 10, Atk: 0 Def: 0, Scale: 13
Pendulum effect: Pendulum cards you control can not be destroyed by card effects. You can destroy monsters on either player's field up to the number of cards in your pendulum zones. You can only use this effect of "Genesis Omega Dragon" once per turn.
Effect: Gains 1000 ATK at the start of either player's turn. When this card is targeted for an attack or by a card effect (Quick Effect): you can place 1 Pendulum Monster in your Pendulum Zone from your hand, Deck, or Extra Deck; negate that attack or effect and skip to the End Phase of the turn. Once per turn, you can destroy monsters, up to the number of cards in your Pendulum Zones.
Oz looked over the effect. 'Not bad at all. Not that over powered, but not bad. Although it is interesting that it is both Typeless and Attributeless. Although I don't remember it actually having a pendulum effect.'
"Welcome to the team, Genesis. I know exactly which deck you'll fit into."
Oz then placed G.O.D into his Timelord Deck.
"... This deck has some of the same monsters that the woman Eve had." Genesis commented.
Oz then looked at the time, he should be heading back now.
Oz then hopped onto Stardust and the two took off
/ahem... I may be giving Osrelios G.O.D, but I'm not allowing the control of time and space. That's way too busted, and that would make the story not interesting.\
Oz snuck back into the building, making sure that Roget has no idea what he's doing at all. Finding Genesis Omega Dragon was something extremely unexpected.
Oz snuck right Into his room and saw Yuto watching the TV.
It was late, and also the last match of the first day: Shun vs Dennis.
Yuto heard the door open and saw Oz.
"How'd it go?" Yuto asked.
"I'll tell you in a bit, let's watch Shun's duel." Oz said.
Yuto just nodded and looked back at the screen.
The duel went exactly how it did in cannon. The only difference is that when Shun was supposed to mention Yuto's hatred, he instead mentioned along the following: "In order to protect the family that my best friend Yuto has gained, taste the pain that he endured up to this point!"
'It appears that he said that instead because of the change of fate that I did.'
With Yuya, his reaction was along the lines of: "To protect Yuto's family..."
In all honesty, Oz was really hooked on the duel. This was one of the coolest duels that he's seen from the show, Satellite Cannon Falcon has such a cool design and the way to kept firing at Chaos Ancient Gear Giant to weaken it was captivating. The actual attack was the, as the expression goes, icing on the cake.
"To think that guy is an Academia Spy..." Yuto stated.
"Looks like we were right to be suspicious." Oz commented.
Dennis was force returned to the Fusion Dimension. Shun was escorted back to his room.
Yuto then turned to Oz. "So did you find out what that feeling was?"
Oz nodded. "I'm only telling you this because I trust you since you are my brother. I found a very powerful Duel Spirit."
Oz then took out G.O.D's card.
"Genesis Omega Dragon... why does it seem familiar?"
"From what it told me, it came from an alternate timeline. Upon encounter, it attacked me. I was able to summon some spirits to defeat it, and has some of them strip away some of its power, so that way it's easier to control." Oz partially lied.
"Alternate timeline? Wow." Yuto comments.
"It's a good thing that I got my hands on it before anyone else. As you can tell, it allows someone to take control over a duel real fast."
"Only if you use Pendulum cards though." Yuto stated.
"That's true." Oz said.
The two of them then got a message on their duel disks. It was from Declan. They were invited to have dinner along side him, Reira, and Jack.
The two looked at each other before nodding. They then got ready to go, waiting for someone to escort them. They grabbed their decks and duel disks just in case.
The two were eventually escorted to the location of the dinner.
Once they got there, they saw that Declan, Reira, and Jack were all already there.
"Ah, if it isn't the two boys Yusei adopted. Don't be shy, join us." Jack said as the two of them approached.
The two boys sit near Declan and Jack.
Once they sit down, Jack turned to Oz. "It's a shame that you are not participating in the Friendship Cup. Out of all the duelists I've seen so far, you, and two others, arethe only ones I can respect."
"Really?" Oz asked.
"Yes. Of all the winning Duelists, the only two have caught my eye, and that is the XYZ Duelist and the girl who uses the Lunalights as she calls them."
"Shun and Serena?" Yuto asked.
"Indeed. Out of all of them, those two are the only ones I can sense grit in. All the others have either not been through enough, or hold onto ridiculous notions of sunshine and rainbows."
'I think he's talking about Yuya and Yuzu there.'
"What's grit?" Reira asked.
"Grit is what people call the ability to never back down no matter what, and to turn the situation around no matter how dire." Oz explained to the young one.
"That is correct." Jack stated.
Declan then went on to ask Jack about his past, which he gave the same explanation as he did in cannon. Oz had a feeling that Jack left out mentioning Yusei and Crow just to make himself look less soft.
Once the dinner was over, the two brothers went back to their room.
On the way, Oz saw a small and brief shine come from his Timelord deck.
"Alright. Who did that?"
"I did. I may have lost my time and space manipulation, but I can still do other things."
That was Genesis Omega Dragon that spoke.
Oz and Yuto then got into their room, and Oz used his psychic powers to scan the room. There were no hidden cameras. Good.
Oz then pulled out his Timelord deck and saw it changed. There was now a bunch of pendulum cards in there. G.O.D most likely made them all to compensate for its inclusion.
Looking at the scales for a few of them, he noticed that they would allow for the pendulum summon of level 10 monsters. Something that Oz had wanted to do in his world, but couldn't due to the lack of generic cards with high enough scales.
Some of the pendulum cards were Timelord support. Others were generic pendulum supports.
"It might just be worth it to keep you around after all."
Oz got ready to go to sleep, knowing that he'd have to rest out his new cards soon enough.
