Part Two
Tam materialized under Everglen's leapmaster feeling like he left his stomach at home. As he walked down the hall to Biana's room he ran into Fitz. "Hey Tam, whatcha doing here?" Fitz asked, "I'm asking your sister on a date." Tam's mouth said as he called himself an idiot. "WHAT," Fitz said all trace of friendliness gone. "I meant to say that my big mouth and I are here to ask Biana to Grady and Edaline's anniversary party." Tam clarified. " Okay?" Fitz said suspiciously. "Anyway, I should go and ask." Tam wavered nervously as he hurried down the hall from scary Fitz.
After, what seemed to be forever Tam finally reached Biana's room. It felt like slow motion when Tam knocked on the door. He had already felt ready to vomit but when Biana opened it, it got so much worse, he thought that he was going to faint. "Hi, Tam," Biana said shyly. Her hair was pulled up in a messy bun and she had no makeup on. But, in Tam's eyes she was perfect. "Um… you have mercat scales . . . everywhere." Tam gasped looking down at his scale-covered tunic. "Excuse me for a minute," he said as he stepped to the side. Biana watched giggling as Tam furiously whacked the scales off himself.
"Ok," Tam said as he stumbled back "sorry about that." "It's fine," Biana said trying not to point out the last mercat scale in his bangs. "What are you doing here," she asked nervously. "I uh… I came to ask you if um… ummmmmmmmmm…..would uhh maybe, if you want to uhh go to Grady and Edaline's anniversary party, with me, if not I totally get it." Tam stuttered. Biana was speechless. Seconds went by as Tam's blood pressure rose. "I get it, you don't want to go with me, I should leave," Tam mumbled heartbroken "No, I do!" Biana shouted stopping Tam in his tracks. "I would love to," Biana said giving Tam the sweetest smile anyone had ever seen. "Really," Tam said sounding like a little puppy. "Of course," Biana said walking up to him and planting a kiss on his cheek. "See you tomorrow," Biana said cutely. "Ok, thanks," Tam said as she shut the door.
