"You have a Kirlia? They're so awesome!" Cherry exclaimed, making Miles sweat drop at the girl's excitement. PT didn't seem to mind her passionate nature, smiling as she nodded.
"Yeah, I caught her as a Ralts a few months ago when traveling through Hoenn."
"Can I see her?" Cherry asked desperately, now leaning over the table and making PT lean backwards in surprise.
"Cherry, pretty sure Pokemon aren't allowed inside Crest. She already has her Sneasel out anyways." Miles stated simply, finally finishing the rest of his sandwich.
"I mean… I'd be happy to show you her outside if you'd like?" The taller girl offered, with Cherry quickly accepting. As the trio were about to get up and leave Crest, a fairly loud rumble sounded. Groups of students rushed to the windows and transparent glass walls, looking to see what the commotion was.
"Holy shit, what is that Pokemon?!"
"That's an Aerodactyl!"
"Are you an idiot? That's clearly a Salamence!"
Students continued to argue over the unknown Pokemon, with Cherry and PT nervously standing up from their chairs to catch a possible glance. Unfortunately, this task proved to be impossible unless there was a way to get to the front of the crowd.
"A Salamence? I wonder how a Salamence is here. I highly doubt it is any student's Pokemon." PT stated quietly, slightly unnerved by the large crowd gathering by the glass wall.
Miles simply laughed, crossing his arms as he kicked his feet back onto the table once again.
"Salamence, hah! No student here has a Salamence, and even more unlikely is a wild one showing up to the Academy somehow. These idiots are probably confusing it for a Staraptor." Miles stated seriously, closing his eyes now in an attempt to drown out the noise. The boy opened them again, however, as the argument soon turned into screaming. The pileup of students quickly dispersed backwards, with everyone sprinting the opposite direction. Hell, the majority of students even fled the building on the opposite entrance from which they were previously standing.
"Must be one scary Staraptor." Miles joked, eliciting no laughs as Cherry began walking over to see what was creating such havoc.
Before Cherry could walk more than a couple steps, her heart jumped out of her chest as someone screamed right beside her.
"WATCH OUT!" Cherry was tackled, barely catching a glimpse of auburn colored hair as the two fell onto the floor. Less than a second later, the glass panel and several wooden structures collapsed due to what was now clearly a Salamence, crashing through Crest building.
Miles immediately stood up and grabbed a Pokeball in his hand, fully prepared to send it out. Cherry groaned as she rubbed the back of her head, still laying on the floor. The boy who tackled her hovered over her form, assessing if she was bleeding or hurt anywhere. PT rushed over to the two as well, no doubt worried about Cherry.
"Hunter, Cherry! Are you two alright?" Miles shouted to them, with the group barely able to hear them over the screams from the other students, as well as Salamence continuing to roar and thrash around the building.
"We're good Miles!" Hunter replied, helping Cherry up to her feet. Before Miles could say anything else, Salamence slowly approached him, his nostrils flaring as smoke flew out in intervals. The dragon type Pokemon stood between both Miles and the other trio, though his attention seemed to be on the black haired teenager.
"Uh, down boy?" Miles whispered more to himself than Salamence, before pressing his Pokeball's button as a blue and white light emerged. A roar from another Pokemon shook the floor and deafened the ears of many. A Charizard now stood in front of Miles, seemingly much larger than average. Salamence seemed even more aggravated, though stopped in its tracks as the two Pokemon stared each other down.
Miles waited to say a command, assessing the situation. It was obvious that the Salamence was not itself, judging by its erratic behavior, as well as the noticeable metal collar around his neck. Before the boy could think any longer, Salamence fired a Dragon Pulse directed towards Charizard.
"Flamethrower to counter, into Air Slash." Miles commanded calmly, with the Dragon Pulse being blocked right in the middle of its trajectory. The attacks looked even, eventually canceling each other out after a few seconds. Before Salamence could react, Charizard flew at an incredible speed and struck the Pokemon as it flew past it.
Salamence crashed through a wall, momentarily disappearing as rubble and smoked covered his body. Seeing that they had some time, Miles quickly rushed over to the group.
"Good save Hunter, knew you had it in ya kid." Miles joked, slapping the short boy on the shoulder. Hunter grinned at the compliment, while Cherry and PT seemed to be in good shape considered what occurred in the past few minutes.
"Do you guys have any Pokemon? I left mine in my room!" Cherry cried, not believing that the one time she didn;t carry any Pokemon, something like this was to happen. Hunter replied that he only had his Vibrava, while PT had Kirlia and Sneasel with her.
The two trainers sent out their Pokemon, readying themselves to battle against the powerful Psuedo-Legendary. A moment later, Salamence soared to them at a speed which seemed impossible. Its red eyes pierced through them, mouth open revealing its razor sharp teeth. Only Charizard had time to react as it stepped in front of the group and barely intercepted the Dragon type.
The collision between the two sounded across the whole building, with a nasty thud sound coming from the bodies colliding. Even though Charizard had intercepted Salamence, the speed and power from which Salamence flew knocked Charizard back.
Unintentionally, Charizard's tail struck Miles, sending him flying backwards until his trajectory stopped as his body crashed against the wooden wall of a store.
"Miles!" Cherry yelled in concern, rushing towards the black haired teen. Hunter almost ran towards his friend as well, before realizing that it would be smarter to combat Salamence. It seemed the short blonde girl was capable of defending Miles, as the boy still laid on the floor motionless.
"Kirlia, go and defend those two!" PT told the Psychic type, not wanting Cherry and Miles to be defenseless, especially since Cherry didn't have any Pokemon on her. Kirlia ran over to the two, standing a few feet in front of them.
Charizard and Salamence both were still in a stalemate, pushing against each other. Salamence was slowly but surely inching forward, however, clearly gaining the upper hand as Charizard roared in anger. Charizard was sent reeling as Salamence used Dragon Tail, effectively launching Charizard to the floor.
"Miles, wake up!" Cherry shook the unconscious boy, his eyes closed and body unmoving. All things considered, Miles looked unharmed besides a nasty looking cut on his left cheek. The only major concern was being unconscious from his head hitting the wall or floor. Which, in all honesty, was a pretty damn big concern.
"Vibrava, use Dragon Tail!" Hunter panicked, seeing as Salamence was about to hit the downed Charizard with another move. Vibrava was only a few feet away from striking Salamence before being sent flying back to Hunter due to Salamence's Zen Headbutt.
"Hit him with Metal Claw!" PT sensed an opening, as Salamence had been preoccupied with Vibrava. Proven correctly, Salamence cried in anguish as its head flew to the side from the blow. Sneasel landed next to Salamence, smirking confidently. Luckily for the group, Charizard stood back up as well, seemingly ready to join the fight once again.
Only issue was, Salamence showed no signs of slowing down. PT's eyebrows rose in confusion as the metal collar Salamence wore shined blue for half a second. It was so quick that she even doubted it glowed in the first place. Not having time to ponder the fact, she spoke once again.
"Blind him with Icy Wind." Sneasel sent forth a chilling wind that even the two trainers felt in the background. Salamence raised his wings, the attack blinding him more than harming him. Despite there being several scratches and having been sent across the room from Charizard, the Psuedo-Legendary showed no signs of fatigue.
"Vibrava, nail him with Dragon Rush!"
Salamence, unable to see accurately due to being compromised by the Icy wind, cried as it stepped backwards from the Dragon type move. Not having any time to recover, it was hit by Charizard's Dragon Pulse and slid backwards.
"How the hell is he still standing!" Hunter shouted, disbelieving that a Pokemon could be so strong. Of course he was well aware that they were dealing with a Pseudo- Legendary. Yet, it didn't change the fact that Salamence had been hit with several super effective attacks, not to mention being hit by Miles's Charizard.
Hunter had watched quite a few of the trainer's battles last year in the Sinnoh League Tournament. His starter Charizard was considered his Ace Pokemon, with his opponents struggling to deal with the Kanto starter. In the quarterfinals, Charizard had finished half of his opponents team without breaking a sweat. It was only in the finals that Charizard had finally been beaten. Even then, Hunter couldn't believe that the starter Pokemon had lost.
"Sneasel, get out of the way!" PT watched hopelessly as Salamence had fired a Flamethrower towards her Pokemon. Sneasel didn't have any time to dodge, completely covered in flames.
"Vibrava, use Dragon Rush again!" Hunter commanded in hopes of buying Vibrava time to recover. Salamence was quicker, though, ignoring Vibrava as the Dragon type darted forward and headbutted Sneasel across the floor.
Sneasel lay still, clearly having fainted from Salamence's two attacks. Charizard rushed forward, striking Salamence once again with a Thunder Punch. Salamence's body crackled with electricity, crying in pain, before a Dragon Pulse erupted from the Pokemon's mouth. Charizard was struck at point blank and sent flying across the room once again.
'Shit, what the hell am I supposed to do' Hunter mentally cursed, watching Charizard slowly push itself up from the ground. Meanwhile, Salamence still had yet to take a heavy breath from exhaustion. Vibrava still appeared to be in decent shape, though it didn't stand a chance against Salamence by itself. Hell, even with Charizard, they were on the losing side of this battle.
Feeling an immense pain on his head, Miles groaned at the pounding feeling. The teenager's eyes slowly blinked open; his vision completely gone to shit as everyone appeared blurry. Slowly, he was able to make out the figure of Cherry, her face becoming much more clear as her worrying expression was now visible.
"Thank Arceus! I thought you freaking died dude." Cherry sighed in relief, finally sitting backwards as her attention shifted momentarily to the battle. Henry continued to order Vibrava around, strategically blinding Salamence and attacking it's blind spots while Charizard fought the Dragon type head on.
'Huh, smart guy.' Cherry thought, admiring his use of sand attack and quick physical attacks. It was the much safer and effective method than attacking a Pseudo-Legendary without any strategy.
"Yeah, me too." Miles joked, feeling way too nauseous for his own liking. "Where the hell are all the teachers and law enforcement?"
"I don't know! Why the hell are we even dealing with this…this THING in the first place?!" Cherry screamed, sounding even more pissed off now than nervous.
'I guess that's a good thing?' Miles contemplated, before finally paying attention to what was occurring regarding Salamence. Charizard looked to be in pretty shit condition, with Salamence being damaged but barely slowed down. Hunter and his Vibrava were the only reason Salamence hadn't finished off his Pokemon, though the same could be said the other way around.
Even worse, Crest and its first floor had been demolished severely. The building had three floors, making its collapse even more of a concern. Several pillars were noticeably damaged, while others had already been taken out. There was a major possibility that there were students still located on the upper floors. Not to mention the groups of students cowering behind couches and any objects that hid them from view.
This fight couldn't continue here, that was for certain. Miles pushed himself off the floor, getting on one knee. This drew Cherry's attention, as she put her hands on his shoulder in an effort to stop him.
"Miles, you're definitely concussed! Why the heck are you trying to stand up?" Cherry reprimanded her friend, who simply rolled his eyes and gently pushed her hands off him. Now standing up and totally not swaying slightly, the teenager gave the fight his full attention.
"Don't worry, I have a plan." Miles reassured the blonde, who stared at him incredulously with her mouth open. It was during this time that Vibrava was struck by a Dragon Claw, sending Hunter's Pokemon crashing down to the floor and out of the fight.
Cherry turned to the boy once again, with Miles grimacing and clicking his tongue.
"Ok, I totally have a new plan." Miles stated once again, mentally thanking Arceus as he watched Charizard buy the group a couple seconds by using Thunder Punch and sending Salamence through another wall. Nevertheless, the building shook considerably as another pillar crumbled. Screams erupted once again, with Crest clearly in massive danger of crumbling into rubble.
"Well, what's your plan? PT asked worriedly as Hunter returned his fainted Vibrava, the trio watching as Miles ran towards Charizard. Miles patted the starter Pokemon twice, making Charizard lean downwards and allowing Miles to climb his back.
"Uhhh I'll explain later?" Miles half asked, annoying the trio clearly. In the background, Salamence stood up, with even more scrapes and bruises covering its body.
"Are you seriously leaving us?" Hunter asking the obvious question, since it seemed pretty clear that was the case as Miles sat on the Flying type Pokemon. Once again, Miles rolled his eyes as blood still poured out of his cut.
"No dude. Well, actually… Kind of. But I'm taking our problem with me."
Charizard bellowed loudly at Salamence, who appeared even mor aggravated and focused on the Pokemon. Before the group could say anything else, Charizard and Miles flew upwards at a straight angle, breaking through the glass roof. Salamence didn't hesitate and swiftly pursued the two. The trio watched closely, in awe and annoyance at the teenagers actions.
"Alright buddy, I'm gonna be completely honest with you. I have no fucking plan at all."
Charizard grunted in response, with Miles struggling to hold on as the two soared at a rapid speed in the air. Salamence followed at a breathtaking velocity, right on Charizard's tail.
As the fierce wind sounded through his ears, Miles scanned the campus and the possible damage. There was noticeable destruction, judging by decent sized craters in the ground, as well as partially destroyed buildings. What was surprising, however, was the number of students and teachers battling other Pokemon on the ground level.
Collared Pokemon, such as Mightyena and Golbats ran rampant. It appeared that like Salamence, the Pokemon were keen on wreaking havoc and targeting students and teachers alike.
"It's back!" A red haired girl shouted, drawing the attention of trainers and teachers preoccupied with battling. Charizard and Salamence flew past them, the extreme wind created from the Pokemon affecting everybody on the ground.
Just as Miles had become comfortable and accustomed to the high speed chase, Salamence seemed to have other plans. The Dragon Pokemon roared behind the two, firing a Dragon Pulse. Barely catch this as he looked behind, Miles screamed for Charizard to dodge. Narrowly, the Dragon Pulse flew past the two and struck a statue of Headmaster Reynolds, completely destroying the landmark.
'Oops?'
Charizard turned back ninety degrees, after having initially rotated to avoid the attack. Salamence now actively firing attacks as they soared through Champion's Academy was yet just another issue the teen had to resolve. Not thinking much about it, Miles ordered his Pokemon once more.
"Charizard, fly straight up into the air. I'll let you know when to dodge or rotate to avoid Salamence's attacks." Miles stated, firmly wrapping his arms around Charizard's neck. Sensing Charizard grunt in response, Miles tightened his grip and was still caught off guard as Charizard flew straight up at full tilt.
Those who weren't involved in the battle on the ground watched in confusion, seeing the two behemoths head straight up to the sky. Their figures slowly got smaller and became much more difficult to see, quickly becoming only barely visible outlines.
Salamence continued to fire attacks, with Charizard dodging them by the smallest margins with the help of his trainer. The air became thicker and more difficult to take in, Miles feeling his grip loosen slightly. Sure, the teenager had some fragment of an idea. The key word there being fragment.
Eventually, Charizard screamed out in pain as a Dragon Pulse grazes his side and barely missed Miles. Seeing that it was unwise to stall any longer, Miles took action.
"Now Charizard, smokescreen!" Charizard obeyed, turning around and firing a thick black cloud. Miles struggled to breathe, covering his eyes as the smoke enveloped all three of them.
It sounded like Salamence was just as disoriented, with sounds of wings flapping and frequent sounds of frustration being emitted from the Pokemon. As Salamence cleared the smoke partially, his body became partially visible to the trainer.
"Hit him down with Blast Burn!" Miles ordered Charizard to do his strongest move. Charizard quickly obeyed, with the noticeable heat appearing a few feet from his body before quickly slamming against Salamence.
Salamence was launched downwards, clearly disoriented as the Dragon Type attempted to stabilize his falling form. Miles knew better than to let up the assault, though, as it was doubtful Salamence would be taken out so easily.
"Dragon Claw! Send him to the football field!"
Charizard's hand glowed purple, his class stretching out as he flew towards the falling Salamence. The dragon claw connected cleanly, Salamence crying in anguish as he sailed down to the deserted field. Unfortunately for Miles, the teenager's grip loosened due to the collision.
"Oh, shit!" His words were drowned out as Miles slipped off the Pokemon. Falling rapidly, Miles reached his arm out in vain for Charizard to grab him. It was impossible to accurately see Charizard, as the Pokemon kept fading in and out of view due to Miles's body swaying uncontrollably.
'Cmon, Charziard…" Miles thought, egging his Pokemon on to himself. If you asked the trainer how much time had passed as he continued to plummet down to the Earth, you would have received an answer between ten seconds or ten minutes. It seemed impossible to determine time in such a situation, feeling as if he had been falling for just a few seconds, even though it seemed like an infinite time loop.
Miles flinched as he continued to plummet, hearing a noticeable crash on the floor. A second later, Miles grunted due to the impact he felt as Charizard had caught the boy, holding him close to his chest and the two sailed just a few feet above the floor.
Suddenly lurching backwards, Charizard landed on both feet while letting Miles down gently to the floor. Miles sighed, relief flooding his system at the feeling of his feet on the ground.
In front of the two, dust encompassed where Salamence had landed. The grass field was decently torn up, although considered the damage done to some other buildings, it was definitely a favorable outcome. It was a combination between skill and luck that Charizard had managed to hit the Pseudo-Legendary into the abandoned field. Sure, it was reckless, but then again, it wasn't the students job to deal with Pseudo-Legendary invaders.
"Thanks buddy." Miles patted his Pokemon's chest, who was still glaring at the covered crater to be certain Salamence was finished.
"Good luck getting up from that shit." Miles laughed, before going quiet and expression dropping seeing a pair of red eyes make their way from the smoke. Smoke came out of Charizard's nostrils, watching as Salamence slowly walked towards the two.
The Dragon's footsteps pounded against the ground, finally making its way out of the smoke. Miles looked on in shock, his spirit completely breaking at seeing the Pokemon relatively unscathed.
'How… How is he still standing? Charizard sent him crashing down all the way from the damn clouds…"
Suddenly, several blue circles appeared and encircled the group. Salamence bellowed, scanning the area as a group of about ten people appeared from thin air. The unidentified people wore black shorts and a black undershirt, with a red vest partially covering their upper body. On their right shoulder was a fitted symbol, revealing themselves to be Pokemon Rangers.
Miles fell down to one knee in exhaustion, watching as the blue circle continued to enclose Salamence. It seemed that the rangers controlled the circle with a device across their forearm. The other rangers who weren't fitted with this device commanded their Butterfree. Several Butterfree avoided Salamence's ranged attacks, flying around it gracefully while spraying what Miles believed to be sleep powder.
It only took a few seconds before Salamence could no longer move, as the rangers had efficiently and successfully wrapped its body using their Capture Stylers. Before Salamence could resist any further, its head drooped down as the Sleeping Powder finally affected him. The last thing Miles saw before his vision went black were the red, piercing eyes of Salamence, focused solely on the boy before him.
HES DOWN AND OUT FOR THE COUNT! Well, not really considering it was only with the rangers capturing Salamence that he was finally defeated. Finally, Salamence's attack has concluded.
