Onboard a train, RD 456.
A young man with brown hair dressed in a red shirt, red pants, and a pair of blue socks and shoes sighed as he looked out a window. He then said, "I wonder how the next four years will go. The only thing that I know about Kyoto Huntsman Academy is that the students are sorted into teams of five instead of the teams of four that the Academies in the other Kingdoms use."
The young man was shaken out of the thoughts that he was starting to get into when the train suddenly shuddered before it got thrown off the tracks by something.
"HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!" The young man screamed just before the train returned to the ground with a violent crash.
-five minutes later-
The young man slowly opened his eyes to find himself in the wrecked interior of the train car that he was in. There were a few bodies present, one of which had been another male passenger while the other bodies were train workers judging by their uniforms.
"Crap, this is a rotten situation to find yourself in before you even get to the application site, Issei." The young man spoke to himself before trying to move his limbs. He was able to move his arms, legs, and head, so the crash hadn't broken anything for some reason. He then saw a red glow around his arms and legs, and then a voice echoed through his head.
"The red glow that appears around your body is your Aura, Issei-san. You can use it to protect yourself as well as attacking your enemies and using Dust."
Issei proceeded to an unblocked door on hat was now the ceiling of the wrecked train car and threw out a left jab as a red light appeared on his left arm. It shined for a few moments before Issei's left arm was covered in a Dragon-like gauntlet that covered his hand and most of his arm. Issei then jumped with his fist raised towards the door and punched it open before landing outside on the ground. Nearby was a young man with fair skin, blond hair and dark-blue eyes. He is quite toned, having strong muscles in his arms, shoulders, and upper chest. He wore a black short-sleeved hoodie with detached reddish-orange sleeves and a dark brown image of the bunny rabbit Pumpkin Pete trimmed in white with cute black round eyes. Covering his hoodie and hiding the Pumpkin Pete symbol is a white diamond-shaped chest plate cut off above his lower abdomen, and placed over his shoulders are a pair of white spaulders with rerebraces set under them. Below, he wears blue jeans with a white patch placed on the left knee and black sneakers which have "left" and "right" written in black on the respective shoes' soles.
The blond had seen better days. His armor was damaged and he had a large cut on his stomach that blood was spurting out from. He then noticed Issei and weakly asked, "Hey... who are... you...?"
Issei then replied as he knelt down in front of the boy, "The name's Issei Hyoudou. That wound looks serious. Do you need assistance?"
"I'm Jaune... Jaune Arc from Vale. I don't... need assistance. I'm not... gonna make it. I wanted... to become a... Huntsman."
Jaune then proceeded to hug Issei weakly for a minute. Issei felt Jaune's heartbeat weaken until it finally stopped, at which point Issei freed himself from the hug and closed Jaune's eyes. Stomping was heard and then Issei saw a large humanoid being that was about 10 meters tall, a moderately wide mouth, a combination of both flat and sharp teeth in said mouth, and external bone plates covering large portions of its black skin arrive. It tried to grab Issei, but he managed to dodge its attempt and started to boost his strength. Issei then saw a girl with brown hair styled in pigtails dressed in an orange blouse, white skirt, brown shoes, and white socks exit another wrecked train car and head in his direction as the humanoid threw a punch at him.
Issei dodged the punch by jumping into the air and landed near the girl, at which point she asked, "I saw you near that blond guy, Issei... Is he... dead?"
"He was mortally wounded when I came upon him and he expired soon afterward, but his injuries were not caused by me. This huge Grimm that is trying to attack me must have been the one to inflict such grave wounds, Murayama." Issei answered.
"That Grimm is going to be a major pain. Help me kill this thing, Hyoudou!" Murayama spoke as she brandished a katana.
"Sounds like a plan." Issei replied before he and Murayama dodged a punch thrown by the Grimm as he covered his left arm in a red aura. Issei then landed on the Grimm's shoulder and punched it, making the Grimm screech and try to grab him. Issei dodged the attempt by jumping up as Murayama's katana was quickly covered in a black aura before she landed on the Grimm's other shoulder and then swung her sword at its neck. To Issei's surprise, the weapon managed to slice through the Grimm's neck like a hot knife through butter and decapitated the Grimm. Murayama then jumped off the Grimm as its headless body collapsed to the ground while its head rolled several meters away.
Issei and Murayama landed near Jaune's corpse. Both of them started to breathe heavily as they fell onto their knees. Issei's gauntlet disappeared while Murayama put away her katana. Not long after doing so, a man with black hair dressed in a grey trenchcoat over a white dress shirt with a matching ascot, black pants and shoes, a pair of black gloves, and a black fedora arrived along with a small girl with blonde hair styled in twintails and blue eyes wearing a black Lolita dress with white frills, a large black bow on the front, and a green jewel embedded on the collar, white thigh-high socks, and black shoes.
"A Huntsman and Huntress..." Murayama spoke in awe.
"Indeed, but the two of us are not human. We are Fallen Angels. I am Dohnaseek while my partner is Mittelt. We're gonna have to bring you two in for questioning." the man replied.
A woman with black hair wearing a short black dress worn under a light purple jacket then arrived along with a tall buxom woman with brown eyes and long, navy blue hair that obscured her right eye wearing a maroon, trenchcoat-like top with a wide collar, a matching miniskirt, and black heeled shoes. The trenchcoat top was open at her chest, giving view to her breasts and cleavage. She also wore a gold necklace around her neck. She appears to wear a white shirt underneath her top. The blue-haired woman then said, "I am Kalawarner and my comrade is Raynare. The two of us are also Huntresses. Please don't resist or we will get rough with you."
An hour later, Issei and Murayama were seated at a table inside of a dimly lit room while Raynare and Mittelt were standing near them.
"So this... Jaune Arc fellow had already been fatally injured by the Grimm that you two killed and succumbed to his wounds before we arrived, correct?" Dohnaseek asked.
"Correct. To be specific, Issei was the one to come across Jaune in his final moments as he was already dead by the time I saw him." Murayama replied.
"Well, that's unfortunate for his family. I'll probably have to transport his corpse back home and give them the bad news about their son." Kalawarner deadpanned.
"I am honestly surprised that the two of you managed to kill a Titanos by yourselves. Those things can manhandle even an experienced Huntsman, so the one you killed should have been able to wipe the floor with you both." Dohnaseek spoke.
"To be fair though, Murayama and I are training to become Huntsmen. We were on a train to Kyoto to join those who are handing in their applications to the Huntsman Academy there when something big derailed the train." Issei spoke.
"And we believe that it had been the Titanos that you and your girlfriend Murayama killed." Raynare said teasingly, which made both Murayama's and Issei's faces turn bright red from embarrassment.
"My relationship with Murayama-san is not like that!" Issei exclaimed.
"Yeah, I am NOT that close to Hyoudou-san!" Murayama spoke.
"Well, the two of you are in luck. I happen to be a combat instructor at Kyoto Huntsman Academy. The governor-general of us Fallen Angels, Lord Azazel, was made Headmaster of the Academy and I'm his second-in-command, so I am willing to persuade him into inviting you both in if you both promise to not get yourselves killed." Raynare offered.
Murayama looked at Issei, who nodded in agreement before the brown-haired girl then said, "We promise to not get ourselves killed."
Mittelt then asked, "By the way, where did you two train?"
Issei then answered, "Kuoh Academy, Primary Combat School Division. The headmaster there is currently the Cadre Baraqiel."
"Baraqiel used to be one of the best Fallen Angel operatives we had, but a combination of injuries sustained during Ragnarok 456 years ago and his marriage to a woman named Shuri Himejima forced him to retire from active duty. He has become little more than a pencil pusher, so I'm not surprised that he became headmaster of a Primary Combat School, with all the mind-numbing paperwork that it entails." Dohnaseek spoke.
"Speaking of which, how did that conflict even start? I mean, Ragnarok is the main reason why Zipang, once known as Japan, ended up here in the world of Remnant in the first place." Murayama said.
"It was Loki causing a ton of mischief again, to make a long story short. The Shinto Pantheon decided to seal off the entire archipelago inside of a pocket dimension that collapsed and dropped Japan into Remnant 203 years after Ragnarok happened. Earth itself was essentially destroyed, and both Heaven and the Underworld suffered great damage in addition to losing about half of their populations. That hurt Heaven really badly because regular Angels can't increase their population through normal means while ten entire Families of Pureblood Devils went extinct. The names of the families that went extinct because of Ragnarok were the Vassago, Gamigin, Amon, Barbatos, Paimon, Zepar, Naberius, Forneus, Stolas, and Dantalian clans." Mittelt stated.
Grimm Database: Titanos. They resemble humans but are much larger, being around 10 meters tall and have moderately wide mouths on their heads. They have a combination of flat and sharp teeth in their mouthes and their skin is covered by external bone plates that serve as armor. They have immense physical strength, with even a newly-born Titanos being a match for a lone seasoned Huntsman. They only started appearing after Summer Rose disappeared on her mission.
