Chapter 1: The Tragedy
Lily Evans and James Potter exchanged vows in a small ceremony, a brief respite from the growing darkness that loomed over the wizarding world. They had chosen to marry amidst the chaos, their love serving as a beacon of hope in troubled times.
As the first Wizarding War raged on, Lily and James found solace in each other's arms. In the midst of battles and uncertainty, they defied Voldemort, each time facing danger with unwavering courage and resolve. They had fought because the future and freedom for them and countless other depended on it. Voldemort had to be stopped.
Their defiance only served to anger Voldemort further, but Lily and James refused to cower in fear. They fought side by side with their fellow Order members, risking their lives in the battle against Voldemort's forces.
In the midst of the conflict, Lily and James welcomed their first child, a beautiful baby girl named Rose Alice Potter. Her arrival brought a ray of hope into their lives, a reminder of the world they were fighting to protect.
But as Voldemort's power grew, so too did the danger to their family. Lily and James knew that they were risking everything by standing up to the Dark Lord, but they refused to back down. But they were determined to fight for the future, for Rose, and for all the children who deserved to grow up in a world free from fear and tyranny.
But when Voldemort was at his peak and his deeds and power were terrible to behold for the world, but when his atrocities, cruelties and massacres were reaching its extreme, it seemed that Voldemort will have the power to rule all. Muggleborns and Halfbloods alike people were fleeing the country. His tyranny and dark rule ascended those heights that a moment came when magic itself made a prophecy through its vassal, the prophecy which will end the tyranny of the worst Dark Lord in many centuries. But few people knew that it won't be the end of him.
1981
31 October - Halloween
On the fateful night when Voldemort came to their home in Godric's Hollow, Lily and James were away, attending to Order business. Meanwhile, Sirius Black, their trusted friend, had been elsewhere, unaware of the impending tragedy.
As Peter Pettigrew, the traitor awaited his master nervously, he thought a about what led to the choice he had made. He had no choice he had to pick the winning side it was his best bet for future. He knew he would be betraying his friends but they didn't know Dark Lord was more powerful than they could ever be. He had to choose the strong side so that he would be safe when the hammer fell. That's why he had started to give inside information of the Order of Phoenix. But when the opportunity to become Potter's secret keeper came he knew with this precious information he could prove his loyalty and earn his masters gratitude, and his own safety. But he knew not what the fate had in store for him and his master. And suddenly Wormtail stiffened as if he was petrified, because he heard the swish of a cloak in the black night and knew the Dark Lord had arrived.
"Ah, Wormtail, worthless as you are but you have done well. You will be rewarded for your services as you have rendered them" Voldemort said indifference like he had never heard Wormtail ever existed.
"Thank you, my Lord. I am honored to serve you." Said Peter but, Voldemort had moved towards the house without paying any of attention to the witless.
"Tonight, I willl end this nonexistent obstacles in my way, I will kill The Potter brat, than none shall stand in my way."
With a cruel smile, Voldemort entered the house, leaving destruction in his wake. Inside, he found the young Harry Potter, yet unaware of his destiny.
As Voldemort's laughter echoed through the house. He would've to kill the little brat, opposition as non-existent as it was must not be let remain to fester. And whoever was in the house will also have to go if they came in his way. But house was empty, the worthless Wormtail had made sure his friends weren't here, no matter the traitor will get his reward. With a lazy flick of his wand he had found their was only a child in the home, so the Potters had entrusted their son to a traitorous friend how predictable. It seems their misplaced trust knows no bounds. To think they would place their faith in such a spineless coward speaks volumes of their own folly. As he descended towards the nursery he didn't heard the cries of the child. Upon entering and reaching the boy the casual waving of his wand the boy was hovering in mid air. At first the boy thought his father was playing with him, but he saw those red eyes and snake like face his deep green eyes looked defiantly into the red's. Voldemort thought As he was gazing upon the infant, a chill coursed through his veins, for his eyes bore the color of the Killing Curse itself. It was an unsettling sight, a reminder of the prophecy that foretold his demise at my hands. Yet, in that moment, he felt a thrill of anticipation, for here before me stood the one who would challenge his reign, the one whose very existence threatened to undo all that he had worked to achieve.
His eyes, like twin emeralds gleaming with defiance, mocked his authority and dared to challenge his power. But he will not one to cower in the face of adversity. No, he shall face this child head-on, and he shall crush him like an insignificant insect he is.
For I am Lord Voldemort, the greatest wizard of this age, and no mere prophecy shall stand in my way. Let the fools of the wizarding world tremble in fear, for the boy who bears the mark of death shall soon meet his end at my hand. And when he does, none shall dare to defy me ever again. And then he started crackling like mad. An angry, cruel, malicious gleam in his red eyes.
"Good bye, Harry Potter AVADA KEDAVRA" Voldemort in sing song amusing voice, and started crackling like a lunatic, but before the curse could strike Harry a solid Golden shield erupted around the boy encasing him completely, The Dark Lord's eyes widened in terror as realization dawned upon him. Before he could react, the very curse he had unleashed rebounded upon him with a force beyond comprehension and an explosion occurred. Pain seared through every fiber of his being and as he shrieked the explosion had destroyed the shack, but Golden Shield of the boyvwho had defeated the most powerful Dark Lord, and he was consumed by the same dark magic he had wielded so ruthlessly. In that moment of agony, he knew that his reign of terror had come to an abrupt and ignominious end. And as the darkness closed in around him, he knew that he had been defeated not by the hand of a hero, but by the consequences of his own arrogance and hubris, he should've gathered more information but it was too late.
And so, the reign of the Dark Lord came to a bitter and tragic end, his legacy forever tainted by the very darkness he had sought to unleash upon the world.
Sirius Black arrived on the scene, his heart pounding with dread and fury. But before he could react, he encountered Peter Pettigrew, the traitor who had betrayed his friends.
"You... Wormtail! What have you done?!" Sirius asked consternation, but then he realised what must've happened.
"You traitorous bastard. What have you done!?" Sirius shouted in rage and anger that Wormtail had never seen his friend who he had betrayed.
"Sirius, please, you don't understand..." Wormtail was squeeking and cringing trying to come up with an excuse.
But Sirius was beyond listening. With a growl of rage, he lunged at Pettigrew, ready to unleash his fury on the man who had brought about such devastation.
As Sirius lunged at Pettigrew, the traitor let out a squeak and disappeared into thin air, leaving Sirius to grasp at empty space. Sirius made follow but Peter had disappeared into the Godric Hollow's street.
"Damn you, Pettigrew! You won't escape justice for this!" Growled Sirius, but he couldn't follow him he would've to report to Dumbledore and Harry was alone he couldn't leave his godson alone in a destroyed shack.
Frustration and anger boiling within him, Sirius turned ran toward to entrance of the house and ran upstairs faster still and into the infant Harry's nursery, upon reaching the nursery he found Harry in his crib. When first setting his eyes upon his godson his heart was thumping, his dread came true when he saw Harry wasn't moving. But when he checked the boy was breathing. And then he saw the surroundings the shack was destroyed, Voldemort's black was on floor but there was no body but something close to ashes. Miracle he thought I saw with my own eyes the green colour of killing curse then it must've been little Harry who had defeated the Moldywarts - miracle - indeed. He picked his godson from the crib the cradling him protectively in his arms. With a sense of urgency, he instantly apparated outside of Hogwarts wards, knowing that Dumbledore needed to know this and James, Lily and little Rose wouldn't know but Harry will be safe at Hogwarts for the time being until his family got back from the clinic.
Arriving at the gates of Hogwarts, Sirius was met by the watchful eyes of the castle's guardians. With a sense of urgency, he approached the imposing doors and pounded on them with determination. Gate was closed so sent his Patronus. A moments later a woosh of fire brought Dumbledore to the gates of Hogwarts perched on his shoulder was Fawkes the Phoenix. Hearing the desperate, terrified and concerned voice of Sirius through his Patronus he had no time to run he asked Fawkes help.
"Dumbledore! It's Sirius Black. I need your help!"
The doors swung open, revealing the familiar figure of Albus Dumbledore.
"Sirius, what has happened?" Asked Sirius concerned for his state of appearance.
Breathless and shaken, Sirius recounted the events of that fateful night, his voice heavy with grief and anger. He handed Harry over to Dumbledore, knowing that the old wizard would protect him with his life.
"Dumbledore, Voldemort... he's gone. But Pettigrew, that traitorous rat, he led Voldemort to the Potters' home. We need to find Lily and James, and Rose, quickly." Sirius gasped out in rush.
Dumbledore's expression softened as he took in Sirius's words. But there was no twinkle in blue eye and his eyes looked happy but hearing about and Potters turned into concerned one.
"Fear not, Sirius. We will find them. But for now, Harry will be safe here at Hogwarts. But first we have to send words to ministry to apprehend Petigrew" Dumbledore informed Sirius. And he sent out a Patronus message.
"Okay now that you have sent the message about the traitor contact Lily and James. Where are they?" Just then, a flash of realization crossed Sirius's mind.
"Wait... Lily, James, and Rose are here in Hogsmeade! They were with the Tonkses because Rose was ill."
Dumbledore nodded, understanding dawning in his eyes.
"I will send word to the Tonkses immediately. We must act swiftly." He turned towards Fawkes on his perch. " Fawkes, you know what do."
The majestic bird vanished in a flash of flames, soaring off to deliver Dumbledore's urgent message. Yet, moments later, Fawkes returned without the Potters.
And communicated with Dumbledore.
"Apparently they aren't with Tonkses, little Rose is with them but her parents has left recieving an emergency Patronus message" said Dumbledore to Sirius. He turned around to speak with portraits, before he could a Patronus appeared:
"Dumbledore we were attacked by Death Eaters a few minutes ago at the Safe House, and there were casualties" after hearing Dumbledore disappeared with the Phoenix. But before he sent a Patronus message to someone.
As Dumbledore appeared in the Safe House, he stepped onto the grounds of the Bones estate, where pandemonium had reigned.
The air crackled with tension as witches and wizards gathered, their faces etched with grief and disbelief. Voices rose in hushed whispers, the solemnity of the moment punctuated by occasional sobs and cries of anguish.
Dumbledore's presence commanded attention as he made his way through the throng, his expression grave and sorrowful. He sought out the familiar faces of thode gathered, his eyes meeting theirs with a silent acknowledgment of their shared loss.
Amidst the sea of mourners, Amelia Bones stood resolute, her usually steely demeanor softened by the weight of her grief. Her sister's sacrifice had shaken her to the core, leaving her grappling with a profound sense of loss and disbelief. Dumbledore approached her asked about Lily and James. When he learned about the sacrifice of Lily and James and other 12. Dumbledore told Amelia Bones about Voldemort and left towards Hogwarts to inform Sirius where he and Harry both were waiting.
As Dumbledore returned to Hogwarts, the weight of his burden seemed to press upon him even more heavily than before. The shadows of loss and sacrifice hung heavy in the air, casting a pall over the once vibrant castle.
Sirius Black stood in the Headmaster's office, his eager face awaiting news of his friends. Beside him, the young Harry Potter fidgeted nervously, sensing the somber mood that permeated the room. But upon seeing Dumbledore face fell and his heart filled with dread.
"Dumbledore," Sirius greeted him, his voice strained with emotion. "What happened? Where are James, Lily and Rose?"
Dumbledore's expression was grave as he met Sirius's gaze. "I bring grave news indeed," he replied, his voice low and somber. "Lily and James... they did not survive the attack. But their sacrifice was not in vain. They were in among those who sacrifice to save atleast hundred tonight at the Bones safe house. But apparently it was distraction on their part, now when I see it. Amelia informed me it was a Death Eater polyjuiced himself and entered and gave entrance to other."
A heavy silence descended upon the room as Dumbledore's words sank in. Sirius's shoulders slumped in defeat, his grief palpable in the air around him. He leaned heavily against the desk, his heart heavy with the weight of loss.
"Dumbledore, what will become of Harry and Rose?" Sirius asked, his voice choked with emotion.
Dumbledore's gaze softened as he looked upon the young boy who would one day be known as the Boy Who Lived. "They will be cared for," Dumbledore assured him. "I will see to it personally. He will be ."
Sirius nodded, his resolve hardening with determination. "I will do whatever it takes to protect them," he vowed, his voice firm with conviction.
"After all he's done . . . all the people he's killed . . . he couldn't kill a little boy?
It's just astounding . . . of all the things to stop him . . . but how in the name of heaven did Harry survived Dumbledore?" Sirius asked desperate for an answer.
"We can only guess" said Dumbledore. "We may never know, but he will have that scar forever I'm afraid.
"What about the traitor Dumbledore" demanded Sirius suddenly. "I should've killed the bastard when I had the chance"
"He isn't yet apprehended but they said they are doing everything" said one of the former Headmaster's portrait.
"Thank you Everard" said the Headmaster gravely.
"Headmaster please contact Andi and either bring Rose back or give me some news of her." Sirius asked Dumbledore. He stood and left.
As Sirius waited for the news about Rose he saw Harry's lightening scar on his forehead, he hadn't even seen the scar in chaos until Dumbledore mentioned it, he hadn't had the time to see his godson properly. Now that he saw him and his scar but he also saw a distinct locket on his godson's neck a dark silvery coloured necklace it was almost invisible if you directly don't look for it, its presence felt majestic and felt like that it was a protection of some kind. And there must've a charm on it, Notice-Me-Not maybe, and something more. Well it might be a Potter heirloom.
His attention turned towards his friends sacrifice, he processes the news of James and Lily's deaths while being with Harry, a complex mix of emotions would surge within him. Grief had gripped him tightly, mingled with shock and disbelief at the sudden loss of his closest friends. Knowing that he was unable to be there to protect them in their final moments, Sirius was feeling a profound sense of helplessness and guilt. Anguish weigh heavily on his heart as he confronts the harsh reality of their absence. Despite being with Harry, Sirius was feeling utterly devastated by the tragic turn of events, his world forever altered by the loss of James and Lily. James was his brother in all but blood now he was alone. He didn't what he would do, how would he be able take care of two children and one only a year old. Then he remembered Remus, yes he will help and Dumbledore will make sure he was safe. Everything will be but his friends won't be with forever gone. The Lump in his throat was now more painful, no one remain who he could call a brother.
In the morning they brought Rosie back to Hogwarts. Peter was still at large, but they set that aside started where Harry and Rose will be safe. At first the five year old was confused when she reached Hogwarts, but for a five year old she was very bright upon seeing her uncle Padfoot and Harry at Hogwarts she got more confuse. But when she saw Sirius's face the five year old knew something was wrong. First Sirius avoided her questions, but then he thought she would find out anyway, so he told her about that her parents were heroes who had fought against mad men and protected lots of people. At first she cried for her parents but when they didn't come, she saw her brother little Harry and she became resolute and determined, knowing that she had to take care of her brother he was the only family she had left. But she was still a child herself she did cry sometimes when something reminded her of her parents.
In the evening of First November 1981 Peter Petigrew was apprehended and sent to
Azkaban. James and Lily's funeral happened in Godric Hollow people from all over Britain were present and Sirius also attended with Harry and Rose, they had entire Auror Corp as security in the cemetery.
The grief and anguish was high in the air, but still celebration was ongoing. On First November
Potter family wasn't filthy rich not upto Black, or Malfoy's fortune but they still had enough money that they would be considered wealthy people. So when the matter of Potter children safety came, Dumbledore talked with Goblin at Gringotts and an old property of Potters in Highlands Scotland was discovered, it was few mile far from and north of Hogwarts. The house was two story house, Goblin's refurbished it at once. And Harry and Rose along with Sirius moved to the House. Two Auror were assigned as bodyguard for the protection of Potters. Because after He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named follower and Death Eater might want to get to Harry Potter 'the Boy Who Lived' and their master was destroyed. Auror would be there 24/7.
Marlene McKinnon was was assigned as permanent residence and she had requested. She was with James and Lily in the Order and single, and she was willing to live with the Potters to protect and take care of James and Lily children. She owed Lily a life debt because when in pandemonium she was about to die and it looked to her like it was the end of journey, but then in an instant Lily was infront of her she had dispatched those two Death Eaters before succumbing to her death. So she had a duty to protect the children of the one she owed her life that atleast she could do, even if she couldn't bring their parents back.
Author Note:- Well I don't anything about writing, this is my first attempt at anything, I don't even write a diary. But this story I came up with it just the start in this story I will not make Harry too superpowered nor mediocre. I have planned to write him as a Genius Level wizard perhaps even to the calibre of Dumbledore but he still will be a kid so.
