Chapter 75: The Mystery of the Fog
It was Monday at school. Tucker brought the strange medallion with him in his pocket. He and Kokuwamon had been trying their best to learn what the thing was, but they couldn't really decipher anything huge. But there were a few things they learned in regard to the strange medallion. He was waiting for Danny and the others to arrive before he told them what he found out. He could've called them, but he wanted to show them in person.
Danny, Andy, Sam, and Takuya soon arrived. Takuya had a lot of extra work to make up for his week of absence, but he wasn't too bothered by it.
"Hey, guys, remember that weird medallion that was on Labramon yesterday?" Tucker asked.
"Yeah, why?" Danny asked, raising an eyebrow. "Did you find out anything about it?"
"Well…" Tucker started to pull the medallion out.
"Wait, not here," Andy quickly whispered. "We need to go somewhere private before you show that thing off."
"Where? The janitor's closet?" Tucker frowned.
"That might be a good idea," Sam answered. "We don't know who could be watching us after all."
"Alright, fine," Tucker sighed. "Then let's hurry before school starts."
The group went into the school, however, as they were passing by the lockers, Danny caught sight of Paulina. Paulina had her locker opened, and… she had a shrine, filled with pictures, and little figurines of Danny in his ghost form. She also had some bats next to Danny's pictures, which were probably supposed to represent Patamon in his ghost form. Danny's jaw dropped when he saw Paulina leaning into the biggest picture of him in his ghost form, and kissed the picture on the lips before she closed the door.
"U-uh… Paulina?" Danny spoke up, disturbed at what he saw.
Paulina turned to Danny, a look of disinterest on her face. "What do you want?" She asked in her snooty tone.
"For the record, we broke up, right?" Danny pointed out.
"What? We were never going out, loser," Paulina huffed before she walked away.
The blond haired kid who had a shrine in his own locker dedicated to Paulina smiled at hearing this. "Yes!"
"Dude, she's never going to be interested in you," Danny bluntly said. "Find someone else, have some self respect, please…"
The kid blinked before waving Danny off, like his words didn't matter.
Danny pouted. "Can't blame a guy for trying…"
Danny walked back over to the others, who stopped and waited for him.
"Can you believe it? Paulina is still in love, but with the wrong me!" Danny groaned.
"I mean, it's still you, Paulina just doesn't know it's you," Andy corrected.
"Whatever," Danny huffed. "And it's creepy!"
"Dude, she had a whole shrine dedicated to you, of course it's creepy, but also kinda cool," Tucker remarked.
Sam lightly punched Tucker in the arm. "No, it's just creepy."
Takuya shivered. "Makes me glad it's not my Digimon form she is obsessed with. That would be creepy to me !"
"Well…" Andy gave a small grin. "You may have a fan or two… with a lot of locker space…"
"You're joking…" Takuya deadpanned.
"The humans at this school have some really weird hobbies," Lopmon whispered in Andy's backpack.
"Who are the fans?" Takuya asked nervously.
"See this? It's an authentic replica of the great and powerful Flamma-Bill's arm!" Nathaniel showed what looked like Agunimon's arm to the other nerds, who were all looking in awe at it. "I made it myself, using every photo of Flamma-Bill I could find with painstaking detail. I hope Valerie likes it when I show her."
Takuya paled. "Oh… crap…"
Danny was snickering. "It seems I'm not the only one with fans~"
Sam and Tucker were trying not to laugh their heads off as they covered their mouths.
"Flamma-Bill… that's a nice name, don't you think?~" Andy grinned.
"I am so dead…" Takuya groaned. "I'd rather not get more fans, especially the nerds…"
"Hey, it's better than 'Specter-Al'," Danny huffed.
"I hate that name…" Takuya grumbled. "I think I need a publicist…"
"Hey Fenton!" Calvin called as he walked over to the group. "I'm going to need that A-List package and membership back, now that you're not dating Paulina anymore."
"Here," Danny said, shoving the A-List package back at Calvin's face. "You can have your membership package back."
Calvin blinked, surprised at how quickly Danny had handed it over. "W-Well…" He wasn't sure how to handle this situation since he was sure he would have to beat Danny up to get it back. "Good, glad you were fast on the uptake. But don't think you're getting off that easy."
"What else do you want, Calvin?" Danny frowned.
"I don't like that tone," Calvin hissed.
"Step off, Calvin," Dash said as he walked over. "You got the package and membership back from him. Stop wasting energy and let's go."
Calvin grumbled. "Fine… But I don't like how he spoke to me." He mumbled.
Dash gave the group a wink before walking away with Calvin.
"Wow, it's almost surreal that Dash just helped us out against one of his bully posses," Sam remarked.
"I will say, that popularity was nice while it lasted, but I rather be with my real friends," Danny said.
"Yeah, it's just…" Tucker took the yogurt card out of Danny's backpack. "You were one stamp away from getting that free yogurt."
"And how did you know that, Tuck? Were you watching me get that thing stamped?" Danny questioned.
Tucker blushed. "I was… just curious if you were taking advantage of that!"
"Uh-huh… were you hoping Danny was gonna share the yogurt or something?" Takuya chuckled.
"Maybe?" Tucker huffed.
Takuya still couldn't believe one of his cousins became an A-List popular kid, and he hadn't been here for it.
"That's okay. We don't need some A-List popularity club anyways, we have The Digidestined guild to start up," Andy chuckled, and he could feel Lopmon happily vibrating in his backpack.
Sam grinned. "Yeah, and to think, no one else is doing it but us! It's like a secret hero group or something! And we also have the Legendary Warriors on our side, so we're really going to be a strong guild."
"What's this about Legendary Warriors and guilds?" Mikey asked as he had been passing by the group.
"Ah, nothing! Nothing at all!" Sam quickly said.
"It's just for a video game, nothing more, nothing less," Andy cooly said, hoping the smartest kid in school… next to his sister, would buy that.
Mikey frowned. "And what video game is this?"
"Why do you care? Don't you have homework or something to do?" Danny asked.
"Yes, I do," Mikey said. "Doesn't mean I don't play video games myself though."
"I mean, it's true. I've seen Mikey having over 1000 hours in the last Doomed game, and winning all of the keys at the end," Tucker confirmed.
"So, I ask again, what video game were you talking about?" Mikey asked again.
The group hesitated. They weren't sure how to tell Mikey. Because Mikey could be a player in The Ruler of a Digital World, and that could be a detriment to them if he knew what they were talking about. But if they tried to lie, and he was a player, then he would know.
The group, however, were saved from answering when the warning bell rang.
"Oh, look at that, we have to get to class now. Sorry, Mikey, we gotta go," Andy quickly said.
"Yeah, see you later, Mikey!" Danny quickly said, hurrying after Andy.
"You have fun with gaming and whatever," Sam said as she rushed after Danny and Andy.
"Say hi to the other guys for me before our next Dungeons and Dragons session," Tucker said before he hurried after the other three.
Takuya gave an awkward wave. "Bye! Have to get to my next class!" He said before turning and running after as well.
Mikey narrowed his eyes as they hastily went in the opposite direction. They're hiding something.
"Tucker, you'll have to show us what you discovered at lunch," Andy said.
"Okay, let's just hope there won't be too many annoyances today," Tucker replied.
Unfortunately, when lunch started, Danny and Patamon were outside, in their ghost forms, dealing with a ghost eel that decided to attack the school at this time.
"I know ghosts have no respect for the real world time, but why did this one choose to attack right when we were about to eat?" Patamon growled before expanding himself. "Ecto-Bubble!"
The ecto ball smacked into the eel. The eel stayed still to take it, but the eel didn't expect the bubble to explode, knocking it into a pumpkin that was outside of the school for some reason.
Danny grinned. "Good thing that wasn't me~" He quipped. "I'd hate to have a pumpkin pie made from scratch."
Patamon groaned. "That wasn't even that good of a pun."
Danny frowned a little. "What? I thought it was good…"
The eel ghost growled as it flew at Danny and Patamon again, trying to grab them with its teeth. Patamon flew up to distract the ghost eel while Danny tried to grab the eel from the tail. The ghost eel, however, was very slippery, so Danny couldn't quite grab the eel.
"Okay, this is one slippery ghost," Danny noted.
"Then allow me," Patamon said before he turned around and stretched out his wings. "Wing Slap!"
Patamon flew at the ghost eel and sliced the ghost's body with his wings. The ghost eel let out a cry of pain as its body was leaking ectoplasm.
"Now's your chance, catch it!" Patamon called.
Danny grinned as he whipped out the Fenton Thermos. "I hope you enjoy being wrapped up like a piece of sushi!" He quipped as the beam activated, sucking in the ghost eel. The Thermos's opening went dark, just as Danny slapped the lid back on.
"Not bad, I guess you didn't need me to step in this time."
Danny and Patamon were shocked when they saw the Red Huntress herself coming in. She had Salamon on her hoverboard.
"Good job, you two." Salamon smiled, though she was glancing at Patamon curiously.
"Um… Yeah… thanks." Danny said awkwardly. "Though I did have a bit of a rough spot there… Ghost eels can be slippery…"
"We were watching to see how you'd handle it," Valerie admitted. "I saw how you led the ghost eel away from the school. So… at least I know you have enough sense to keep the fights away from people when you can help it."
"Yeah, of course," Danny nodded.
"By the way… uh… is that a Digimon you have floating beside you?" Valerie asked, looking at Patamon. "It kinda looks like a Patamon."
"Um… he is… But… uh… he's a unique Digimon." Danny replied awkwardly. "He's Spectermon."
"I'm surprised, I've never seen a… Spectermon before," Salamon admitted.
"Did you somehow end up in the Digital World at some point?" Valerie asked.
"He may have gotten caught up in the Digital World once or twice," Patamon grumbled. "I just couldn't leave the kid alone, so I went with him."
"Huh… I didn't think it was possible for a ghost to have a Digimon partner." Valerie remarked. "But… I guess with all the weirdness I've seen, this isn't the most unusual thing I've encountered, but it is by far the most unexpected."
"We didn't expect that to happen either," Danny admitted.
"Well, I guess since there aren't any ghosts around here… besides you, I better get back to school. The staff is having us decorate the hallways for Halloween," Valerie remarked. "You better get out of here before you're spotted by someone else."
"Right, thanks," Danny said before Valerie flew her hoverboard away somewhere. "Wait, did she say the school was decorating for Halloween? … It's almost Halloween!?"
"You didn't know?" Patamon asked.
"Hey can you blame me? With all that has been going on, I didn't realize it was so close to Halloween!" Danny replied.
"What's Halloween?" Patamon asked.
"... I have a lot to teach you," Danny said. "Let's get back to school."
Patamon nodded before the two of them flew back to the school.
"Jeez, I can't believe it's already October. So much had happened that I forgot what month it was," Andy said as he was putting up posters for the haunted house event his school was doing.
"I know, right? Usually I'm pretty excited for holidays, but this slipped my mind until Mr. Lancer had us all come out here to put up decorations," Dash agreed, who was painting his own poster next to Andy.
"How was Labramon by the way? Did your parents let you keep her despite already having a dog in the house?" Andy asked.
"Actually, yes." Dash replied. "I just explained that she was a stray and I couldn't leave her alone out there. "Although I did have to make up a story about taking her to the vet and getting checked out, that wasn't really doubted because I take good care of Pookie. Labramon seems to get along well with Pookie, which I'm glad for."
"Probably because they're both dogs?" Andy wondered. "Although a Digimon dog isn't quite like real life dogs."
"Yeah, Labramon is able to eat chocolate no problem, but that would kill Pookie," Dash said.
"Well, I'm glad to hear Labramon is settling in well," Andy said.
"Me too," Dash agreed.
As Dash put up his poster, he looked back at Andy. "Hey, uh, Fenton?"
"You can call me 'Andy', Dash. Just saying my last name when my brother is around gets a bit confusing to who you're talking to," Andy said.
"Right, well… I was wondering… do you think that we really… can work with the…" Dash looked around for a moment before whispering. "Legendary Warriors? I mean it's just… weird, isn't it? They can turn into these powerful Digimon, and all… so… like, does it make sense for us to work with them?"
"Well, they need allies outside of their group to solve this mystery with the fog," Andy answered. "We might be their best allies to do that, especially if the fog is ghost related. Besides, my cousin is a Legendary Warrior, so… it's not like I can just ignore that."
Dash frowned. "That's true. It's just… it's still gonna be kinda weird… I mean… what is it like for you? Having a cousin who's a Legendary Warrior? I don't really feel worthy enough to fight alongside them… I haven't been the best person, you know?"
Andy frowned as he looked at the poster. "Everyone can change for the better, Dash. I don't think they'll hold that against us." But still… How do I feel about it? That's a good question… It's not just the whole Legendary Warriors thing I have to think about, but the fact my brother is half ghost, and that also affects Patamon.
"I hope you're right, Andy." Dash sighed. "I guess… this will be kinda awkward for all of us."
"Hey guys, is this a good time?" Tucker called, looking at Andy.
"Okay," Andy said before he looked at Dash. "We're going to see what the medallion around Labramon's neck was, you stay here and make sure nobody follows us."
Dash nodded. "Okay, but you gotta tell me what you learn when we get a free moment, okay?"
"Yeah, of course. Just didn't want people getting suspicious when they saw Dash Baxter following a bunch of losers into the janitor's closet," Andy chuckled before he followed Tucker.
Dash gave a sigh and wondered when he and Andy started talking more. Not to mention, Andy seemed to take charge a lot without seeming to realize it, and Dash didn't mind it at all. Not that he would tell anyone about it.
Andy and Tucker went into the janitor's closet. They saw Sam, Takuya, Danny, and Patamon, back in their regular forms.
"I guess Tucker already got the rest of you," Andy noted.
"It's do this quick, it smells like clorox in here," Lopmon coughed.
Tucker took the medallion out of his backpack and showed it to the group. "There's a bit of a ghostly aura on this thing, can you see it?"
Takuya blinked. "Yeah, I can." He confirmed.
"So this thing is ghostly?" Danny asked as he poked the medallion.
"In a sense." Tucker admitted. "From what Kokuwamon and I could gather, this thing is definitely not from our world, or the Digital World. It's not just ghostly either, there's something else about it that… is hard to describe. It's like it shouldn't exist, but it does. But the major thing is that it seems to have some kind of energy around it, where if you have it on you, then it protects you from the time stopping fog, as we saw with Dash and Labramon."
"Wait, you're saying this medallion doesn't exist?" Sam asked. "How does that work?"
"I couldn't tell you, like I said, we don't know how to describe it," Tucker answered.
"Perhaps the best term for it is that it may exist outside of time, that's why it feels like it shouldn't exist," Patamon stated.
Takuya frowned. "Then it has to be some kind of ghostly artifact. It's… weird… I can sense its power, and it's intense…"
"But where did it come from? How did it get on Labramon?" Andy asked.
"I don't know. My only guess is that either this medallion somehow fell into the Digital World along with the fog, and it happened to land on Labramon's neck. Or… someone gave it to her," Tucker said.
Danny paled as he remembered sensing a ghost in that fog, and seeing something moving in there before Labramon came out of the fog.
"I think… someone gave this to Labramon…" Danny said slowly. "I sensed a ghost in the fog, just before Labramon started coming out of there."
"How could a ghost move through that fog?" Sam asked.
"What if it's not just any ghost?" Lopmon asked. "I mean the green fog, we discovered, sent us to Skulker's Island. What if this fog is coming from a ghost's lair or something?"
"Do you think that might be why time is stopping with that fog? Because of the particular ghost the fog is leaking from?" Danny asked.
"It's possible," Lopmon said. "I mean… wasn't Skulker a hunter? Wouldn't bringing prey to his island be a dream come true for him?"
"If that's true… what kind of ghost would be powerful enough to stop time itself?" Andy frowned. "And… was that the ghost who was in the fog that gave Labramon this medallion? And if so, why? What is this ghost's end goal?"
"I don't want to consider that…" Takuya shivered.
"This ghost… if we ever encounter them, I'd hate to see what they are capable of." Sam admitted.
"Don't you guys get it? That ghost was there in the fog. If that ghost wanted to hurt us, it would've done so a long time ago," Andy pointed out. "Instead, it gave Labramon a tool to move in the fog, and in turn, gave us a tool to be able to move through that fog. Why didn't it take it back once Labramon was out? It could've easily done that since it can, most likely, manipulate time itself."
Danny looked down. "That's true. But we don't know what this ghost wants. We… We'll have to be careful regardless. I don't want to assume this ghost is friendly until we know more about it."
"Well… either way, we're going to need to figure out how to get rid of the fog," Takuya sighed. "Otherwise the Digital World will be frozen in time…"
"Well, we managed to get rid of the fog by defeating Skulker at his island," Andy said. "It stands to reason the same thing would happen if we defeated the ghost that's releasing that fog into the Digital World."
"But if it's a ghost that can control time, how would you defeat it?" Lopmon frowned.
"How would you even find it? We don't even know any ghosts that can control time." Tucker frowned.
Sam gave it some thought. "I can try looking through books about ghosts, and legends about the Ghost Zone. There might be some kind of clue about a ghost that can control time."
"I don't know if we can defeat a ghost that can control time though." Takuya frowned. "I mean… that sounds downright impossible. I'm not saying it is impossible… it's just really really difficult."
"I"m sure there's a way… if we need to," Danny said. "Besides, cuz, you're one of the Legendary Warriors. It's not like you to give up when something's difficult."
"Besides, maybe there is a way," Andy said as he held up the medallion. "Whoever wears this seems to be immune to the effects of time, at least from what we saw. If it comes down to it, the best person who can fight this ghost should wear it."
"What if the ghost removes it or something?" Danny asked.
"Then… do what you did with that dragon amulet, but the opposite," Andy said.
"What? … Oh… ohhh… eeew, no way!" Danny shivered with disgust.
"Are we missing something here?" Sam frowned. "What is Andy talking about?"
Takuya snickered. "Andy swallowed a dragon amulet during the school dance, and Danny had to reach into Andy's stomach, with his hands intangible, to get it out."
"Wait… you swallowed a dragon amulet?" Tucker asked, shocked.
"I didn't think you'd be capable of such a thing," Sam said, also shocked.
"And you tell me to watch what I put in my mouth," Lopmon snickered.
Andy's cheeks were red. "I was a dragon when that happened, alright!? And believe me, nobody was more mortified than I was when that happened."
"So Takuya wasn't the only one to go on a draconic rampage in your family, good to know," Sam muttered.
"Danny did it first!" Andy pointed.
"Only because that thing latched onto me!" Danny retorted, blushing red now.
"Wow, you guys are a family of dragons," Tucker snickered.
"Oh shut up," Andy huffed.
"And besides, I am not eating that medallion!" Danny pointed out.
"I didn't say you had to eat it," Andy grumbled.
"You implied it!" Danny stated.
"Look, you asked me what would happen if the ghost tried to remove it, so I just gave you a solution to that," Andy sighed. "It's not my fault you freaked out over it."
"I understand not wanting to put an unknown object inside you. Though it's probably not all that different from how I put the D-Arc and the dagger into my fractal code for safe keeping," Patamon remarked.
"You can do that!?" Lopmon's eyes went wide.
"Lopmon, you are not storing things into your fractal code," Andy quickly said.
Lopmon pouted. "Awww! No fair!" He whined.
"Look, we need to get back on topic." Takuya said. "We can't keep changing the subject from this time ghost."
Tucker grumbled. "Fine…"
"There isn't much else to say right now. Until we know more about this potential time ghost, if it really exists, and if the fog is coming from them, we'll have to stay here and try to do more research," Andy stated. "We'll leave the book to Sam. Maybe once our parents are finally out of the lab, we might be able to check out the Ghost Zone again."
"Oh boy… I am not looking forward to this next trip to the Ghost Zone." Takuya grumbled.
Danny shivered. "Me neither…" He admitted, remembering Walker and his grudge against him.
"Well, who knows, maybe we'll actually get to enjoy Halloween this year," Andy chuckled. "And… maybe see if it really affects ghosts like our parents says it does."
"What do Uncle Jack and Aunt Maddie say Hallowen does to ghosts?" Takuya asked.
"They used to tell us how ghosts become much stronger and scarier, and look more like demons on Halloween," Andy answered. "But I'm pretty sure that was just a scary story they used to tell us when we were kids. I doubt even Mom and Dad believe ghosts could become that much stronger and scarier on one day of the year."
Danny groaned. "If it does happen, I'm not looking forward to it. In fact, I may stay in my human form just to avoid that."
"Danny, we might need your ghost form if ghosts do decide to attack, especially if they're more active at this time of year," Patamon remarked.
"Couldn't 'Flamma-Bill' handle the ghosts instead?" Danny grumbled.
"Guys, we all have our Digimon with us. If a ghost attacks, we'll be ready for them," Sam spoke up. Although… If ghosts do turn into demons for Halloween, I wonder what Danny would look like?
Sam felt her cheeks heating up, shaking her head. Wait, what am I thinking about that for?! I can't get distracted!
"What do we do with the medallion for the time being?" Tucker asked. "I've already gotten as much out of it as I'm going to get."
"I guess we'll hang onto it until we need it," Andy said.
"Okay," Tucker held the medallion out for Andy.
Andy blinked, surprised Tucker just handed the medallion to him , and not Danny, the ghost boy, or Takuya, the Legendary Warrior. But Andy reached out and took the medallion, before stuffing it into his pocket for safe keeping.
"Let's get out before someone checks the janitor's closet," Sam remarked.
The group left the janitor's closet, and started to walk down the hall.
"Do you think that medallion would really help us fight off the time ghost?" Danny asked Andy.
Andy frowned. "I hope so…" But if that's the case, why would the time ghost leave it with us?
Andy had been deep in thought, and didn't notice someone was in front of him until he bumped into that person.
"O-oh, sorry about that, Mr. Lancer," Andy apologized, before noticing Mr. Lancer was looking at a clipboard. "What are you looking at, Mr. Lancer?"
"Oh, hello, Andy." Mr. Lancer said. "I was just looking over the haunted house event this year."
"Haunted house?" Takuya asked.
"That's right, you're new here," Mr. Lancer realized. "Well, every Hallowen, the school chooses a faculty to set up a haunted house at the abandoned Townsend. That's a building on top of a hill. This year it's my turn. And I am bound and determined to decorate it better than Tetslaff did last year."
The burly gym teacher walked up with a grin. "Fat chance." Ms. Tetslaff smirked. "You'll never beat my Fraken-Gertrude-Stein monster." She said as she held up a picture of her in said costume.
"For the last, 9 times, Tetslaff, Frankenstein was the creator of the monster, not the monster himself. You'd know that if you spent some time reading," Mr. Lancer grumbled in annoyance.
"Doesn't matter. Either way, your haunted house is going to seem like a kid's palace compared to that~" Tetslaff grinned before she walked away.
Tucker and Sam blinked as they watched her go, wondering when Mr. Lancer had a rivalry with Ms. Tetslaff.
Mr. Lancer frowned as he realized he wasn't going to beat Tetslaff's haunted house without some kind of help. He looked at Andy, Danny, and Takuya, remembering that they grew up in a family of ghost hunters, or at least Takuya came from a family of ghost hunters.
"Mr. Fenton, both of you, and Mr. Kanbara, how would you 3 like to have some extra credit to your literature class?" Mr. Lancer began.
The three boys looked at one another.
"Um… it's not that we need it but…" Takuya began, unsure of how to respond. Oh man… What am I getting into here?
"Do we have to?" Danny asked nervously.
"If it helps, I can talk to the other teachers to maybe give you boys a day off from school like with your sister," Mr. Lancer bargained.
"A day off from school?" Danny blinked, surprised. Now that was something he would take, especially since it would make things easier for him.
Mr. Lancer must be desperate if he's willing to give us a day off from school. Andy noted. "What do you want us to do?"
"I'm a little short on staff. So I would like you 3 to help me build a scary haunted house. If it's scary enough to be scarier than Tetslaff's haunted house, then you boys earned yourselves a day off from school," Mr. Lancer stated. "What do you say?"
Takuya had never made a haunted house before. Normally he was fighting against the horrors of Amity Park, not making them. Danny was surprised at the idea of making a haunted house, it never occurred to him to make one before.
"I'd say it's worth a shot," Andy spoke up.
Takuya and Danny looked at Andy.
"Are you sure, bro?" Danny asked. "I mean… it would be fun, but…"
"Well, I'm not complaining if it gets us a day off of school." Takuya grinned.
"Great, I look forward to seeing what you boys can come up with~" Mr. Lancer smiled before walking away.
Andy turned to Danny and Takuya. "Honestly, I think working on this haunted house would be a great way for us to work some things out. It gives us a break from… well, everything else. And it might help stimulate our creativity."
"You're sounding like Jazz again," Danny grumbled.
"Okay, then to speak it in your language, bro. Use your brain to make something cool and scary, then you're able to solve problems better," Andy replied as he pointed at Danny's forehead.
"It's not that easy, bro!" Danny whined.
"Now, now, no need to argue~" Takuya grinned.
"Besides, that day off from school sounds like it'll be a huge help for us," Andy added.
"Hey, do you think if we helped you, we could get a day off from school too?" Tucker asked.
"You'll have to ask Mr. Lancer about that," Danny shrugged.
"Hey, any help would be appreciated." Takuya grinned. "We could probably make this the best haunted house ever!"
"I'm down for it too." Sam grinned. "I'll also be looking through the books for this time ghost too."
"Great, then when we go home later, we can come up with some ideas." Andy smiled.
Takuya raised an eyebrow. I wonder… did Andy agree to do this to try to distract us from the trouble of the Digital World? I guess we have been stressing out about that lately.
Later, when school was out for the day, Danny, Andy, Takuya, and Tucker were in the twins' bedroom. Danny was struggling to come up with something scary for the haunted out. He began drawing a few ideas.
"What if we did something with skeletons?" Danny asked, showing Tucker his picture of a skeleton choking a human, who looked suspiciously like Calvin. "Is that scary?"
"On a scale of not to 10? Not." Tucker said. "But then again, given what we have been through, I guess nothing seems that scary."
"That's true." Danny admitted with a frown before tearing off the picture and crumpling it up before throwing it into the pile of tossed ideas that filled his wastebasket.
Patamon yawned as he relaxed on the bed. "We could do something themed like Circus Gothica. Devimon was pretty scary, and him taking you and Takuya away was probably the scariest thing ever."
"I don't think losing someone you care about is considered scary for a haunted house," Danny chuckled sheepishly.
Andy chuckled as he looked at the papers Danny crumpled. Even as a half ghost, he's still just as big a dork as ever. There's no way he could ever be scary even if he tried.
"What do humans usually find scary?" Lopmon asked as he was munching on a chocolate bar.
"Let's see… Vampires, zombies, mummies, spiders… Ghostly happenings…" Danny listed off on his fingers. "Quite a few things actually."
"Maybe we should bring in some Mummymon and Dokugumon?" Lopmon suggested.
"We're not bringing Digimon here for a haunted house." Patamon rolled his eyes.
"Okay… so what do you suggest then?" Lopmon huffed.
"Maybe we could just use Takuya's Beast Spirit as a scary monster, it worked on us, didn't it?" Tucker chuckled.
"Um… BurningGreymon would not really fit in the house…" Takuya admitted sheepishly. "I tower over you guys when evolved like that…"
"Oh, how about this?" Danny suggested before he transformed into his ghost form, then he lifted up the blanket from his bed and put it over his body. He turned invisible and tried to make the floating blanket look scary and creepy.
"Okay, that's pretty creepy," Andy admitted.
Sam walked into the room, and rolled her eyes. "That's pretty lame actually."
"Oh come on…" Danny groaned as he dropped his invisibility.
"I think you guys are thinking too hard on this," Andy said as he rolled his eyes. "What makes something scary is the presentation. It doesn't matter if you find it scary, just as long as the people going into the haunted house find it scary."
"True." Tucker chuckled. "All we need to do is present it in a scary manner. What it is doesn't matter."
"But the subject should still be scary anyway, right?" Takuya pointed out.
"I think you can make anything scary with the right tweaking, lighting, and maybe throw in some creepy lore if you can," Andy said. "Look at Lopmon here."
Andy picked up Lopmon who had chocolate on his face. "He's very cute and not at all scary, right? But what if we made his eyes look soulless, make this chocolate look red like blood, and maybe give him some fake vampire teeth to look like he has fangs. And suddenly…"
Andy grinned as he put Lopmon on his head, and Lopmon lifted up his ears.
"Rawr!"
"You have an uncanny, creepy rabbit who looks like he came from hell and is ready to devour you," Andy finished.
Takuya, Tucker, and Danny were trying not to laugh.
"I hate to break it to you, but it's hard to imagine that." Danny giggled. "Especially since Lopmon is just too cute."
Lopmon pouted.
Andy looked up at Lopmon. "Give me a second."
Andy took Lopmon to his desk.
"Hey, Danny, while I'm here, I found a book that might be a clue to where the fog could be coming from," Sam said, holding out a book she got out of her backpack. "I was able to find it at the old book shop where I like to skulk and lurk."
Danny transformed back to his human form and sat down on his bed before taking the book.
"Chronicles of the Fright Knight?" Danny read the title. "How would this Fright Knight be the source of the fog?"
Danny opened the book, seeing a detailed picture of an armored entity with flames on his back, riding on a horse with pupiless eyes, and bat-like wings.
"He's the age-old spirit of Halloween. Legend has it that if his sword, the Soul Shredder, cuts through you, you get teleported to a dimension where you live out your worst fear," Sam stated. "It's also possible that where he comes from, time is at a standstill. An old armored ghost, never really changing, and is the spirit of Halloween. Could be our potential 'time ghost'. Not to mention the fog started appearing around October, so maybe it's not a coincidence."
"That… actually makes sense…" Takuya admitted, staring at the image. "And if time is frozen, then there's no way the next day would come, keeping his frights around forever."
"But is this Fright Knight even real?" Tucker asked.
Danny turned the page in the book, and saw a picture of the Fright Knight's lair. His eyes went wide as he recognized the map. "Hey, wait a minute… I've seen this place before. Takuya, can you bring me the folder that has the map of the Ghost Zone to me?"
Takuya opened Danny's nightstand top drawer and took out the folder. "Here you go."
Danny took the folder. "Thanks." He opened it and took out the map of the Ghost Zone they had been working on.
The map was placed next to the open book page. The two images looked eerily similar.
"It looks like an exact copy," Sam noted in awe.
"So we know where in the Ghost Zone this is!" Tucker smiled.
"Exactly," Danny agreed. "That means we'll be able to investigate that place and see if that's where the fog is coming from!"
"Hey guys~" Andy called the group.
They turned to face Andy, and yelped when they suddenly saw Lopmon with dead white eyes, sharp fangs, and what looked like blood splatters on his mouth looking at them with a sinister grin on his face.
Takuya even grabbed his D-Tector and was ready to Spirit Evolve. "Z-Z-Zombie Digimon!"
"What the heck?!" Danny exclaimed.
Tucker felt like fainting. "Oh gosh…"
Sam was shaking. "H-how…?"
Lopmon started laughing and so did Andy.
"You see? I told you! The cuter the subject, the scarier it is when you make them into nightmare fuel!" Andy laughed.
Lopmon spat out the fake vampire fangs, and took out the white eye contact lenses. He used one of his ears to wipe the 'blood' off of his mouth.
"It's just lipstick," Lopmon revealed.
"ANDY!" The group yelled at him.
"NO REGRETS!" Andy shouted back.
"Are you sure this Fright Knight might be the time ghost?" Andy asked, looking at the book himself.
"It's the best we've got right now," Danny said.
"When do you plan to investigate this?" Andy questioned.
"Hopefully soon." Danny sighed. "But I think we should wait until after Halloween."
"Why after Halloween?" Andy asked.
"Because the Fright Knight might be at his strongest during Halloween, and we don't want to risk that," Takuya said.
"Well, until then, what do you plan to do for the haunted house? Hang innocent people upside down?" Andy asked. "Speaking of which, can I be untied now? The blood's rushing to my head…"
"Only if you promise to not do that trick with Lopmon again." Danny replied.
"You really made me want to Spirit Evolve for no reason, by the way." Takuya added.
"I was just showing you guys how you can make anything scary," Andy grumbled. "Besides, you gave us a heart attack before, and I don't see you being hanged upside down."
Danny sighed. "Fine, I'll get you down." He told Andy.
Instead of untying the rope on Andy's feet, or turning Andy intangible to pull him out, Danny went into Andy's body and had him turn intangible. Then he floated down onto Andy's bed before coming out of Andy's body.
"Ugh! Don't do that so casually!" Andy shivered.
Danny grinned. "One of the perks of being a half-ghost, bro~"
Andy responded by throwing a pillow at Danny's face.
"I thought the trick was pretty funny myself," Lopmon said. "Maybe the theme should be zombie Digimon~"
"I liked the ideas you had before. Skeletons, old fashion ghosts, darkness," Patamon remarked.
Danny grinned. "At least someone appreciates the classic scariness."
"So what are we going with? A mix and mash of everything?" Takuya asked.
"You could try basing it off of the Fright Knight," Sam suggested.
"We don't have the resources for something that complicated," Tucker pointed out.
"You could keep it simple," Andy said. "I can tell you what's scary."
The others looked at him suspiciously.
"Relax, I'm not gonna pull another jumpscare at you," Andy quickly said.
"Then what is scary, yet simple?" Takuya asked as he folded his arms.
"It depends on what theme you want to go with," Andy replied. "We could go with the classic horror house with ghosts, goblins, and skeletons. We could go with a movie cave theme with bats, stalagmites, bears, and wolves. We could go with a graveyard theme, or maybe something you think is scary from the Ghost Zone. Or maybe even killer clowns, I know Takuya would be terrified of that~"
Takuya paled. "Do not bring that up!" He exclaimed.
Danny snickered. "Ooooh, maybe a killer clown is lurking under one of our beds~"
Takuya looked at Danny. "Danny, seriously! Don't go there!"
Andy chuckled, though he wondered if maybe he could sprinkle in his own fears and nightmares into this haunted house. The fears and nightmares hadn't been that prominent, because he had been assured, and trusted, that it wouldn't really come true. After all… Danny already proved he couldn't hurt a fly. At worst, he could get mind controlled like with what happened with Freakshow, but his ghost half itself never showed any signs of aggression. And Takuya… well, there was that incident with BurningGreymon, but he wasn't in his right mind, and now he has full control of it. Andy still wasn't sure the full implications of what being a Legendary Warrior meant, but he was willing to work with them if they wanted to work with him.
The nightmare Andy had before, involving Takuya, and a destroyed city, was surely just that; a nightmare. There was no way something like that could ever come true. Sure, maybe he had some… premonitions from time to time, but that didn't mean they were always accurate. After all, Patamon was worried about some dumb prophecy, yet he ended up becoming partners with the one person who may be the person who would bring ruin to all 3 worlds. Andy just hoped that working on this haunted house would help with his stress that caused the nightmare, and he would never have to worry about it again.
On the day of Halloween, Danny, Andy, Takuya, Tucker, and Sam just finished setting everything up. Tucker and Sam brought their Digimon partners with them since it was Halloween, they had the excuse of being in costumes.
Sam was checking out the haunted room they just finished decorating. They had spiked fences around the room with the heads of teddy bears on them. There were fake graves with fake tombstones near the fences. Takuya, with Biyomon and Kokuwamon's help, managed to tie up some fake ghosts floating around the graves. Danny and Andy had set up some kind of fancy looking chair that looked like it could be a throne of some kind, and Andy placed a life-size 'doll' onto the chair. The 'doll' looked like a boy at first glance, but it had spikes on its back, which were just paper mache, a serpent-like tail, its 'hands' having claws, its teeth looking like fangs, most likely stuffed with the fake vampire fangs. The 'doll' was wearing red and black. Danny placed a crown on the figure's head, something he and Andy used was an old plastic crown they got as a toy from the Nasty Burger as kids.
"What's that supposed to be?" Sam asked.
"It's supposed to be the king of all things horror," Andy answered. "I would've wanted to add one of those creepy, plant-like clover mouths with teeth on it in the middle of the chest area, but I didn't have the skills or materials to do that."
"It doesn't look that scary." Takuya admitted. "Well, with the crown it doesn't…" He added with a sweatdrop.
"What do you want me to do, get a thorn of crowns on this thing?" Andy huffed. "We're also trying to make him look regal."
"Maybe I should put a blanket on him to look like a king's cloak?" Danny asked.
"No… that would just make him look funnier…" Andy groaned.
"Well, uh, do you have anything else to make this place scarier? Because the teddy bear heads really aren't all that scary," Tucker pointed out.
"I ran out of make-up," Andy huffed. "Jazz took them all back."
"If it helps, I think they look pretty disturbing," Lopmon said. "Do you have a fear of Kumamon?"
"What?" Andy raised an eyebrow.
"Well, you seem to not like cute bears, and isn't Kumamon a cute bear?" Lopmon asked.
"I don't dislike cute bears, just… the stuffed teddy bears," Andy replied. "But… don't tell Tommy, just in case he takes it the wrong way."
Lopmon grinned. "I won't~"
"I still can't get over the fact Andy is scared of stuffed bears." Takuya snickered.
"You're afraid of clowns," Andy pointed out.
"I mean Piedmon is pretty dang scary, so I don't blame him," Biyomon remarked.
"Who the heck is Piedmon?" Tucker asked.
"He's… quite the dark clown who would give you nightmares," Kokuwamon answered.
"And we've dealt with evil clowns, need I remind you of Freakshow?" Takuya pointed out. "But there's never been an evil teddy bear."
"One day, Takuya, you'll know the true horrors of evil teddy bears," Andy warned.
"I'd rather lose control of BurningGreymon again than have you proven right." Takuya retorted.
"Oh, speaking of BurningGreymon, I also added a more horror version of him to the house. He's not as big, obviously, wouldn't fit in the room," Andy chuckled.
"Yeah, it took us a while to set it up," Patamon grumbled. "I can't believe you had enough legos to even make it that long…"
"What… did you make, exactly?" Takuya asked.
"Danny, pull back the curtains, if you please~" Andy smiled.
Danny grinned. "As you wish~" He teased, pulling back the curtains.
The curtains were pulled back, revealing the lego version of a serpentine form that looked like it was red with bone that was showing. There were small bits of lego flames on it, and it looked like a coiled serpent ready to strike.
"Whoa… Andy, that is a sick creation!" Sam grinned.
"Yeah… if I was more inventive like my parents, I would be adding special flaming and lighting effects to it," Andy chuckled. This thing… I saw it vividly from my nightmares. It doesn't look anything like BurningGreymon, but it also resembles him a little bit.
"Why'd you make me a snake ?" Takuya deadpanned. "That doesn't look anything like BurningGreymon!"
"I told you, it's the horror version of BurningGreymon. Besides, it was easier to make a serpent than a complex armored, feathered winged dragon," Andy answered.
Takuya sweatdropped. "That's a good reason, I guess…"
"Hey, it looks cool, so you can't really complain." Tucker chuckled.
"Probably the scariest thing in this room," Sam remarked.
"Sam, you're not exactly an easy person to scare," Danny deadpanned. "I mean we've got some realistic plastic spiders hanging from the ceiling, but that's like your natural thing."
"So these things are spiders?" Biyomon asked, looking at one of the plastic spiders. "Ah, I thought they were mini-sized Dokugomon."
"Technically Dokugumon is a spider Digimon, and in the human world, this is what spiders look like," Kokuwamon answered.
"What can I say? Horror is more of my thing." Sam grinned. "I can't complain though."
"Alright, is everything set up?" Tucker asked.
"Yeah, I think so," Andy said.
Lopmon was poking at one of the fake graves, and a fake skeleton popped out of it. Lopmon yelped before trying to push the skeleton back down into the grave. Patamon flew over and began hopping onto the skeleton's head to help push it back down.
"Great, then Kokuwamon and I can start Trick-Or-Treating," Tucker said as he picked up his pumpkin shaped bag. "I routed out a map of the town, and made sure to give Kokuwamon the coordinates, so he knows where to go to get the best candies. And to avoid the red zone, nothing but fresh fruits and nuts in the red zones. And this way, with Kokuwamon's help, we'll get double the candy!"
"I'm excited to try out some of this sweetness called 'candy'," Kokuwamon said, holding up a yellow pumpkin bag that Tucker likely gave him.
"You're going to have your own partner Trick-Or-Treat?" Danny blinked.
"Yep!" Tucker grinned. "Why not? He can pass as a kid in a costume."
"And I have integrated knowledge on how human children behave in this world," Kokuwmon stated with confidence.
"Just don't go using big words like 'integrated knowledge'," Biyomon remarked.
"What if someone recognizes you as a Digimon? There are likely many players in Amity Park," Patamon pointed out.
"No worries, they would more likely believe I'm a fan of a particular Digimon rather than actually being a Digimon in this world," Kokuwamon pointed out.
"He has a point, a lot of people wouldn't think it would be possible for Digimon to exist outside of a world they view as a video game," Andy said. "And you'd be surprised how many people would dress up as 'fictional characters' in our world."
Danny grinned. "Yeah, and there are people who do that for conventions. They are called cosplayers."
"Okay, time to get going!" Tucker grinned. "I don't want us to miss the best chocolate route!"
"Wait, where's your costume?" Lopmon asked. "I mean aren't you supposed to wear a costume when you go trick for treats?"
"You're not actually tricking people for treats, it's just a phrase people like to use when getting candy from people," Andy explained.
"But I do want to know about your costume too," Sam agreed.
"Oh, I'm just gonna wear this," Tucker said, putting on one of those funny glasses with the fake nose and mustache.
"That's it?" Takuya blinked.
"Hey, I'm in this for candy, not a costume contest. Besides, gotta travel light if you wanna maximize your haul," Tucker explained.
Sam grumbled. "Of course you would go for the maximum haul. You're a real sweet hound, Tucker."
"Costumes are only good for one day a year, not counting conventions, why go through all that trouble to wear it for one night when I can have a lot more candy that could last me for the whole year?" Tucker chuckled. "Besides, now that I have a Digimon partner to feed, I gotta double that load."
"You know, he has a point," Andy chuckled. "It is more practical to just get candy instead of going through the trouble of buying or making a complex costume that you may have trouble walking in."
Danny chuckled. "Well, have fun then, Tucker."
"Thanks!" Tucker grinned. "Let's go, Kokuwamon!"
"I am right behind you, Tucker," Kokuwamon excitedly said as the two of them opened the door.
They were surprised to see Maddie and Jack standing there. Jack was wearing his hood and goggles, which was a rare sight.
"Mom? Dad? What are you two doing here?" Danny asked.
"Sorry about that, Danno, your mother and I wanted to check in on you kids to make sure everything's alright. Halloween is when the ghosts will be at their most active after all," Jack warned.
"Uh… right…" Danny said, sweat-dropping. Aw man… Why do Mom and Dad have to be out and about tonight of all nights?
"We'll be fine, Aunt Maddie, Uncle Jack." Takuya said, trying to reassure his aunt and uncle. "We're just here doing the haunted house rooms, for fun you know."
Andy was closing the curtains over his masterpiece, wanting to save that as a surprise for the kids when they come through the haunted room.
"Are you two going to be patrolling the house?" Andy asked. "You know we have our Digimon with us in case a ghost attacks, right?"
"Of course," Maddie said. "But you can never be too careful. And we won't stay in the house for long, we're going to patrol the town too."
"Really? All night?" Andy asked.
"Yes." Jack replied with a big smile. "Can't be too careful with those ghosts around!"
"Well, if you need me, Kokuwamon and I will be at another door every 38 seconds," Tucker said as he and Kokuwamon walked out of the room.
"Isn't he a little old to be Trick-Or-Treating?" Jack asked.
"You're never too old for free candy!" Tucker called back, somehow hearing that comment.
Jack blinked before shaking his head. "That boy's got an iron stomach, I tell you."
Danny sweatdropped. "Yeah… he does, given how much meat he can eat."
"In any case, you guys should get going before Mr. Lancer thinks you're helping us with this," Andy said, suddenly seeming to be eager to have his parents leave.
"Did Mr. Lancer say you weren't allowed to have us help you?" Maddie asked.
"No, but there's a chance we won't get any of the rewards if he thinks you guys are helping us, you know how strict teachers can be," Andy chuckled.
Jack grinned. "That's true. My teachers in my old high school were definitely strict."
Maddie sighed. "Okay, boys, have fun then. I'm sure Sam and Biyomon will keep an eye on things too."
"Of course we will," Sam chuckled.
"See you two later," Biyomon waved.
Jack and Maddie left the house, leaving the kids alone.
Andy closed the door and looked at the others. "This is our best chance, guys!"
"Huh? What is?" Takuya asked.
"Our parents are going to be out of the lab, and out of the house, for the entire night," Andy explained. "This is our best chance to check out this Fright Knight's lair and see if the fog is indeed coming from there."
"Oh yeah, your parents have been living in the basement lately, so it's been impossible to check out the Ghost Zone," Lopmon realized.
"I see!" Danny grinned. "Then we should take the chance and go investigate!"
Patamon frowned. "But what about the haunted room? Doesn't someone have to stay here to make sure no one messes with it? And weren't you going to wait until after Halloween?"
"Our parents might go back to the lab after Halloween," Danny pointed out. "And… well, maybe only one of us has to go check out that lair?"
"You're crazy if you think I'm going to let you investigate that place alone, Danny," Andy stated.
"Look, if it'll make you feel better, Biyomon and I can watch this place while you go investigate," Sam spoke up. "This is important after all."
Danny grinned. "Then I think that works."
"Hey, don't leave me out of that investigation." Takuya grinned.
"Are you sure you want to go into the Ghost Zone, Takuya? It would be difficult for you to use your Spirits in a place like the Ghost Zone," Patamon warned. "The dense amount of ectoplasm alone could severely weaken your fractal code."
"I have enough experience with ghosts at this point." Takuya replied. "Besides, most of the physical moves I use as Agunimon I can do as a human, so I can defend myself. And I have those Ghost Gloves too."
"I suppose. But I would suggest avoiding using your Beast Spirit at the very least," Patamon stated. "With how much power and data BurningGreymon uses, you won't last very long in the Ghost Zone with it. Just stick to using Agunimon."
"Don't worry. I don't feel that confident in my control if I go into the Ghost Zone." Takuya replied. "I'm not going to risk it."
"It'll be my first time going through the Ghost Zone as well," Patamon admitted. "I'm nervous about it myself."
"Don't worry, I'm sure it'll be fine," Danny assured.
"I'll stay here," Andy said. "It's best if there aren't too many of us going through the Ghost Zone to investigate. And someone has to be the host of this room, and it has to be one of us since Mr. Lancer assigned it to us. At least this way you and Takuya won't feel like you'll have to rush back here. Besides, unless I take the Specter Speeder, or you overshadow me, I wouldn't last very long in the Ghost Zone."
"We had to cover our mouths the last time we were in the Ghost Zone, and that was pretty stressful," Lopmon shivered.
"Well, I guess that's it." Danny grinned. "Takuya, Patamon, and I will be back once we know more about that fog and if the Fright Knight is behind it."
"Be careful… you don't know what you'll find out there," Sam said in concern.
"Oh, and here…" Andy took the medallion out of his pocket and handed it to Danny. "Keep this on you in case you run into that time ghost and it tries to stop time on you."
Danny nodded, taking the medallion. "Thanks, bro." He said with a smile.
Takuya looked at Danny and Patamon. "C'mon. We'd better get going while we still have the time."
Andy and Sam watched Danny, Patamon, and Takuya leave.
"Do you think they'll be okay?" Biyomon asked worriedly.
"I hope so…" Sam said quietly. "We've had too many close calls lately."
"I'm sure they'll be fine. After all, Danny and Patamon have ghost powers, and Takuya is a Legendary Warrior," Lopmon pointed out, hoping to reassure the others.
"I should at least send a text message to the other Legendary Warriors, to let them know what's been going on," Andy said.
"But… they're in Japan, right? And we're not in the Digital World, so… would they be able to read English?" Sam asked.
Andy stopped in the middle of his texting. "... Crap, you're right…"
Sam sighed. "We can wait until after Halloween then… Or at least until Takuya gets back."
"Probably should've thought of that before the only person who can speak, and write, Japanese went off to investigate," Lopmon sweatdropped.
"Hush…" Andy grumbled.
"So, uh… the whole ghosts being stronger and turning demonic thing… that was just a story, right?" Biyomon asked. "That's not like going to affect Danny once he goes into the Ghost Zone, is it?"
Andy rubbed his head. "You know, I'd very much like to drop that subject, please."
Sam sweatdropped. "We'll know for sure when Danny and Takuya get back I guess…"
Lopmon just tilted his head to the side cutely.
Takuya had heard about Patamon's strange transformation, but this was his first time seeing it with his own eyes. When Danny transformed into his ghost form, Patamon did as well. Danny picked up Takuya and flew him to Fenton Works, wanting to get there quickly.
Danny and Patamon phased through the house, and straight into the lab. Danny put Takuya down as they were facing the Ghost Portal.
"So, we just head in or do we use the Specter Speeder?" Takuya asked. "Um… and should I just put on a hazmat suit or Spirit Evolve?"
"It might be faster to just directly fly to the lair rather than taking the Specter Speeder," Danny replied. "But I don't know how the Ghost Zone will affect you after a while, even while Spirit Evolved."
"It seems Digimon can take being in the Ghost Zone far longer than a human can," Patamon stated. "According to Salamon, she and Valerie had been in the Ghost Zone for days. And Salamon didn't have any protection like Valerie did. But then again, Valerie had to purify her fractal code once in a while…"
"I'd rather take a chance and not be left defenseless." Takuya admitted. "Besides, if it comes down to it, I could fight back without worrying about losing a weapon." He took out his D-Tector as he said that. "I'll just use Agunimon's Spirit for this. I won't be wasting any energy that way, and it seems that's the form I have the best endurance in."
Danny sighed. "If you think that's best…"
Takuya held out his D-Tector and the blue digital form of his first Spirit appeared visible on the screen of his D-Tector as he formed the familiar fractal coding on his left hand. He swiped the D-Tector over the coding, calling out the familiar phrase he knew by heart. "Execute! Spirit Evolution!" His clothes ripped away as his body became digital, and the process began. Coding surrounded him as the power of the Spirit flowed into his body. Red armor formed and latched onto his body as his hair changed to blonde and became long and wild. His height increased, as did his strength and agility. His eyes snapped open, now a brilliant blue instead of brown, and his canine teeth were sharper than a human's as well. He landed, crying out his name. "Agunimon!"
Now evolved, Agunimon looked at the portal. "I guess it's now or never."
"We'll be next to you in case we gotta carry you," Danny said.
"We should go in first," Patamon said. "That way we'll be there in case Agunimon is unable to float on his own."
"Right… okay, let's go," Danny replied.
Danny and Patamon flew through the portal first. Agunimon took a step forward, taking a moment to take a deep breath and let it out. A part of him wondered if the other Legendary Warriors would ever have to go through the Ghost Zone themselves.
Shaking his head, Agunimon forced himself back on task. Now's not the time to get distracted! He scolded himself mentally before he made his way through the portal. Emerging on the other side of the portal, Agunimon was met with the eerie green surroundings of the Ghost Zone.
Glancing down, Agunimon paled when he saw there was no ground in front of him. Crap… If I'm not able to float… I'm pretty much dead…
Looking up, Agunimon saw Danny and Patamon waiting for him though so, he took in a shaky breath and let it out before he took a step forward before jumping out of the portal's opening.
Agunimon found himself floating in midair.
"Hey, look at that, you're actually flying as Agunimon! Something you've been wanting to do since you first Spirit Evolved," Danny chuckled.
"He's not really flying… more like floating," Patamon replied. "In order to fly, he'd have to be able to move in the air on his own."
"Oh yeah… have you been working on your fire jets?" Danny asked.
Agunimon blinked, remembering that little trick. "Not… as of recently, but… I guess there's no time like the present to see if it works here."
Agunimon took a moment to concentrate on his hands and feet. He always had trouble controlling himself in the air when he did this back in Amity Park, but he couldn't weigh Danny and Patamon down, he had to try this on his own. And while BurningGreymon could fly, Patamon told him not to use that form while in the Ghost Zone. So this was his best option.
Agunimon let out some flames onto his feet and started to wobble in the air a bit. Then he poured out more flames onto his feet, and he was suddenly blasting off.
Danny and Patamon saw him practically take off, and they quickly flew after him.
"Try spreading out the flames onto your hands!" Patamon called out. "It might help give you more balance!"
Thinking fast, Agunimon did just that, and to his surprise, he came to a sharp halt. "Whoa!" He gasped, trying to get over that rush. "I… I did it… I actually did it!"
Agunimon let out more flames in his excitement, making him nearly take off again. But he quickly reigned the flames back in. "Whoa, okay… just gotta keep the flames under control."
"Wow, Agunimon, who knew all you had to do was spread the flames out a bit?" Danny chuckled.
"Be glad I'm in such a good mood about being able to fly on my own." Agunimon retorted, but there was a big grin on his face, which made the retort lose all its bite.
"This might only work in the Ghost Zone though, because you're already floating," Patamon informed. "Agunimon isn't meant to fly on his own. So I wouldn't suggest trying it in the Digital World or the real world."
Agunimon frowned, but nodded. "Yeah… I guess that's why I had trouble with this trick in the human world."
"Well, we know it works here, so that's some good news." Danny grinned.
"Let's get moving." Patamon said. "We need to check out the Fright Knight's lair."
"Alright…" Danny said before he took out the map of the Ghost Zone he had been making. I hope the medallion stays safe in my pocket. Wearing it around my neck is just begging for it to be taken off.
"This way," Danny pointed out before he flew ahead.
Agunimon took a moment to figure out how to steer himself in the air, but he went after Danny and Patamon. The three of them flew deeper into the Ghost Zone.
Before long, they reached the area they were looking for. Danny looked up from his map, seeing the large, red castle. He had seen it before, but he never actually explored it. Something about the castle made him feel very uneasy.
"Are we sure about this?" Patamon asked, seeing the castle himself. "We don't know what's in that castle."
"Well, we won't know where that fog is coming from if we don't check this place out." Agunimon pointed out before looking back at the castle himself. Something about it set off his instincts to be on high alert. "But I do get where you're coming from. This place gives me the creeps…"
"Let's go in." Danny said. "But we can't drop our guard."
The three of them slowly floated into the castle and looked up to see a long spiraling staircase leading up.
"I wish we didn't need to do this… but desperate times call for desperate measures," Danny said.
"Perhaps we should fly directly up," Patamon said. "But I wonder… why would ghosts need a staircase?"
"Who knows?" Agunimon muttered. "Let's just get this investigation over with."
"I have a bad feeling about this." Danny frowned before they started flying up.
However, as they were flying, sharp axes suddenly came swinging down at them.
"Booby traps!" Danny yelled a warning.
Agunimon narrowed his eyes before he managed to dodge a few of the incoming blades. A few did hit his body, but his armor took the brunt of the blows instead. Danny and Patamon were flying around quickly, trying to avoid the axes themselves. While normally, normal weapons like axes… probably wouldn't be able to hurt ghosts, unless they were made by his parents, not that Danny ever tested it, he knew that since these weapons were made in the Ghost Zone, they could easily slice through him and Patamon.
"Starting to envy your armor!" Danny shouted over to Agunimon while dodging the axes.
"Focus!" Agunimon shot back, not wanting to get hit, or to have Danny and Patamon get hit as well.
"There's a door up ahead!" Patamon called out. "Quickly, get in there!"
Danny and Agunimon didn't hesitate to follow Patamon towards the door. When they got close, Patamon grabbed onto the door's handle and opened it up. Danny and Agunimon flipped into the door, and Patamon quickly followed, slamming the door behind him.
"Whew… we made it…" Danny sighed in relief.
"Ugh… That was a nasty surprise…" Agunimon muttered as he looked over his armor. "Didn't think we'd get that kind of a welcome."
"What kind of a welcome did you think we'd get then?" Patamon questioned. "Obviously we are intruders here."
"That last part was sarcasm." Agunimon grumbled before looking back up ahead of them. "We're in a long hallway, with only two doors… Why does this scream 'trap' to me?"
Danny frowned when he saw nothing but skeleton statues standing between the two walls, holding red pumpkins and spears.
"I wonder… Do you think these guys were soldiers in their life?" Danny questioned.
Suddenly, torches in the room lit up by themselves, lighting up more of the room. Spikes suddenly came out from the walls, and the walls began to close in on them.
"... Run, GO!" Danny shouted urgently.
The three of them ran as fast as they could to reach the other side.
"I knew this had to be a trap!" Agunimon grumbled as they ran.
"We're not going to make it!" Patamon shouted, seeing how far away the door was and how close the walls were getting them. "Danny! Can't we turn intangible!?"
"I-I don't know if that'll work!" Danny called back before something else occurred to him. "Wait! Ghosts may be vulnerable here, but…"
Danny looked at Agunimon. "Quick, turn back to human!"
Agunimon nodded, concentrating. It was difficult, but he was able to get the fractal code to surround him before his Digimon form dissipated. At least he was able to transform back this time, unlike before. Danny transformed back as well, and he grabbed Patamon. Danny tucked Patamon towards his chest and curled into a ball to protect him.
The walls closed shut. Danny rolled out of the wall, like he just went through it, and Takuya came out unscathed as well.
"Damn… That was close…" Takuya gasped, feeling his heart racing. "If I hadn't been able to release my Digimon form…" He shivered.
Danny quickly uncurled himself, and checked Patamon. "Are you okay, Patamon? I wasn't sure if Digimon would've been safe from the trap."
Patamon blinked as he looked over himself. "Y-yeah, I'm fine. Since your clothes and the medallion in your pocket phased through as well, I guess whatever you're touching also becomes… uh… 'intangible' here."
"Man, I'm glad you remembered humans can go through physical stuff in the Ghost Zone, Danny." Takuya said gratefully.
"Yeah… well, let's try not to spend too much time here as humans. This air can't be good for you," Danny pointed out.
"Right… but I think the Spirits are protecting me, I don't feel strained," Takuya stated.
"That's good," Patamon said in relief.
"Look," Danny pointed ahead.
There was a glowing green sword stuck in, what appears to be, a purple jack-o-lantern pumpkin. There were skeletons laying beside the sword and pumpkin.
"That's not the only thing worth looking at," Patamon said. "Look up there…"
Patamon pointed at what looked like a flight of stairs going up. At the top of the stairs, however, they saw a huge sarcophagus.
"I'm… getting a really bad feeling from that sarcophagus…" Takuya muttered, shivering. "And it's not just me… The… I think my Spirits are also agitated by that thing…"
Patamon's fur was puffing out as well. "Whatever's in that sarcophagus… it's evil… and powerful… we better keep away from it."
Danny nodded in agreement. "I feel it too… I agree… We keep far away from that thing."
Takuya looked around. "I… don't see any sign of where that fog could be coming from…"
"This place is creepy, but I agree…" Patamon frowned. "We… probably should've asked Andy how he knew the fog came from Skulker's lair…"
"Andy didn't say he knew about that, just that he defeated Skulker to save Valerie and Salamon from him. The fog thing was a coincidence," Danny explained.
"Then… do we have to defeat the Fright Knight for the fog to stop coming into the Digital World?" Takuya asked.
"Maybe… or maybe…" Danny paused before he took the medallion out from his pocket. "Maybe we need to use this thing to stop the fog. I mean… it looks like it's in the shape of a gear, right? So maybe it's supposed to fit somewhere."
"Then we better look for some place where we can put that medallion," Patamon said.
"Alright, let's look around the room. There doesn't appear to be any traps here," Danny suggested.
The three of them split up, with Danny looking by the doorway, Takuya looking on the opposite wall, and Patamon looking around the pumpkin and sword.
Takuya was poking around when he saw something. "Huh?" He looked at it closer. It looked like a skeleton hand, but it was holding some kind of ring. "What the heck?"
There was a ball of ecto energy surrounding the ring, likely to protect it. Takuya could sense some kind of ghostly energy coming from the ring. He felt a familiar feeling coming from the ring. It reminded him of that feeling he got when he was about to lose himself to BurningGreymon's rage.
"Hey… Danny, Patamon? I think I found something you should see!" Takuya called out to the other two.
Danny and Patamon hurried to to Takuya.
"What is-" Danny stopped when he saw the thing Takuya wanted them to see. "-that?"
"It looks like a ring," Patamon noted as he flew up to the protective ecto bubble around the ring. "It's not a normal ring, that's for sure. There's some dark ghostly energy inside it."
"Yeah… and it reminds me of when I would lose control of BurningGreymon." Takuya replied. "It's… very familiar, but also foreign."
"The ring?" Danny blinked. "So like… it's fiery?"
"More like when I'm about to lose control rather than my element," Takuya specified.
"Lose control? Like when you got angry?" Danny blinked. "Primal instincts?"
"Rage," Patamon spoke up. "He's talking about rage. I think that's what this ring embodies, the rage of ghosts, or whoever wielded it last."
Danny frowned. "Then… it's some kind of Ring of Rage? That's… an ominous name…"
"Well, I don't know if that's the name for it, just that… it makes sense what Takuya just described," Patamon said before turning to Danny and Takuya. "We better leave that there. I don't think the ring has anything to do with the fog. If it did, then Digimon would be going on a rampage in the Digital World, not being frozen in time."
Takuya and Danny nodded.
"So that ring isn't responsible, that's good to know." Takuya said. "But… then where is the fog coming from? Is it even coming from this place?"
"Well…" Danny frowned as he looked at the medallion once more. "Maybe not. The medallion kinda doesn't fit with this place, looking at it. This place is all red, and spooky. The medallion looks more like it's a futuristic tech."
"Well, if we're sure the fog isn't coming from here, we should leave," Patamon suggested.
"But are we absolutely sure?" Takuya asked.
"There's nothing here that resembles time at all," Patamon pointed out.
"What about that sword?" Danny asked. "I'm pretty sure that pumpkin would've gone rotten a long time ago, even if it's a ghost pumpkin. Maybe whatever that sword touches, time stops for the object?"
"That's true…" Takuya admitted. "I… just have a feeling this may end badly…"
"Well, we won't know until we exhaust all options and leads." Danny replied.
"So… how do you plan to tell if that sword is indeed the object that's creating the fog?" Patamon asked.
"Well… I guess the easiest way to find out is to touch it and see if it freezes me," Danny said. "Or… uh… maybe I'm supposed to pull it out of the pumpkin while wearing the medallion?"
Takuya rubbed his neck nervously. "Are you sure?"
"It's worth a shot. The worst that can happen is if the pumpkin suddenly goes rotten and spews out a bunch of pumpkin goo on us," Danny replied.
Takuya grimaced. "Yuck!"
"It's not worse than getting gooped by ectoplasm." Danny pointed out.
"Just get it over with." Takuya grumbled. "But I'm staying far away from that pumpkin."
Patamon looked over at Danny. He wasn't sure about this either, but he had a duty to protect the Digital World. Whatever the consequences may be, he needed to make sure he did everything he could to stop that fog from destroying the Digital World.
"Do it then," Patamon said with conviction.
Danny nodded before he put the medallion into his pocket. "Here goes everything…"
Danny walked up to the sword and grabbed it, slowly pulling it out from the pumpkin that it sat in. The sword came free, but the pumpkin didn't rot away. Danny stumbled back with the sword, but he regained his balance. "Huh… I'm fine…"
"But do you think it worked?" Patamon asked.
"Look out!" Takuya suddenly shouted a warning.
The skeletons that had been lying lifelessly on the ground suddenly came to 'life'. They stood up, and were a lot taller than they looked on the ground.
"We may have woken something up…" Danny gulped.
Danny quickly transformed into his ghost form, transforming Patamon as well.
Takuya managed to form his fractal code and Spirit Evolve into Agunimon. The process was actually faster, because the Spirit of Agunimon wanted to protect Takuya.
"Looks like we're in for a fight." Agunimon muttered as he got into a fighting stance.
The skeletons, however, didn't attack. Instead, they were crouching onto their legs, and bowed down their heads.
"Why are they bowing?" Danny asked.
Patamon quickly turned around. "Look behind you."
The pumpkin suddenly exploded with green mist and lightning. Bats came flying out, and where the pumpkin once stood, now stood a tall knight, wearing black armor. And had a purple flaming cape, as well a purple flaming fire on its helmet. The entire face of the knight was covered by the helmet, they were only able to see the glowing green eyes.
'Shit…" Agunimon muttered, feeling his face growing pale. "We may be in over our heads… This ghost… it's strong …"
Danny looked a bit uneasy as well. "I think… we woke up the owner of this sword…"
"So… that must be the Fright Knight from Sam's book," Patamon noted, narrowing his eyes. "He certainly looks a lot like the knight in the picture."
"Who hasth pulled my sword from my prison?" The knight asked before he saw Danny holding it in his hands. "You… returnist to me what is rightfully mine."
Danny frowned, he didn't know what would happen if he gave the sword, the… 'Soul Shredder' he remembered seeing the name of the sword in the book… he didn't know what would happen if he gave the Soul Shredder back to its original owner. Heck, he didn't even know why the Fright Knight, the supposed spirit of Halloween, was imprisoned in the first place.
"What do you plan to do with it?" Danny asked.
"I will begin my reign of terror anew!" The Fright Knight stated loudly.
"Okay, um… I think the 'reign of terror' is kind of a deal breaker…" Danny frowned.
"I need my sword to do what I need to do. No longer am I under the tyrant's control, this is my duty, child," The Fright Knight stated. "Today… yes… I feel it, today is indeed Halloween. I have longed for this feeling. But it is not right, the true spirit of Halloween has been severely watered down. I must go and right this wrong. Child, giveth back my Soul Shredder."
Danny looked unsure still. "I… Don't know…"
Agunimon was getting a bad feeling in his gut about this. "I wouldn't do it, Danny…"
"But doesn't this Soul Shredder belong to him?" Danny asked. "Isn't it wrong of us to just take it away?"
"But if you give it to him, who knows what he's going to do with it," Agunimon replied. "For all we know, he was imprisoned to stop terrorizing people."
"Foolish creature of data. Terrorizing people is why I exist!" The Fright Knight growled. "If I must taketh back my sword by force, I will do just that."
The Fight Knight lifted up his hands suddenly, and created a large vortex of energy. The energy released ecto-lightning. Agunimon, Danny, and Patamon all yelped as they were now trying to dodge the lightning. Several green pumpkins fell from the vortex, the pumpkins had angry looking faces. The pumpkins started chomping after the 3.
"Aw, c'mon!" Danny whined as he ran. "This is not how I expected to spend my Halloween!"
Agunimon turned and put up his shield to ward off the chomping pumpkins. "Plasma Sphere!"
The pumpkins that touched Agunimon's sphere suddenly turned into pumpkin goop and melted off of the sphere. Agunimon blinked before he dissipated his sphere. He was a little confused. One of the pumpkins jumped and bit his arm, but… it didn't hurt, not at all. Instead, it just felt slimy and wet.
Danny and Patamon tried to fight back by firing their ghost ray and Ecto Bubble. The Fright Knight easily dodged their attacks.
"What… happened?" Agunimon wondered as he looked at where he had been bit by that pumpkin.
The pumpkins that tried to bite him… felt like they were just licking him instead. He looked up at the vortex the Fright Knight summoned. The lightning flashed, but never actually hit them.
"How doeth you like that?" The Fright Knight said before he picked up another pumpkin and threw it to the ground.
A large, black horse wearing armor, with green flaming mane and tail, and large bat-like wings, emerged from the pumpkin.
"But I must goeth soon before the night ends," The Fright Knight stated before he reached out his hand at Danny. "Play time is over, child."
The Soul Shredder in Danny's hand suddenly had a force pulling it. Danny yelped as he tried to hang on to the sword, but it soon flew out of his grasp and into the Fright Knight's.
"H-hey!" Danny yelped. He tried to fly after the sword, but a bunch of pumpkins landed on Danny. "Wah!"
"Have fun with the pumpkins, but thou should leave soon, for the castle is not safe for playing," Fright Knight warned before he hopped onto the horse's back. "Go forth, Nightmare! We haveth been gone for too long!"
The horse called 'Nightmare' gave a loud neigh before it flew up and out of the castle.
Patamon looked down at the pumpkins that were 'eating' Danny. But Danny didn't feel any pain. In fact, it felt like the pumpkins were only gumming at him.
"I think you're okay, Danny," Patamon said.
Danny blinked. "Wait… really?" He looked at the pumpkins. Sure enough, they were only biting… playfully?
"Guys, these pumpkins, I don't think they're meant to hurt us," Agunimon said as he approached Danny and Patamon. "Or the lightning for that matter."
"It was just for show," Patamon realized. "Like Andy said, you can make anything scary with the right presentation."
Danny looked back at the chewing, gnawing, pumpkins. Now that he got a good look… "Is it me, or do these guys look… kinda cute?"
"The skeletons look like they haven't moved an inch either," Agunimon noted.
"Maybe the Fright Knight isn't such a bad guy after all," Danny said. "He probably hammed up his act after being imprisoned for so long. What he said earlier, about not staying here for too long… it sounded like he was concerned about us being here."
"Yeah… I noticed that too…" Agunimon frowned. "I… think we need to get back. It's clear the fog isn't coming from here."
"And we don't know what the Fright Knight intends to do with that Soul Shredder. He may not have meant any harm to us, but that doesn't mean he's not dangerous," Patamon pointed out. "Why was he imprisoned? And what does he want to do to bring the spirit of Halloween back? That could potentially put people in danger."
"Patamon's right. The Fright Knight spoke in old English, so what he did before may have been okay back then, but it might not be so good in the modern world," Danny realized. "Can you still use your flames to fly, Agunimon?"
Agunimon nodded. "Yeah, I can." He replied. "I wasn't even hurt." He then looked at one of the chewing pumpkins. "They just slimed up my armor."
Danny snickered. "I told you the worst thing that could happen was getting hit by pumpkin goop."
Agunimon just rolled his eyes. "Yes, you did." He muttered. "Now let's get out of here."
The three of them quickly began flying away from the castle. Patamon looked back at the castle as they were flying. As a Celestial Digimon, he sometimes had visions of the future, like Andy did. He recognized the castle from some of the visions he had. This would not be the last time they would see that castle. He just hoped that it wouldn't be the last thing they see in the future.
Titanic X: ZAFT: You may be right, you may be not~ X3 Glad you liked the chapter!
Son Sandy: ZAFT: First off, I would like to compliment you on your English. For someone who speaks another language primarily, your English skills are very good.
DarkFoxKit: You like the idea of Andy being turned half-ghost in a different way? Well, I suppose we could try bringing back that idea. We haven't fully decided on what we wanna do with Andy's future, if he'll be half-ghost, if he'll stay human, or if he does become half-ghost what kind he'll be and how he'll be one. There's a lot of planning we need to do there.
ZAFT: But rest assured, we're sure you'll like what we do with Andy either way. XD And I'm so glad you're so fond of Andy! XD Yeah, the poor boy is so hard on himself, it's kinda sad but oh so fun to write out~! XD
DarkFoxKit: Andy is a character I put a lot of time and love into. He's almost become his own entity at this point. There's been fan drawings of him, some fans even used him in their own fanfiction, and there's even a small ongoing fan comic of him. I'm very happy and proud that Andy's sticking in a lot of people's minds, it shows I did a great job with him.
ZAFT: And I am honored to help include Andy in my own stories! That's how much I liked him! XD
DarkFoxKit: As for if I plan to give Andy his own suit, if we are talking hypothetically if we give him his own ghost half, that depends on what kind of ghost form Andy will have. He may or may not have a suit like Danny's, he might have something else. Though he does still have his hazmat suit, the original one he and Danny already had before the accident.
ZAFT: We'll see what we can come up with, but other than that, I can't say anymore without going into spoilers… ^^' As for Lopmon not getting his memories back, that's actually a good theory you have there. XD I never thought about Andy's denial being a cause for that.
DarkFoxKit: The Digimon partners admittedly have been more inspired by Digimon Survive, so that theory is perhaps the most logical one. Though if you read My Brother's a Ghost, admittedly this is definitely the happier outcome for Andy. He found out about Danny's secret much earlier than he did in the original story I wrote, and he was actually friends with Danny's ghost half before finding out, easing Andy into the whole idea that ghosts aren't all evil like his parents said they were. Andy kinda has a bit of a 'manager' role between his brother and cousin, both being able to transform into powerful beings, while Andy is still just human but is also helping them both train their powers.
ZAFT: Hmmm… That is a good question about someone wanting Andy as their successor/apprentice. We never considered that before.
DarkFoxKit: Admittedly, when I made Andy, the idea was that he was supposed to watch Danny's story unfold as an 'outsider'. So characters not having interest in Andy because he's ordinary was the point. But… considering how much has changed since I first created Andy, you bring up a good point. Freakshow even mentioned how Andy was a 'mastermind' due how often he was shocking Freakshow with his planning and how far he was willing to go to save his family.
ZAFT: If we do do that, we'd have to talk a bunch about it, but it is something to consider down the road. XD And it's fine if you don't comment too much due to life and stuff. When you do comment, we appreciate it.
DarkFoxKit: And no need to apologize about having grammatical errors. Even as an English writer, I have a lot of those myself. And we've had reviewers who were so bad with their grammatical errors, we had to spend a lot of time trying to decode what they were saying. So you're not bad by any means, you're easy to understand and we enjoyed answering your questions and theories.
pokemon fan 1991: ZAFT: Thanks! And the prank was pretty good! XD I got a kick out of that myself. XD
DarkFoxKit: I think Takuya also just wasn't thinking when he turned into his Beast Form. There was a good chance the Amity Park gang would've attacked him immediately instead of scattering around to hide.
ZAFT: Not that he thinks that often… XD
DarkFoxKit: That's why he has Andy, who tends to overthink things, and Tommy, who kinda does the same. As for Jack and Maddie, we wanted to give them more of a role in the story. They'll be more involved, and we felt they had a lot of potential to help Danny if they knew his secret before the series came to an abrupt end. We're trying to build it up, of course, starting with them getting their own Digimon partners, and accepting them. Showing them that not all non-human entities are evil and out to get them, that's the first step in helping them realize and accept that not all ghosts are evil.
ZAFT: And a big reveal comes at the end. This reveal will also help them learn to accept Danny and all ghosts are not evil as well~
DarkFoxKit: Andy is also determined to find a way to get his parents to accept his brother's other half. He knows things will get really ugly if they don't, and they continue building up their beliefs that ghosts are evil, especially Danny Phantom. Something that he may or may not get to see happen at some point with shenanigans that I can't go into detail about because of spoilers.
ZAFT: As for the time ghost hint, glad you liked it! And as for the GiW in this… we'll see what we can do with that down the road. XD
DarkFoxKit: We also wanted to sync the time zone between the Digital World and the real world to keep things easier for us to keep track of. And we figured that would be a good way to do it while keeping with the lore of the story. As for the Guys in White being like DATS or Hypnos, that's a good point, though they'd be more like Hypnos since DATS at least also used Digimon to catch other Digimon. Hypnos just wanted to get rid of all Digimon, like the Guys in White wanting to get rid of all ghosts.
