Realisation

It was the go home show of Smackdown right before Survivor Series. Cassie and Joe had spoken briefly on the phone since they had kissed , both agreeing to take a few days and speak to each other face to face. Paul had been very clear the following morning with Cassie, this was not a good idea , they were both in complicated stages of a break up . Work was going the best it had been for a long time for both of them. Getting involved with each other romantically would ruin things and make it a bit more difficult to overcome if it didn't work out. Cassie agreed with everything he had said it all made sense , but at the same time she spent hours reliving the moment of Joe kissing her , touching her and wanting it to happen all over again for them both. She had reassured her uncle that she was taking everything he said seriously and she knew Paul was coming from a rally good place , looking out for them both.

Joe had called her uncle the next day and spoke to him for a bit on the phone, from what Cassie understood they bad a similar conversation. It was an impossible situation. She was lost in thought sitting on a production crate when she saw him , be was walking down the hall in the direction of their dressing room, he had his earphones on and a light black jacket , the weather being cold now in November. He was in deep thought , but he sensed her presence , looking up and his eyes catching hers. He removed his earphones and walked to her, again his expression not giving anything away. He stood in front of her " Hey, you hiding out here . Is Paul that mad?" he said with a smile. " Not so much mad as disappointed and making lots of not so subtle comments about how work relationships can ruin careers". Joe smiled "Yeah I got that talk too". Silence. " I never said anything about a relationship " Cassie said lamely. " I know, I think right now a relationship is not a good idea for any of us. You and Travis just broke up and me and Galina are still married. The separation hasn't been announced yet, it was a bit wreckless of me to be acting like I have been when we haven't announced it yet". Cassie couldn't argue with anything he was saying. " I know and Travis and I literally just broke up. I need to find myself as a person first before I even think about being with someone else". Joe looked at her " Then there's the whole thing of work and how good that is going , this is the best reaction and character arc I have ever had in my career. I don't want to ruin that. Plus its amazing for you to grow as a writer". Cassie had to agree with him " I think we both know that you and I , this isn't a good idea.". She had said what they were both thinking. " I don't know if it's bad timing, or just not a good idea , but Paul is right, we have too much to lose if we were to pursue this and it went wrong", he said regretfully. They both shared a tender smile. " Lets move on from this then ?". Cassie asked . Joe nodded in agreement. " Ok".

With that out of the way Cassie turned her attention back to the job in hand. She worked the promo with the boys and her uncle and by the time the show ended she was happy that the main event on Sunday. As she packed up to leave she took one last look at Joe who was heading off with his cousins. They shared a lingerie look for a minute before he gave her a little nod , their agreement acknowledged. When she left the arena she felt a little hollow , her uncle looked at her " Did you and Joe talk things through?". " Yeah , your right Paul its just not a good idea for us to start something romantic. We agreed not to go down that road". Her uncles voice was tender " its for the best kid". " I know " she said before turning to look put the window at the rain that was starting to fall. In Jey's car Joe was running the conversation back in his head. Everything they had agreed made sense and was for the best , so why did he feel a little hollow on the inside. Either way he had to look forward now and not dwell on this.

It was the night of Survivor Series and Cassie looked around the hotel room , it was nice to enjoy a little luxury for a change WWE had put them up just like the old days and she was happy to have a little bit of extra space for a night , even though she loved Paul's she was missing her own space a little. She smiled at him " you don't have to treat me like a leper , you can touch me , even give me a hug from tine to time" . He laughed and she joined him , her anxiety easing a bit. " So what's got you worked up then?" he asked handing her a cup of coffee and pointing at a table , as they sat. " Honestly, I know you guys were joking about Drew and being rough in the ring, but I just saw the match lay out and you are both really going for it" . " That's what you are worrying about , me? Don't worry baby girl I can handle Drew in the ring". She raised an eyebrow at the term baby girl , " Sorry working on it" he said. She looked at him for a moment capturing his eyes again , then looking at his lips " I have to go" she said getting up from the table.

The match was hard hitting but a great lesson in storytelling . Even though Cassie cringed on a few of the landings Joe looked fine as he walked into Gorilla . He spoke to Vince and Paul for a minute before his eyes turned to Cassie. He held out his two arms he was glistening in sweat " See , still in one piece" . Cassie rolled her eyes at him " Good, my money ain't going to dry up anytime soon then". She smirked at him. " OK go shower and I will call you tomorrow". " Paul giving you a ride to the hotel?". Cassie watcher her uncle make his way over " He sure Is I got a bath room service and a fluffy robe waiting for me ". " You read my mind woman , have a good night" he called shaking Pauls hand and heading off.

As Joe was showering a thought began to form in his mind , one he couldn't get rid off . It festered and festered until it consumed him. Back at the hotel he fought with himself going back and forth until he made a decision. He picked up his phone. Cassie was running her bath when her phone pinged. Joe's name flashed up she frowned when she read the message. " Need to ask you something, what's your room number". She was apprehensive, not sure what to say. But that didn't stop her from sending him the number. A Knock came shortly after and Cassie made herself count to five before she answered not wanting to seem too bothered . His hair was wet and down and he was dressed all in black . " What..?" she began but he came Into the room and closed the door quickly. " we need to get this out of our system , once and for all and then it's done" he said as Cassie felt her body become physically aroused by his words ." OK and how and why are we going to do that?". The sound of an alarm going off woke her from her sleep , Cassies eyes flickered open at the sound. The first thing she felt was an arm resting on her stomach and the warmth of a body behind her. Joe . She enjoyed the feeling of him there for a moment until he stirred to. He tutted and pressed a button on his phone , silencing the sound . He rolled back towards her and she was glad he didn't move away from her straight away . He pulled her body back to his before saying " I need to go to the gym". She nodded "OK". He kissed her shoulder and went to get out of bed , once he did that was it . They had to go back to their agreement. With this in mind he said gently " Cass" and she turned to look at him sleepily " Last night was ...unreal.". He kissed her tenderly on the lips. " Make sure and stretch" he said with a smile. She swatted him away " Get out of here" she said with a giggle. Joe dressed quickly and got to the door of the room before looking back at her in bed , she was snuggling back down to sleep. He smiled and closed the door behind him. Back in bed Cassie smiled to herself, her body was so tired , it had been 3am when they had finally finished , having done things in many different positions. She was wore out but very satisfied . She was glad they had that night , now they could move on like they agreed. Right?
