Disclaimer: I do not own Star Wars Rebels. If I did, the Ezra and Sabine scenes in Ahsoka wouldn't have gone the way they had.

Ezra laid on his bunk with his arm over his eyes. Maybe if they thought he was asleep, he wouldn't have to do the supply run. Ezra heard Zeb's heavy footsteps as he entered the room.

"Aw, kid's asleep. Guess you'll have to go by yourself, Sabine."

Oh, thank the Force. It worked! Ezra thought.

Ezra heard Sabine scoff. "Yeah right, he's not asleep."

Ezra cried out when he was yanked from his bunk and fell onto the floor. "Sabine." Ezra growled, sitting up and rubbing the back of his head. "What'd you do that for?!" The Mandalorian merely raised an eyebrow at him, then with a loud sigh, turned and left the room.

"Heard you tried to get out of the supply run."

Ezra resisted the urge to roll his eyes as he entered the gallery. "Here's a tip," Kanan said, leaning forward and holding his cup of caf in both hands. "Next time, if you're dragged onto the floor, act surprised and confused. Or just don't open your eyes." He sat back and Ezra glared at the holo-table. "Yeah, thanks Kanan." "Happy to help."

Ezra stared at him curiously. "You tried that on Hera once, didn't you?" "Mhm." He smiled, of course he had. "Did it work?" "Nope." Ezra chuckled, or course it hadn't. "Ezra had to clean the hull of the Ghost for a month for attempting to lie to her."

Ezra chuckled to himself as he headed to the Ghost' ramp. Sabine was waiting at the bottom, arms crossed. "Hurry up, Ezra. While the day's still young." Ezra rolled his eyes and purposely walked slower. Sabine glared at him, hand reaching for her blaster, Ezra decided to pick up the pace.

"Hey. If you shoot me, then you'll have to do the supply run alone." Ezra teased, elbowing Sabine gently. She rolled her eyes. "Beats doing it with you." Ouch. What was with her lately? She'd been so moody. "Is something wrong, Sabine?" "No, I'm fine." She snapped, turning to the hover-bike. "Can we just get this over with?!" Ezra bit his lip and climbed onto the bike.

"Yes, ma'am."

Sabine was quiet the whole way into town, and Ezra didn't bother trying to get her to talk. Everyone knew not to pester Sabine when she was in one of her moods. But he wanted to make her feel better.

Ezra started thinking of all the things that could've upset her. Had her pain run out? Had Zeb eaten the last of the cereal again? Had he bothered her too much yesterday? What happened yesterday.

"Stop trying to figure out what's bothering me, I'm fine."

Ezra sighed, looking down at the crate he was pushing. "Of course." Ezra muttered. He heard shouts coming from around a corner. "Hey, what's that?" Sabine rolled her eyes. "Who cares? At least no one's bothering us." The Force flashed Ezra a warning. Something was wrong. Ezra pushed the crate against a wall. "No, Sabine. Something's wrong."

Ezra heard her groan, but he ignored her as he peeked around the corner. There was a small child with brown curly hair surrounded by stormtroopers. She was holding a piece of fruit tightly in her small hands. One of the stormtroopers reached for it and she bit him.

"We should help her." Sabine frowned. "She doesn't seem to be in any danger."

"Bring the thief in."

Ezra looked at Sabine, raising an eyebrow. "Okay yeah, let's help her."

Sabine and Ezra stepped around the corner and hurried over to the child. "Hunny! Where have you been?!" Sabine asked, perfectly pulling off the role of a concerned mother. She ran her hands down the child's arms, making sure she wasn't hurt. The child looked confused at first but quickly caught on. "I'm sowwie Mommy! I just wanted fwuit and you Daddy weren't home yet!"

Ezra pulled the extra credits he had left and handed them to the stormtroopers. "So sorry for the trouble." Ezra said as Sabine picked up the child. "We'll be going now."

"Okay, where are your real parents?" Sabine asked, setting the child down next to our crate. The girl shook her head and Ezra felt her immense sadness in the Force. "They died." She whispered quietly. Sabine and Ezra looked at each other. "Well, what's your name?" Ezra asked. The girl looked up at us, suddenly happy. "My name's Skyla!"

Ezra smiled. "It's nice to meet you, Skyla. I'm Ezra and this is Sabine." Ezra said, gesturing to the Mandalorian. Skyla's eyes widened in awe. "You're Mandalorin." She breathed. "How'd you guess?" Sabine asked, a small smile on her lips.

Skyla beamed. "Your armor!" She squealed, pointing at Sabine's chest. "I've seen it before, only once though." She then turned to Ezra. "And you're a Jedi." Hefrowned and rested his hands on his hips. "And how did you know that?" She pointed at his belt. "Your lightsaber." Ezra heard Sabine's muffled giggle. "Ah, right."

She looked from Ezra to Sabine. A small frown on her face.

"Are you two dating?"

Ezra felt his cheeks burn and Sabine chuckled….nervously? "No. We're not dating." She wrapped her arm around his shoulders and smiled at Ezra before turning to smile at the girl. "Just friends." Skyla made a face. What was that supposed to mean?

"Well, anyway…." She muttered as she scrambled up on top of the crate. "You guys can be my new parents!" Sabine sighed. "No, we can't…." Ezra and Skyla both looked at Sabine with wide, innocent eyes.

The Mandalorian sighed. "Oh, alright, fine." Skyla cheered, high-fiving Ezra then climbing onto his back. "Let's go!"

"Come on, Sabine." Ezra teased, elbowing the girl. "I'm sure Hera won't mind having her around." Sabine raised an eyebrow at the young Jedi. "Oh? You wanna bet?" Ezra grinned, arrogantly. "Yep!" Sabine nodded with a small grin. "Alright, five creds say she'll be mad at us." Ezra hummed. "Ten creds say she won't." "Mhm. We'll see whose money really talked."

Skyla suddenly gasped and tightened her grip on Ezra's neck, burying her face in his shoulder. Ezra frowned. "What's the matter?" The girl leaned in and whispered into Ezra's ear. "There's a monster." Ezra chuckled. "A monster? No, that's just Sabine." "Hey!"

Skyla shook her head. "No, not Mommy." Ezra frowned at that but decided not to correct the child. Skyla lifted her small hand and pointed toward the Ghost that was a few yards ahead of them. "Monster." She whispered.

Sabine giggled and Ezra grinned. "Hey, Zeb! You gotta go! Kid thinks you're a monster! You're scaring her!" The Lasat rolled his eyes. "Are you sure she wasn't talking about Sabine?!"

"Hey!"

"Wait." Zeb said, frowning at the group when they reached the Ghost' ramp. "You kidnapped a child?" "No no!" Ezra said quickly, moving Skyla to his hip. "We saved her." "From stormtroopers." Sabine added. Zeb stared at them incredulously. "It's true!"

"What's true?"

Ezra looked at Sabine and grinned. "Better get those credits ready." He whispered. She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. Ezra shifted Skyla's weight and walked over to Hera. "We rescued her from a bunch of stormtroopers." Now Hera looked at him incredulously. "Really?" Ezra nodded. "Well, why didn't you take her home?" The Twi'lek asked.

Skyla turned and hid her face in Ezra's neck. "She doesn't have parents." He said quietly. Hera's face softened and Ezra grinned at Sabine over his shoulder. "Pay up, Mando!" "Ezra." Hera's green eyes locked onto Ezra's blue ones.

"She can't stay with us."

"HA! You pay up, Jedi!"

Ezra looked at Sabine then at Hera with wide eyes. "What?! Why?!" He asked, setting the girl down. "It's too dangerous for her. She could get seriously hurt. Or killed." "She could die of starvation on her own!" "You just want your creds." Sabine said, glaring at him. "No." Ezra countered. "I just want Skyla to be safe!" Hera sighed. "She'd be safe here."

"You don't want me?"

All three of them looked down at the child in question. Skyla's eyes were red, her cheeks puffy from the tears rolling down her little face. "Why don't you want me?" Ezra felt a pang in his chest. He quickly bent down and scooped the child into his arms. "No." He whispered. "That's not true, we do want you."

Skyla nuzzled her face into Ezra's chest, smearing shot and tears across his shirt but the young man didn't seem to mind. "B-but the green lady said—" "She didn't mean it. Did you, Hera?"

Hera looked at Skyla and sighed. "No, I didn't mean it."

Hera could do a lot of things. But break a child's heart? No.

Skyla's eyes lit up and she reached for Hera. "I bet Kanan will like her." Ezra said, handing the child to their crew's pilot. Hera gave him a look then turned and walked up the ramp. She smiled to herself listening to Ezra brag about how he was right, and Sabine had to give him five credits.
