The following is a disclaimer: I do not own Naruto, nor do I own One Peace. In fact, I have adopted Naruto: Successor of Zoro from Draak D. Sol in order to fix some of the plot holes that have been discovered in the original story.

The Next Generation of Strawhat Pirates

(Retelling of Naruto: Successor of Zoro from Draak D. Sol)

Chapter 1: The Beginning of the Journey

As the small child, 5-year-old Uzumaki Naruto, walked down the deserted road at night, his thoughts were consumed by memories of a pivotal event that occurred five years ago. It had been half a decade since Lord Third's ultimate sacrifice and the devastating Kyuubi attack on their village. The scars of that fateful day still lingered in the minds and hearts of those who called this place home.

Despite being surrounded by emptiness on this particular evening, Naruto couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with emotions as he reflected on everything that had transpired over the past few years. He was just a toddler when it all happened - barely old enough to comprehend what was going on around him.

But amidst all the chaos and destruction caused by the Nine-Tailed Fox's rampage, there was one glimmer of hope - Naruto himself. He is the youngest son of Namikaze Minato and Uzumaki Kushina, the fourth Hokage and renowned kunoichi, respectively.

Naruto's appearance alone spoke volumes about his heritage: spiky crimson hair inherited from his mother, along with cerulean blue eyes passed down from his father's side of the family. But what truly set him apart were three distinct whisker-like marks etched onto each cheek - evidence of being the offspring of a Jinchuuriki.

As he trudged along in solitude towards an unknown destination, Naruto couldn't help but notice how eerily quiet it was outside tonight. Everyone else seemed to be either celebrating someone else's birthday or rejoicing over finally defeating their long-time enemy - leaving him feeling more alone than ever before.

"It's my birthday too," Naruto muttered to himself, tears welling up in his eyes. It wasn't fair that everyone had someone to celebrate with while he was left to wander the streets alone on what should have been a joyous occasion.

Lost in his thoughts and emotions, Naruto unknowingly wandered into the Forest of Death - a place known for its dangers and challenges. But this didn't faze him as much as it would any other child his age. After all, he had already endured so much more than just a dark forest filled with obstacles.

As he continued down the path, Naruto couldn't help but think about how different things could have been if only his family were still alive. He was the only normal child out of triplets - an anomaly in itself considering their powerful lineage.

But despite all these hardships and struggles that life had thrown at him, one thing remained certain - Naruto would never give up or lose hope. Deep within his heart burned an unbreakable determination and resilience inherited from both his parents' unwavering spirit and willpower.

And so, with each step taken deeper into the darkness of The Forest of Death, little did anyone know that this small child was destined for greatness - determined to carve out a path for himself amidst all the odds stacked against him.

Timeskip. Forest of Death.

"Where the fuck am I?!" Roronoa Zoro is a tall and muscular man with lightly tanned skin. With a green haramaki, show off his muscular body. Shouted out loudly.

"What the hell?" Zoro said it in a low voice. While seeing a tiger chasing a boy through the forest. "Well, it's time to hunt down that tiger!" Zoro said it to himself. He walked through the forest. Now Zoro finds the tiger, cornering the boy. "Found you!" Zoro said it in a loud voice and appeared in front of the boy.

Zoro stood victorious in front of the giant 20-foot tiger that had been chasing a small blonde child through the dense forest. He was always ready for battle, carrying his three swords with him at all times. His Wado Ichimonji katana was his most prized possession, and he never let it leave his side.

With his right hand resting over his bundled up swords on his hip, Zoro's left hand moved swiftly to unsheathe the katana as he prepared to face off against the ferocious beast. "Ittoryu lai- Shishi Sonson," he declared confidently as he swung his sword towards the tiger, leaving a deep gash on its stomach.

As the dust settled and silence filled the clearing once again, Zoro turned to check on the small blonde child, who had been saved by his quick actions. Concerned for their well-being, he asked, "Oi, are you alright?" The child looked up at him with wide eyes filled with amazement and admiration.

"That was awesome," Naruto shouted out.

"This kid reminds me of Luffy. I don't know why." Zoro mumbles. "Oi, gaki, What's your name?" Zoro said to the child.

"My name is Uzumaki Naruto. What's your name?" Naruto introduced himself. "Roronoa Zoro, nice to meet you, kid." Zoro said as he went past the child. "How did you do that?" Naruto asked as he walked next to Zoro. "With a sword." Zoro answered sarcastically.

"Anyway, thank you for saving me, Zoro-san." Naruto said.

Zoro couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction, knowing that he had protected someone in need. But despite being hailed as a hero by this young boy, Zoro couldn't shake off the feeling of restlessness that had been plaguing him lately.

Fifty years since sailing alongside Luffy and their adventures as part of Straw Hat Pirates seemed like a distant memory now. Ever since then, Zoro has been wandering around aimlessly in search of something—or perhaps someone? He longed for home and companionship once again.

Lost in thought while walking through yet another unfamiliar place, fate led Zoro to this moment, where he found himself saving an innocent life once again. As Naruto continued to look up at him with admiration and gratitude shining in those big blue eyes, Zoro couldn't help but wonder if this encounter was just a mere coincidence or if it held some deeper meaning for his journey. Only time would tell as he continued on his quest, with the small blonde child now by his side.

"Let's go and find shelter." Zoro said it in a firm tone. "Yes, Zoro-san." Naruto nodded in agreement, and the two began to walk towards a shack in the distance.

Break

Twenty minutes later, the duo were at a large shack. "Here we are, my place." Naruto said as he entered the shack. "This is where you like?" Zoro asked as he entered behind Naruto. "Yup, this is where my parents let me sleep." Naruto said in a depressed tone as he looked at the little things he had.

All he had was an old king size bed, a table, and a small wardrobe. This is all he has for his parents, being the hokage and the hokage's wife. His shack is not even in the clan compound. The shack is located behind the compound walls.

As they sat in the small shack, Zoro couldn't help but feel a mix of anger and sympathy for Naruto. The child's story was heart-wrenching, filled with neglect and mistreatment from his own family. It made Zoro's blood boil to think that someone so young had to endure such hardships.

"So your parents are training both your sisters to be ninjas, without question," Zoro repeated, trying to wrap his head around the situation. "But when you ask to be trained, you get hit by your parents, and your siblings don't support you." Zoro continues with his statement. Zoro had no idea how to react to the child's story, so he simply stared at Naruto in silence.

Naruto nodded slowly, keeping his gaze downcast as he fiddled with the hem of his tattered shirt. "They say I'm not cut out for being a ninja," he muttered quietly. "That I'll never amount to anything."

Zoro clenched his fists in frustration at hearing this. How could anyone say such things to a child? Especially their own child? Honestly, Zoro wanted to shove his swords up his family's ass and use his Santoryu on 55% of the village.

"Wow, you must have it rough, kid." Zoro said, patting the child's head. Naruto could only nod his head and begin to cry. "Hey, hey, do not cry." How about telling you about my adventures?" Zoro said this while kneeling down and patting Naruto's head. As he began to stop crying, the child nodded.

But instead, he focused on comforting the young boy in front of him. "Well, kid," he said, lightly ruffling Naruto's hair. "I do not know much about being a ninja or whatever, but I do know you are powerful." He paused for emphasis before continuing firmly, staring directly into Naruto's eyes. "You have made it through a few minutes or an hour here in this forest by yourself, have not you? That takes strength."

Naruto looked up at Zoro with wide eyes before breaking into an uncertain smile. For once in his life, someone was acknowledging him and seeing value in him.

"Tell you what, kid," Zoro said after giving Naruto some time to process their conversation thus far. "Since it is your birthday today, how about I train you myself?" Naruto accepted his offer with excitement and joy, nodding eagerly. "And do not worry about your parents or siblings," Zoro said with a mischievous glint in his eye. "I will make sure they do not find us."

Naruto was surprised because no one in the village offered to train him. So when Zoro offered to train him, he wanted to cry. He hugged Zoro and sobbed into the old swordsman's chest. "Wow, this kid must have a lot of problems." Zoro contemplated as the crying child fell asleep. 'Maybe I just found a successor to my legacy,' Zoro reflected as he placed Naruto on the bed.

To Be Continued.

Author's Note: I adopted this fanfiction. I was interested when I heard the original story for it, so I decided I should continue working where the original author left off. So comment on the review section down below so I can do more chapters of it. This is dimer over and out.
