Moving On

Six Months Later

" Then Roman stacks them on top of each other and pins them 1,2,3" Cassie finished. She turned back to the room to see their reactions, she had just pitched her Wrestlemania main event to Vince , the wrestlers , Triple H and Stephanie. There was a moment of silence . " It's brilliant" , Daniel Bryan said breaking the silence . She smiled at him gratefully, " I love it Cass" , Joe agreed smiling at her widely. Adam Copeland aka Edge also nodded in agreement " Great storytelling, I think it's a great story we can tell in the ring". All eyes turned to the chairman who was eerily silent. He looked at Paul " She's good. Even though I didn't give you the easiest time on our first meeting, Joe and Paul were right to push for you . I love this idea. We will run it for the main event". They all stood and left the room , leaving Joe and Paul behind . When the door closed Cassie turned around to her uncle and Joe with a wide smile. " Oh my god" she said as Joe picked her up in a bear hug and squeezed her tight. When he set her back down she reached for her uncle, she squeezed his back , a little emotional " Thanks for giving me this shot uncle Paul and for always believing in me". Paul hugged his niece telling her how much she deserved it . " It was all your talent kid . I am so happy for you. Now go because you got that appointment at the salon, see you back at the house". Cassie nodded and picked up her purse. "See you later Joe" she called back .

Cassie twirled in the mirror , the dress was perfect . It was maroon coloured and off the shoulder it came to midway down her calf . Her hair was curled and pulled to the side. Not bad for a black-tie event she thought. WWE were having a get together for wrestlers and writing staff that evening, before the wrestlers went into full pre wrestlemania prep mode. A car beeping outside signalled it was her ride to the event. She came to the bottom of the stairs where she saw Marla in a long gold gown and her uncle in a tuxedo, they both looked great. "Wow Cassie, honey you are beautiful" Marla said. Aubrey had gone to her dad's for the night but Cassie made sure to take pictures of them all to show her later. A knock on the door stopped them mid pose " Come in" Paul yelled and the door opened and Joe stuck his head in , his hair was slicked back and he stepped in wearing a tuxedo. He was extremely handsome , she took in the waistcoat , it was an immaculate tux and he wore it well. "Didn't think they made those in your size" she teased and he smiled. " I'll take that as a compliment , you look beautiful. Ready to go?". They left together, settling into the car and chatting easily as Joe popped a bottle of champagne. The venue was decorated beautifully and everything was so elegant and beautiful. Cassie spotted the girls at a table and made her way over. Trinity , Sasha, Natalya and Carmella were deep in talk and obviously gossiping about something. "What am I missing?" she asked before giving them all a hug and commenting on their attire. " New boy , over there at that table. Really hot" Carmella said. Cassie followed her gaze to a guy who seemed a bit overwhelmed but very good looking " Hot" Cassie agreed. Trinity turned towards her with a wicked smile " I was hoping you would say that , you're the single one. Go say hello". Cassie immediately shrugged her shoulders " No way" she said. Sasha leaned in " listen Cassie it's been a while since you and Travis broke up , go talk to him. Live a little. If you do , I will come babysit Aubrey for a night. Her favourite wrestler, how could you say no". Cassie glared at Sasha " You play dirty ok ill go talk to him. But he could have a girlfriend you know". She walked away about a second before Joe arrived to the table with a glass of champagne for her. "Where is she going?" he asked Trinity. " To chat to that hot guy" Trinity said to Joe with a smile. He shrugged his shoulders and went back to the guys.

" Cassie and that guy look like they are really getting on" Jimmy observed. "Not going to work" Joe said. " That thing with me and her was a one time only affair. We work better as friends , look how good the last six months have been. Besides I told y'all that to get it off my chest not so you would keep bringing it up. Leave it man." Jimmy patted him on the back " Sorry Uce, cmon let's get a drink". It was a great night they ate and danced. Cassie was standing at the bar when she spotted Joe and his cousins surrounded by a few ladies who had their eye on a certain Tribal Chief. Since Joe had announced the divorce in January , those that were not in the know about the separation had taken it as a sign to come onto him . Cassie spent a lot of time backstage trying to pry him away from all the females that worked for WWE. Maybe they were hoping tonight was the night for them. She watched him for a moment marvelling at how well they had come through and became a team in every sense of the word. They were literally best friends now , no sexual activity in months, well except for that kiss on Christmas Eve , but that was as a result of too much eggnog . And his career was skyrocketing the fans loved his character arc and his on screen persona commanded so much respect now. He was all in and so was she , they were at the top of their game. She took the martini from the bartender and made her way over to the group.

" Hey C" Jey greeted her , Takeshia on his arm. The others turned including Joe , much to the annoyance of a blonde girl who worked in marketing. "Hey guys , what is going on here. Y'all are the loudest table so this is obviously where the fun is at". Joe put an arm on her shoulders " You know it baby girl" he said with a smile. She rolled her eyes at him " Who gave Joe the tequila?" she said shrugging him off of her with a smile. " So Cassie, girl. How was the talk with the hot guy", Trinity enquired. All sets of eyes turns to her as the guys started hollering and wolf whistling . " Y'all are babies. His name is Brad actually and not Hot Guy". " Oooh Brad" Jimmy said in a high pitched voice. " Are you going to go out with him ?". Cassie blushed " Maybe " she said a little shyly. The group cheered again " I mean I got the digits" she said holding up her phone to more cheers. Joe puffed up his chest " Someone point this guy out to me so he and I can have a little chat" he said with a smile . Cassie pushed him playfully " Back off big guy". He placed a shot of tequila in her hand " Drink this instead then" he said . She took the glass from him " Yes my Tribal chief" she obeyed , mimicking her uncle Paul. After downing it Joe caught her arm , " Come here a second , I got something for you" . They walked away from the table much to the annoyance of the blonde , who shot daggers at Cassie. He led her to a quieter corner and put his hand into the inside pocket of his tuxedo jacket. He handed her an envelope. She raised her eyebrows at him " what is this?". " Open it and you'll find out" . It was a card and inside were two pieces of paper , she opened and read them carefully. " You got me a trip to Vegas" she said unsure of what she was reading. " Yep after Wrestlemania with all of us , private plane , suites , massages, clubs, high roller suite whatever you like. You and me , my cousins and a few others. I Owe you a big thanks for all you have done for my career , I hope this will make up for it a little. All my treat. What do you say ?". Cassie dragged him into a hug "I'd love to go. Thanks Joe". Their eyes lingered on each other for a second before Joe called over his shoulder " She's coming with us" . More cheers " Vegas baby" Trinity hollered.

Before she knew it Wrestlemania had come and gone and the press was overwhelmingly positive, Gorilla after the main event had been so electric and positive that Cassie knew she wanted to do this and experience that feeling forever. The trip to Vegas had been planned for the next day and it was an early flight. When Cassie opened her door , she realised that Joe was being extra when she saw the stretch limo for her. He wanted to spoil her she realised as a driver approached her holding a huge bouquet of flowers white roses , her favourite. The card simply read " for everything you have done for me" . She took them and got into the car handing the driver her luggage. Knowing how hot it was going to be in Vegas she was wearing denim cut off shorts, with a dark blue vest and tan coloured wedges on her feet. Her hair was straightened and fell down her back , sunglasses completed the look. They pulled up to a private entrance where she could see what looked like their plane waiting. This was a lot she thought overwhelmed by the luxury. She was escorted to a lounge where Jey , Joe and Takeshia were waiting . " Cassie , hey baby" Takeshia called waving her over . A man stepped forward to take her purse and offer her a glass of champagne . She took it gratefully. " Hey guys" she said hugging them all , saving the last for Joe " Someone went all out" she said into his ear. He smirked at her , not saying a word.

Private planes were luxurious but small was what Cassie thought as she looked at the 10 seater plane. She hadn't told anyone about her nerves when it came to flying, but she really wished she had more champagne to drink. Meanwhile the air hostess was practically fucking Joe with her eyes , she had pulled her skirt up at least two inches and was making sure Mr Anoai had all that he needed. Cassie rolled her eyes while she leaned her hand on the back of the chair and leant in close to him to adjust the window blind. Across from her Joe noticed Cassie twisting her fingers , she was anxious , she did that when she was. Also she was far too stubborn to admit as much. As Marie the air hostess bent over to pick up something that fell giving him a view of her red underwear he took matters into his own hands. Jimmy and Naomi who were sitting across stifled a grin as the air hostess smiled over her shoulder at him. " Time for Play 2" Jimmy said and Naomi nodded along. Joe gave a little smile " Cassie , Play 2" he said in a low voice. She looked at him and at Marie " Really Joe? Now?" she hissed. He made eyes at her and she sighed. " Wait until we take off" she admonished him. He smiled and sat back , Marie still giving him those eyes. As soon as the plane levelled off the air hostess was out of her seat " Drink Mr Anoai?" she asked . " Yes he'll have a whiskey on the rocks and your best glass of champagne for me" Cassie said obnoxiously. Trinity hid a smile. Marie gave her a gracious glance and took off for the back. When Cassie saw her coming back , she stood and walked over to Joe , making sure she sat in his lap just as the drinks arrived. Marie looked a bit shocked for a moment as Cassie snuggled into the spot under Joe's chin. And started stroking his arms " These biceps are so big , why don't you wrap them around me back there?" she said to Joe just loud enough for Marie to hear. She then stood up and grabbed Joe's hand leading him to the curtained off private area at the back of the plane . As they walled by Jey he looked up in surprise " Play 2" Joe said with a smile allowing Cassie to keep leading him back. She turned back took one last look at Marie and pulled the curtains shut.

" Comfortable place to join the mile high club" Cassie said looking around . Joe nodded " So you're a nervous flyer" he said as if was a fact. She glared at him " No" she was indignant. He smiled a gentle smile " Yes you are you did the fingers thing". She hated that he knew her so well. "Play 2 , huh?" she said changing the subject. " Lucky it wasn't Play 1" Joe said with a smirk . " last time we did Play 1 was that waitress who wouldn't take no for an answer" Cassie said with a laugh. " Well thank god you were there to run the play , I like our little system", he said with a smile. " You mean the one where I am either jealous girlfriend, horny girlfriend or crazy bitch girlfriend, all in a days work. You have it so hard with all these beautiful women coming on to you". Joe smiled at her " Maybe It will be my turn to run a play for you soon?" Cassie looked at him confused. " Brad. Are you going to go out with him?". His tone was gentle and safe , he was being genuine . " I don't know" , she answered honestly. He nodded at her , accepting what she was saying. The plane hit a dip and lurched a little and Cassies face contorted in fear . "it's OK it's just these planes you feel every bump". She swallowed nervously and Joe pulled her into him wrapping his arms around her waist . Her eyes level with his chest. For whatever reason she didn't dare look up at him. Instead she waited for her heart beat to level off. " OK we better get back out there" she said finally meeting his eyes. He dropped his hands from her waist. Cassie pulled back the curtain dramatically, the others were familiar now with Joe and Cassies little game and watched on In interest at the performance as they walked by Marie Joe leaned down to talk into Cassies ear but was loud enough for Marie to hear " Baby no one does it as good as you and me , that was amazing" he said seductively. Marie stormed off and Cassie took her seat, her body covered in goosebumps at Joes words " This is going to be a fun trip" Jimmy said smiling at them both
