Chapter 3
Jason finally comes out the ship after what felt like 10-15 minutes.
" You guys waited for me." Jason says a little bit of surprise on his face.
" We'll we decided to come down hear like dumbasses. It would be nice to know we all made it out." I say sarcastically
He just kinda looks at me not knowing how to take that.
" Tbh don't really know why i'm here none of you really even know me or of me." Trini says
" Her name is Dedi." Zack says
" Her name is Trini. She transferred into angel grove a month ago. We have history together." Kim says correcting Zack
" Actually she moved here over a year ago and she's in your science class Kim." I say correcting Kim
" Look guys I know we all don't know each other but somehow we were all there that day when Billy found the coins." Jason says
" I have a question are we superheroes. Like are we more like spider man or iron man. I don't feel like i've been bit by a spider but I feel good." Billy starts ranting
" Trust me bro your not a superhero." Zack says
" Why are you talking to us like your the boss now?" Trini questions
" Hold up can any of this Rita stuff be real?" Kim asks
" I don't know but I know the answer to whats happening to us whats wrong with us is here." Jason says
Everyone just kinda sits in silence at that.
" So your saying we should come back down here?" I ask
" I'm saying I think we have to come back down here." Jason says
" I can't make you come back but four o clock tomorrow i'm gonna be here." Jason says
The Next Day
Im at the same spot almost and hour before everyone else just sitting there thinking about all this. I know Billy is going to be showing up and I assume Kim is since she texted me asking if I was but I didn't respond.
In hindsight coming this early was kinda dumb when I think about it the people I know definitely not gone be on time so now with time to kill I just start stretching.
After about 30 minutes Jason shows up which makes sense. I expected him to be the first to show up.
" How long have you been here?" Jason asks me
" Only 30 minutes i'm just early to everything don't worry about it plus it gave me time to just exist." I say
He kinda just looks at me after I said that. We kinda sit in this awkward silence for the next 10 minutes as I have nothing to say and he just kinda looks at me.
" So what's the deal with you and Kim?" he asks
" What do you mean and why do you want to know?" I question
" How do you and Kim know each other?" he further questions
" Used to be friends." I answer shortly
" And currently?" he inquires
" Not friends anymore." I respond quickly
" What." he says as a statement more so than asking
" If you want to know more ask her don't know why it matters to you anyways." I say before simply laying down and taking a nap until everyone else shows up.
When I start to rise I turn to see the 5 of them walking to go into the cave. I'm kinda content to see if they remember to get me so I prepared to lay back down.
" Hey were's Zay?" I hear surprisingly trini of all people ask
" Oh he got here early he should be asleep over there by that rock." Jason calls out
" I'm up." I say standing up and brushing some of the dirt off of me. " Crazy that y'all almost forgot me though."
I say that watching Billy and surprisingly Kim seem a little disappointed at themselves.
Not waiting at all I walk over the to the drop.
" See ya down there." I say as I jump down.
Mid way through my fall I forgot that I still cannot swim. So I just kinda sit there hoping they jump someone jumps down and save me. After 30 seconds i'm underwater now just holding my breath.
As I begin to need oxygen again I feel my hand being grabbed as I'm dragged through the water. As this happens though I feel the water begin filling my lungs up slightly.
Before too much water can get in my lungs though we crash down into the entrance of the cave.
I feel something on top of me but don't even worry about that as i turn my head over to cough up all the extra water.
After that I look up to see Trini on top of me.
" All I have to do is almost drown to get a pretty girl like you on top of me noted." I say while still coughing up a little bit of leftover water from my lungs.
" No cause next time i'll just be like everyone else and forget that you can't swim." she says with a light blush on her cheeks.
She pushes off my chest to stand up.
" Aww and here I thought we were building a great friendship." I reply
She was about to reply but chooses not to as the others come crashing through through the water into the cave.
Without wasting any time we all walk towards the ship at least thats what I think the robot called it. To be honest I have no idea what they expect outta this and I remember the pure look of shock on the wall's face when he saw the coin I had.
I lag slightly behind everyone and pull out my coin and that voice i've been hearing in my dreams sounds out again.
" Find me partner." I hear
Putting my coin back in my pocket as we walk back into the ship for the second time ever.
When we get to the room with the face on the wall he and the robot seem somewhat surprised that we showed up again.
When we show up the wall says for us to step up so he can explain what it means to be a ranger and explain the rules.
" You need to follow the three rules to being a power ranger. You must never use your powers for personal gain. You must never escalate a fight unless your enemy forces you to. And you must never reveal your identity." Zordon says
" To assume your ranger identities you must morph." Zordon explains " Have any of you morphed before?"
" Only in the shower." Zach says as a Joke.
" Okay okay lets step into the footprints pls." Alpha sounds off through the chuckling.
I once again move to the side for them to stand on the platform.
" Standing in this circle as a team you can easily connect to the morphing grid. Do you feel it?" Zodorn explains
" Yeah they do." Alpha sounds off
" No, not feeling it." Zach sounds off
Everyone else also just looks confused not understanding what their supposed to be waiting on.
" You need to morph to get your armor." Zordon states in response
This cause Billy to light up in excitement.
" I knew it we do get armor." He says excitedly
Pointing to Jason and whispering that sentiment again to convey his excitement.
" Cool why don't you give us the armor?" Zack asks
" You already have it inside you. You bring it out by connecting to each other. And connecting to the morphing grid." Zordon replies
This causes me to laugh from the corner of the room shocking everyone. I think they forgot that I was here. But if thats the requirement we would be here for a long time.
I motion for them to continue.
" Now focus." Zordon says
They all close their eyes I guess as their way of trying to channel this mystical energy source.
" Power Rangers were a legion of warriors sworn to protect life. You must become those warriors." Zordon announces loudly.
Tbf it seems to be working as energy swirls around the circle their in as Zordon declares those words. However just a quickly as the energy started it stops and nothing has changed.
" Alpha why didn't they morph?" Zordon asks
" I don't know sir its very disturbing. It might take some time." Alpha says.
" We don't have time." Zordon states quickly
" If they can't morph what are we supposed to do?" Alpha questions.
" They'll have to train without their armor. We need to prepare." Zordon says with a sense a dread
' " Without armor sir that'll be very dangerous." Alpha says
We all just silently listen to every word the 2 aliens say. I look over to everyone else still on the footprints with what seems like growing worry that their gonna get hurt.
" Take them to the pit." Zordon says
" Hold up didn't you just say that was dangerous without armor?" I ask finally speaking up
" We only have 10 days now we need you all to be prepared." Zordon says
" And what if we get hurt before then?" I ask
" It's insignificant if you aren't ready then we are already doomed." he says.
" So were just a means to a end for you then." I say
" If Rita gets the crystal nothing else matters." Zordon yells
I back down after that but this situation already is fucked. And sadly there isn't really a way out of it.
" Alpha take them all to the cave pls. Zay you stay pls." Zordon says
As Alpha leads them out the room I watch them all look back at me as if their worried. But this fucking leftover consciousness of a fucking head in the wall aint finna do shit to me.
" What do you want?" I ask impatiently
" Where did you get that coin?" he asks
" The same place they got theirs why?" I question in response
" That coin has never left this ship since it wasn't entirely finished." he replies
" Well I don't know what to tell you it was in the rock." I say tired of this
" This is troubling." he says to himself
" If that's it i'm gonna go make sure they don't die since I don't have faith in you to make sure they don't." i say walking away
I come down to this cave and see them all trying to attack what looks like this rock creature thing.
" What the fuck is that?" I ask walking down into the cave
As soon as I say that the rock creature tosses Jason across the cave
" Not a hologram." Zach calls out
" And how long have you guys been just getting crushed?" I ask
" Around 30 minutes." Kim calls out
" Yeah y'all are doomed." I say
" You think you can do better?" Trini asks
" Easily." I reply smiling over at her
" Are we sure." Kim begins
" Let him go Kim since he's so confident." Jason says walking over after being thrown.
He looks annoyed at me and once again I have no Idea why.
As I pull up alpha seems to kinda reset the rock creature.
I get in my stance and wait for it to come attack me. I duck underneath its arms kicking it in its back. That doesn't seem to be enough to I jump up and kick in its leg. It drops down to a knee which allows me to grab its head for leverage as I bring my knee up into its head.
As the rock crumbles I try to make sure I stand up as straight as possible even though my knee hurts. Smiling at trini as I go to sit against a rock and begin massaging my knee.
" Well at least 1 of you knows how to fight." Alpha says
For the next 2 hours I watch them all fail to even take out a single putty as their call even when working together.
After alpha calls training for the day Jason grabs a rock to mark something on another rock. As everyone gets up to walk I get up slowly using the wall to stand up as my knee feels like shit.
Zach, Jason, Kim, and Billy walk out the pit I see and as I go to follow I almost collapse on my knee, but I feel somebody keeping me standing.
Looking to my right I see Trini helping me stay on my feet.
" Thank you I woulda been fine though." I say
" Yeah shut up and just walk." she says
We begin walking out the pit together with her holding me up as we walk through the ship and back to the entrance of the cave.
When we walk out the ship I hear Zach teasing about us being late.
" And look at the love birds. What took you so long." Zach say
" You see how much i'm limping." I say in response
" Thats what you get for showing off in the pit." Jason says
I go to make a quick comment but kind of just think about it and decide he's right.
" That's completely fair." I say since he is right for the most part
" How's everyone getting home?" I ask
" I'm driving Jason and Billy home." Kim calls out with Jason and Billy nodding
" I'm gonna play around out here for a little bit longer." Zach says
" What about you trini?" I ask the girl holding me up
" Don't worry about." she begins to say
" I'm driving you home, don't argue with me." I state
With that we all depart by the time we get back to the top of the opening. Walking off our separate ways I tell Billy we need to talk tomorrow before we go back to the pit.
Surprisingly Trini actually gets in the car doesn't even make an attempt to run off.
" I'm surprised you actually didn't resist me driving you home. Maybe I got the wrong read on you Trini." I say
" Wouldn't be the first time." she says
" Also put your address in so I can get you home." I say handing her my phone
She does that and hands me the phone back.
I put the car into drive and look at her.
" Seatbelt please?" I ask her
She buckles her seatbelt without saying anything to me.
" You plan on being silent the whole ride? And here I thought that you were starting to get comfortable around me." I tease her
" Shut up and drive." she says back
And I listen I drive about halfway to her house as we sit in complete silence I would consider it at least somewhat peaceful silence.
She seems to be kind of just observing me almost like she has a question to ask me.
" Do I have something on my face?" I ask breaking the silence
" No just. Why are you being nice to me as if you know me?" she questions
" I'm not i'm treating you how i treat all of them except for Billy. Probably nicer than I treat all of them except for Billy." I say
" What do you mean by that?" she ask
" I'm the wall fly I sit and watch everyone and remember people's actions. Me and Kim used to be close growing up but not as much now. Me and Jason have no bad blood at least on my part he seems to have some with me. And Zach is what I would call a free spirit." I say
" That literally doesn't mean anything." she says
" Your impatient." I say
" You just talk slow." she replies with a smile on her face now
" But anyways then theirs you. Your a controlled element you don't want to cause problems and you don't anyone to cause you problems. You choose to not make friends because of whatever reason but you would actually enjoy having them if you felt like they were worth your time." I ramble on
" That's an interesting Idea if you weren't so full of shit." Trini says calling me out
" Ok you got me. Maybe I just have a crush on you huh." I say in response
This causes Trini to break out into a full on blush and retreat back into her seat a little bit.
" Not that it would matter anyways as i'm not even sure if you could possibly reciprocate those feelings." I say since she wasn't planning on talking.
She looks at me with a very questionable look.
" You swing for the other team. I see the way you look at Kim." I say back
" I have no idea what your talking about." she says
I decide to leave it alone and we sit in silence for the next couple of minutes until I arrive at her house.
" Enjoy the rest of your night miss crazy." I say to her before she closes my car door
" Thank you. This wasn't too bad." she says with a smile before closing the door
I sit until I see her door open to which it looks like her mom comes out to meet her. I see her mom questioning her but it's enough for me to know she made it home good so I drive off.
