Chp. 5: American Mission
After a few hours, the Ace Operatives and General Ironwood were gathered into the command center as they were preparing to watch the Americans enact their mission.
"Time to see what these Americans got," Clover said.
"They probably won't last. They don't have aura, they don't have any Dust, and they don't have any drones of their own," Harriet said.
"You probably shouldn't underestimate them, Harriet. Their world has experienced more wars and battles than Remnant according to them," Elm said.
"Yeah. According to them," Harriet said with an eyeroll.
"They don't have any drones of their own? How will they overwhelm the White Fang without them? How will we be able to watch them?" Marrow asked.
"They said that they'll have body cams on them so we'll see everything that they'll see," Ironwood answered.
"And we'll have to wait and see how these Americans will manage," Vine added.
Northern Solitas
Meanwhile somewhere in the northern part Solitas, Keaton, Alex, and Cassandra were sitting out near a cliffside looking out at the mountains around them. The three marines are all wearing white camo winter uniforms, matching gloves, bullet proof vests, and ski masks. Keaton wore a white camo helmet to match his helmet. Alex and Cassandra both wore beanies to go with their masks, and Alex was wearing a pair of winter goggles.
"Holy shit! It's cold out here!" Cassandra said as she shivered.
"Tell me about it. The Ace Operatives are hell of lucky to have an aura that protects them from the harsh climate," Alex said.
"Too bad we unable to get any air support until they set up shop at a secure location," Cassandra said.
"We'll just have to make due with what we got for now," Keaton said.
"Hunter 2-5, this is FoxTrot. We're in positions. Over," Bulldog spoke through the radio.
"Copy that, Fox Trot. We'll move into position," Cassandra replied into her radio.
"Break's over. Enough sitting around," Keaton said.
The marines all stood up and turned away from the cliff before making their war towards a large steep hill.
"The camp is just around this hill," Keaton said.
"Two tangos up ahead," Cassandra whispered.
Keaton and Alex looked up ahead to see two White Fang soldiers patrolling up ahead. They were both facing away from the marines.
"I'll take the one on the right. You take the left," Keaton spoke to Alex as he put away his rifle and pulled out a knife.
"Copy that," Alex said as he put away his rifle and pulled out a knife too.
Keaton and Alex quickly and quietly approached the two unsuspecting guards until they were right behind them. They looked at each other for a moment and Keaton gave a quick nod. The two marines grabbed onto the White Fang guarded and covered their mouths, preventing them from shouting. Keaton stabs his guard in the throat, while Alex slit the other guard's throat. Keaton and Alex dropped the bodies as they quickly bled to death. Cassandra approaches her two fellow marines.
"Two down. Now let's go," Keaton said.
Keaton, Alex, and Cassandra continued their way around the hill. They soon went around and spotted the camp. The camp looked much similar to the one the Ace Operatives had attacked earlier. However the camp has more guards patrolling the camp and there was only one ware house and a a few trucks.
"This camp seems more guarded," Cassandra said.
"Probably because the Ace-Ops' attack on the other camp has put this one on alert. Rogers, find a good spot to provide overwatch. Barker and I will sneak into the camp and place the explosives. Make sure your suppressors are on," Keaton ordered.
Cassandra splits off from Keaton and Alex and starts climbing up the hilltop to find a good sniping position. Just as Alex and Keaton were about to continue into the White Fang camp, the wind started to pick up more, snow soon started to fall the sky, and heavy fog soon started to envelope the area.
"Woah. Where did this snow storm come from?" Cassandra asked through the radio.
"Doesn't matter. We could actually use this storm for cover," Keaton said.
"The hostiles won't be able to see us in this pea soup snow storm if we're far enough away from them," Alex said.
"I'll turn on the thermal for my scope," Cassandra said.
"Keep your eyes open. Stay sharp," Keaton said.
Keaton and Alex then entered inside the camp, using the snowstorm to keep themselves hidden.
City of Atlas
Atlas Command Center
Back at the command center, the Ace-Ops and General Ironwood continued to watch the marines in action.
"They have few numbers. I still say they should bring more men with them," Harriet said.
"Perhaps they have a plan to work around that. After all, numbers don't win you battles," Vine said.
"Let's just wait and see what they do," Ironwood said.
White Fang Camp
Back at the camp, Keaton and Alex were sneaking past a few tents and avoiding guards along the way. They hid behind a couple of shipping crates. Keaton pulls out a C4 explosive and places it on one of the crates.
"That's one down. Let's keep going," Keaton said.
"Roger that," Alex replied.
They both ran up to a tent and hid behind it. A White Fang soldier then suddenly exits out of the tent. Just as he was about to look around the corner to find the two Marines, a bullet struck the guard in the chest, killing him.
"You're welcome," Cassandra said through the radio.
"Stationary truck up ahead," Alex said as he saw a truck across the road from them.
"Place a C4 on it," Keaton ordered.
Alex looked from side to side and saw no guards around. He sprints towards the truck and crawls underneath it. He places another C4 explosive onto the truck's axle. He crawled out from under the truck and ran back to behind the tent where Keaton was hiding.
"Let's do one more," Keaton said. "That warehouse will do."
They snuck past the tents and hid behind one closest to the warehouse. They peered from behind it to see one of the warehouses close by with a guard standing next to it.
"I've got this," Cassandra said through the radio.
A bullet struck the White Fang guard's head, killing him instantly. Keaton and Alex ran for the door and stood next to the door with their backs against the wall. Keaton cracks the door open and peered his head inside to look around for a moment.
"Coast seems clear. Let's get inside," Keaton said.
He and Alex then entered inside the warehouse as Alex dragged the dead body inside and then closed the door behind them. They turned around to see an Atlesian Paladin with a White Fang emblem painted on its side.
"I'll set up a charge," Alex said as he approached the paladin.
He pulls out a C4 explosive and sticks it onto the mech's leg and sets up a remote charge. As Alex sets up the explosive, Keaton looks around the warehouse to find anything else. He pulled out his radio and spoke into it.
"Fox Trot, this is Hunter 2-5. We've set up explosives inside of the warehouses, onto a truck full of Dust, and some supplies. Over."
"Copy that, Hunter 2-5. We'll be waiting for your signal," Bulldog replied through the radio.
Keaton turned his attention to Alex who was approaching him.
"Let's get to a safe place to detonate the explosives," Keaton said.
The two marines exit out of the warehouse and sprinted towards a nearby shack and hid behind it. They looked around and noticed the fog around them was clearing away and the storm had just stopped.
"Looks like the storm has stopped," Alex said.
"Doesn't matter now. We got the explosives set up. So enough quiet. Let's make some noise," Keaton said.
Alex pulls out a detonator and presses the trigger. The warehouse, truck, and supplies then explode, killing some of the White Fang soldiers nearby, and catching the other White Fang soldiers in the camp off guard.
Meanwhile outside of the camp, Bulldog, Ice Pick, Missionary, and Steel were hiding behind a snow bank looking out at the camp. They saw the explosions in the camp and smoke rising from it. The four soldiers were all wearing similar uniforms as the marines, but they all had some addtions to what they were wearing. Bulldog was wearing a light gray, beanie on his head, Ice Pick and Steel had hoods over their heads with their jackets, and Missionary had a on a black ski mask.
"That's our signal. Let's go," Bulldog said.
The four soldiers ran out from the snow bank and towards the camp
Back in the camp, Keaton and Alex were opening fire on the White Fang soldiers from behind some crates, while Cassandra was sniping from the hilltop, giving her fellow marines some cover.
"Seven hostiles! On your left!" Alex shouted to his captain.
Keaton turned to his left and fired off his rifle at three of the seven White Fang soldiers and killed them. Suddenly several bullets rang out and struck down the other four White Fang goons. Keaton turned his head to see where those shots came from. He sees Bulldog, Missionary, Ice Pick, and Steel running up to them. They duck down behind the crates with Keaton and Alex.
"Glad you can join the party!" Keaton said.
"And this party is about to get lit!" Missionary said as he pulled out a grenade launcher.
The group peered out from behind the crates and started to open fire on the White Fang soldiers. Missionary fires a couple shots at several White Fang soldiers, launching them away. A White Fang grunt charges over towards Steel and just as he reaches him to attack, Steel grabs the Faunus terrorist and flips him over onto the ground. He then fires a shot into the terrorist's head, killing him instantly. As Ice Pick continued shooting at the White Fang soldiers, he glanced to his right and noticed eight more running towards him.
"Eight tangos! Right flank!" he yelled to his teammates.
Ice Pick pulls out a flash grenade and pulls the pin before throwing it at the eight oncoming targets. The flash grenade goes off, blinding and deafening the eight Faunus extremists.
"The fuck was that?!" a faunus yelled as he was rubbing his eyes from the unexpected flash.
"My ears are ringing!" a faunus with dog ears screamed.
Ice Pick and Bulldog then shoot at all eight of the White Fang soldiers and kill them.
Up on the hilltop, Cassandra was laying on her stomach as she kept on shooting at White Fang soldiers, while protecting her teammates. Suddenly, a bullet struck the ground in front of her, making her flinch back. She turns to the side to see three more White Fang soldiers, one carrying a pistol and the other two carrying swords, running towards her.
"Kill the human!" one of the White Fang grunts yelled.
The White Fang grunt fired a couple rounds at Cassandra as she rolled herself away from the shots before aiming her sniper rifle at him.
"I'm sorry, but I don't give a fuck!" she yelled with a smirk on her face.
She fires a round into the terrorist's chest, before firing a couple more at the other two Faunus extremists. Cassandra gets up from the ground and starts to run down into the camp to her team.
Keaton, Alex, Bulldog, Ice Pick, Missionary, and Steel continued their shoot out with a group of White Fang soldiers.
"Steel! Missionary! Toss some smoke!" Bulldog ordered.
The two soldiers pulled out a couple of smoke grenades and tossed them into the middle of the group of Faunus terrorists. The smoke grenades explode into a puff of smoke, engulfing the group of White Fang grunts. The two marines and four American soldiers rush into the smoke.
One of the White Fang soldiers was looking around trying to see through the smoke. Suddenly he hears the sounds of screaming and struggling. Panicked, he started firing off his rifle in random directions, hoping to kill a human. Keaton suddenly snuck up behind him and struck the White Fang soldier in the back of the head with the blunt end of his rifle, knocking him unconscious. The smoke clears up to reveal Alex, and the four Army men standing over unconscious White Fang soldiers. Cassandra finally ran up and caught up with the others.
"It looks like we got 'em all," she said.
"What now?" Steel asked.
"Tie these guys up first," Keaton said, gesturing his hand at the unconscious White Fang soldiers. "Then spread out and search for stranglers. Get them medical attention and have them taken into custody."
"Copy that, Captain," Bulldog replied.
City of Atlas
Atlas Command Center
Meanwhile back at the command center, General Ironwood and the Ace Operatives had just watched the conclusion of the Americans' mission to destroy the other White Fang camp.
"That was definitely something," Ironwood said.
"They've accomplished their mission with few numbers and suffered no casualties," Marrow said.
"Anything to say, Bree?" Clover asked.
"I still think they should have brought more men with them," Harriet answered.
"I'm curious about their weaponry," Elm said.
"Will get to take a look at them tomorrow, just as they look at ours," Ironwood said.
