Rebekah let herself into the Salvatore house. Elijah had asked her to speak to Elena's friends. She'd been a bit annoyed, but she'd agreed to do it for Elena. Elena was already traumatized by the events of last night. The last thing she needed was her idiotic friends doing something stupid. Although, they probably would do something stupid anyway.

Rebekah could hear the Salvator brothers, Bonnie, Caroline, and Alaric Saltzman discussing Elena the moment she entered the house.

"I told you they did something to her," Damon was saying.

"Alright, but there was no reason to believe that at the time. Besides, confronting the Originals wasn't exactly helpful to you," Caroline said.

"When was the last time someone spoke to Elena?" Alaric asked.

"Right before she went up to speak to Esther," Stefan said.

Rebekah followed their voices to the living room.

"Yeah, which happened thanks to you! I could've gotten her out of there if you hadn't broken my damned neck!"

"Well, in Stefan's defense, it wouldn't have made a difference," Rebekah said, making her presence known.

They all turned to her. Damon charged towards her. "Tell me where the hell Elena is! Now!"

Rebekah laughed at Damon's attempt to try to intimidate her. She knew she was supposed to be nice, but her sister's friends made it insanely difficult with how stupid they were. "Damon, when are you going to understand the fact that I am an Original, and your attempts to intimidate me are tantamount to a toddler trying to intimidate a human adult."

"Rebekah, where is Elena?" Caroline demanded to know.

"Elena is at the mansion. She's fine," Rebekah said. Well, she supposed that depended on one's definition of fine. She doubted Elena thought she was fine, but she was unharmed and would stay that way.

"Let her go! Now!" Bonnie demanded.

"Let's get something clear here. The only reason I'm here is for Elena. The last thing she needs is you lot doing something stupid, making her situation even worse than it already is," Rebekah said.

"Since when do you care about Elena?" Caroline asked.

"It's just after one, right? So, a little over twelve hours ago is when I started caring," Rebekah told them.

"If you care about her, let her go," Alaric said. He didn't believe Rebekah gave a damn about Elena, but he didn't mind using the fact that she said she did against her.

"That's not my decision," Rebekah said.

"Look, I don't know what your brother thinks he's doing…" Damon started.

"It wasn't Nik's decision either. Elena disappeared on you when she went to speak to my mother. I would think it would be obvious to you that is her show. My mother gave Elena information last night that she didn't take well. She tried to leave, but my mother wouldn't let her, and she has no plans to let her," Rebekah explained.

"Esther is doing this? Why? She was supposed to help us," Bonnie said. She supposed it should be obvious that Esther had something to do with it, as she was the last person to speak to Elena, but Bonnie didn't understand why. Esther was meant to be a weapon to stop Klaus. That was why the Bennett ancestors led her to the coffin. Unless the Original Witch had tricked the

"You were an idiot to believe that, and it has cost Elena. I hope you realize that this wouldn't be happening if you didn't open the coffin," Rebekah said. That wasn't to say she was sorry they opened the coffin. If nothing else, it gave them the truth about Elena, which Rebekah was grateful for. Rebekah had also been glad to have her mother back, although she had reservations about the way she was treating Elena. However, Rebekah did not mind telling these people that they were the reason for Elena's predicament. "Then again, it always seems to be that way, doesn't it? You lot do something stupid without thinking it through, and she pays the price for it."

"What does your mother want with Elena?" Caroline asked.

"Doppelganger blood would be my guess," Damon said.

"She doesn't want her blood. She wants her. She wants her family back together," Rebekah said.

"What are you talking about? Elena has nothing to do with your family," Alaric said.

"Actually, she does," Rebekah said before explaining the same story her mother told her to Elena's friends. As expected, they didn't seem to believe her.

"No way. You're out of your mind. Elena's not one of you people," Damon said.

"Yeah, that's not even possible," Bonnie said.

Rebekah laughed. "You're essentially a brand-new witch, and you think you know everything about magic? You have no idea what is possible, Bonnie. My mother created vampirism. You think she isn't capable of reincarnating her daughter's soul?"

"Elena was murdered as an infant? Who kills a baby?" Caroline asked in horror. She didn't want to believe this was true, but it was one hell of a story to lie about, and Rebekah had no reason to lie about it. What did she have to gain from it?

"My father was a terrible person. He hunted us all for centuries. It's not exactly farfetched for him," Rebekah said.

"Why should we believe you?" Stefan asked.

"Oh, I don't care if you believe me," Rebekah said matter-of-factly. "I told you, I came here for Elena's sake, and because Elijah asked me to. I don't care what you believe, but if you show up at the mansion for some stupid rescue mission, you will end up dead, and Elena's situation will be worse. And if somehow you don't end up dead and still make her situation worse, I will kill you," Rebekah asked lethally.

"What do you mean by her situation. You said she was okay," Caroline said.

"She is physically, but my mother hasn't handled this in the best way. She won't let her leave or contact anyone at the moment, and the entire thing is quite traumatizing to her," Rebekah said.

"Oh, screw this!" I'm going to get her," Damon said.

"No, you're not!" Caroline snapped. Rebekah was right. Acting without thinking wasn't going to help Elena. That was what got her into this situation.

"Caroline, we can't leave her there. We have to get her out of that house," Bonnie said.

"Yeah, and you think storming the house is going to do that? This whole thing started because the three of you did something without thinking about what the consequences would be," Caroline as she pointed between Bonnie, Stefan, and Damon. She didn't like the idea of Elena being alone in house with the Originals, but they weren't going to hurt her. She'd already seen from Rebekah that she cared about Elena. Elena was their sister. They wouldn't let harm come to her, at least Rebekah and Elijah wouldn't.

"We were trying to stop Klaus," Stefan said.

"And instead, you created a problem for Elena that's worse than Klaus," Alaric said.

"Well, I've done what I've come to do. I'll leave you all alone. Stay away from the mansion," Rebekah warned.

"Rebekah, wait. Just tell Elena that we love her please," Caroline said.

"Very well," Rebekah said before leaving the room.

Elijah was sitting in his office doing some reading. Elena was still asleep on his couch. Soon, he heard a light knock on the door. "Come in."

Klaus walked in moments later.

"Speak quietly," Elijah said as he pointed to their sleeping sister.

Klaus looked at his sister for a minute before turning back to his brother. "Is she alright?"

"As well as she can be. She's quite traumatized. She blames herself for the death of the real Gilbert child, and her world has been completely upended," Elijah told him.

Klaus growled lowly as he cursed his mother for the damage she had done. It wasn't bad enough that his mother had failed him so much in his life. She had now failed his baby sister completely, and she was still making her life difficult. "Something has to be done, brother."

"Niklaus, I would implore you to remember that the walls have ears," Elijah said. He was certain his older brother was listening to every word they said so that he could pass it onto their mother.

"Finn is out feeding and Mother has locked herself in her room at the other end of the house. We can speak freely," Klaus assured him.

Elijah nodded. "I was planning on speaking with Mother later. I'm hoping that I can get through to her. If not, I agree that something needs to be done."

"I could just kill her again and we can be done with it," Klaus said with a smirk.

Elijah wouldn't deny that he considered that as a possibility. He loved his mother and didn't want her dead, but protecting his sister was his first priority. He would do what was necessary. However, ending his mother's life a second time wasn't going to be so easy. She was a powerful witch. "Niklaus, you were able to do what you did the first time because she didn't see it coming. I would venture a guess that even you didn't see it coming. You weren't planning to kill her when you confronted her, were you?"

Klaus shook his head. He'd killed her in a rage. He hadn't meant to do it.

"It won't be so easy a second time. She's a powerful witch. She will see it coming a second time, and she will fight back," Elijah said.

"Then we do what we did when Father was hunting us. We take Elena and disappear," Klaus said.

"Again, it won't be so easy with Mother, though I won't discount the idea. Look, let's take this one step ag a time. I will try to talk some sense into Mother. If that doesn't work, we will find another way. Either way, I will not allow her abusive behavior towards our sister to continue," Elijah vowed.

"Good," Klaus said. He looked at Elena again for a moment and then walked out of the room.
