Chapter 24: Courage VS Love: A feud between Two Sailor Guardians
Danny, the Sailor Guardians and Tuxedo Mask had just left the area and were searching for the loccis once more.
"See anything?..." Moon asked, since Danny tried to get a birds eye view.
"No, not yet..." Danny said, landing nearby.
"That's no good. They could be anywhere..." Tuxedo Mask said.
"Well, it's not like they'd have a big neon sign that says "Villains' welcome" or something..." Danny said, earning an annoyed look from the taller male hero.
"Your sarcasm doesn't exactly work like a magnet..." Tuxedo Mask muttered.
"Just keep looking. I'm sure we'll run into them eventually..." Luna insisted.
"I hope so. All this searching is making me hungry..." Artemis said, ignoring the disapproving glance from Luna.
As they searched, the ghost boy and his new friends had been exchanging stories and it was his turn to answer questions.
"So, you actually defeated that technology monster ghost who took control of every computer on Earth that one time?..." Jupiter asked, having recalled that incident.
They had tried to fight it, but it disappeared almost as soon as it appeared and they never could figure out what had happened. At least until now.
"Yeah, his name is Technus. He calls himself the "Master of all technology" but he is just a windbag with megalomania. Granted, a smarter than usual windbag, but a windbag nonetheless..." Danny said.
"One who caused my computer to crash...literally..." Ami said, having been upset since her computer rose up and fell out her window, which was several stories up.
"That's a bummer..."Usagi said.
"Yeah. Sorry about that. Didn't take care of him in time..."Danny said.
"Well, I still passed my assignment and got 100%, but it was still a hassle..." Ami admitted.
As the girls gave exasperated smiles at this, Danny blinked at this as he felt unsure how to respond.
"She kinda reminds me a bit of Jazz..." The ghost boy couldn't help but think.
As they searched Danny recalled what they told him earlier, about how they were all recruited by cats from space and found out that each of them were reincarnations of princesses of their own respective planets from the solar system.
A story he still found to be unbelievable but also knew that it was true, especially since he has seen crazier stuff before.
As time passed, Danny decided it was his turn to ask more about their adventures and what battles they've went through. He recalled some details they previously mentioned earlier, ones he was still curious about.
"So, you girls all really used to fight against this Evil Queen Beryl lady and her four dark knights for a number of reasons that involved dethroning the current ruler of the Moon Kingdom...which was an actual thing?..." Danny asked, still finding it surreal.
"Yep, that's what happened..." Jupiter said.
"And I was the princess..." Moon said.
"We were all royalty, she was just the daughter of the queen in charge of us all..." Mars added.
"I see. And did one of the dark knight general guys really fall in love with one of your other friends and later was killed by the other dark knight?..." Danny asked.
"Just about..." Luna added.
"Then... later, you all defeated Queen Beryl and her dark knights and are now dealing with a new enemy calling themselves the Dark Moon Clan. Did I get most of that right?..." Danny asked, having memorized all of that quicker than what he learned in Math class.
"Yeah, that pretty much the long and short of how we all got to be where we are now..." Jupiter said with a shrug.
"We know how crazy it sounds, but we've been dealing with situations like that for so long that it almost seems normal to us now..." Venus said, trying to remember a time where she and her friends have spent a day without transforming into Sailor Guardians to stop some bad day causing trouble.
Which surprisingly were very few in between their daily lives, after discovering their Sailor powers
"I know that feeling, something trying to kill me has become a Monday to me now..." Danny said, shrugging in response.
"I know what you mean..." Jupiter said, sighing at how oddly familiar it's gotten.
"Tell me about it..." Chibi-Usa mumbled, while the ghost boy asked more questions.
"So, do you all get your powers from the same source?..." Danny asked, wondering how they transform.
"Yes and no, it all depends on what part of our powers you're referring to..." Ami explained.
"There are some things we aren't so sure ourselves..."Luna added.
"Apparently, these cats weren't given instruction manuals for us..." Mars complained.
"Hey, our job was to awaken your powers and make sure you understood your mission. We did our part..." Artemis defended himself.
"Meaning you were too lazy to do more and get more info..." Venus muttered, earning a glare from him.
Danny raised a brow at that.
"She is bickering with a talking cat...and its still not the craziest thing I've seen tonight..." He thought as he scratched the side of his head.
"What about you? You mentioned your powers came from an accident earlier?..."Chibi-Usa asked, still wary about his involvement in all of this.
"That and my dad is probably OSHA's worst enemy since I got my powers from that ghost portal I mentioned... same with my arch-enemy...although in my case, my folks put the ON button INSIDE the machine..." Danny said.
"Who the heck puts the on button INSIDE something like that? Even I know that's stupid and dangerous..." Moon said, while Danny sighed.
"A question I often ask myself but can't ask my parents directly without the risk of exposing myself..." Danny muttered.
"I guess you value your privacy..." Mercury said.
"Not only that, I don't think my dad can handle his best friend secretly hates him and has the hots for his wife..." He said.
"Creepy..." Moon said, already disliking this Vlad guy.
"No kidding. I should probably apologize to Yuichiro since he clearly respects me..." Mars said, feeling guilty for how she usually treats him.
"Who?..." Danny asked.
"Don't ask..." Ami said.
"Her boyfriend..." Moon said as she and Venus giggled.
"NOT MY BOYFRIEND!..." Mars snapped, while the blondes kept laughing.
Mercury, Tuxedo Mask, Chibi-Usa, Luna and Artemis looked at this in disapproval as Jupiter laughed it off nervously before looking at Danny again.
"Can't you work with other heroes to deal with him?..." Jupiter asked, trying to change the subject.
"You guys are the only other actual superheroes I know about..." Danny said.
"So, you're not used to working in a team of heroes?.." Venus asked, as she took another step closer to him, which he noticed.
"I have a team, but I'm the only one in my of the group with powers..." Danny admitted, stepping black and blushing a bit.
"I had heard some saying they saw a smaller person who looks like you, but is actually a girl. That's not your sister?..." Venus asked, since that was the theory she and a few other people believed.
"She's not my sister... sort of..." Danny said, recalling his last encounter with Danielle.
"How so?..." Jupiter asked, wondering what that meant.
Before Danny could answer them, the heroes came across Crown Game Center but was sadly closed today.
"Darn... I guess we can count this out on how to celebrate winning against these dudes..." Danny said.
"Odd, they're usually open today..." Moon said out loud.
"Maybe Motoki is sick?..." Makoto asked, worried about him.
"Motoki?..." Danny asked, having never heard that name before.
"He's a friend of ours and the one who usually runs the place..." Tuxedo Mask explained.
"Still, this is a surprise..." Jupiter said.
"Huh... a sudden closing? I wonder if that's a sign..." Danny said.
"That the bad guys are using an arcade as a hideout?..." Jupiter asked.
"Or the building itself and it closed to avoid unwanted attention. Worth a look, right?..." Danny asked.
"I suppose not..." Luna said.
"Wouldn't be the first time the enemy used the idea of hiding outside the sight of the plane. What do you think they'll have?..." Venus asked, still trying to look cute to the ghost boy.
"First, it's hidden in plain sight. Second, one way to find out..." Danny said as he phased his head through the walls of the game center, the sight of a headless Phantom leaning on the wall unsettling the rest before he pulled out.
"Nope... nothing in there..." He said before noticing the looks on their faces.
"You okay there?..." He asked as everyone else looked unnerved.
"Please don't do that again!..." All of them said in unison, including Tuxedo Mask.
"Sorry... my friends are used to it..." Danny apologized before stepping back.
"Hmm... maybe I'm wrong about this?..." He said, cupping his chin.
"Maybe not..." Jupiter said. "Now that I think about it, a few businesses around here have closed up for unexplained reasons. Maybe it's around here?..." She suggested.
"I suppose it's worth a look around the neighborhood..." Luna said.
As the Sailor Guardians discussed who splits of with whom, Sailors Jupiter and Venus eyes each other competitively.
"No way am I leaving HER with him!..." The thought in unison.
As they broke to three groups, Jupiter and Venus stuck with Danny.
A little later
Danny honestly didn't know how he ended up wit BOTH Venus and Jupiter right now, but here he is.
Searching for bad guys with two beautiful superheroes who both have a thing for him.
"I'm either lucky or cursed... probably both..." He thought.
He hovered off of ground as he flew around the building the game center was a part of, seeing nothing before landing by the two girls.
Jupiter stared at the ghost boy from behind,who was still focused on the mission. Fiddling around, a frustrated sigh let out as her face turned red.
"Even as a ghost, he's so cute. He's a lot like the guy who broke my heart... but somehow nothing like him at the same time..." She thought as a deep breath came, in through the nose out through the mouth.
She then took a step forward, wanting to get a little closer but she was not quick enough as Venus hugged Danny by the arm, pulling him into her chest.
With doe eyes, the blonde girl stared with dreamy wishes.
"So, Danny~kun? Just to be clear and that there will be no regrets when this is all over...Is there…anyone waiting for you back home? …"Venus fluttered her eyelashes.
"I mean, you have your friends and family, but what a girlfriend or at least another girl in your life? Don't you have one?Or are we still all set for our date when this is over?…"She asked, still trying to act cute to him.
Danny gulped, blood rushing to his cheeks. He focused on the closeness from the pretty blonde girl, both physically and emotionally.
Jupiter pouted with puffed cheeks. With a clenched fist, her anger got the better of her as she went for the other arm.
"Venus, what are you doing? We have a job to do!…"She said, as she pulled Danny closer to her.
"I'm just wondering about after the battle…"Venus swooned, nuzzling her head against the ghost boy.
"I mean, this might be the final battle. Who knows what could happen, and I just want to know more about the cute boy here…"She said, snuggling closer.
"I don't have a girlfriend... or anyone else I'm close to like that. I mean... I did agree to go out with you both, after all..." Danny admitted as his face turned pink.
"See?..." Venus asked Jupiter, sending her a challenging look.
"See what?!..." Jupiter questioned with arms crossed.
"He's not taken, so there's nothing wrong with this?..."Venus said, while her friend clenched her fists.
"It is when you're not the only one who likes him!..." Jupiter said, stomping one foot forward as she pointed at her.
Venus let go of Danny so that she and Jupiter can glare at each other in a comical manner.
"Try and fight me all you want, but he's mine...or he will be soon enough..."Both thought, glaring at each other as sparks of feuding started between them.
"Uh... girls?..." Danny went.
Venus turned away from Jupiter to make a lovestruck smile at him with hearts in her eyes.
"Yes, Danny-kun?!..." She went.
Before he could respond, Jupiter comically lifted her up and put her down aside before making the same face with Danny.
"You can tell me, Danny-kun..." She went.
Danny's face turned red at her presence. Venus then got too close for comfort as she got between them, her nose briefly touched Danny's.
"I'm all ears!..." Venus went.
Danny's face became a brighter red, though he also looked mildly uncomfortable.
"Uh..."
Venus then took his hands in hers.
"I assure you as a fellow hero and potentially your future girlfriend that you can talk to me!..." Venus asked in an eager way, but then felt fingers pull her ear away in a comical manner, causing her to tear up.
"You haven't gone out with him on a REAL date yet and you're already acting like you're going to prom..." Jupiter said with a furious look on her face.
"But I DID go out with him! Remember!..." Venus pointed out.
"You insisted he call it a date when you got crepes... that hardly counts!..." Jupiter said.
Venus pushed her back, freeing her ear.
"It counts!..." She went, as the two friends continued to argue.
Danny blinked as he watched the two bicker more.
"Should I... do something? Minako's a total babe, but she's kind of trying a little too hard here. I mean... that's not me saying no. Still, Makoto is calling her out without making a move on me, at least not yet... He thought.
"Well... I happen to think if he picked me, I'd never let him go..." Venus said with a proud smile.
"Yeah, I can see you wrapping your arms around him 24/7, even when he tries to fly around in the air...and when he doesn't want you to..." Jupiter said with her arms crossed.
"Who says he doesn't?!..." Venus yelled, only to earn a disapproving glance.
"You'd try to glue yourself to him if you could..." Jupiter complained.
"Not like that! I meant I'd be quite the loyal and loving girl..." Venus said.
"Oh, and I wouldn't?..." Jupiter questioned with an eyebrow raised.
"Oh, nothing personal, Jupiter. It's just... I'm more elegant and graceful..." Venus said.
"If only he could see how elegant and graceful you are as a nurse..." Jupiter grumbled, striking a nerve in her friend.
"Oh, so you're saying... you could do better?!..." Venus asked.
"Well... I am the one he tried to get in touch with...and I am also the one he said "I like you" to first..." Jupiter said with a sly smile.
As Venus growled comically, she tries to pick a fight, only for Jupiter to push her by the head and keep her at arm's length as Venus tried to comically hit her but miss.
Danny watched with confusion, flusters and even some mild interest.
"I should savor that two beautiful girls are willing to fight over me just a bit longer... even if the fight between them almost feels like two girls fighting over their favorite fictional character..."He thought before noticing something atop the building.
"Was that always there?..." He asked, pointing at the top of the building.
It looked like some kind of black pyramid, yet thinner and upside down.
"No..." Jupiter said, having stopped her fight with Venus.
"Why didn't we notice it before?..." Venus asked, surprised.
"Some kind of perception magic? Or we're just thick?..." Jupiter asked.
"Or you guys are too distracted..." Artemis muttered, getting glares from the girls.
"Since when did you get here, Artemis?!..." Venus exclaimed.
"I've been here the whole thing and you just NOW noticed?!..." Artemis exclaimed.
"Well, you never said anything. Plus, we bought you were with Luna and the others..." Jupiter said, arms crossed.
"Well, someone had to keep an eye on you two and your crush here. Especially since he's not trying to do anything to stop you..." Artemis said while Danny flinched.
"It's not like I want them to get into fights..." Danny chuckled nervously, before recalling what he had to do.
"I...uh...I'm gonna go check this out..." Danny said awkwardly, while the make cat frowned silently.
The ghost boy hovered up and, upon getting closer, pulled back as he felt some kind of pressure from it. He descended to the ground quickly.
"Okay, this isn't a weathervane... I feel... something... coming from it. You should call your friends and let them know what we found..." He said.
"On it..." The two went, pulling out their communication devices.
"I'll keep an eye on it..." He said, going back up to keep an eye on the strange object.
As he did, both Jupiter and Venus eyed him from below. Both wanted him, and both couldn't help but wish they could be next to him right now.
Later
The rest of the Sailor Guardians soon arrived on the rooftop and saw the strange object.
"What is this?..." Mars asked.
Mercury held out her handheld computer and typed something as she registered the energy it emitted.
"It's certainly giving off readings I've never seen before..." She said.
The strange object seemed to be sparking with purple electricity that came with a crackling sound.
"Uh...I know I'm not from around here but is that normal?..." Danny asked.
"No. No, it is not..." Jupiter said.
"Well... that depends on how you look on our definition of normal..." Mercury couldn't help but comment as the purple electricity started to swirl in front of them.
"10 bu-uh... yen says that's a portal..." Danny said.
"You'd win that bet..." A voice came from the swirl, revealing it was indeed a portal as the one to step out was a familiar magician figure.
"You! Uh... what was your name again?..." Moon asked, looking clueless right now.
"Uh... Magic-guy?..." Mars asked.
"I think its Mystico?..." Jupiter asked.
"Oh! Mad-Magic!..." Venus asked.
The entire time, Majisho was growing angered before that last one made him snap.
"It's Majisho! And just for that... you will all be part of a permanent disappearing act!..." He yelled.
Another figure appeared before, a familiar knight.
"Now is the time for these damsels to be in distress!..." Zecalibur shouted as he created more of his knight copies to take to his side.
"Uh oh, we have to get passed these guys!..." Moon said as the rest prepared to attack.
"Shine Aqua Illusion!..." Mercury said, keeping her hands at her chest.
"Venus, Love me chain!..." Venus said, aiming her attack.
"Bouquet Throwing Dart Roses!..." Tuxedo Mask shouted as hundreds or roses flew towards his target.
"Burning Mandala!..." Mars said, using fire as an attack again.
"Sparkling Wide Pressure!..." Jupiter said as her electric powers created a small ball she tossed.
"Pink Sugar Heart Attack!..."Chibi-Usa said, using the hear based attack.
"I don't have a cool name for this attack!..." Danny shouted, as he fired his ghost ray.
The locci soldiers braced themselves before the impact sent them flying back. They did not fall to the floor, being able to land on their feet.
"Someone should go in and deal with whoever or whatever is in there..." Tuxedo Mask instructed.
Thankfully one of the young heroes volunteered to take on the task before anyone else.
"On it!..." Danny said, speeding past the Zecalibur copies and entering the portal.
"Be safe, Danny-kun!..." Jupiter thought, frowning in fear.
"If anyone lay a hand on my Danny-san, I'll tear them apart!..." Venus thought, furious at the idea of him being harmed.
"Good luck!..." Both Jupiter and Venus said in unison, before noticing that they both wished Danny luck.
Both girls then sent competitive looks to each other. Jupiter didn't like the fact Venus was still trying to get Danny to like her. Venus did not like that Jupiter was getting close to Danny before she did.
Sparks flew as the orange and green sailor scouts stared at each others. It seemed almost more literal with the latter before they broke eye contact, huffing competitively.
"The nerve. You'd think Venus would take a hint already. I know we'd agreed to let him choose but I know Danny likes me more..." Jupiter thought, frowning.
"I know we're friends, but Jupiter better know she can't win. All's fair in the war with love and friends..." Venus thought, mixing up another saying.
"Uh... girls?..." Artemis went, trying to get them to stop.
Their next words made it clear they weren't listening.
"I can't wait until this is over and we can go on our date. Danny-kun won't resist my home-cooked meals..." Jupiter declared.
"He will after tasting one of mine. I can be as good at it as you..." Venus replied.
"Yeah. And Sailor Moon can be as smart as Sailor Mercury..." Mars sarcastically replied.
"True..." Moon agreed with a triumphant pose but then frowned.
"Heeeeeey!..." She shouted.
Venus decided to ignore Moon and Mars, and continued her argument with Jupiter.
"Once I become an idol, he won't be able to resist me. I can just see us becoming a super cool superhero couple like in the movies. Not to mention that I can nurse him back to health every time he's wounded in battle..." Venus said.
"He'll become more afraid of you than he's afraid of ghosts..." Jupiter replied as the other Guardians silently nodded.
Venus glared at that.
"Now see here-..." Venus and Jupiter started bickering again, ignoring everything else around them.
The opposing Locci seemed unsure what to do before shrugging and deciding to attack. Jupiter grabbed two in the head.
"Excuse me! This is a private conversation!..." She went before tossing them aside.
Their friends saw this and sighed. Artemis in particular did this in annoyance.
"Why do I get the feeling that they forgot their lives are in danger?..." Artemis mumbled.
"Probably because they did..." Luna said, sighing in annoyance.
The others shook their heads, going back to the fight. A quick explosion brought the latter back to earth as they let Danny handle the big boss.
They knew it was not going to be easy, especially since they don't know what their leader looks like.
A few moments later
Danny flew past he small army and found himself in a very dark location.
"You'd think the forces of evil can afford their power bill?..." He asked, joking as usual.
"You are not welcomed here!..." A booming voice shouted.
Danny spotted the leader. The surrounding locci parted way, giving the two room, as if their leader wanted to deal with him himself.
Danny saw the area in front of him lighten up, showing a figure on a throne.
"And... you are...?..." Danny asked, irritated.
"King Regalis..." He declared, sounding haughty.
Danny frowned, knowing that this must be the threat he must face.
Now to finish this… figure out which girl he likes more… and go home.
