I didn't specify what Friday... also super short, but it's more of a filler. I'll explain more at the bottom.
~3.5 weeks later~
Six and a half months pregnant.
4 days until they leave.
"Adora, I would love it if you would have breakfast with your father and I this morning," Marlena greeted as she entered Adora's room. The blonde in question paused in brushing her hair. "Um... can do..." She frowned slightly. "Why?" Marlena took a seat on the bed, splaying her hands slightly. "I'm aware you are leaving soon, to return to Etheria to have your child, and I simply wish to spend time with you," Adora turned with a quirked brow. "I'm not not ever gonna come back. Once the baby's old enough, we'll bring them too," Adora spun in the chair slightly, pulling some of her golden locks over her shoulder to smooth through the bedhead. "Even so. You have been here a month so far, and we've barely seen you,"
Adora snorted softly. "Well, discounting the surprise visit to the healers, of course," Marlena amended. She sighed softly. "I know a simple breakfast cannot make up for twenty-one years, but-" Marlena cut herself off with a sigh. "Adora, I barely know anything about you. I know nothing about your wife, your daughter or your life in general," She admitted. "And despite Randor being occupied most of the time, I know he yearns to learn more about you as well," Marlena sighed quieter. "So could you spare us one breakfast?" Adora nodded. "Sure, I can do that,"
Despite her words, she wanted to know more about her family too. She wanted to know where her blonde straight hair came from, why her eyes were a mix between grey and blue, why she was called Adora, why Violet had curly hair...
...
Adora felt as nauseated as ever at breakfast, thanks to the pregnancy. But for once, the main gurgling of her stomach wasn't to do with her little resident. "Adora, I'm sure you have as many questions as we do," Marlena began, sipping her tea somewhat nervously. Adora hesitated in eating more toast. "Um... yeah, actually... I do," She smoothed down the ridge of her shirt across her bump. Instead of words, she could only stare at her parents. She could see some features of them within Violet. According to Catra, Vi had her nose and eye shape, but looking at her parents now, Adora could see Randor's nose but Marlena's eyes. "Why does Vi have curly hair, but I have straight hair?" She eventually asked. Marlena's brow furrowed slightly. "Uh... I think my mom had curly hair, but really curly..." She paused. "Then again, it was the 80s, so everyone had curly hair... maybe it's something from her dad's side?"
"Mom. Violet's other biological parent is her mom," Adora was quick to interrupt. Marlena smiled apologetically. "My mistake. I wasn't aware women could procreate with one another," She paused. "Not without other intervention," She added. Adora's hand subconsciously touched the softly glowing rune on her hip. "Well, Vi was a surprise during a party after a battle, so I don't know about that..." Adora flushed slightly. "But Catra and I both have runes to help make the baby without the need for a guy," Marlena nodded. "Adora, if you don't mind my asking," Randor began. "Sure, what's up?" She asked, digging back into her toast. "You're twenty-one. How old is Violet? Four?" Adora swallowed before speaking. "She's five. Six in a few weeks though. Just over two, I think. She was born on October 29th,"
Adora took a moment to think. "You wanna know how old I was when I had her," She said. Randor flushed slightly, but Marlena put her cup down. "We're just curious. You've barely interacted with Adam, yet, you and him share far more than eye and hair colour. Adam, too, had a daughter. She's only two though," Marlena said. Adora nodded. "Yeah, he said. With Teela, right?" Randor nodded. "A fine girl, her. She couldn't be better for Adam," He sounded proud, almost like... like Micah was when he spoke of Glimmer. It's no surprise, Teela probably subconsciously filled the void of Adora as they all grew up. Randor probably came to see her as a daughter.
Adora's stomach roiled slightly.
"To answer your earlier question, I was sixteen when I had her. Both pregnancy and childbirth," Randor's face dropped several shades. "Sixteen? Sixteen?! You've not even aged out of our schooling system by then!" Adora felt her anger rise slightly. "Well, A) I didn't know I could get pregnant by another woman. I was having fun," She argued. "And B) We didn't have a schooling system in the Horde. It was learn fast or die! Frontlines or otherwise!" She snapped. The table flew into stiff silence. Adora angrily chewed her toast, despite it settling heavy in her stomach.
"Adora," Marlena began. "Honey, I'm not going to lie to you," She continued. "Besides now realising that you harbour the spirit of She-Ra, we reached out for help. We'd heard that She-Ra had defeated Prime and deactivated the Heart of Etheria with her soldiers, and we wrote for help," Adora sat back against her chair. Work, work, work. Neverending. "I'd heard. I was waiting to see when you'd mention it, to be honest. I haven't seen any clones when I've been about," She admitted. Marlena shook her head. "That's because they're banned from the castle grounds, else they be shot down upon crossing. I believe Teela and the Royal Guard took down nearly 45 before they finally got the message," Adora nodded slowly. "So what do you need us to do?" Marlena's brow furrowed. "Us?"
"Adora, you're seven months pregnant. You can't fight like this," Randor spoke. Adora turned to face him. "Please, I was fighting the Horde right up until I had Vi. In fact, I'm pretty sure I fought them the very same day I gave birth. I couldn't rest when I was pregnant, and Violet came out fine. If civilians need help, then I'll help them," Marlena's eyes shone wetly. "God, if only that stupid computer system hadn't taken you away... fighting wars at sixteen, whatever next?" Adora snorted. "Well then, you'd hate to know what my childhood was like," She paused. "Or lack thereof," Marlena shook her head. "I'm not sure I do... however, I want to know, if you'll tell me,"
Adora flashed a tight smile. "Maybe one day," She agreed. Marlena nodded. "In any case, the clones are gathering outside of the kingdom, far into territory that doesn't belong to us," She added. Adora frowned. "What do you mean?" Randor cleared his throat. "They belong to the other side. People like my brother and his wife," Randor hissed. "Oh, I know he'd be Adam's uncle!" Adora proclaimed, quite proud that she'd remembered that a parent's sister was an aunt, and a brother was an uncle. "Yes, but that also makes him your uncle, Adora," Marlena said gently. Adora's excitement faded. "Oh..." She shrugged. "Not the worst person I've had in my life," She admitted, immediately thinking of Shadow Weaver. "While Skeletor and Evil-Lyn are diabolical creatures, they have remained rather compliant and silent since Prime was slain. I'm not sure if they're working with the clones or not, but given that word would've reached them of your return, I doubt they're going to do anything. They would've done so by now if they were going to,"
Adora hummed. "Don't ever doubt. If they're smart, they'll be biding their time and waiting until the castle is mostly undefended when everyone heads off to the clones. It's what we were trained to do in the Horde," Forgetting this attitude wasn't normal, Adora missed the concerned looks shared by her parents. "Um... well... we don't expect you to do anything now we know you're expecting. But is there any chance your crew could help us? Even just to work out the intentions of the clones," Marlena asked. Adora hummed. "Absolutely. Bow and Glimmer co-ran the alliance with me, and Catra ran the Horde for a while. They're all confident in hand-to-hand and battle planning,"
Randor hummed. "Catra ran the Horde, did she?" Adora nodded. "Yup. If I didn't find the sword, I would've been there with her, running it. I was already a Force Captain when I left. Our mo-" She cut herself off. Marlena smiled sadly. "You can say, Mom, Adora. The woman who raised you deserves it," Adora frowned. Shadow Weaver didn't deserve it. But... no. Adora shook her head. "The woman who raised us planned for us to take over the Horde. We were the highest-performing cadets all our lives. Even with first-aid training and basic shapes, we were the first to get all perfects,"
She shook her head. She grabbed the pitcher of water and poured herself some. As she glanced up, she caught sight of a brown tail. Adora smirked to herself. "But even so. We'll go out and look for the clones. I can turn into She-Ra and fight them. It'll be fine," She counted three seconds. "Maybe I can have a sibling fight with Adam as He-Man. I wonder how many craters we'll make," Marlena glanced around, frowning deeply. "Catra, I know you're here," Adora called into the clearing. Randor looked around quickly.
An irritated sigh was the only sound that confirmed it. Catra rose out from behind some shrubbery. "I hate that Vi's made your hearing better," She grumbled, walking over. Catra sat to Adora's left. "As I was saying," Adora smiled as Catra grabbed her hand. "They'll be fine," She drank some water. "I can stay with Vi and talk with Adam. I know he's been dying to play with her," Adora smiled at her wife. "She ok?" She asked. Catra nodded. "She was starting to wake up, so I gave her to Sparkles," Adora quirked a brow. Catra smirked. "Ok, I gave her sweets and then gave her to Sparkles," Adora snorted. "She's gonna hate you," Catra shrugged. "Eh, more than she already does?" Adora laughed aloud.
Marlena watched fondly. "At least she's happy, Randie," She whispered quietly. Randor hummed. "Well, if that's all taken care of if you'd both like to follow me to the library, I can explain what our steps should be," Marlena stood up quietly, finishing her tea. Adora heaved herself up with Catra's help and began waddling behind. "Will your friends be joining us, if they're helping, or will you debrief them?" Randor asked. Marlena loved how he could switch from a loving husband and father to a firm and fair King and soldier. "I'll call them when we get there. Glimmer can teleport, so they'll be here soon. Then I can take Violet to see Adam. Catra can just debrief me later," Adora said. Randor nodded. "Ok. Sounds good,"
Once they were in the library, and Adora had left with a hyperactive Violet, Randor immediately turned to Catra. "I know that my daughter loves you deeply, Catra, but hear me well," He began. "Despite not having grown up here, she is still my little girl, and she will always be my little girl. I know you used to fight for the Horde, and I have let that go. If you do anything to upset her or Violet, I'll see to your punishment personally. Is that clear?" Catra raised her eyebrow. "Yeah, Adora also fought for the Horde. Hell, she trained our squadron from the moment she turned 10 to the second she left at fifteen. But sure, your Majesty," She bowed facetiously. "Whatever punishment thou wishes to bestow, I shan't protest,"
She grinned unkindly as Randor grumbled. "I don't trust you," He said. "Well, you don't have to. I've not married you," Catra argued. Randor hummed. "I trust my daughter's word that you are a good soldier," Catra snorted. "Not by choice," She retorted. Randor locked his gaze for a few moments more. "Not many are soldiers by choice, Catra," He conceded. Catra simply hummed. "Are we doing this plan or not? I don't want Adora running around too much, not this close to the end,"
So. I'm not dead.
I have, however, had an interesting 3 weeks.
1) I got blackout drunk for the first time.
2) As a knockoff effect from this, I was dragged back to my bed and consequently suffered a second-degree carpet burn.
3) Realised I had not one, not two, not three, but five assignments to do for uni, two of which were films.
4) Had work experience from 7am till 8pm, including travel.
5) Met THE TIM BURTON and actually had coffee with him.
6) Started doing my assignments
7) Burned out doing my assignments
8) Tried to find a job and failed
9) Had family visit for 5 days
10) Finally came out as lesbian to my best (girl) friend
11) The real kicker? I drunk flirted with a girl in my besties accom and was really doing well, to the point where she was blushing a little and flirting back. But then she said she was an asexual lesbian. So I'm dead rn. The only girl I know who's hot and lesbian doesn't wanna bang. Tragic. So, at 22, I'm still a virgin and single. ? ?
Anyway, hopefully a new chapter soon. Shit starts to get good ?
