In the Krej household, Neil Krej was sitting by the fireplace on a comfy chair while exhaling through a bubble pipe that he was currently holding, causing some bubbles to bubble.
"Good evening. Tonight we are going through what had happened at Alleviate." Neil said to his audience. "For those who don't know, it is an after school bar for witch students. Serves apple blood at the lowest unit as to prevent apple blood overdoses. Additionally, they sell cakes, ice scream and delicious meals."
His half brother, Jakob Krej was looking at him with wide eyed curiosity. "Uh…I just wanted to know what the heck happened at Alleviate? You came in with a bit of a nosebleed and a busted up shoe and when I asked what happened, you just
"I assure you, these are unrelated to what went on at Alleviate." Neil tapped on a nearby orb that emitted a lightning strike. "But you're probably going to wanna pay attention for this dear brother because a lot of it is important." He exhaled through the pipe, blowing more bubbles.
"So what happened?" Jakob asked. "And please keep it straight."
"My ADHD feels more needs to be added to the story." Neil said. "By the way, what's ADHD?"
Jakob looked confused by his brother's comment and shrugged his shoulder. "Okay, proceed."
"First, let's start with Jakob and Rentley."
Jakob and Rentley
Sometime earlier at Alleviate, Jakob, Rentley, Floz and the still handicapped Steve JR entered the little bar with Jakob looking as smug as ever.
"Wassup!" Jakob screamed. "We are here and we want a drink and I want something to eat!" Rentley just rolled his eyes at his boyfriend's immaturity while Floz cheered and Steve JR just chanted his abbreviated name.
But instead of being impressed, everyone in attendance which included a young group of witchlets and demons were unimpressed.
Jakob whiffed the air. "Smell the air, honey. There's great drinks and food to be had."
The bar itself was kind of reminiscent of a 1950's diner in the Human Realm. Bar stools at the bar, old timey dispensers, a blender for some milkshake, a window so people can see the chefs cooking, seats placed by the window and red and purple pallets on the floor.
"Yup, I sure can smell it." Rentley replied.
Then, a blonde haired with yellow skin, yellow eyes and yellow teeth. "Hi there. My name is Blondie, yes, I am yellow. Please let me escort you to your booths. You get a window booth."
"Ah, the booth." Floz remarked as she and the others followed the waiter. "The best place in any diner."
"Or worse." Steve Jr remarked. "If you have someone rubbing their butts against the glass for giggles."
Rentley sat on one side close to the window with Jakob sitting next to him while Steve JR sat close by the window and Floz sitting next to him.
"Sure, just leave me by the window." Steve Jr said. "Make it difficult for me to reach my wheelchair, why don't ya? Also, did you need to leave me close to the window by this window cleaner?" He pointed to the window cleaner whom was currently applying the window with some liquid substance.
"It's just a window cleaner, SJ. Don't worry about it, honey." Jakob said. "What's so bad?"
"I don't trust the look of that window cleaner." SJ replied.
"Okay, so I'm glad we're here today because I have some information I wish to share." Jakob declared. "And it's regarding, Grudgeby."
"What is it?" Steve JR asked. "Are we facing off Glandis?"
"We should be." Jakob replied. "But that's not important right now. Right now, we must order. Waiter!"
Blondie was just about to serve them when all of a sudden, he was suddenly shoved against the floor by someone. "Woah!"
"That's for getting my order wrong!" Someone exclaimed while walking with a group of friends.
Blondie groaned on the floor while Jakob just looked at him with an uncaring stare. "Hey man, get me a beef burger, get the handsome gent next to me some chilly fries, get piercings an omelette and get the handicapped something off of the kid's menu.
Steve Jr looked offended. "Hey! I'd like actually like something off of the adult's menu!"
"Do you?" Floz asked with a stare.
Steve JR sighed. "Actually, I do want something from the kids menu with a puzzle included."
"Very, well." Blondie stood up and cracked his back. "But first, here's some complimentary water." He drew some spell circles above the table and summoned four glasses of water for them to drink together.
"Thank you, Blondie." Rentley said before the waiter walked off to tend to the people on the next stool.
They heard a splat from next door and the sound of him groaning. "I'm sorry for getting your order wrong, okay?!"
"Alright, now we have ordered our meals, let's discuss Grudgeby." Jakob said.
"Um…Jakob, there is something I wish to discuss with you." Rentley said. "I want-"
Then, the sound of a mic was heard. "Witches and demons, in just twenty minutes, Ro Heggleston will perform an original song written by themselves."
Jakob groaned. "Obnoxious announcement. Okay, what was it, baby?"
Rentley sighed. "Uh….Never mind. I'll tell you later."
"Okay firstly, I wish to compliment on Steve Jr." Jakob said. "I have to praise his ingenuity when it comes to using his…Uh, shall we say current state?"
"Well, I'm good with plants." Steve JR remarked.
"I think you are a valued member of the Grudgeby team." Jakob said. "Which is why you're going to be our honorary fourth member when one of us is sick or too busy with their studies."
"Thank you!" Steve JR exclaimed. "Happy to be a part of a team!"
"Jerk!" Someone from the booth behind Steve JR tossed what looked to be a glass of water on his head.
"Even though, I think you guys are complete jerks." Steve JR said. "I'm happy to play Grudgeby."
Jakob looked offended and flattered at the same time. "Oookay, thank you."
"Listen, Jakob, I need to tell you something extremely-"
All of a sudden, Azura had ran towards the table and snatched Rentley's water before pouring it all over herself.
"Sorry, Rentley." She said before walking away. "Dang it! I should have poured Jakob's all over myself!"
Jakob just looked confused by what had happened before casually shrugging his shoulders. "Okay, that was weird." He rolled up his sleeve to look at his watch. "Anyway, Floz, I wish to thank you for your contributing contributions."
"Thank you." Floz responded.
"I mean, you're great at Grudgeby, intelligent and…You have great piercings, girl!" He said while struggling to come up with something. "…Also, you do great in Bard classes…And…Uh….Honestly, if this were some kind of story, you'd probably be just a side character with no development except a representation of an old friend of the writer whom they had a bad falling out with after she called a friend of theirs a word that rhymes with gag and therefore cut all connections with them as a result." Jakob began panting after that very long monologue.
"Uh…Wow." Steve Jr remarked.
"Yeah, sorry about that." Jakob said. "Yeah, honestly Floz, you do so little."
"Eh, I'm fine." Floz assured him.
"Listen, Jakob, there is something important, I need to say to you." Rentley declared. "I-"
Then, all of sudden, Neil approached their booth and punched Rentley in the face. "I did it!" He walked back to the booth behind him and sat back down.
Jakob instead of being hurt of someone randomly coming out of nowhere and punching his boyfriend, just shrugged his shoulders.
"Oh, and honey, since you haven't been showing up, me and the team came to a unanimous decision." Jakob declared.
"Huh?" Rentley reacted.
"We have decided, since you have been more focused on your studies that you take a temporary leave of absence." Jakob explained. "Listen, you are a valued member of the team, you are our captain. But you've been so focused on your studies that they kind of interfere with us obliterating the rival team."
"Jakob, about Grudgeby-"
"Don't get me wrong honey, you are a fine captain, it's just that we've been holding the match against Glandis off for so long that they doubt you exist." Jakob explained. "So, we have decided to temporarily let you go until your lessons have finished."
Rentley sighed that wasn't sadness, but some kind of relief. "Well, that's the-"
"I bet this must be sad for you in this time." He said. "But, understand that Steve JR is making an apology cake."
"I am?" Steve JR responded with confusion.
"You sure are, SJ." Jakob replied with a smug smile.
"Okay, Jakob, there is something important I need to tell you." Rentley said, not even processing what had been given to him. "I've been thinking about my life recently and-"
Then, Mildred approached the group with a bit of a wet finger. "Hey Rentley, just a heads up, I'm planning to give you a Wet Willy. Just thought I'd give you a heads-"
"Oh for Titan sake!" Rentley slammed his hands on the table. "You know what?! Jakob, don't make my leave temporarily, I want it permanent."
Jakob looked surprised by this. "Permanent? Why?"
"Are the studies really that bad?" Floz asked.
"No, the Flyer Derby studies have been going great actually." Rentley admitted.
Jakob spat some water from his mouth, straight into Steve JR's face. "My face!"
"What?!" Jakob screamed.
"I'm going to the bathroom." Someone said from the booth behind Steve JR.
"I'm leaving." Mildred declared before walking back to her booth.
Jakob was in disbelief over what his boyfriend had said to him. "Honey, are you kidding me? Please tell me you joined the Clown Coven, please. Those guys are jokes."
"Hey, that's an insult to the Clown Coven!" A clown dressed in a jester outfit yelled from one of the bar stools.
"Sorry!" Steve JR said. "He's taking in some bad news."
Jakob stuttered. "But…But…But, that's half-a-witch's mother's job. Do you know what she is? She's the coach."
"I know that." Rentley assured him. "Where do you think I've been getting my training from?"
Jakob spat some more water in Steve JR's face. "Again?!"
"What?! Her?!" Jakob screamed in shock. "Why?!"
"Because I don't like Grudgeby." He replied. "I like Flyer Derby and I've loved it for a long time and dreamt of playing it." Then, his Palisman, Kit, jumped on the table and nuzzled their owner's finger, causing him to smile briefly. But then, that smile vanished and turned to a scowl. "And now, I am going to partake in Flyer Derby whenever the Emerald Entrails need me."
Jakob was in constant disbelief. "I don't believe it! You were planning to quit us, already?!"
"That's why I decided to come to Alleviate, anyway." He replied. "To tell you in person. Because doing it over text or a resignation letter would feel weak and pathetic."
"Okay, and if that's all." Jakob said.
"Oh, and that's not all." Rentley said. "I feel we have lost touch."
"What do you mean?" Jakob asked.
"I need to engage in stopping the Province and Flyer Derby on a massive scale and it can't be corrected." Rentley sighed. "We need to talk."
Jakob chuckled nervously. "About what?"
"It's over." Rentley replied. "It's all over!" Just as he said that, the food arrived. Jakob's burger, Floz's griffin egg omelette, Steve JR's which consisted of a mini wrap and little sticks while Rentley's chilly fries were fries that were emitting a cold chill. Plus, it had sauce on the side.
Jakob looked at the sauce and sighed. "Touchy. Touchy. I'm sorry that the sauce is all over the meal. I'll get us the waiter, honey."
"I'm Titan serious. This is Titan over. Us. Over. I think we shouldn't see each other anymore." Rentley said.
Jakob however, was still not getting the message. "But my friends are your friends. And your friends are not. I don't think it would work."
"What difference does that make?" Steve JR asked.
"As in, we'd still see each other." Jakob replied.
"I thought about it." Rentley replied. "And your friends are not my friends. You can have them!"
Jakob in that moment finally understood the message. In response, he snatched Floz's drink and downed it in one gulp before spitting it in Steve JR's face again.
"Oh my Titan, you're serious aren't you?" Jakob asked in shock. "What about our past?"
"We never shared a past." Rentley responded. "You were pulled out of a long line of self entitled jerks my Mom thought would make a great partner for me. I almost ended up with Floz. And let's be honest, her lip piercings would be unpleasant to kiss."
Jakob looked angered. "You're a half-a-witch."
"No, I'm full witch." Rentley replied. "Born from a self entitled piece of work and an angel in disguise. You, on the other hand, came from the remaining lines of brainwashed Belos supporters who indoctrinated you into their Province. And even if you weren't part of the Province, you'd still be a self entitled, high pitched, unimportant jerk who picks on Evelyn for no reason. Oh by the way, ever since I became a part of Flyer Derby, I've been beginning to grow feelings for Evelyn because at least she doesn't have a high pitched voice, isn't nasty to people who are part witch, doesn't have that annoying little moustache on the top of your lip that I have tried to have you shave and also doesn't say 'Honey' at the end of every sentence."
"You?!" He shouted angrily, causing everyone in the restaurant to look at the group. "Attracted to her?! This sounds like it came out of nowhere, honey!"
"Next time you call me honey, I'm going to shove that burger in that fish face of yours."
Everyone gasped at Rentley's comment while Mildred had a shocked look on her face. "Ooooh, wow!"
"So, do me a favour Jakob, if you wanna end things peacefully, then leave this very restaurant." Rentley said. "You and Floz. Steve JR stays because quite frankly, he is a very decent person."
"Aww, thanks." Steve JR gushed.
Jakob didn't have anything else to say to him as a retort. He tried, but all he could muster was a stutter. Then, he slammed his fist on the table before summoning an Abomination blade that he aimed against Rentley's throat.
Steve JR was close to using his wrap as a weapon, since he was close to throwing it across the table. Everyone in attendance in the Alleviate began to gasp and mumble in disbelief with what they were seeing.
Rentley wasn't afraid of his Province ex and instead, just stared at him with a hard glare. "You should be mindful about your surroundings next time, honey." He began to walk away with Floz following behind.
Once they left, Rentley and Steve JR moved further down their booth so they could be away from the window.
"Woo! Least we're far from that window." Steve JR remarked. "Honestly, don't know about the soap the window cleaner's using. Looks like the kind of substance they'd use to rub their butt all over."
"Woo, that felt good." Rentley said.
"Yup. Hey man, I'm glad you dumped that jerk." Steve JR said. "Honestly, only the most clueless or absent minded witch would be attracted to someone like that. Someone from the Province maybe."
Rentley gave a smile. "I felt too unhappy and unimportant in that relationship. And now that I'm out, I already feel happy. Is that insane?"
"Hey, if I were in an unhappy relationship I'd be happy." Steve JR said.
"I mean, I should be sad since this was a very long term relationship." Rentley said. "But I'm not." He took a bite out from his chilly fry and shivered. "Man, these fries are too cold."
"Hey, is someone going to eat me?" The beef burger that Jakob left behind, asked. "Or are you too cowardly to eat me? What are you, a vegan? Ha! Come on, eat me!"
"Uh, I hate beef burgers." Rentley remarked.
"Oh come on, you wimp!" The burger chided. "Maybe that girl coming towards ya might want a piece of me!"
"Girl?" Rentley turned to the let and saw Evelyn standing there, causing his heart to sink and his cheeks to turn red.
"Hey." The timid Evelyn said.
"Hi." Rentley blushed and looked to the window.
"Are you going to eat that beef burger?" She asked Steve JR.
"Nah." He replied.
Evelyn took the beef burger and before it could insult her, she took a bite, silencing it forever. "So, what are you guys doing at Alleviate?"
"Oh…Ya know, breaking up with a boyfriend." Rentley replied.
"Oh, that's a shame." Evelyn said.
"Not really." He assured her.
"Ya know, Mildred told me you said something interesting that involved me while you were breaking up with him." Evelyn began to play with her hair as her cheeks blemished. "What was it?"
"Uh…Steve JR is leaving." Steve JR declared before carefully jumping on his wheelchair and wheeling away, leaving the two teens on their own.
Rentley knew he wouldn't let this down if he didn't tell her so he sighed. "Okay, Evelyn, something I need to tell you." He tapped on the table. "Right, we've been hanging out with each other."
"Yup…" Evelyn rubbed her arm awkwardly.
"I…Well…I began….To…Ya know….I….I…I…I…I know this might seem sudden." He inhaled through his nose. "But I-"
Evelyn gasped. "Rentley, get down!" Evelyn quickly summoned a vine and pulled Rentley towards her just before an explosion went off by the window.
"And that was the end of Rentley's yarn." Neil said.
"Wait! Wait!" Jakob Krej interjected. "What happened? What was that explosion? Also, why did you tell me the tale of Rentley dumping Jakob's stupid butt. Not that I'm mad about it, I just wanna know what happened at Alleviate."
"And we will get to it." Neil assured his brother. "I just wanna tell you the story in different segments. Now, we will move on to Manny and his grandmother."
Jakob Krej looked to his brother in confusion. "Wait. Why are we going to them when the most interesting portions are happening at Alleviate? Also, how do you know what happened at the Human Realm?"
"You'll appreciate my storytelling when you get the chance." Neil said.
Manny and Camila
In the Human Realm, Camila was on the couch watching a Cosmic Frontier reboot on Dah Plus. And so far, she was not amused with what was going on.
She sighed. "Vergonzosa. Whose idea was it to make Captain Avery into some self entitled arrogant jerk? These writers know nothing about Cosmic Frontier or its characters."
She suddenly heard a knock on the door. She jumped off the couch in excitement and race walked to the door.
When she opened it, she saw her grandson with his rucksack in his hand and her daughter-in-law standing on her porch.
"Manny, Amity." She hugged her grandson and kissed his forehead, causing him to gush a little.
Then, Camila began to hug her daughter-in-law and kissed her on the cheek. "Don't just stand there, come in."
The two entered the house. Manny walked into the living area and unpacked from his rucksack to get out a book about elevators from the Demon Realm and a book about mechanical engineering and then a pen.
"How are you right now?" Camila asked.
"Well, I think me and Manny are fixing things right now." Amity said. "Me and Luz are just about to see Dr Waybright to have a talk about how we are improving."
"That's great." Camila cringed. "Does she know anything about…Ya know, the Demon Realm?"
"Manny's told her." Amity replied. "But…She apparently thinks he was born in the Deep South for some reason when he responded with Demon Realm. Doesn't she have a PHD? Doesn't that mean she's smart in the Human Realm?"
Camila shrugged her shoulders. "Maybe she's a really good child therapist." Camila theorised.
"Well, better not keep Dr Waybright waiting." Amity said. "I'll see you tomorrow, Mijo." Amity approached her son and kissed his forehead repeatedly.
"MOOOOOMMM!" Manny chided with embarrassment.
"Love you son."
Camila couldn't help but gush at how different the relationship between Amity and her son was. She was so happy that things were slightly getting better with their relationship.
Once Amity had left to meet with Luz to have a chat with Dr Waybright, Camila entered the living room with Manny whom was still reading his book about human technology.
"Enjoying that book, Mijo?" Camila asked.
"Not really." Manny replied. "This book on my left gets everything wrong about elevators in the Human Realm. It says that elevators in the Human Realm are held up by a rope. When in actuality it's a ton of steelwork."
"So, you're going Human school soon, huh?" Camila asked.
"Yeah." Manny replied. "I'm excited for it."
Camila sat on the couch to watch her grandson edit around with his book. She began to stare at him all worried. She knew he was about to go to not just his first human school, but his first human school.
And, if there is one thing she knows about human schools is that they aren't as well adapted to mental health issues as other people. And Manny was no exception.
"Mijo, are you sure about all this?" Camila asked.
"Yeah. There are new fireflies trapped inside the buttons." He froze and stared at his grandmother. "Abuela, are there fireflies in the elevator buttons?"
"No, Mijo." Camila said. "It's just…Human school. Are you sure about it?"
"I am sure." Manny replied. "When you've essentially seen everything in the Demon Realm, it's really not that exciting to learn about. The Human Realm on the other hand…It just feels more otherworldly to me. I guess, with me being part human, I wanna be more in touch with my human roots."
Camila felt touched by the notion, but that nagging worry of Manny being ostracised was still in her head. "But…Ya know, human schools are different. They work differently than Demon Realm schools. You might-"
"Home was strange to Mama." Manny said. "If Mama could navigate it, then do can I. I just need to learn a lot of trial and error."
"I admire your confidence…But…Are you sure?"
Manny sighed and turned to his Abuela. "You think I'm going to struggle aren't you? You think I'm going to struggle so bad. I know that there will be problems."
"Mijo…"
"Besides…" Manny interjected. "…I know that there will be people who won't understand me, but there will be people who will be. I know that there won't be people who will accept my parents for what they are, but I know that there will be. And I know that loser Jacob Hopkins might hunt me down if I use my magic. But…" He formed his arm into an abomination blade, startling his grandma. "…He really doesn't know how powerful a witch with Abomination powers are. You might look worried for me, but remember, Aunt Vee managed to survive and now has a job as a zookeeper."
Camila looked at her grandson with a small smile and exhaled. "You definitely have your Mama's optimism." She pulled him in for a hug which he returned despite the fact that his arm was still an Abomination form, causing a bit to end up on his grandma's jumper.
"Oh, sorry Abuela." Manny removed his hand from his Abuela's back and accidentally sliced the coffee table in half, causing his Grandma to scream.
Then, the youngest Noceda began to get a little panicked by what he what just done. His arm turned back to his regular one and backed away slightly. "…Titan help me." He pleaded.
"Wait! Wait!" Jakob Krej interjected. "What was that?!"
"A little lighthearted something." Neil replied. "Just some family fluff moments as some would call it on those fanfic tomes."
"But what happened at Alleviate?!"
"I guess I could tell you what happened with Mildred's group." Neil said. "The one I was with specifically."
Mildred, Hecate, Evelyn and Neil
A few moments after Jakob and co entered the restaurant, Mildred, Neil, Hecate and Evelyn entered the restaurant.
"So, we're at a restaurant spying on our best friend to make sure she doesn't screw up with some possible newfound friends?" Mildred remarked. "Doesn't sound creepy."
"We're not spying, just making sure she has some healthy friends." Hecate replied.
"Yeah." Evelyn said. "By the way Hecate, what's Neil doing here?"
"I don't know." Hecate replied with a shoulder shrug. "He just tagged along."
"Oh, me and Neil are in a dare contest to see how many dares we can do till one of us refuse." Mildred replied. "And as punishment, one of our heads will turn into a chicken for 24 hours."
"A harsh punishment." Neil said. "I will have to eat seeds and pray I don't grow a tree from my mouth."
"Our booth should be around that corner." Hecate said. "Follow me."
As they walked towards their booth, Mildred noticed Blondie taking orders from Rentley's friend group and narrowed her eyes at him.
"Hey Neil, see that waiter with a stupid dumb face?" Mildred asked.
"Yes his face looks rather abnormal." Neil remarked sarcastically.
"Shove him to the floor." Mildred commanded.
"Very well." Neil did as he was told and shoved Blondie to the floor, startling the customers he was asking orders from.
"That's for getting my order wrong!" Mildred yelled.
Soon, they were seated in their booth by the window. Hecate was seated next to Mildred, whom took the full view of the window. While Evelyn sat next to Neil, whom also had full view of the window. Just outside, there was another window cleaner cleaning their spot.
"Close to the window." Hecate said. "So you can get the best view of the Isles." She said while some soap blocked their view of the Isles.
"Yes, right there is a spot of soap, over there are some bubbles and right there is someone who looks like could rub their butt over the window." Mildred remarked sarcastically.
Neil, whom was close to the window narrowed his eyes at the window cleaner. "I don't like the looks of him."
Hecate leaned out of her booth along with Evelyn so they could get a good look at Azura, whom was sitting across from Clarence and a witch with black hair, a pair of glasses, silver eye liner, a skirt, a heavy metal shirt, black shoes and appeared to be swaying. While across was a witch with blonde hair, circular glasses, a cute smile, a cropped jumper and a pink skirt.
They noted that Azura was looking worried and nervous with hanging out with them, which Hecate noticed and began to worry almost instantly.
"Ooooh, I hope she will be okay soon enough." Hecate said.
"Hey Mildred, in case that jerk returns, I want you to throw this slop at him." Neil said while handing a bag of white slop to her.
"What is this?" Mildred asked.
"Oatmeal I cooked this morning." He replied. "I don't even like oatmeal but something told me I needed this."
"Guys, why are you having this dare contest?" Evelyn asked. "We are meant to be helping Azura."
"I am." Mildred retorted. "While also doing this dare contest."
Then Blondie arrived with a handful of menus in his hand. "Hi there, welcome to Allevi-" Suddenly, Mildred tossed the bag of oatmeal right into his face, causing a loud splat. Blondie groaned in annoyance as he wiped the oatmeal off his face. "I'm sorry for getting your order wrong, okay?!"
"Not accepted." Mildred responded. "Until I feel like not holding a grudge on you anymore."
Blondie sighed. "What can I get you?"
"It's okay." Hecate assured him. "I pre ordered our meals."
"Oh, that's good." Blondie said before walking away to tend to another customer.
"Okay, who are these guys sitting by Azura and Clarence?" Hecate asked.
Evelyn pointed to the one sitting next to Clarence. "The one with the eyeliner is…"
Then, an announcement on the mic was heard. "Witches and demons, in just twenty minutes, Ro Heggleston will perform an original song written by themselves."
They saw that Ro was getting excited while Clarence just patted their back with support.
"You heard the com." Evelyn said. "Ro Heggelston. Clarence's partner. They're a part of Bard classes where they write original songs."
"I hope to hear some soon." Hecate remarked.
"Or by some mere coincidence fate decides not to let us due to them not writing songs." Neil said.
"The one with circular specs is Lily Heggelston." Evelyn explained. "They are Ro's sister. She likes to do history."
"She might be important for future references." Neil said.
"Okay, Neil, I dare you to wipe your butt on that glass." Mildred requested. Neil reacted by just shrugging his shoulders and beginning to unbuckle his belt.
While Neil was doing his inappropriate dare, Evelyn and Hecate just watched on. "How's Azura doing?" Evelyn asked.
"She's looking nervous." Hecate replied. "I don't know if she is going to do well. But I should have some confidence."
"Maybe we should stop watching before this gets creepy." Evelyn suggested.
"Agreed." Hecate said before turning to face Evelyn. "Perhaps, we should start talking to each other. There's a ton of stuff about each other we don't know."
Evelyn smiled. "That sounds great. You should definitely tell something interesting about yourself, Neil."
"I once saw a Time Machine go back to the birth of Luz Noceda." Neil said.
"Ooookay." Hecate responded. "Weird."
"Oh Mildred, I dare you to tell me your backstory." Neil said. "I don't know much about your previous life or how you were adopted by Mr Porter."
Mildred just sat back in her seat and sighed. "What is there to tell?" That was when, she froze and began to have a flashback.
She flashback to when she was five and trapped in a wooden crate feeling the weight of the sea inside the box.
Then, there was a flash of five year old Azura and Evelyn finding her in the box.
Then, one of Mildred laying in bed and crying herself to sleep all while moving about like she was trying to block something from her mind.
She snapped out of the flashback and shrugged her shoulders. "I got adopted by Mr Porter and that was it."
"But me and Azura found-" Mildred used her magic to shove some napkins into Evelyn's mouth, silencing her from talking.
Hecate then heard the sound of footsteps approaching. "Hey, what is Azura do-"
They then saw Azura pouring Rentley's glass of water all over her head. "Sorry, Rentley." She said before walking away.
Hecate, Evelyn, Mildred and Neil just stared at the commotion with confusion. But then, Hecate's confusion turned to sympathy as she saw how worried Azura looked.
"Oh no, she's looking nervous." Hecate shivered. "Should I run in to do something?"
"She'll be fine." Mildred assured her. "Your girlfriend will run to you if things get out of hand."
"Azura's not my girlfriend!" Hecate argued.
"Yet." Neil said.
"Hey listen Hecate, let's take your mind off of things." Evelyn's suggestion made Hecate turn to face her. "How about you tell us a little more about yourself?"
"What is there to know about me?" Hecate asked. "I'm a fan of the Human Witch by Luz Noceda whom I've met a few times. Usually in time consuming situations as opposed to casual meetings. I mean, if I was trying to have a conversation with her casually, then I'd probably be shaking."
"I was thinking about your home life." Mildred said. "I'm kind of curious as to what it's like there."
Hecate sighed. "Well…It's kind of complicated. I was only raised by my mother Roma. She adopted me when my parents just abandoned me right on her doorstep and she took me in instantly. She named me Hecate after a character in The Good Witch Azura, specifically, Azura's lover."
"So, you want to be Azura's girlfriend?" Neil asked.
Hecate blushed a little. "What? No!"
"Oh Neil, I have another dare." Mildred said. "I dare you to punch Rentley in the face for no reason."
Neil shrugged his shoulders. "Okay, sure." He climbed out of the booth to punch Rentley in the face.
"Anyway, we aren't exactly close." Hecate admitted. "She's always busy with work while I'm busy doing work. I was homeschooled for years until Roma decided to send me to Hexside and…That's how I met you guys." She looked saddened. "But still, Roma doesn't say much to me. The only words she will ever say to me for some reason is 'I love you.'"
Evelyn and Mildred looked at her just as the sound of someone punching another person in the face is heard.
Neil returned to the table with his fists raised. "I did it!"
"Good job." Mildred said.
"Well, I hope things get better between you and your Mom." Evelyn said. "She does sound like she does care for you. In her own unique way anyway."
"Never mind about that." Mildred said as she leaned across the table. "So…Evelyn, I've been hearing that you and Rentley have been hanging out with each other a lot."
Evelyn gave a light blush. "I guess so."
"You guess so?" Mildred scoffed. "Girl, you have been hanging out with him. I've seen it at your house. I keep coming to see what you're doing."
"Mildred, you keep trying to get a peak of my Mom's muscles." Evelyn retorted.
"Evelyn, your Mom's a hottie with abs and biceps." Mildred retorted. "And you know how I feel about abs and biceps."
Evelyn sighed and leaned into Neil. "Neil, if you can think of a dare to get rid of Mildred, now would be the time."
"Okay." Neil said.
"Ya know Evelyn, I'm kind of curious about Rentley." Hecate leaned in causing Evelyn to groan.
"I don't want to say." Evelyn began to whisper. "But…Maybe, a part of me…Kind of thinks he is a tad bit cute."
Mildred grinned. "Oh Neil, you better dare me to do that next."
"No, I dare you to give Rentley a wet Willy." Neil's response made Mildred stare at him with disappointment.
"I could have told Rentley about Evelyn's secret." Mildred shrugged her shoulders and put her finger in her mouth before pulling it back out. "I'll be back." She climbed out of the booth to give Rentley a wet Willy.
"So, aren't you going to tell us about how Rentley makes you feel?" Hecate asked.
"Uh…Well…I mean, he is just…Ya know…I…I doubt I have interesting words in my vocabulary to describe how I feel about him." She replied.
"Oh for Titan sake!" They heard Rentley slamming his hands on the table. "You know what?! Jakob, don't make my leave temporarily, I want it permanent."
Everyone in the booth froze due to Rentley's sudden outburst. "Was that Rentley?" Evelyn asked.
Hecate looked over the booth. "Yup."
"Ooooooh, I sense a break up." Neil said before nudging Evelyn's shoulder. "Don't worry, this could be your chance."
Evelyn's cheeks turned red. "Come on guys, perhaps we shouldn't listen to what's going on."
"But it's Rentley." Neil reminded her. "I'm telling you that guy's a hottie. You'd be missing out on that."
Evelyn looked at Neil with a surprised expression before squealing. "I have to go to the bathroom." She declared before jumping off of her booth and marching towards the bathroom.
Mildred returned a bit later and sat back down. "You guys listening in?" She asked.
"Oh yeah, we are." Hecate replied.
"Welcome to my level." Mildred said. "Ready to listen in?"
Suddenly, Hecate was getting a call from her scroll that she answered. "Hello?….I love you too Mom…Is that it?…Very well." She hung up her phone and sighed. "Sorry, I think my order's gotta go. Mom wants me to return some books to the library while she's at work. I should go to the bathroom before I go, though."
She jumped out of the booth and marched towards the bathroom while Neil and Mildred stayed back.
"You know speaking of taking it to go, where the heck is our food?" Mildred asked Neil.
"Never mind, entertainment." Neil replied.
And so, the two listened to Rentley announcing that he will leave Grudgeby, how he wishes to play Flyer Derby, how he knows his boyfriend is part of the Province, how he now has growing feelings for Evelyn and an insult that made Mildred go 'Ooooh, wow!"
There was an intense silence when Jakob pressed his Abomination blade close to Rentley, which almost made everyone run out. But thankfully, Jakob and Floz left.
Mildred exhaled with relief. "I mean, I'm not gonna lie that was tense. I was so tempted to eat that beef burger. But…" She snatched Floz's dish from the booth behind and began eating it. "…Dude, I am so hungry right now. I don't even care if our order is late."
Then, Evelyn returned from the bathroom and sat back down. "What did I miss?"
"Oh nothing much." Mildred grinned. "Except that Rentley said something interesting while he broke up with Jakob."
"Huh?" Evelyn asked. "What did he say?"
Mildred grinned. "Well, I guess you'll have to find out."
Judging by her grin, Evelyn could tell that whatever Rentley said was something she was going to love. She inhaled through her nose and gave a loud exhale before standing up and walking towards Rentley's booth.
Mildred's turned to the direction of Rentley's booth to listen to what the two lovebirds will say to each other. While she did that, Neil was looking at the window with a worried expression.
"And in that moment, I realised that the gel that had been placed on the window was not soap. It was in fact, a highly dangerous explosive known only as Liquidate. I could tell due to a very distinct smell I thought was actually the smell of grandma. Please don't tell Grandma I said she smells like Liquidate. I had to do something as fast as I could."
Then, he saw the bubbles on the window began to lit up which caused Neil to act quickly and tackle Mildred out of the booth just before the explosion took place.
"And now, we will focus on Luz and Amity." Neil declared.
"No!" Jakob Krej pleaded. "I wanna know what happens at Alleviate. These subplots don't actually amount to anything, ya know."
"I told you they were just some family fluff moments." Neil argued.
"But how do you know what happens?" Jakob asked.
Neil shrugged his shoulders. "I just do. Anyway, here's what happened to Luz and Amity."
Luz and Amity
After dropping her son off at her Abuela's, Amity carefully turned the knob of the shack so the portal to the Demon Realm wouldn't activate and exposing the world.
Inside the shack, Luz was awaiting for her wife's arrival with their respective Palismen by her side on the couch.
"Hey, is she here?" Amity asked as she sat next to her wife.
"She's just in the bathroom." Luz replied just as Stringbean shape shifted into a chameleon. "She'll be out in a moment."
"Oh good." Amity remarked. "So, we're still keeping the Deep South lie? I figured it'd be best if I said I was born in Texas. I mean, that place is hot like the Demon Realm."
"But what would I be doing in Texas?" Luz asked. "None of my relatives live there."
"Uh…Covention?" Amity suggested.
"I don't know Amity, I don't feel like we should hide it." Luz said. "I feel the need that we need to tell Dr Waybright about the Demon Realm."
Amity looked shocked. "What?! Are you crazy?! Do you have any idea what might happen? She might tell someone about it!"
"She's a therapist." Luz admitted. "She isn't allowed to legally disclose any information to anyone outside this house. Ya know, patient and doctor confidentiality."
"I know!" Amity exclaimed. "But this is different! I'm a witch! If she finds out who knows what might happen!"
"I mean, it's not like she can tell anyone." Luz said. "She'd be breaking the bond between the patient and the therapist. Plus, if she found out you were a witch, I doubt she will throw a bottle of water on ya."
Amity groaned. "I still don't understand that. If water is the weakness of a witch then how do they bathe?"
Then, they heard footsteps coming down the stairs. They were from Dr Sasha Waybright whom sat on the couch in front of them.
"Ah, Mrs Noceda, so glad you could join us." Dr Waybright said.
"It's a pleasure seeing you again." Amity replied.
"And how are things with Manny right now?" She asked. "Did my book help?"
"Listen Dr Waybright, I feel you have good intentions, but the book didn't help." Amity replied.
Sasha looked at her with sympathy. "I apologise. Sometimes, there are different and diverse ways autism affects people. Some people are non verbal, some can only speak in limited sentences, some are socially awkward and some are very outgoing. Did you at least find a way to communicate?"
"I just sat down and listened to him." Amity replied. "And I talked to him. I gave him assurance that I still loved him. And we hugged."
"That's good." Sasha said. "Assuring you still love your child. Luz, how do you communicate with Manny? Do you have a special way of communicating with him?"
"Well, growing up on the spectrum and being misunderstood, I very much had experience in it." Luz replied. "I didn't have a lot of people to talk to besides my Mom about my problems. So as a parent, I listened to him and spoke to him like he was my son and not someone else."
"People say that autism tends to be genetic." Sasha said.
"Really?" Amity asked. "I heard it was through vaccines."
"Yeah, but don't listen to those guys." Sasha replied. "They don't know what they're saying. Trust me, it's through genetics. At least, that is what's unanimously agreed upon. So, is Manny going to school soon?"
"Yeah." Luz replied. "He's at the right age to start middle school. He has been homeschooled for most of his life due to difficulties and expectations teachers put on him. But, I feel he's ready."
"Are you sure?" Sasha asked.
"He wants this." Luz replied. "He told me himself."
"And you support it?" Sasha asked.
"I am a little worried since he will be entering a new world." Amity nudged her wife in the side. "In the metaphorical sense."
"What's something you feel he will struggle with as he enters a new stage in his life?" Sasha asked. "You say he is entering a new world, what do you mean by the metaphorical sense?"
"He has spent most of his life homeschooled." Amity replied. "He doesn't know how people will react to him."
"You think he will be subjected to bullying?" Sasha asked.
"I'm worried he might." Luz replied. "He's never had a bully in his life, I don't know how he will take it or how he will react."
"Well, I think it's best you try and warn him of what could happen while trying to remain optimistic about his future." Sasha suggested. "Lets face it, everybody in their life one way or another is subjected to some sort of oppression."
"Amity also taught him self defence and I'm worried he…Might take some bad advice he got from her." Luz's comment made Amity narrow her eyes at her wife.
"Luz…You also taught him." Amity reminded her wife.
"So, you teach your son violence?" Sasha asked.
Luz and Amity froze and began to sweat. "Well…Where we come from…He has to fight to survive." Luz said.
"Everywhere might be trying to kill him or eat him." Amity said.
"So, you have him fight against bears?" Sasha asked with a brow raised.
"What?!" Amity exclaimed. "My son fighting a bear?! I would punish him for life!"
"Yet, you still teach him to fight." Sasha said.
"Yeah…Well…It's…Well…" Luz began to stutter which was causing the Palismen to worry as well. "…One thing I….Uh…" Luz sighed. "…Dr Waybright, we haven't been very honest about Manny."
Sasha took off her glasses. "Well, I admire your honesty. What haven't you been honest about?"
"Manny, our daughter and me." Amity grabbed one side of her hair and sighed. "Now just to be clear, you won't tell anyone?"
"Patient confidentiality." Sasha assured her.
Amity sighed and moved her hair aside to reveal her pointy ears. The reveal made Sasha slightly intrigued but not by much. That was until, she saw the Stringbean shape change into her original form.
Sasha in that moment was attentive. Her brows were raised with surprise as she stood up to take it all in. Then, the weird snake creature and the white cat turned to staffs and jumped into their respective owners' hands.
Sasha backed away, startled, confused and fascinated with what was being presented right in front of her. Then, Amity drew a spell circle that summoned a small abomination that gave the psychiatrist a little wave.
Sasha, unsure of what to do, gave a small smile and waved back. "So…You're magic elves?"
Amity gave Sasha a deadpan stare while her Abomination turned into a puddle. "No."
Luz laughed. "Actually, Amity is a witch. I, on the other hand, am human. Our kids, are half human and half witch. Which includes Manny."
"Well….How do you feel?" Amity asked.
Sasha exhaled through her mouth and turned away from the mothers to keep her head straight. "Keep it together, Sasha. Keep it together, Sasha. Keep it together, Sasha. You've seen weirder stuff, just keep it together." She turned back to face the mothers. "ARE YOU-"
About ten minutes later, Sasha was sitting on the couch in-between Luz and Amity, whom have made her a cup of tea to calm her nerves.
"Okay, okay, so when you say autism doesn't exist where you come from, that means it literally isn't a concept in your world?" Sasha said, trying to get her head together.
"Yeah." Amity replied.
"And when Manny said Demon Realm, he means there's a literal world where witches, demons…" She looked at Stringbean and Ghost with a perplexed expression. "…Palismen? They coexist!"
"Yeah. A strange world exists." Luz replied. "Pretty neat right?"
"I mean…I…I have to think on how to delicately handle this since I know now Manny is a witch." Sasha sighed. "I…I…"
Luz patted Sasha on the back. "You'll figure it out. Perhaps when you see Manny again."
"I hope so." Sasha rubbed her eyes. "I…Is there anyone else that knows about this?"
"Well, besides my Mami and Marcy Wu, no one else." Luz replied.
Sasha shot up from the couch. "WHAT?! MARCY KNOWS?!"
Suddenly, there was a bright light outside the house. "Oh great, don't tell me Heaven exists as well." Sasha groaned.
"No, that will be the portal." Luz replied.
Then, the bright flash disappeared and Eda opened the door. "Luz, Amity…I…" She froze when she saw Sasha. "…Wait, does she…Uh, forget it! Listen, something's happened at Alleviate."
"And that's the end of that section." Neil said.
Jakob Krej sighed. "Okay, tell me about King."
"Why would I?" Neil asked. "He's out hiding somewhere eating snacks with Greg and Reg. It's not all that interesting. But…If you insist…"
"NO!" Jakob Krej screamed. "Tell me, please, Neil! The thing you wanted to tell me before I assumed you wanted to tell another story!"
Neil exhaled. "Okay, I shall tell you Azura's story."
Azura
The half human and half witch had entered Alleviate to hang out in order to make some new friends. She was nervous because she was worried about what the worst could happen was. Will Clarence be as bad as Jakob or will he a worthy ally.
He looked to the table to see Clarence sitting by a booth next to a wall with one person sitting next to him and another right in front of him.
She walked up to them and sat down next to the girl. Once, she sat down, Clarence noticed her and smiled.
"Azura, so glad you could make it." Clarence said while smiling.
Azura gave a nervous smile. "Yeaaaaahhhhh. So glad I could."
"Oh, this is my romantic partner, Ro, they're a part of the Bard Coven." He explained.
Ro gave Azura a wave while swaying. "Heeeeey!"
"And this is their sister, Lily."
"Been studying your Mami recently." Lily offered her a handshake. "Is it true that she ate puzzles?"
Azura looked uncomfortable with the question which Clarence took notice of. "Forgive her, she's a bit of a history buff. She might be able to help you sometime in the future if you need her."
"I've also been studying about Galdertsones and a strange vehicle sighted throughout the Boiling Isles since books were invented." Lily explained.
"Um….Okay." Azura said unsure on how to take it.
There was an awkward silence as Azura looked to the people that invited her with a nervous expression. She analysed the people that were currently either staring at her or having conversations that didn't concern her. While Lily was just staring at her with wide eyed curiosity before joining a conversation with her sibling and their boyfriend.
Azura knew she had to break the silence somehow so she said the first thing that came to mind. "So…Where's your sister, Clarence?"
"Oh, she couldn't come." Clarence replied. "She's currently fishing with her friends."
Azura gave a cringe inducing smile trying to find some enthusiasm in it. "Oh…Fishing…Ya know, the Human Realm's got fishing as well."
"Oh, that's cool." Clarence remarked.
"Yeah…It stinks."
There was an awkward silence between the four that was broken when the sound of someone crashing on the floor was heard.
That was because, Neil had just shoved Blondie to the floor, startling the customers the waiter was asking orders from.
"That's for getting my order wrong!" Mildred exclaimed.
Clarence sighed with empathy. "Poor Blondie. He gets everyone's orders wrong and gets a lot of flack. He's trying his best."
"So, Azura, you do Bard work?" Ro asked.
"Yeeaaaaahhhhh, a bit." Azura replied. "I tend to distract myself with work. Been trying to not do so much and instead…Ya know, enjoy life and make new friends."
"Well, that's good." Clarence replied. "And how have you been doing that?"
Azura rubbed the back of her head. "Well…Ya know….Trying." Azura began to sweat with nervousness, wanting this to be over with.
"Okay then." Clarence said.
"Anyway, have you heard anything about the Province?" Lily asked. "Did you know that they were a small group that…."
As Lily spoke about the Province, Azura had spaced out to analyse things. "This is going terrible." She said in her thoughts. "I can't say anything interesting to these guys. But do I wanna be friends with them. Of course you do! You need new friends! You can't always be friends with your cousin, some girl who never cared about your friend group and some cute girl….Wait, did I just call Hecate…"
"Witches and demons, in just twenty minutes, Ro Heggleston will perform an original song written by themselves."
She saw that Ro was getting excited while Clarence just patted their back with support. "Clarence! Do you hear that?! I'm about to perform?!"
"Yes, yes, I hear ya, babe." Clarence assured his partner.
"Azura, do you wanna hear a preview?" Ro asked with excitement.
"Uh…I mean, I'm not to keen on singing." Azura replied.
"Oh Titan!" Ro began to panic. "You don't like it! You don't like it! Clarence! She doesn't like it!"
Clarence wrapped his arms around them and began to rub their back to comfort them. "Ro, it's okay. She didn't mean that."
As Ro panicked, Azura went back into her thoughts. "Oh man. I did not mean any of that. Oh Titan, dang it! You really screwed up Azura!" She touched her face and checked her fingers. "Oh man, I need to cool off."
Lily drew a spell circle and summoned a napkin that she was about to dab Azura with. "I'm going for water!"
She jumped out of the booth, leaving Clarence confused just as Blondie arrived with a tray of water. "Hey! We have water!"
Azura had ran towards Rentley's booth and grabbed a cup of water from Rentley's side before pouring it all over herself. "Sorry, Rentley." She said before walking away. "Dang it! I should have poured Jakob's all over myself!"
Azura returned to her booth, all wet and soaking. Clarence, Lily and Ro looked at her with worry on their faces.
"You okay, Azura?" Clarence asked.
Azura laughed. "I'm fine! I'm fine! Just got thirsty!" She then saw a glass of water in front of her and poured the water on herself.
Clarence raised a brow. "Uh….You okay, Azura?"
Azura blew a raspberry. "Whhhhhhhhhhhhat?! I am fine! I…I'm hot…Thirsty….And…Well…Ya know…I….I…I…Well…"
Clarence sighed. "Azura, this isn't working out for you is it?"
"What?" Azura asked.
"This group." Clarence said. "Is this not working out?"
"Clarence…"
"Azura, I'm going to be honest, I don't think we're right for you." Clarence said. "You feel uncomfortable around us. You feel as though, you don't belong. Which isn't a bad thing at all. You know what, I see you hang around with Evelyn, Hecate and Mildred and you know what I think, I think you're a great group."
Then, they heard the sound of a punch from not far ahead and saw Rentley getting punched in the face by Neil.
"I did it!" Neil exclaimed.
Clarence saw the action and shrugged his shoulders. "Well, mostly. How do you feel around us, Azura? And be honest."
Azura began to think about what was happening right now and sighed. "Well…Okay…Okay…I don't feel I'm right for the group. Don't get me wrong you three, I like you, I think you are great people, I just don't think you're my kind of people. I feel more comfortable with Evelyn, Hecate, Mildred and….I think Neil's part of our group now so…I think I can accept this. I….Well…"
"Oh for Titan sake!" They heard Rentley slamming his hands on the table. "You know what?! Jakob, don't make my leave temporarily, I want it permanent."
Everyone turned to look at Rentley yelling at Jakob. "Azura, do you need to finish?" Clarence asked.
"Well…I don't like to listen in, but…Rentley's yelling at Jakob so…" The four leaned in to listen in on what could be the breakup of the century.
And they did. Rentley announced to Jakob that he was quitting Grudgeby to do Flyer Derby, a massive breakup and Jakob threatening Rentley which thankfully did not go anywhere worse.
Once that was over, Clarence wiped some sweat from his brow. "Woo. That was intense. Least that didn't end with anything worse."
"So, what were you saying, Azura?" Lily asked.
Azura looked between Clarence and her friends just close by. She wanted to make this work with Clarence but she realised that she felt more comfortable with a friend group who truly get her and understand her and listen to her when she needs it and try and get her out of her comfort zone.
"You know what, you're right." Azura smiled. "Your group is great and all, but my group is with those weirdos everywhere. My Mami, used to say, us weirdos have got to stick together. And that's what I'm going to do." She stood up and began walking to her weirdos.
Just as she was about to get close, she saw that the window that was close to the other booths began to light up.
Azura, having done potions classes, knew what this was. Liquidate. So, she dived behind the bar just as everyone else who saw the Liquidate dived out of the way as well.
Then, there was a huge explosion that shook up the entire restaurant. Chairs flying all over, glasses shattered, bricks flying all over and some witches flying into machinery.
Azura, covered in cuts on her face, coughed as the smoke cleared while Mildred held on to Neil where she began to feel his biceps and blushed.
Rentley on the other hand, was on top of Evelyn, unconscious and not moving. Evelyn removed him off of her body and began tapping his face. "Rentley?! Rentley?!" But he was unresponsive.
Steve JR sat up to see that his wheelchair had been completely eviscerated in the blast and was shocked.
When the smoke cleared, the culprits were revealed to be none other than The Bane, The Spook and Kikimora.
Every witch and demon shivered at the sight of the Province right outside this very establishment. They wanted to do something to fight back, but for some reason, in that moment, they were frightened of him.
"Greetings, Boiling Isles!" The Bane exclaimed as he was applying a glove on to his hand. "You've seen the news reports, you've read the papers, you've heard the gossipers, I am The Bane. Leader of the Province." He entered the restaurant while adjusting the glove. "I…Have come to you with salvation. Belos tried to save us, against the wrath of the Titan. Day of Unity, was a day where the Titan would have taken us to a Promised Land. But that child from the stars prevented that. Shame." He showed the glove to the petrified crowd. "And this, is your salvation."
Azura got a look at what The Bane was showing to the crowd and it caused them to shiver in fear. Turns out he was holding none other than a rebuilt branding glove.
There were murmurs and shivers as everyone looked to The Bane with fear all over their faces. "I want to brand all of you to save you from the Titan's wrath. But unfortunately, even if I did brand you, you wouldn't have found a way to rid of it. The de-brander as Mr Blight called it. Not to worry, you still have the choice. But don't come crying to me when the Isles burn from the Titan's wrath."
Kikimora drew a spell circle which caused smoke to evaporate around the area, surrounding her, The Spook and The Bane.
"The Resurgence of Unity will come." The Bane said. "See you soon, Boiling Isles." He walked backwards into the smoke that engulfed Kikimora and The Spook.
Soon, the smoke vanished and so did the trio. Everyone, reluctantly stood up to take in what had just happened in this very restaurant.
"Is everyone okay?" Blondie asked.
Azura looked worried after what had been said by The Bane. She looked at Neil who was giving a deadpan look but his eyes were fearful, a terrified Evelyn was still trying to wake an unconscious Rentley while Mildred looked to be processing things. Azura now understood how terrible the situation was going to be. The Bane now had a branding glove. Which means, anyone could be branded.
Then, Hecate exited the bathroom with a copy of The Human Witch in her hand. "Woo. Sorry I was in there a long time guys, I-" She froze when she saw how much of a mess the restaurant was. She looked at the debris, the hole in the wall, the injured customers and the terrified look on Azura's face.
"Azura? What happened?"
Azura could only look at her friend with a saddened expression that had a hint of worry as well. Hecate knew by the look of that face, that something traumatising had happened.
