Chapter 25; Rest Stop
Todoroki slowly walked up behind Silver, trying to calm him down, "We have strawberries at the dorm if you didn't eat them all already. You like those right?" As his hand touched Silver, again the teen attacked.
Everyone slowly joined, trying to convince him to calm down. But slowly Silver just got more fighty, and there was obvious fear written all over him. Izuku began to notice sloppy movements and weird gestures during Silver's attacks, it was weird. Though they were not heard and Silver seemed distant, they didn't take his fighting personally. Yaoyorozu quickly told everyone to back off, if they continued to make him feel threatened Silver could hurt someone really bad. Yet, even when they backed off, he still seemed to fight.
"Silver!" Izuku yelped as he dodged a kick, "We aren't even close to you anymore!" Another swift kick brushed Izuku's face, "You need to clean your boots…"
"OUCH!" Jirou shouted as the defensive psychic tossed a knife of energy at her, "What the heck!" Bakugo growled as he stomped over to pick off the wooden blocks left beside the earlier-mentioned paint cans and throw them at Silver's head.
Silver staggered back, his attacks temporarily halting. Izuku grimaced as the explosive wear-pomeranian threw wooden block after wooden block at Silver's head. Not lightly either, with absolute full force. If the psychic hero didn't have a concussion already, he had one now. And to add insult to injury, Bakugo's aim was so good he hit the same spot smack dab in the middle of Silver's head nine times outta ten. After the human rifle ran out of ammo, Silver was knocked to the ground with a huge head injury.
Deku panicked, shrieking at Bakugo in worry for killing his best friend when Silver slowly began to stagger up. Ashido screamed as Silver slowly stood up again, one of the many wooden blocks pierced his head causing it to bleed. The once amber orbs full of light were crimson and dull with a loss of life. Izuku froze with horror, his mind racing to try and begin to understand what was happening. But it only lasted a few moments before Silver was knocked back onto the floor. Everyone stared silently in shock as a rather large and heavy random leather boot was thrown at Silver and he fell onto the floor again with a thud.
The class slowly turned to see the hero/coprit of the final attack, "…what? I thought that's how we were fixing Silver…" Kaminari said sheepishly with all eyes on him, "It worked right?"
"I think…" Todoroki stared at his classmate at his feet, "…he's unconscious." Looking at Silver proved thankfully he wouldn't be fighting anymore for a while, he was unconscious.
And…if Silver was possessed, which Izuku was in denial about, no ghost or demon would want all the pain they had just given their friend. So…hypothetically if Silver was possessed then Izuku was 100% sure it left. (A\N: Kids…don't do this irl. If someone you know in real life is possessed, don't throw blocks at them. Or boots. That doesn't work, please call a priest or something to remove the demon properly. This is Fanfiction…though I try to make this as realistic as possible…I made this up for funnies. Throwing blocks and shoes/boots at demons doesn't make them go away. I feel like I shouldn't have to tell you guys this but just in case.)
Izuku sighs with worry and relief, hesitantly stepping forward when Silver doesn't move, the trainee continues. After a few nervous steps, and a lot of slow caution, Izuku knelt beside his injured friend. Silver looked somewhat peaceful on the wooden floors of the abandoned building, besides having fallen in a highly uncomfortable position and having a 40-year-old or so wooden block wedged in his forehead. The first thing the young hero did was check how deeply the block impaled Silver's head. Thankfully, it was just enough to pierce the skin and to stay lightly in place. It would be a pain later on but at least the hedgehog in question wouldn't die from it. After sacrificing a piece of his costume cape, Izuku took the block and tossed it lightly away from his injured friend. He quickly applied his makeshift bandage and tied it around Silver's head. After securing the bandage, Izuku gently moved Silver's limp limbs into a more comfortable position…and to ensure blood flow to the poor ivory teen's entire body.
"I think he'll be ok?" Midoriya said, unsure how to treat Silver any further, "I mean…I don't know much about how to heal someone but at least I know how to deal with bleeding…" Izuku softly sat down, crossing his legs, and slid Silver into his lap, "If he has a concussion I…don't know what to do…does anyone else here know first aid?" The emerald teen asked slightly worried…they hadn't been taught much on the subject of how to help injured people. He was no help, the words of the HUC actor from his provisional licensing exam kept playing in his mind. 'Your lack of training is grossly obvious!'
As much as Deku was determined, he was also worried…this wasn't an act and he only knew how to help his friend a little, "There isn't much we can do for a concussion." Momo quickly stepped forward, providing more bandages with her quirk, "But if he does have a concussion then I know what to do." She assured the worried class, helping apply the bandages to Silver's head, "He will need to rest, a lot. And if he has a concussion it assures he can't do much, he can't strain himself physically or mentally…" She backed away after fixing the bandages.
"Ah…crap…" Ururaka muttered softly, "Well he'll be ok though right? Even if he can't do much we can still get him out of here alive…right? He won't die due to blocks…right?" The worried freshman questioned, biting her nails slightly with her nervousness about her friend dying due to such an odd thing. Tsu quickly nudged Uraraka, showing her disapproval of the worried zombie's nail-biting.
The mummy shook her head, "No, there is a low chance Silver will die because of the blocks or a concussion. It's not said to not prepare for if things go south, the chance is low but never zero." Momo said with an attempt to ease Ururaka's nerves…yet it didn't hope as much as Yoayarozu thought it would.
"O-Oh…"
Was the only reply from the zero gravity trainee. Izuku softly tapped Silver's forehead with no response from the Hedgie-boy below. "Well…What time is it…?"
"It's roughly about 3:00 am if I were to give a guess." Iida proposed with everyone nodding in agreement…only 6 hours left of this…unless they broke out.
They had already broken a law to trespass onto this land, so why not just demolish it and escape safely? Midoriya stared at his sleeping friend as he thought. Trespassing wasn't too big of a crime…I mean they could easily get out without anyone knowing they were in here in the first place. Yet…Vandalism was totally different. Izuku wasn't trying to taint his reputation with crimes because of Halloween. Staring at his unconscious friend though…All Might's prodigy was fairly close to being desperate enough. He didn't want anyone being hurt more than they already were…
Deku slowly slid the psychic onto his lap, "What now…?"
Ugh…pain…this was starting to get annoying at this point. Gosh, how many times did he need to wake up to the sheer pain as if he had been run over by a train? Every muscle screamed in his body, his joints all wined uncomfortably, and every single bone cried. Every part of him hurt, where was Recovery Girl when you needed her…? Silver's brows knit together in groggy pain, he was somewhat conscious but couldn't bring himself to open his eyes. The migraine was probably the worst part of it all, it felt like someone shoved the psychic's head into a hydraulic press 50 times and then ran his head over with a semi-truck. The only things that didn't hurt were his mouth and throat which relieved him somewhat. However, it didn't make up for the fact that his body was screaming in places he didn't even know existed…let alone feel such pain.
Silver writhed in his body mentally, he wanted to shed his body or something! He let out a pained sigh through his nose. Despite all this pain, he was still yearning for the unconsciousness he had regretfully woken from. As the seconds passed, the more he woke up. Was he…moving? Silver began to notice that though his body was in pain, it was mostly limp and softly swaying. He was slightly bent over and the groggy trainee's mind quickly tried to place the puzzle pieces together. The more he thought, the more the sleep he desperately craved slipped away and reality set in. He could hear voices but it took a moment to register they were his classmates. Reluctantly, Silver's amber eyes opened in a dazed confusion.
He was moving. Silver glanced around, he was hung over someone's shoulder. The dimly lit lanterns made the soft marble floor below glow a soft hue of orange in reflection. His arms dangled in front of him and Silver slowly put the pieces together. Wait! Honey eyes widened in shock and Silver jerked up a little with the realization. He wasn't in the void anymore! He was with his friends! Chaos! Silver moved his hands a little, his hand's reaction sent a happy wave of relief through him. No resistance, no void, no creepy demons, safe with his class. Everything was ok! Despite the fact, his body was still in major pain. Man, Silver was still missing a lot of stuff…
"Oh, you're awake?" Izuku's voice happily rang into Silver's ear, "Do you…feel better?" Silver lifted his head a little, his eyes locked with Midoriya. Pure relief washed over the young prodigy of All Might. "You look a lot better."
Silver was still reeling in thought trying to understand what happened, "I feel like I was hit by 20 planes…" Silver muttered painfully, allowing himself to go limp again on his friend's shoulder. Izuku immediately got worried and asked Yoayarozu for some help, "...what…happened…exactly?" Silver looked up at his friend in soft confusion while Izuku continued to walk.
Now Silver could see a bit better, Izuku had strapped Silver onto his back like Deku did when fighting Overhaul with Eri. His head was wrapped in bandages and smaller bandages wound around his arms and legs. The class was walking down a dark hallway, all sticking close with only a few lanterns. Ashido held a small sack and Kirishima held several unlit lanterns the class had used earlier. When hearing the news that Silver was awake the class happily bustled in whispers, asking how Silver was feeling and such. The hedgie boy in question slightly blushed in embarrassment with all the kind attention. His ears drooped to the sides of his head with a flustered smile. It was kinda nice to know they all cared about him…but he didn't want them to worry.
Quickly, Silver changed the subject back to his question, knowing what happened would be a lot more helpful in deciding if he was ok or not, "You…don't remember?" Iida asked with a soft frown as he walked, only throwing a slightly concerned glance at Silver as he did so, "I suppose that makes sense. It makes a lot of sense. It explains why you were so, uh…off."
"Well…I mean…I was mostly unconscious but I remember something…" Silver continued to dangle slightly with his hands swaying with Izuku's steps, "Though…I think it was more of a dream…I just want to be sure though…" Iida glanced back at Silver again and nodded, seeming to respect Silver's question.
The devil of the class spoke up, "Oh mon ami(my friend)! It iz tragic! After you muttered something about the ghost, you screamed like a demon!" Aoyama spoke dramatically, waving his magician's cape and acting like a damsel in distress, "You even denied Todoroki's wonderful offer of strawberries and attacked him!" Aoyama exasperated the ordeal and Silver couldn't help but flatly glare.
He wasn't going to believe a word Aoyama said unless someone else, someone trustworthy, backed him up… "Yeah…" Ochako nodded softled with worry as she spoke, softly poking her cheek, "I think you were possessed or something…it was kinda…unnerving. Especially the fact you don't remember that…" Silver broke his glare from the sparkly magician and worriedly frowned into the chocolate eyes of Uraraka, "You kinda attacked us…but not in your normal fight style. It was weird, your eyes also had kind of a white film." Silver continued to sway while Izuku walked, taking in the information seriously.
It all seemed to be in line with that 'dream' he had. Was it a trance or some sorta hallucination…? That attack…they must have been the mysterious figures on the 'screen'. It all seemed to line up, but what…why did Silver see such a different scene? He hadn't exactly had such a thing happen when Mephlies possessed him…was it because that masked ghost was dead? Or…something else? Silver groaned and closed his eyes, he was in too much pain to think about confusing complex things. He allowed his screaming body to relax on his friend again, the pained and frustrated costumed psychic exhaled loudly.
"Feeling bad?" Sero asked, most of the class facing forwards again as they trekked through the worn halls, "I mean I'd probably feel bad too if Bakugo shot like 7 blocks at my head like a freaking revolver. Shk, shk, shk, shk, shk, shk, shk!" Sero laughed a little pretending he was shooting a gun while making the sound effects, "Yoayamomo says you'll probably be out of the game for a while with that head injury," Such a nonchalant tone carried through Sero's voice as he walked while Silver…grew seriously concerned.
"What…?"
Izuku shifted Silver on his back a little, "Yeah…that's how Kacchan decided to get the demon out…he threw blocks at your head and Kaminari threw a boot, which I don't know where he even found that…at your head and knocked you unconscious." Silver's alarm skyrocketed, his hedgie ears perking up with his concern as Izuku tightened the straps keeping Silver safely on his back, "A painful method to say the least…it was a messier situation and resolve than it should have been…" The emerald hero reluctantly admitted while Silver gently raised his hand to touch it.
No wonder he had bandages on his head. Silver winced harshly upon putting soft contact with his injury. "Ow…" The costumed high schooler frowned with puffed cheeks, trying to understand what was going on, "Ok…wait…wait no." Silver looked at his class as they walked in a group, "No I'm fine, I mean fine enough that if a problem-"
"No," Iida quickly cut Silver off harshly, "I understand you don't want to let us down or be put on the sidelines if a problem arises but Silver, that injury is severe." The injured teen in question took a breath to prove Iida he was fine, "If you can walk then we will allow you to lie and say your fine and all that." The class president was on point and Silver squinted as his gears turned…then the psychic closed his mouth.
It wasn't worth fighting over it, especially since his entire class wasn't going to let him do anything because of the injury. Also the fact Iida made a strong point, Silver didn't trust his legs to support him. Even if they did he was too dizzy for that…again that helpless useless feeling clawed at his chest. Sure Silver did kinda need to rest but he felt too…restless? Was that the word? The ivory teen wasn't sure…none the less he sighed and allowed his friend to carry him without further complaint. Izuku said something about how "No worries, just rest" and "You're pretty light anyways, I'll carry you as much as I need too. Pretty sure I can still run too." or something along those lines. Silver understood the positive intentions but didn't respond, Iida was right, he wasn't fine at all. In fact, he was half ready to pull out his screaming nerves just to stop some of the pain.
Everyone walked in awkward silence again. No one spoke as they collectively walked, their footsteps and the clinking of lanterns echoing softly in the halls. The occasional sigh passed Bakugo's lips, he was the most oddly quiet. Perhaps he was too sleepy to be mean or loud. Luckily Izuku, Yoayarozu, Tokoyami, Sato, Koda, and Jiruo seemed sharp-eyed and highly alert. Silver assumed the adrenaline was the only thing keeping anyone awake at all…some more than others. He wasn't sure what to do, nor where they were in the house. Well…what could he do to help? Silver got an idea, a mental map! Yeah, that's what kinda caused the whole demon thing in the first place but Silver wanted to help somehow.
As he attempted it, the hedgie-boy flinched harshly and hissed softly, maaaaaaan that hurt, "Silver, when I said 'Don't do anything and rest because of your head injury'," Iida turned around, chopping the air as he scolded his classmate, "That includes your quirk. First and foremost actually. No quirk usage for you, not for a day or two." Silver huffed, reaching for his head only to get a cruel reminder that it hurt more so to touch his head, "If anything I'm sure your quirk will make your concussion worse. Medical books say deep thoughts or mental strain in any way will make it worse, your quirk relies on both factors to a new level so don't even think about trying to use your quirk. You're banned from it for," Iida hesitated a moment, trying to think of a time limit for the bare minimum as Silver pulled his hand away from his head, "..ehm, for at least until we have safely gotten out of this house. I recommend you sleep as much as you can, that's the only healing solution we have for you right now. I apologize."
Silver awkwardly tried to hold his head without actually touching it, softly clawing the air in pain, "Y-Yeah…" He strained to reply, intensely regretting even attempting the usage of his quirk, "I agree…"
Again the class went quiet, slowly trudging along the dark corridor. Silver allowed his body to relax as they walked, closing his eyes to rest. He focused on the rhythmic steps and the sway of his arms. A soft exhale was let out as he focused more on the soothing rhythm. Izuku walked at an even pace making the steps a little more lulling. The psychic tried to focus more on the gentle stuff to distract the pain ringing through his body. Silver twitched his ear a little as they turned a corner, everything felt a little softer. He wasn't exactly asleep but he did feel himself recharging. Time slipped by as he rested, each turn or hop barely getting noticed as he recharged in a half-sleeping state. He could hear the conversation yet it fell on deaf ears. Silver just let it all slide past him as his mind roamed to a meaningless and thoughtless place, his body still screamed but it seemed dull or further away.
It only felt as if he rested for a few moments, as if time warped past him while he rested and he began to wonder if he had fallen asleep, "Where is Hagakure?" Those words cut through him as clear as day, jolting Silver into a fully alert state.
Izuku glanced around, "What do you mean Kirishima?" The injured teen on Deku's back scanned around for the skeleton classmate, wasn't she just by Ojiro? "Isn't she by Ojiro?" …was Izuku sure he didn't have some sorta mind-reading ability-? Sometimes it was just eerie how similar they thought… "Oh…wait then where is she?!" Izuku's eyes widened when realizing Hagakure wasn't in the group anymore.
That made everyone echo in alarm, glancing around and slightly splitting into a loose group, "Everyone! Calm down and STICK TOGETHER!" Iida quickly began shoving everyone back into the tight-knit group, shoving Izuku into the group again, "We can not separate for any given reason! We shall search for Hagakure together!" Iida shoved Ashido back into the group, causing the acidic hero to bump into Silver who hissed at the painful contact, "Silver, stop hissing," Iida sharply ordered, keeping on top of all the chaos around him, "Tokoyami, keep Dark Shadow in. Kirishima, we must give a lantern to Tokoyami." Tokoyami quickly took the lantern and held it close, sighing thankfully as the lantern light subsided Dark Shadow, "Ok, we need to keep a head count."
As the class president took headcount, Silver did as well. 'One, two, three, four…' Silver thought, scanning the group and counting everyone as he went, 'fifteen, sixteen, seventeen..seventeen?' Silver's brow furrowed as he landed with the number 17. He included himself right…? He again recounted. 17. There should have been 20 with himself if Hagakure was gone, so who were the missing 3? Hagakure was missing…that was established…Izuku was here, so was Iida, Kirishima and Tokoyami as well…Ashido, Kaminari, Momo, Sero…Todoroki, Bakugo… hmm. Silver squinted, running the names of his classmates through his head, Mineta…Shoji…Kota…where were they? His class had seemed to think in sync to Silver, all noticing their group was slowly shrinking. This…wasn't a good sign. Silver was kinda thankful he was tied to his best friend's back, if something did happen at least Izuku wouldn't be alone. Silver was quite ashamed to admit he was pretty vulnerable at the moment…but his guard was up. Something was off. He was probably going to have to ignore Iida's ban on Telekinesis…
"Hagakure, Shoji, Kota, and Mineta have all gone missing." Iida started with a wave of his hand, "This isn't a coincidence…everyone hold hands!" The class president quickly ordered and the students were quick to follow. Silver simply tightened the binding holding himself to his friend's back. As everyone linked together into a tight chain, Kaminari practically clung to Jirou.
