Hello! Yea I know I have been gone for like a long time. I have my reasons ok? I was just fangirling over Ben Barnes and reading and daydreaming, a classic case of Writer's block so don't mind me. Sorry again. Ok enjoyyyyyyyyy.
Susan was experiencing labour for hours, Caspian was getting more and more worried by the minute. Even though he saw and heard Susan in this condition before it still hurts that his beloved wife has been in pain for hours. This birth has been especially longer than Annelise's birth. They were all in Cair Paravel, Lucy was helping Susan with the other healers were in the birthing room. Peter and Edmund were sparring as a stress reliever and because they weren't allowed to be in the bedroom and they wanted to give Caspian and Annelise some space. Caspian and Annelise were waiting in the library/ small living room. Caspian was roaming around and Annelise was reading a book. Annelise noticed that Caspian was agitated. She put her bookmark made of wood that Caspian carved in the page of the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets book, and ran up to Caspian and hugged him, well, his knees.
"Don't worry daddy, everything is going to ok! Mommy will be ok I can sense it." Anne said looking up to him with her doe eyes. Caspian then knelt down gave Anne a tight bear hug.
"I know princess, I know. Thank you for being here. I love you so much." Caspian replied.
"Why don't you show me what book you're reading?" Caspian added, attempting to use it as a distracting mechanism.
"Ok!" Anne replied with excitement. Caspian followed Anne to the couch.
"I am reading the second book of Harry Potter! Harry is being chased by the Basilisk, that must be so scary. Daddy, have you seen a Basilisk before?" Anne questioned.
"I didn't see a Basilisk but I did see sea serpents." Caspian told her while picking her up and putting her on his lap.
"Really?! How big are they? Were they scary? Can you tell me when you saw them?" Anne bombarded him with questions.
"Well you were really young at that time, you were four, remember when I had to go for a few weeks?" Caspian asked her even though he knew she didn't remember, or so he thought.
"Yeah! I do remember, I was really sad you had to go and Aunt Lucy and Uncle Edmund went with you too." Anne replied mildly surprising Caspian.
"Aww. I am sorry but I had to go because a few people were missing, and I had to find them because I am King. When you are a Queen, sometimes you also have to go on trips to help the people. This is why you go to special classes and training." Caspian told her and kissed her hair and cheek and she giggled. Suddenly they heard a knock on the door, it was Susan's senior lady in waiting, her most trusted one. Caspian basically ran over to her showing his worrying. Anne also followed him but with enthusiasm.
"What happened Marie? Is everything ok?" Caspian asked with fear in his voice.
"Congratulations Your Majesty, you have a healthy baby girl!" Marie announced. Caspian let out a quiet sob with tears of joy and grinned the biggest grin. Anne hugged him tightly and yelled "I HAVE A LITTLE SISTER!!" but the little celebration didn't last that long.
"But I have to tell you something Sir." Marie said.
"What is it? Is Susan fine? Tell me Marie is she fine?!" Caspian said with worry in his voice.
"Well you see, there has been some complications, Her Majesty was bleeding a lot, but now she is completely fine and recovered since Queen Lucy gave her a drop of her healing cordial. The doctors suggested that she is not allowed to do heavy duty for 4 months like archery and so on." Marie said. Tears welled into Caspian's eyes.
"C-Can we see them?" Caspian asked with anguish in his voice.
"Yes of course your majesty." Marie answered.
Caspian picked Anne up to go to the room Susan and his new daughter were in, and he saw a very sweet sight. A very tired Susan cradling their newborn daughter. Caspian let Anne go and made his way to Susan and sat down beside her. Anna ran and went sat down on the other side of Susan. Caspian looked at Susan so lovingly and gave her a long kiss and then looked at the baby.
"She is so beautiful..." Caspian said, breaking the silence. Susan nodded in response. The baby was born with raven black hair with curls like her mother and the darkest of eyes like her father.
"We make pretty babies, don't we?" Caspian added.
"I suppose so." Susan replied.
"Mommy can I hold her?" Anne asked.
"Of course darling, just be careful ok? Make sure to hold her head." Susan instructed as she was gently handing her the baby. Caspian and Susan both smiles as she started to talk to her little sister.
"Well what should we name the little angel?" Susan asked, while Anne was talking to the baby.
"Well I was thinking something from your planet, Earth. I was reading this book about Greek Mythology and it intrigued me, I really liked this Goddess, she is the Goddess of Wisdom, Craft and Warfare. So I was thinking, why don't we name her Athena?" Caspian proposed.
"Athena. Yeah, I really like that... So her name shall be Athena." Susan announced.
"Wait, why did you want to read a book about Greek mythology?" Susan asked.
"I just wanted to get to know more about your plane-"
"Without me?!" Susan finished.
"Sorry my love, I just wanted to surprise you." Caspian answered timidly.
"Well, that is a nice surprise but please don't continue reading without me. Got it?" Susan asked.
"Yes ma'am." Caspian replied. They both broke down into laughter. After some time, Anne gave the baby back to Susan and Susan told Anne to get Peter, Edmund and Lucy. While Anne was getting her uncles and aunt, Caspian finally decided to ask her.
"What happened back then? I heard that you had some complications." Caspian asked with a worried voice.
"Oh it's nothing, Lucy's cordial fixed it. Look at me I'm fine!" Susan comforted him.
"I know, I know. It's just... I worry about you a lot, I don't know what I'll do without you." Caspian gave her a small smile.
"And you do know for four months you will take on no heavy duties right-" Caspian asked.
"Yes Cas, I know! What else would I do? You remember how tired I used to be when Anne was a baby." Susan comforted him
"I know. She grew up so fast." Caspian said.
"Well after a few years she will start dating so buckle up." Susan warned him.
"Stop it! Oh the horror!" Caspian exclaimed.
"I pity all the men who are going to try to court her." Susan muttered.
"If he can't treat her like a queen, I am not letting him hear her. And if anyone hurts he I will personally castrate-"
"Caspian. There are many years to come. Relax. And no you won't castrate any men. She is your daughter after all, I think she can take care of herself. And don't you worry about her not being daddy's little daughter, she will always be." Susan comforted him.
"I guess you are right. But I will still castrate-"
"Caspian." Susan gave him a pointed look.
"Fine. Can I still beat him up until he's half dead and tell him if he comes near her within the city's radius I will have him killed?" Caspian pouted and gave her his best puppy dog eyes.
"Fine." Susan gave in.
"Yes!" Caspian shouted in triumph.
Just then Peter, Edmund and Lucy came in the room to see Athena. Edmund was the first to enter the room after Anne.
"Oh my days, Susan she looks the perfect mix of you two!" Edmund exclaimed.
"She is a beauty isn't she." Lucy agreed. Susan and Caspian were so overjoyed they just grinned and nodded.
"Well, she will be a great Princess of Narnia. Welcome to the family Princess..." Peter stopped to know her name.
"Athena. We named her Athena." Caspian interjected.
"Princess Athena!" Peter announced.
They spent a little more time with the newest addition to the family and the finally excused themselves to give Caspian and Susan time to settle themselves in their bedroom. Caspian insisted to Susan that she goes to bed because she did just give birth. She agreed easily because she was exhausted. Caspian took baby Athena and put her in the crib that he carved himself, beside their bed. After putting her in the crib, he went to close the curtains and saw fireworks going off in the sky. He smiled to himself thinking how lucky he was. Then he joined his beloved wife, Susan, into a deep slumber.
Thanks for reading, I know it's been months but hey, I had reasons. I had work due and my family ain't helping. Next chapter is placed 5 years later because I want to get into teenage stuff of Annelise. And no Don't worry I won't post 5 years later, it's when the story took place. And I always wanted to write Caspian being an overprotective father. Ok byeeeee!!!!
