"I'll be sure to plan the funeral. It was nice knowing you Spider. You will be loved and missed." Scorpion said as Lo'ak and Aonung made sure Spider was secure on the skimwing. Spider followed Scorpions advice and tried to spend just one on one time, a few times with two.
Spider rolled his eyes and looked at Aonung with a look that says he was ready. Aonung and Lo'ak shared a look, smirked, and let the skimwing go.
Spider held on for dear life as the skimwing went under, making sharp turns and twists, and going up to the surface, quickly diving back into the water.
Spider was laughing, having fun. While Scorpion is screaming, not having fun.
Spider manages to hang on for 2 minutes before the skimwing flung him in the air. Which causes both of them to scream, though Spider was more of a fun scream than Scorpion, who was screaming in terror.
"Oh my Eywa, that was awesome!!!" Spider yelled.
If Scorpion had a physical form, he'd be shaking like a leaf. "Never again. Never EVER again."
Spider was about to respond, but saw Lo'ak and Aonung swimming towards him. Spider swam to the suface, as did Lo'ak and Aonung when they reached Spider, laughing.
"Dude, maybe you don't need and ikran to fly." Lo'ak said. Which Spider responded with splashing water in his face.
"How high did I go?"
Aonung spoke. "Nearly six feet. I think it's due to the fact that you're so small."
Aonung and Lo'ak laugh as Spider glares at them.
"You cannot tell me that you're gonna let them get away with that!"
Spider smirked and splashed water in both of their faces. Both getting a mouthful of water.
Spider quickly dives to put a distance between him and the two Na'vi teens, who are in a vengeful mood.
"You just couldn't say no to Tuk when she asked if you would have dinner with her and her family could you?" Scorpion asked as Spider made his way to the Sully's marui.
"No." Spider whispered as he passed some Na'vi's.
"Ok fine, but why are we going there 2 hours early?"
"Kiri said she wanted to talk about something. Though she didn't say when to be at the marui."
"Well if she's not there and we walked all the way to the marui for nothing, I'm taking control of your arms during dinner."
The last time Scorpion took control of his arms was when he was eating, let's just say he makes more of a mess then a baby.
Spider was about to turn into the pod when- "He should not be here. He should have left with Norm."
Spider froze. Neytiri.
"He's safer if he stays with us."
Jake.
"He is a threat to our family!"
"He's not a threat! He's one of us! Always have been and always will be!"
"He won't be for long. He is almost 18, he will be sent to earth as you and Norm planned."
Spider felt his blood go cold. He knew there was talk about sending him to earth, but he never thought they would go through with it.
There was silence in the pod.
"That is still the plan, right?" Neytiri's voice sharp.
...
...
...
"I don't know."
Spider tried to back away but he accidentally tripped and fell backwards. He was hyperventilating.
Jake came out and saw Spider, horror filled his face.
"Spider, how long have you been there?"
Scorpion took full control, got up, and ran.
He heard Jake call for Spider, but he didn't stop running.
"Spider! Follow my breathing. In and out." Scorpion had ran all the way back to the shack, but didn't give Spider control. He didn't want Spider to hurt himself. So instead he made the body collapse into the bed and made it to where they were in the forest. He sat on the grass as he held Spider on his lap.
Spider tried to breathe, but he just couldn't. It felt like his lung couldn't work.
Scorpion moved Spider so his ear was to his chest, right where his heart is. "Spider, you have to calm your heart. I can't help your breathing. You must calm yourself."
How could Spider calm himself? What he heard wouldn't leave his mind. He didn't want to leave Pandora. He didn't want to go to earth. He- he-
He heard humming. Scorpion was humming. The melody was... familiar?
With one hand on Spiders back and the other stroking his head, slowly rocking him, Scorpion continues humming the familiar melody.
Spider felt his breathing slowly get better. Following Scorpions breathing.
After a few moments, Spider could breathe. Scorpion gently moved Spider so he was on the ground and faded away.
Spider sat there for 3 minutes before Scorpion returned. Sitting next to Spider.
It was quiet for a while until Spider spoke. "Where did you go?"
"Went to change the passcode. Figured you'd want to be alone."
...
...
...
"What was that melody called?"
"...I honestly don't know. I heard that melody in some of your earliest memories. Back when you mom was alive. She would hum that melody whenever you started crying."
...
...
...
Spiders eyes widened in fear. "Wait, did you take full control!?"
Scorpions made a confused face. "Yes- wait," Scorpions eyes widened, he forgot that if he's in full control Spiders eyes go yellow. "Crap. Uh, I did run so I don't think he saw."
"But what if he did?" Spider asked, fear in his voice. "What if they find out about you? What if they try to get rid of you? I-I can't lose you!" "Spider-" "I CAN'T LOSE MY BROTHER!!"
Spider covered his mouth when he realized what he said. Spider stared at Scorpion, who was staring at him with shock, waiting for his reaction.
"You...see me as a brother?" Scorpion asked in a low, soft voice.
"I... yes. I do."
...
...
...
"I don't know what's going to happen in the future. But I can promise this, I will do everything in my power to make sure that you never get sent to earth. I will fight everyone who dares to try to make you." Scorpion put a hand on Spider's shoulder. "We have a bond that no one, NO one, can break. I'm a part of you as you are to me. Do you trust me?"
Spider stared at him for a moment and put his uhand where Scorpions was. "I trust you."
Both smiled at each other.
Scorpion then stood up and extended a hand to Spider.
"Come on pipsqueak."
"Where are we going?" Spider asked taking Scorpion's hand.
"Anywhere we want."
Scorpion smiled at Spider, who was curled up, sleeping on the grass. They had spent the 2 hours running, climbing, flying on an ikran, Scorpion isn't forgetting how big Spider smiled when he suggested it, swimming, and then they found a spot to lay down and talk.
Spider eventually fell asleep and Scorpion just stared at the sky. For the first time he felt at ease. Usually he's on edge, even with Spider, but now he felt like he could be calm.
His smile went away when he remembered the events that happened at the marui.
The urge to yell at them was powerful, but he didn't want Spider to get mad at him so he kept his mouth shut.
He sighed. Spider promised Tuk to have dinner with her and her family. He knows that Spider would be upset if he didn't go.
Scorpion sat up wondering how the day could've gone from good, bad, back to good, and then all the way back to bad.
He didn't want Spider to go, he's not sure if Spider could deal with Jake and Neytiri. But he doesn't want Spider to be sad that he broke his promise to Tuk.
He's not sure what to do... unless. Scorpion turned to Spider. It would be risky, he's never had full control for too long, not to mention his eyes.
But, it was going to be almost dark. If he kept his head down, he should be alright. And if they ask why he's being weird, he'll say that he's tired.
He sighed again, this was going to be a long night.
"Where's Spider?" Tuk asked as her mother had given her food. Neytiri and Jake exchanged a look.
Jake cleared his throat. "Spider-"
"Is right here."
The Sullys turned and saw "Spider" smiling at them. Tuk immediately got up and hugged Spider. "I thought you weren't coming." A bit of sadness in her voice.
"Spider" hugged her back. "Sorry I was late. Lost track of time."
"Where were you? I wanted to talk to you." Kiri asked, worried.
"Spider" seemed a bit nervous. "I uh... sorta threw up earlier and didn't want me to go outside in case I was sick. I would've told you but I felt dizzy so I laid down. But I feel better now."
Kiri and Lo'ak exchanged a look. There was something off with the way "Spider" talked.
Tuk took "Spider's" hand and dragged him to sit next to her, Kiri on the other side.
Jake and Neytiri exchanged a look before Neytiri gave "Spider" food, as Spider switched masks.
"Spider" didn't talk so much through out dinner. He asked the occasional question and made a joke or two but that was it.
Jake and Neytiri kept glancing at him. Jake was surprised Spider even came. After what Spider heard them. He knows he needs to have a talk with him about it, but not now. He didn't want to disrupt the peace.
Neytiri on the other hand had hoped that Spider had gotten the hint and would stay away. But no. He just had to come. She doesn't understand why her children spend their time with him. She's growing more angry.
When everyone was finished eating "Spider" got up to leave, but Kiri spoke. "Maybe tomorrow I could help you repaint your strips."
"Spider" looked at himself, the strips were fading. Though wouldn't be completely gone for at least 2 or 3 days.
"Spider" then looked at Kiri with a smile, she felt unease with that smile. Wait- what was wrong with "Spider's" eyes?
"Perhaps." He turned and left.
Scorpion made sure that no one was following him into the forest.
Once Scorpion finally made it to the clearing, he immediately started working on the thing that he has be for a while. He figure since he was already in control of Spider's body he might as well work on his project.
While working he remembers that earlier, he had told Spider that his hair looked like it was hit by a mudslide. Spider just grumbled at that.
Scorpion grabbed one of the dreadlocks and looked at it. He made a grimace face. He really needed to have another talk with Spider about fixing his hair or do it himself. He sighed and went back to work.
He worked for another 30 minutes before he decided to head back to the shack. Not wanting to overwork Spider's body.
Once Scorpion got back to the shack he decided that he would just deal with Spider's hair. The sooner the better.
He headed to the bathroom to see Spider's hair.
He cringed, wondering if it was so hard for Spider to keep his hair clean that he let it look like a failed bird's nest.
When Spider woke up he was back in the shack. "Scorpion?"
"Right here pipsqueak."
Spider rolled his eyes and sat up, rubbing his eyes.
"Surprisingly, dinner with the Sully's wasn't as bad as I thought."
Dinner with the- wait...
"Don't worry, I controlled your body and pretended to be you. It was almost dark so they didn't see my eyes."
Spider sat there, processing everything.
He eventually just shook his head and said. "Honestly after everything. I'm not surprised."
Suddenly Scorpion took control of Spiders legs and started heading to the bathroom. "Oh and I also did something with your hair last night."
Once in the bathroom Spider saw that instead of dirty blond dreadlocks, there was light blond curls. Though there were some braids that had the beads he used at the bottom of them.
"Do you have any idea how long it took me to clean this hair!? How much shampoo and conditioner!? Did you know that there was a leaf in your-"
"I love it." Spider whispered, cutting Scorpion off.
"Y-you do?"
Spider just smiled. He wasn't sure what to say, so he just said. "Thank you." Spider examined his hair and noticed something.
His stripes were redone. "Thanks for redoing my stripes."
Scorpion was confused. Redone his stripes? What was he- wait.
Scorpion had been focused on Spider's hair that he didn't notice that his stripes were back.
"Spider."
"Yeah?"
"I never redid your stripes, most of it came off during the shower." Scorpion then showed Spider his memories from last night, not including when he went to the forest.
Spider stared at the mirror for a moment before turning the sink on, wetting his hand, and rubbed were the stripes were on his other arm.
He looked at his palm, not a speck of blue.
"What the-" "What are you going to tell Kiri?"
Spider walked out the bathroom, pacing in the shack.
"I don't know. What am I supposed to say? 'Hi Kiri, so my stripes magically appeared and it's not coming off.'"
"Just tell her that there was some leftover paint from last time and you decide to do it yourself."
Spider nodded. Yeah. Yeah that could work.
Kiri had gathered almost everything to make the paint. All she needed was some water. She was about to get up and get some when she heard a familiar voice.
"Hey Kiri."
She turned and saw Spider, smiling at her. "Hi monkey boy." She noticed his stripes were redone. "You redid your stripes?"
Spider seemed to tense a bit. "There was some leftover paint from last time. So I decided to do it myself."
That was a lie. Kiri knows that there wasn't extra paint last time. But decided not to say that. She also noticed that Spider's eyes looked fine. It was probably the light reflecting off his mask.
"Alright. Hey we're going to visit Payakan. Wanna join?"
Spider was about to answer, but was interrupted when Jake spoke. "Actually I need to talk to Spider for a moment."
Spider turned and saw Jake behind him. He motioned Spider to follow him.
Spider stayed behind Jake as they made there way to the beach. A bit away from the village.
Jake stopped and turned to Spider. He took a deep breath. "Spider listen, about what you heard the other day-" "I don't want to talk about it."
"Well we have to."
"Why?" Spider asked. "Nothings changed. I'm still going to be sent back to Earth. No matter how much I try to fit in. No matter what I do. No matter how much pain I go through I'm still being sent back. So what is there to talk about!?!?" He didn't mean to shout at the end, but he was getting angry.
Angry at the lies. Angry at people pretending to care about him. He's angry and tired.
As much as Scorpion wanted to reassure Spider that he wouldn't be sent to Earth, he kept quiet for two reasons.
1. Spider needed to let his anger out.
2. It would benefit his plan.
Jake had a shock expression. Not expecting Spider to yell. He's never yelled at him before. "It hasn't been decided-" Spider cut Jake, caught up in his anger. "Who cares if it hasn't been decided!? What are the chances of me staying?!" Tears were falling. "A lot higher then the chances of me staying! So don't you dare stand there and lie to my face saying it hasn't been decided! I've tried so hard to fit in! But no matter what I do, I'll always be the outcast!"
Spider bend over, with his hands on his knees. Trying to calm himself.
"Spider I- I know how you feel." Jake said reaching for him. But Spider slapped his hand away.
"You don't know how I feel! Never had and never will! The only reason why you got accepted was because you became a Na'vi! If you were still human they wouldn't accept you as one of them! You're the reason why their home was destroyed! Yet they still accept you! Me?! I've followed the Na'vi ways since day one! Yet I've never been accepted! I... I..."
Spider huffed, lowering his head. He was tired.
Jake's ears were pinned against his head. He always knew that life was hard for Spider. But he was a tough kid, he was fine. Wasn't he? Though he thought about what Spider said. About him not being accepted if he was still human.
He didn't know how to respond to that. So he said nothing.
Spider sighed, and walked away. Going back to the shack.
Scorpion, while he felt bad for Spider, was happy that Spider was finally starting to see that the Sully's aren't to be trusted.
Won't be too long until he can start the next part.
