It was a typical afternoon at the lab. Jo was just signing off on her latest case and was headed to Mac's office to drop off the report. She paused at the door when she saw him contemplating two ties and she couldn't help but smile.

"Didn't we have this discussion when you went on your first date" she asked leaning against the door.

"What is wrong with wearing a tie?" he sighed to her

"Unless you're going to a restaurant with a dress code it's not necessary. Let Christine see the wonderful man you are, not the boss man."

"Did you need something Jo? I mean besides telling me how to dress" Mac winked with a knowing smirk on his face.

"Just dropping off my report. You know you value my opinion Mac Taylor." Jo said while putting the file on his desk.

Just then Mac's phone beeped with a text. He grabbed it off his desk, he frowned and let out a sigh after reading it.

"What's wrong" asked Jo

"Duty calls! Guess I'm keeping the tie after all and my date will have to wait."

"Don't be silly, just forward me the address and I'll go"

"No Jo, it's my job. Christine will understand."

"I'm not saying she won't, but I don't mind going. Besides didn't you just work a double?" She gave a knowing raise of her eyebrow

"Jo that's not setting a good example if I'm pawning off my crime scenes on my second in command"

"So I'm incapable of handling things?"

"No, that's not what I said."

"Great, then it's settled. I'll go grab my kit and I'll walk you out."

"Jo..." she had already turned and walked out the office. " stubborn and doesn't listen." He mumbled.

Mac waited for Jo outside his office in the hall and they rode the elevator down together to the parking garage. As they stepped out they split off.

"Thanks Jo, I owe you" Mac waved

"You can pay me back with lunch tomorrow, I'm thinking a burger and fries" she said and hopped into her avalanche.

Mac headed across town to meet Christine while Jo was headed to the address Mac had sent her. When she pulled up she saw a single squad car outside what looked like a small warehouse, lights flashing. She grabbed her kit and headed for the door beside the car.

"Hello!" She called out looking around

"Yea back here" said a voice in the distance

"Busy night I guess." She called out trying to make conversation as she walked towards the office in the back. "I see we're still waiting on the coroner"

She didn't get an answer, but once she was back near the office door she was puzzled to find it empty with nothing inside. Jo went to turn around and was pushed inside the office, dropping her kit so she could stop her impact with the wall. The door slamming behind her.

"Where is Mac Taylor?"

Jo turned around drawing her gun, before she could speak or fire, she was being tased and immediately fell to the floor. Once the man stopped shocking her, he stepped over kicking her gun away and kneeling.

"Where is Mac"

"Not coming" Jo whispered trying to keep herself conscious

"We will see about that" he's stated and shocked her again

Jo was unconscious in a matter of seconds. The man took his phone out and snapped a photo of Jo before he picked her up to take her to his next location. He decided he would use her to lure Mac to his death. Back across town, Mac was taking a sip of his drink when his phone went off.

"Sorry I just need to check this" he apologized to Christine

"I understand, I will go grab dessert from the back." She replied getting up and heading to the kitchen of her restaurant.

Mac was puzzled to see a message from an unknown number.

'Do you care enough about her to save her? It was supposed to be you.' Just then another message came in of a photo. Mac stood up quickly upon seeing the photo of Jo lying on the floor. He reached for his coat to leave as Christine walked back into the room.

"Oh, do you have to go" she asked stopping.

"Something's come up"

"Do you want a slice of pie to take with you"

(BEEP) another text

'The clock has started, I'll be in touch.'

"Damn it!" Mac clutched his phone and ran out.

"I guess not" she whispered to the empty room.

Mac jumped into his avalanche dialing Flack as he sped off.

"Flack"

"I need you to grab Danny and meet me at the address I'm sending you"

"I thought you had a date tonight"

"Not now Flack, someone's kidnapped Jo"

"They what?"

"Just grab Danny and meet me!" With that Mac hung up and forwarded the address to Flack. Not wasting anymore time, he sped across town to the crime scene he had been called to.
